Jennifer Aniston Says A Friends Reboot Without Matthew Perry Is “Literally Impossible” | Glamsham.com

Jennifer Aniston has made it clear that a Friends reboot or sequel is something she just can’t imagine doing, not without Matthew Perry.

In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar U.K., published earlier this week, Aniston said it would be “literally, physically impossible” for her to return as Rachel Green following Perry’s passing. The actor, who played Chandler Bing on the beloved sitcom, died in 2023 at age 54 from the effects of ketamine, with additional health factors contributing.

“It’s heartbreaking that he had so many demons,” Aniston said. “But boy, for someone who had that much inner turmoil, he sure got to laugh a lot, and that was everything to him.”

Her words struck a deep chord with fans who still hold Friends close to their hearts. The series, which ran from 1994 to 2004, became one of the most iconic sitcoms in television history. Alongside Aniston and Perry, the show starred Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer. The six of them formed not just a legendary ensemble but also a genuine family behind the scenes.

Aniston recalled how much joy the cast found in working together. “It completely formed who I was. It was pure joy,” she said. “I couldn’t wait to get to work every day, to see those people, to read the new script.”

The last time the entire cast reunited was for Friends: The Reunion on HBO Max in 2021, an emotional moment that Perry was part of. Looking back now, Aniston described that event as even more meaningful. “We did everything we could when we could,” she said. “It almost felt like we’d been mourning Matthew for a long time because his battle was such a hard one to watch. As hard as it was for all of us and the fans, there’s a part of me that thinks this is better. I’m glad he’s out of that pain.”

Aniston’s remarks remind everyone how deeply connected the Friends cast was, and how the loss of one made a true reunion feel unimaginable. For now, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, and the rest will live on in the memories and laughter they’ve already given the world.

The Impossible Fortune review: A new dawn for The Thursday Murder Club

by jummy84 September 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Soon she’s drawn into a case involving a missing person, murders, and a fortune in bitcoin. And of course she has to bring the gang along for some help, being forced to rely on them a lot more than usual.

The real strength of the series has always been Osman’s character work. The Last Devil to Die remains the series’ emotional peak, but this entry carries that thread forward, which proves a wise decision. Elizabeth, still mourning Stephen, isn’t as sharp as usual, and for the first time the investigation doesn’t belong solely to her. Instead, the others – Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron – step into the spotlight.

Joyce shoulders much of the responsibility, rallying the group and making decisions herself, even when it puts her in danger. Ibrahim continues his curious connection with Connie the drug lord, a relationship that’s proving unexpectedly rewarding for them both.

Meanwhile, Ron takes centre stage in the B-plot, wrestling with the reveal of his daughter’s abusive marriage and his own ageing body. His struggle with fading strength and identity delivers some of the novel’s most poignant passages, though admittedly leaving the reader wishing for even more.

As ever, Osman uses the cosy crime frame to explore themes often overlooked in the genre: loneliness, loss and diminishing independence. Here, Ron’s journey of letting go of his old self and embracing a new one is especially affecting and the novel would be even stronger if readers were able to linger on these themes just a little longer.

The mystery itself is more high-tech than usual, with missing bitcoin sparking a chase that draws in ruthless players. The wealth-obsessed leave chaos and death in their wake, and the investigation has real bite. As mysteries go in The Thursday Murder Club series, it’s a fairly exciting one with an element of the cat and mouse chase.

The Impossible Fortune isn’t quite as accomplished as The Last Devil to Die, which married a gripping plot with rich character exploration. But it serves as a necessary reset: easing Elizabeth into her new life, allowing her space to grieve, and giving Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron the chance to prove they’ve learned from her.

If the first four novels were largely centred on Elizabeth’s incredible talents, this one suggests a small reset to allow the rest of the crew to show just what they’re capable of too. The future’s looking very bright for this talented bunch.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery teaser: Teaser is finally here, and Daniel Craig is back as the clever detective Benoit Blanc.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery teaser: The teaser for Netflix’s hit detective franchise’s third instalment is finally here, and Daniel Craig is back as the clever detective Benoit Blanc. The makers dropped the trailer on Monday, giving fans a first look at the third film in Rian Johnson’s popular mystery series.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery teaser: Daniel Craig and Josh O’Connor in a still from the film.

What is the teaser?

This time, Blanc is faced with what he calls ‘the impossible crime’, the murder of a Catholic priest, played by Josh Brolin, during Mass. The movie promises suspense, drama, and plenty of suspects. Alongside Craig, the cast includes Glenn Close, Cailee Spaeny, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Josh O’Connor, Andrew Scott, and Brolin himself.

The film recently had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on 6 September. Glenn Close, who also stars in the film, shared her excitement about the project when speaking to PEOPLE earlier in August 2024, calling it “one of the best experiences of my life.”

About the film

Daniel Craig also sports a new look for this film, with longer hair and a three-piece suit. This marks a fresh style for Benoit Blanc compared to his previous appearances in Knives Out (2019) and Glass Onion (2022).

Wake Up Dead Man will open in select theatres on 26 November before streaming on Netflix from 12 December.

This is their first tour of the year, and the band brought out some rarities as well as some well-liked favourites for fans who attended the opening gig.

Additionally, they played ‘Wishing Well’ for the first time since 2014; and their cover of Descendants’ ‘Hope’ for the first time since 2003.

The ‘Missionary Impossible’ tour will continue tonight in Tampa, Florida. It will then make stops in cities including Atlanta, Charleston, and Kansas City. You can find any remaining tickets here.

This tour follows their 2024 world tour and their 2023 album ‘One More Time…’, their first album in over a decade with the original trio of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker after DeLonge left in 2015.

Back in May, the band’s Mark Hoppus spoke to NME about his band’s past rivalry with Green Day, dating back to their shared 2002 ‘Pop Disaster Tour’.

Speaking to NME about the strange competitiveness that the two bands felt towards each other during the tour, Hoppus said: “That was very strange because I grew up listening to Green Day. I literally waited for the day that ‘Dookie’ [1994] came out, and I was in line waiting to buy it.”

“I was a huge fan, then we’re touring with them, but it was a weird thing where Green Day were dipping at the time and Blink were ascendent. We were billed as co-headliners, but Blink were closing every night, and that was a strange sensation for us. Headlining over your idols is a little strange.”

He later added: “We showed up, we thought we were cool, we had a Number One record [‘Take Off Your Pants And Jacket’], we were the first punk band to ever have a Number One record, Green Day were on their way down for a little bit.

“We walked in thinking we were hot shit and Green Day walked in ready to fight – musically of course, they were super cool to us the whole time.”

In the same interview, Hoppus also opened up about his role in “saving the world from Saddam Hussein” and the chance he once had to “make out” with The Cure’s Robert Smith.

Last month, Blink-182’s Travis Barker came together with Tool drummer Danny Carey and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith for a drum-off at Black Sabbath’s final ever show.

It took place midway through the night, and saw the drummers from Tool, Blink-182 and Red Hot Chili Peppers flex their skills while covering the Sabbath track ‘Symptom Of The Universe’.

‘Adolescence’ Co-Creator Says Netflix Hit Started Off ‘Impossible’

by jummy84 August 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Welcome to It’s a Hit! In this series, IndieWire speaks to creators and showrunners behind a few of our favorite television programs about the moment they realized their show was breaking big.

So many things can go wrong on any given project. When they go right, it means that the creators in charge have made a series of decisions that support the story they want to tell. Netflix’s “Adolescence” broke out way bigger than anyone ever expected, and wound up scoring 13 Primetime Emmy nominations.

Decision 1: Actor and producer Stephen Graham approached his frequent collaborator Jack Thorne (“The Virtues,” “Help”) to write the show.

'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 17.

Decision 2: Thorne convinced Graham to write it with him. “I’ve always thought that he was an actor that had a writer within him,” said Thorne to IndieWire over Zoom. “He is instinctively a storyteller. And so I wanted to find a way to harness that side of his brain and use it. He’s nervous about writing, he’s dyslexic, he doesn’t see himself as a writer, but I thought we could find a way to work together that would allow that side of his brain to flower.”

They met on Zooms; as Graham and Thorne talked things through, Thorne finalized dialogue and typed the script into the computer.

Decision 3: They wrote the show to be shot in four episodes as single long takes. “I want this to be about knife crimes,” Graham told Thorne, “and I want this to be in a single take and four episodes.” During the writing process, Thorne realized that “the single take was changing the way I write. I could see the joy of the incomplete. Where, conventionally, I would tell a story was not possible. Writing this show I realized the damage of that rhythm. This kicked me halfway across the road, and I was seeing traffic come towards me. And Stephen was an army captain, he’s ruthless. It’s done with love, and it’s done with care.”

Decision 4: With a rapidly approaching window to shoot the show, Graham and Thorne did something risky. All they had written was Episode 1. “I didn’t want to lose that window, and I didn’t want the project to die,” said Thorne. “Let’s write episodes 2 and 3 on spec and and thankfully, it paid off for us.”

Decision 5: Amazon, the original home of the series, did not want to make the show they wanted to make. So they walked away. “We just didn’t suit what they wanted to do,” said Thorne.

Decision 6: This allowed the two creators to go to Netflix UK. Graham had starred in the Netflix political series “Bodies.” They met with Netflix in January 2024 and were shooting by the summer. “Adolescence” launched production in July 2024 with director Phil Barantini and cinematographer Matthew Lewis, who had both shot the one-take drama “Boiling Point” with Graham. “They knew how to do it,” said Thorne. “The difference was that was a single room, and we weren’t doing single rooms. We were throwing cameras out of trucks. One of my jobs was to write the impossible and let these technically brilliant people work out ways to solve it, because it is always in the impossible that the interesting things happen.”

Decision 7: They fixed Episode 3. The first episode to be filmed was the confrontation between the 13-year-old accused murderer Jamie (Owen Cooper) and his psychologist (Erin Doherty). But Netflix had notes. “We had rehearsal week, tech week, and shoot week,” said Thorne. “Particularly Thursday of tech week, there will be a lot of people around watching the take, because that would be a dress rehearsal for where we were going to go with it. And at that point, any problems with the script would be apparent, and we’d have to get the spanners and the screwdrivers out and fix it, because there was no edit. The script wasn’t a document which then would be taken into filming, which then would be taken into the edit. The script was the story. On Episode 3, Anne Mensah, our Netflix exec, felt like we were taking way too long to get into the room. We slashed the script, and that still felt too ponderous. And so we ended up with [the psychologist] being late. And she was then traveling through the center at triple speed. It was one of those golden processes that happened so rarely, where it felt like everyone wanted to be on the same team.”

Decision 8: Netflix got behind it. The show was screened for content chief Bela Bajaria, who showed it to Co-CEO Ted Sarandos. “They were helping us position it so that it did have an international life,” said Thorne. “They were on it from the start, and they were passionate about it, and they felt like they had something that people will want to see. But that’s not to say it wasn’t a massive surprise. Because we thought we’d made a little show that might have some international interest, but we didn’t think it would do what it did, no one would ever dare. It did well in countries that I wouldn’t expect to be interested in the story of a lad from Pontefract just outside of Doncaster. We weren’t trying to tell a story that would work in America. It was about knife crime, not gun crime. It was local, but when it is specific enough it does work internationally, if given the chance. And that’s not just true of ‘Adolescence,’ that’s true of a lot of stories.”

Once the show aired to raves, Thorne started getting messages from old school friends, people who aren’t in the business. “You became aware of how many people in different countries were watching it and having that response,” said Thorne. “It is partly down to the single shot, and people were interested in the technical prowess that Matt and Phil showed in making the show, and there is an element of the fear of ‘What’s going on with my teenager behind a closed door?’ But the main reason is there was something about the performances that was special. The actors weren’t being required to do Scene 13 from Episode 2, followed by Scene 16 from Episode 3, and then Scene 20 from Episode 6, because we only have the location for the single day. They were actually telling the story of an hour. And they were telling it on their faces.”

Next up: Thorne is working on Sam Mendes’ series of films about The Beatles. That’s all he can say. He also adapted William Golding’s “Lord of the Flies,” directed by Mark London and filmed with 42 boys off the coast of Malaysia.

All episodes of “Adolescence” are now streaming on Netflix.
