The Osbournes hit back at Roger Waters as “a sad, irrelevant, old, miserable, ugly human being”

by jummy84 November 13, 2025

Ozzy Osbourne’s family have hit out at Roger Waters branding him “a sad, irrelevant, old, miserable, ugly human being”.

It comes after the Pink Floyd bassist previously spoke out about The Prince Of Darkness’ death shortly after his passing.

“Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him in his whatever state that he was in his whole life, we’ll never know. Although he was all over the TV for hundreds of years, with his idiocy and nonsense. The music, I have no idea. I couldn’t give a fuck,” Waters said at the time.

Waters went on: “I don’t care about Black Sabbath, I never did. I have no interest in biting the heads of chickens or whatever they do. I couldn’t care less, you know.”

This led to Jack Osbourne hitting out at his comments and defending his late father’s honour.

“Hey Roger Waters, fuck you. How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bullshit in the press. My father always thought you were a c*nt – thanks for proving him right,” he said in response.

Now, Sharon, Jack and Kelly Osbourne have laid into Waters again on the latest episode of The Osbournes Podcast.

Sharon said he was “probably one of the most sick individuals I’ve come across in years,” with Jack responding, “Oh, you talking about my mate Roger?,” before Kelly added: “He’s a fucking c*nt.”

Sharon continued: “He isn’t, ’cause c*nts are good. … He has no charisma. He looks like Frankenstein.”

She went on to say: “The guy is sick in the head. He is not relevant in today’s world. Nobody likes him. It’s not just us. Nobody likes this man. … unless you’re a fascist.”

Sharon added: “I don’t know how those guys in Pink Floyd put up with him as long as they did. … David [Gilmour] is the most gracious, warm person you could ever meet.”

She then summed him up as “a sad, irrelevant, old, miserable human being – a miserable ugly human being.”

Waters has previously denied accusations of antisemitism in his support for Palestine. In 2023, CAA published a documentary of the musician The Dark Side Of Roger Waters. Upon watching it, Waters slammed the film as “a flimsy, unapologetic piece of propaganda”.

The musician has been a longtime supporter of Palestine; most recently, he urged followers on social media not to vote for Kamala Harris or Donald Trump in the upcoming US election due to their respective stances on the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. He has also hit back at other musicians for their various stances on Israel.

Speaking about Waters’ comments on Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon said: “Do you know why he [Waters] did it? He did it because he knows I’m half-Jewish.”

Waters is yet to respond publicly to any of the Osbournes’ comments.

In the past Sharon has hit out at Kneecap, over their stance on supporting Palestinians describing their “whole attitude” as “one of anger, it’s not of peace”. She also called for a “revocation of Kneecap’s work visa”.

The band in response said: “Statements aren’t aggressive, murdering 20,000 children is though.”

Elsewhere in the podcast, the family revealed that Ozzy was secretly hospitalised just two weeks before his final concert and they shared that both Donald Trump and King Charles reached out to them after learning of the Prince Of Darkness’ death.

What’s the future of AI and music? Things may be starting to become clear - National

The future of AI and music is coming into focus. It does not look good for human artists – National

by jummy84 November 2, 2025

The record executives had gathered in the back corner of an exclusive private club, sipping from crystal highball glasses, each with a large square ice cube. A bottle of 40-year-old Macallan, already two-thirds empty, sat on the table.

“Artists are so difficult,” the Brit complained. “They’re finicky, unreliable, and refuse to believe that creativity should be something that turns on like a light switch. I mean, how hard can it be?

The petite woman from Seoul in charge of most of the music market in East Asia spoke next. “It’s true,” she said, “And they’re always whining about being mistreated. ‘Streaming doesn’t pay’ and ‘I need more money.’ I never want to hear anyone on my label complain about having to post things on social media every day. I mean, how hard is it to go viral with every post?”

The Sao Paulo man rubbed the bridge of his nose. “And the fans! They’re so unpredictable — and ungrateful when it comes to the music we give them. Can’t they just consume and shut up?”

There were a few moments of silence before the American stood up. “Ladies and gentlemen, those were the bad old days. Thanks to artificial intelligence, we are now in complete control of ALL the music.” He raised his glass and everyone stood up.

“Congratulations, everyone! We have finally managed to take the artist out of art!”

They clinked their glasses so hard that two of them cracked.

A far-fetched dystopian view of the music of the future? Or the shape of things to come? I’d vote for the latter.

If you watch the music charts, you may have noticed the debut of someone named Xania Monet on the American Billboard Radio Airplay Chart. She does not exist. She — it — became the first AI creation to chart. I quote from the press release:

“The announcement follows a string of impressive accomplishments for the virtual songstress, who has quickly become one of the most talked-about names in the emerging AI music space. The historic milestone marks a defining moment for the intersection of technology and creativity, proving that digital artistry can achieve mainstream success alongside traditional talent.

“On social media, Xania continues to gain traction with a fast-growing following and strong engagement across platforms. Her visuals, storytelling, and evolving persona have sparked widespread discussion about the role of AI in music — not just as a tool, but as a creative collaborator. Earlier this year, Xania secured a reported $3 million deal with Hallwood Media, further establishing her as one of the most valuable and visible AI artists to date.

“Beyond her musical success, Xania’s rise represents a shift in how audiences connect with creators. Her presence on the Billboard Airplay Chart challenges long-held ideas about authenticity in music, while her massive online following underscores a new kind of fan relationship — one built around curiosity, creativity, and cultural conversation.”

Again, Xania only exists as soulless binary code. She doesn’t need food, water, or sleep. She’ll never complain, get sick, or die of a drug overdose. She will do whatever she is told to do with zero pushback. And she’s making money for her creators while taking attention away from real artists.

Expect more of this sort of thing. Last week, Universal Music, the world’s biggest major label, announced a landmark deal with Udio, an AI company with a program that creates full songs from text prompts. Universal had launched a lawsuit against Udio, claiming that the company was scraping copyrighted material for the training of their AI models with asking for permission or paying anyone from the privilege. Now they’re on the same side, revealing a joint venture where they’ll launch “music creation, consumption and streaming” service sometime in 2026.

Further down in the announcement, there’s this: “In addition to the compensatory legal settlement, the new license agreements for recorded music and publishing will provide further revenue opportunities for UMG artists and songwriters.” Those copyright infringement charges? Dropped. Gone. Poof.

And there it is: The world’s largest record company will soon offer its artist to an AI company so that it can crank out more non-existent singers like Xania Monet. They claim that artists used in this training will be compensated, but what they’re actually doing is giving human-created art to a robot that may eventually make human artists endangered if not extinct.

Udio is not alone. What does this mean for Suno and other generative AI music platforms who are also being sued by labels, Universal among them? Will other labels follow what appears to be a template created by Universal and Udio? What does this “licensing” look like? Which artists will opt in and who will chose not to?

Will publishers choose not to participate? If they do, will they need consent from their artists? Performing rights organizations, including Canada’s SOCAN, announced last week they’re all-for-one-and-one-for all when it comes to accepting registrations of partially AI-generated music.

In other words, they’re preparing for the onslaught creators who will use AI as a tool in music-making. Hey, Xania may be a fake, but she — it — has to be paid. Or at least the people being her do.

So many questions.

What of music fans? The vast majority of surveys and studies I’ve seen echo this one where fans say human creativity is essential in the time of AI. Here’s a Canadian music industry study from two years ago that uncovered something similar.

But 0ther studies (like this one) are comparing the emotional impact of AI-generated vs. human-composed music and learning something very different. Researchers in Argentina had 88 subjects watch music videos from both humans (“human-created music,” or HCM) and AI-generated music built from prompts of varying sophistication.

Using biometric data such as pupil dilation, they found that there was little difference in reactions to HCM and AI-generated. I quote: “Participants found AI-generated music more arousing that HCM, while HCM was perceived as more familiar than both AI conditions.”

This is music (so to speak) to the ears of those who want to follow the AI path of music making.

And make no mistake. Attitudes toward AI-generated music are already changing, and fan engagement is being shaped by AI. And don’t be surprised if you hear more about the ELIZA effect. This is a psychological situation where those who co-exist with AI entities — chatbots, AI assistants, AI agents — become emotionally attached to those unreal “personalities.” This will only intensify as more people turn to AI for casual interactions, self-help therapy, romance, and sex chats. Getting emotionally involved with an AI music entity will be easy.

Story continues below advertisement

Musicians already have it rough and are feeling really, really cheated. Let me paraphrase something from a musician I saw on Threads the other day addressing the rise of easy-to-use AI-generated music: “I spent years learning to play an instrument, and honing my craft on stage and in the studio. You typed a few words into your phone. We are not the same.”

AI is already on its way to destroying musicians and the music business. Think of the implications for the sales of musical instruments, the existence of recording studios, people who teach music for a living at all levels. A whole class of creatives could be wiped out as something as human as music is handed over to machines.

My favourite take on AI and music is this: “I want AI to do my laundry so I have more time for making art.” We’re already there. Why not go in that direction instead?

Watch Brandi Carlile Perform ‘Church & State,’ ‘Human’

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Both are from the Grammy-winning artist’s new solo album, Returning to Myself

Brandi Carlile returned to the Saturday Night Live stage with performances of two songs from her eighth studio album, Returning to Myself, which she released last week.

The acclaimed singer-songwriter first sang about a “failing empire” in “Church & State,” which she wrote with Andrew Watt and twin brothers Phil and Tim Hanseroth.

Carlile’s first solo album since 2021’s In These Silent Days, Returning to Myself came after years of collaborations—with Elton John and Joni Mitchell—and playing in the country supergroup the Highwomen, as well as being in charge of music festivals like Girls Just Wanna Weekend and her Looking Out Foundation.

“Everybody came out of Covid with all this toxic energy, including myself,” Carlile explained to Rolling Stone in a recent interview. “I just wanted to explode onto the scene and accomplish and collaborate and be everywhere and do everything. And I think there’s been a little fallout from that. People pushed themselves to the limits of their mental health, in terms of what they were willing to do to make up for lost time.”

Carlile, making her fourth musical guest appearance on SNL, also played “Human”—second on the track list of her latest work.

Carlile was most recently on the late night show in early April with John just after the release of their album Who Believes in Angels?

Carlile’s the Human Tour in support of Returning to Myself begins in February on the east coast. That fall, she’ll be in Ireland, the U.K., then mainland Europe.

Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows has defended the video message he recorded for two Israeli hostages after their release.

  • Read More: Avenged Sevenfold on dividing fans: “Being willing to risk everything is the most liberating thing”

The singer recorded a message for Evyatar David and Guy Gilboa-Dalal, with the latter being a diehard fan of the band and saying that their music helped him get through his time in captivity.

In the message, he said that was “so excited to hear you are home,” adding: “The things you guys have been through are unspeakable, terrible.”

Gilboa-Dalal said: “Yesterday we listened to their songs. It was overwhelming. It was so much better than imagining it for two years. It felt like my soul had left my body. I’m not even joking. I can’t believe he made this video.”

We’re so deeply grateful for you, @shadows_eth. Your incredible support over these past two years has meant the world to us. pic.twitter.com/coHz3c4hIc

He and David are two of the remaining living hostages released by Hamas earlier this month after spending over two years in captivity in Gaza, while Israel has freed almost 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and detainees (per BBC News) following a deal brokered by the US.

Shadows’ decision to send the message proved divisive – some fans have praised it while others have accused the band of not being vocal about Palestine – but he has explained to Rolling Stone that it wasn’t a political one.

The singer, who revealed that the band lost two “friends” when Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, said: “It’s not something that I’m going to worry about; I know that it’s the right thing to do. I think you have to stick to your moral compass, but I’ve definitely heard it from both sides.

“To me, that video is just a human doing something for another human. It’s not making a political stance. It’s not sticking it in someone’s eye. It really is about two human beings that have been through hell. And if we can’t agree on that, it’s really hard to agree on anything.”

He continued: “We’ve done things for a lot of different people across different cultures and different religions. And at the end of the day, if they’re fans, we really want to reach out and we want to support them in some sort of way. And so it just seems unfair — [this idea that] ‘if you’re not on my side, then you’re an enemy.’ It’s really kind of gross.”

Avenged Sevenfold has a sizable fanbase in Israel, and they’ve played there in the past, and Shadows said about David and Gilboa-Dalal: “I’ve not heard from them yet. But I’m sure we will play over there and do something for them.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Shadows said that he respected Disturbed frontman David Draiman, who has been vocally pro-Israel and signed an Israeli Defence Forces artillery shell last year.

Earlier this month, a Disturbed show was cancelled in Belgium following threats of protests outside the venue, and Shadows said of Draiman: “I really respect David, not just for where he stands, but that he believes in something and he’s full-force into it.”

Avenged Sevenfold, meanwhile, had to postpone their Latin American tour dates, scheduled to begin last month, due to an vocal injury to Shadows. The dates are rescheduled for January 2026.

SZA Speaks on Environmental Disaster, Al, & Human Suffering: “My Government Doesn’t Give a F* If I Live or Die”

SZA is voicing her frustration with the state of the world — from politics and the environment to social issues — in a passionate message that quickly went viral.

In a lengthy post shared online, the Grammy-winning artist expressed deep concern over a wide range of global crises, from oil drilling in Alaska’s wildlife preserve and child marriage laws to mass layoffs affecting Black women and environmental collapse.

She highlighted topics including toxic waste dumping, the coral reef’s decline, and humanitarian crises in Sudan and the Congo, writing that people seem more focused on distractions than real issues.

“People starving and dying in Sudan + Congo but nobody cares cause they’re Black + everyone wants the new iPhone,” SZA wrote.

The “Kill Bill” singer also warned against AI misuse, mass pollution, and online propaganda, saying the constant cycle of negativity is mentally exhausting:

“I feel crazy tryna sell anything, drop anything, think anything, be anything but stressed the f*** out… but we persist I guess chile. Y’all okay? Imma get off the net lol.”

SZA’s candid message sparked wide discussion across social media, with many fans praising her for articulating the anxiety and disillusionment many people feel amid today’s chaos.

Combining vanilla with woody notes isn’t unheard of (Case in point: Another editor-beloved scent, 7 Virtues’ Vanilla Woods.) But as the name suggests, Only Human is all about tapping into the sensual alchemy of two people connecting — per the brand, it’s rumored to smell a bit different on everyone, à la Glossier You.

When Suniel Shetty Opened Up About Rescuing 400 Girls From Human Trafficking, “We Had The Underworld After Us…”

Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty is a renowned personality and is fondly called Anna, meaning elder brother. The actor once did a daring act of rescuing around four hundred girls in a human trafficking operation. The actor once opened up about it and spoke about his mother-in-law, Vipula Kadri’s involvement.

Suniel Shetty is a versatile actor who has made remarkable movies in the film industry. As he continues contributing to Indian cinema, he once shared the brave thing he did years back. He spoke about how the underworld was behind them for the rescue operation. Keep scrolling for the deets.

A Secret Operation Of Rescuing 400 Girls

In an interview with Zoom, Suniel Shetty got candid about the human-trafficking operation where he helped rescue 400 girls. He revealed that he and his mother-in-law used to run an NGO called Trafficking in India, but they changed it to Vipla Foundation later. His mother-in-law and other NGOs got together and took the initiative to rescue 400 girls. Shetty also explained that he never spoke about it because this could have been harmful, and these things happened with the highest level of confidential team, apart from the CM, and then the police commissioner.

Suniel Shetty Revealed The Real Hero Behind The Operation

Suniel Shetty said, “The only reason I’m speaking to you about this is because I know how to be put right, and the only reason I need to talk about it is also because I’m not the hero of this. I was a messenger, and yes, I did whatever that I did. After that, there were a lot of people who helped me manage this, but the credit belongs to unearthing this and everything and having the guts to do it was my mother-in-law.”

He continued, “For me to talk to you was only and only reason is that I’m not the hero. I was one of the character actors. The hero was my mother-in-law and her NGO and the other NGOs that supported her. The heroes were the Mumbai police and the officials who supported it.”

The Hera Pheri star shared that he was always working with his mother-in-law, who is an inspiring figure in his life. Shetty puts her on the same pedestal as his own mother. Suniel also revealed how the underworld was after them because of their bravery. He recalled, “We had the underworld after us after that, but we managed, thanks to good friends and the police and the department.”

Suniel Shetty recalled how Jet Airways came forward to help them in their initiative and gave a shout-out to Naresh Goel and his wife. He says one cannot forget the contribution of all these people to this great cause. The actor opened up about it 26 years later because he feels it is wrong to credit him alone for what happened back then.

On the work front, Suniel Shetty has Welcome to The Jungle and Hera Pheri 3 in the pipeline.

Venice 2025: ‘Human Resource’ is a Clever Modern Workplace Satire

by Alex Billington
September 7, 2025

It’s time to get real: capitalism is going to kill us all. Most of the world is living in a capitalist hell, but we’re stuck in it and there’s not much anyone can do. The endlessly futile game of jobs, resumes, bosses, bonuses, time off, promotions, contracts, incentives, interviews, HR, and everything else that makes everyone cringe. There’s a trend within cinema these days with films subtly, slyly commenting on this capitalist hellscape, from Ruben Ostlund’s Triangle of Sadness to Mark Mylod’s The Menu to Boots Riley’s Sorry to Bother You to Alex Scharfman’s Death of a Unicorn, and everything else. The latest film to join the party is a Thai film called Human Resource, made by filmmaker Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit as his 8th feature film so far. It just premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival in the Orizzonti section, though it’s so damn good it really should’ve been playing in the Main Competition. What makes Human Resource unique is that it is a much more dour, depressing film following a woman in Bangkok who works at a company. However, it’s a hilariously bleak satire that makes Nawapol out to be Thailand’s Ruben Ostlund with a dash Roy Andersson.

Human Resource is both written and directed by Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit, set in the bustling, modern city of Bangkok. Prapamonton Eiamchan stars as Fren, a quiet, contemplative young woman who works in the HR department. “Fren closely observes people’s lives through interviews with numerous young new hires at her unjust company.” She also just found she’s pregnant, and seems to be entirely unsure of what to do next in life. What is the point of all of this? What is the point of bringing a child into this broken world? The film takes a bit to get going – at first it’s slightly confusing why we’re following this woman, or what the story will be, or what’s going on. But it eventually settles in and then things get hilarious. There are perfectly crafted ironical scenes straight out of a Roy Andersson film, and funny moments showing just how absurd and empty and pointless life is in this capitalist hell. Everyone needs work, everyone is desperate to keeping working, to make money – in order to go home & then do nothing, with empty lives where nothing exciting ever happens. Then they go to sleep, wake up and eat breakfast, and repeat this cycle over & over. To what end? As bleak and melancholic as this film is, I found my laughter getting louder & louder as it continues on.

By the end of the film I was ready to admit: this is brilliant, just amazing filmmaking. I loved this film, even though it’s painful to watch at times. I laughed way louder than I should’ve at some of the most unsettling shots (like the pile of ash). The fact that Nawapol is smart enough to show these images, to let the camera linger, in order to make sure it has an impact on viewers, is part of the brilliance. This is clever filmmaking. It’s extremely dark, yet exceptionally sharp, in its perfectly depicted sly criticism of the what-are-we-even-doing-anymore hell we all live in nowadays. I doubt it’ll wake anyone up from the delusions they’re living in. I doubt it’ll suddenly cause the world to stop being so obsessed with capitalism & corporations. But it totally slays anyway. As depressing and dismal as the film is, I still found plenty of joy in this expression of angst using cinema to make us laugh while we wince at this reality we’re all stuck in. Fren is superbly expressive in her subtle mannerisms that convey frustration with the world, and it’s a relief to spend time with a character who’s also just so fucking tired of all this. Sometimes a cinematic cathartic release is helpful. Sometimes it’s wickedly entertaining to see a filmmaker who completely gets it put all this on screen for us to reflect upon…
