written by jummy84

A brand new two-part docuseries has been confirmed to air on U&GOLD in 2026, celebrating the 45th anniversary of Only Fools and Horses.

The series, titled Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive, will feature never-seen-before footage uncovered in the archive from over 10 classic episodes, including fan favourites such as The Jolly Boys’ Outing and Mother Nature’s Son.

Other new discoveries set to feature include new material from He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Uncle, Mother Nature’s Son, Time on Our Hands, and an unseen opening scene of Del and Rodney in a nightclub from Class of ’62 which was previously thought to be lost forever.

Meanwhile, additional footage features Bee Gees star Barry Gibb making repeated retakes, which cost production hours as Del Boy and Rodney were sent up and down the river to capture the right shot in Miami Twice.

The documentary will also feature new interviews with cast and crew, including Sir David Jason (Del Boy), Tessa Peake-Jones (Raquel), Gwyneth Strong (Cassandra), Sue Holderness (Marlene Boyce), Steven Woodcock (Jevon) and Denis Lill (Alan Parry).

Interviews with Mike Jones (co-author of Lovely Jubbly), Perry Aghajanoff (chairman of the Only Fools and Horses Appreciation Society), Chris Wadsworth (editor) and Tony Dow (director) will also been seen in the series.

Patti Smith: Horses Album Review

Patti Smith: Horses Album Review

by jummy84 November 9, 2025
written by jummy84

The austere reggae of “Redondo Beach” is like a three-minute film treatment, a story of overcast beachgoers grieving a girl, the narrator’s lover, lost to “sweet suicide”: “You’ll never return into my arms cause you were gone, gone,” she despairs, though the tune’s overall effect is bewilderingly playful. In live shows, Smith would reportedly introduce the song saying it was about “a beach where women love other women.” She rejected Horses’ queerness as autobiography, but the songs still created new paradigms, inventing roles in the schema of rock for women seducing women, women mourning women, women protecting women, women intoning “Ohh, she looks so good, oooh she looks so fine” and “20,000 girls/Called their names out to me,” aware that in its way it was radical.

“Free Money” was the first song Smith and Kaye penned together, and Smith wrote the lyric “Scoop the pearls from the sea, cash them in and buy you all the things you need” with another woman in mind: her mother. Smith had watched her parents struggle all her life. The song’s blazing dream of winning some fantastical lotto and making something from nothing feels rooted intuitively in a working-class consciousness. The steadiness and structure of “Free Money” mirror the relief she longs to deliver; its ecstatic build becomes the voyage she’s desperate to share. As a kid, Smith’s own aesthetic inspiration was free, from trashed issues of Vogue, stolen poetry volumes, and public art museums. That Blondie eventually echoed “Free Money”’s message—dreaming is free—underscores its perfect distillation of an essential punk virtue.

The apotheosis of Smith’s ambition, “Land,” is an epic nine-minute triptych and semi-apocalyptic hero’s journey, a cut-up of angels and ancient wisdom and a band called Twistelletes. The first act weaves three Smith vocal takes into an unnerving inner monologue about “Johnny,” a boy who is viciously assaulted, depicting the stampede of brutal reality as “horses, horses, horses.” Next a hairpin turn takes us suddenly to a dance hall. Smith quotes from the live-wire abandon of Chris Kenner’s 1962 classic “Land of a Thousand Dances,” a parade of teen dance crazes: “Do you know how to Pony like Bony Moronie?” she hollers. “Then you mashed potato!” “Do the alligator!” “Do the Watusi!” “Land” is ultimately an action painting of jaunty keys and single hammered chords and pure corporality, circling the fact that “life is filled with holes,” “full of pain,” Smith sings, but it’s worth living. (A Creem reporter, Tony Glover, was present for the Horses sessions, and after watching Smith spend seven possessed hours mixing “Land,” her fingers at the controls, he wrote, “I had trouble sleeping for several days.”)

‘Slow Horses’ pays subtle tribute to Gary Oldman’s ‘The Dark Knight’ co-star Heath Ledger

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

The writers of Slow Horses appear to have hidden a tribute to Heath Ledger in the fifth season of the show.

Gary Oldman plays the lead character Jackson Lamb in the Apple TV spy comedy series, and also starred as Lt. Gordon in Christopher Nolan’s beloved 2008 film The Dark Knight, and in episode five of the new season of Slow Horses, the two streams appeared to cross.

In a scene in which he becomes frustrated with his colleague, Oldman’s character snaps, “When you talk, I wanna stick a pencil in my eye and headbutt the table!”

Fans have speculated that this could be a sly reference to a memorable scene in The Dark Knight in which Ledger’s Joker intimidates a group of organised criminals by asking, “How about a magic trick?” before slamming a pencil into the table. “I’m going to make the pencil disappear,” he adds.

As one of the mob confronts him, the Joker smashed his head eye-first through the pencil. “Ta-da!” he exclaims. “It’s gone.”

Ledger passed away at the age of 28, before The Dark Knight was even released in 2008, and went on to pick up an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his iconic role in the film.

Many of Ledger’s co-stars have continued to express their sorrow at his loss in recent years, including Paul Bettany, who said last month that he continues to be unable to rewatch A Knight’s Tale because he misses his co-star so much.

Earlier this year, Michael Caine, who played the butler Alfred in The Dark Knight, said he was left “terrified” by Ledger’s performance. “The smeared makeup, the weird hair, the strange voice. It was chilling,” he wrote. “Absolutely floored me the first time I saw him in action – I was terrified”.

The Slow Horses season five final was on October 29, but it has already been commissioned for a sixth season.

Slow Horses

No spy drama better blends suspense with wry and even slapstick humor than this adaptation of Mick Herron’s terrific novels about the disgraced spies who occupy Slough House. As Season 5 passes the midway point, the “slow horses” are in full gallop as they pair off to try to avert what they will believe will be an assassination attempt at one or both competing rallies for London’s mayoral race. Elsewhere, their decrepit yet cunning boss Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman) continues to stay one step ahead of the MI5 officers seeking the femme fatale who snared Slough House techie Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung) in her web.

Elio

Elio

For centuries, people have called out to the universe looking for answers. In this fun-filled, action-packed feature film from Disney and Pixar, the universe calls back! The cosmic misadventure introduces Elio, a space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession. So, when he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide, Elio’s all in for the epic undertaking. Mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, Elio must form new bonds with eccentric alien life-forms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be.

Nick Gehlfuss as Dr. Will Halstead, Torrey DeVitto as Dr. Natalie Manning in 'Chicago Med' Season 11 Episode 3

George Burns Jr / NBC

Chicago Med

Seems like old times when original cast member Torrey DeVitto returns to Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, though not under the best of circumstances — because Dr. Natalie Manning is rushing to be with her son Owen (Frankie DeMaio), who was shot while visiting Chicago from Seattle with his stepdad Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss). Which means there’s little time for “Manstead” shippers to rejoice over news that she’s carrying their child when her firstborn’s life is in jeopardy. In other cases, Ripley (Luke Mitchell) teams with Charles (Oliver Platt) to treat a patient who can’t remember who he is.

Murdaugh Death in the Family

Hulu

Murdaugh: Death in the Family

The stuff of many a Dateline and true-crime podcast, the tragic saga of the scandalous Murdaugh family of South Carolina now gets the deluxe docudrama treatment, with the very busy Jason Clarke (currently rounding up bad guys on Apple TV’s The Last Frontier) starring as wealthy but embattled lawyer Alex Murdaugh, with Oscar and Emmy winner Patricia Arquette as his unlucky wife, Maggie. The sordid eight-part story, previously depicted in a 2023 Lifetime drama, begins with the double murder of Maggie and son Paul (Johnny Berchtold) in 2021, then reaches back three years to an earlier scandal when Paul was implicated in a fatal boat crash. Brittany Snow costars as reporter Mandy Matney (who’s also an executive producer), whose work on the case is the basis for this eight-part treatment. Launches with three episodes.

Netflix

Six Kings Slam

Six of the world’s most prominent men’s tennis stars gather at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the second annual exhibition match, which could result in a rematch of last year’s contest that pitted the two top-ranked players, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, in a thrilling final. Sinner won that contest, while Alcaraz is hoping for a repeat of his recent U.S. Open victory against Sinner. In the first round, No. 3-ranked Alexander Zverev plays No. 4 Taylor Fritz, then Sinner takes on No. 24-ranked Stefanos Tsitsipas (a late substitution for an injured Jack Draper). The winners will play against Alcaraz and No. 3-ranked Novak Djokovic on Thursday, with a grand final scheduled for Saturday.

Nicole Beharie in 'The Morning Show' Season 4

Apple TV+

The Morning Show

In a powerful episode for the luminous Nicole Beharie, her character of decorated Olympic track star-turned-morning show host Chris Turner is dragged into a painful media spotlight when online rumors challenge her sports legacy. Her greatest ally appears to be Mia (Karen Pittman), the disgruntled TMS producer who returns to UBN on a confrontational mission. Also heading for a reckoning: Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) and former network CEO Cory (Billy Crudup), whose budding romance cloaks her investigation into a dark chapter of the network’s past.

Only Fools and Horses legend Patrick Murray dies, aged 68

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Patrick Murray, best known for playing Mickey Pearce in Only Fools and Horses, has died aged 68.

Murray became a household name for his portrayal of the cheeky, boastful wheeler-dealer Mickey Pearce – a fixture in the beloved BBC sitcom from 1983 to 2003.

Known for his comic timing and swaggering self-confidence, Murray’s character often clashed with Rodney Trotter (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and was famed for his tall tales of business success.

He appeared in 20 episodes across the show’s 22-year run, helping make Only Fools and Horses one of the most popular British comedies of all time.

A statement shared by an Only Fools and Horses fan account on X read: “It is with heartfelt sadness that we report the death of our friend Patrick Murray – Mickey Pearce to so many. He was a regular attendee of our conventions, and we will miss his humour and the joy he brought to many.”

Born in London, Murray spent several years living in Thailand, where he married his wife Anong in 2016. The couple had one daughter, Josie.

Murray remained closely associated with Only Fools and Horses throughout his life, often attending fan conventions and reunions.

Outside of the BBC sitcom, Murray built up a varied career on both the big and small screen.

He first made his mark in the late 1970s, appearing alongside Ray Winstone in both the BBC television play Scum and its 1979 film adaptation. That same year, he featured in the cult classic Quadrophenia, sharing the screen with Sting, Toyah Willcox, Michael Elphick and Timothy Spall.

He went on to appear in films including Curse of the Pink Panther (1983), as well as several television roles throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

NFL predictions: Ndamukong Suh picks Super Bowl contenders, dark horses, MVP and players to watch

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Both the Eagles and Chiefs are among the teams expected to get back to the big game but who are the other sides to watch? Who will end the season as MVP? Which defensive and offensive players will stand out? And who are the dark horses?

To answer all those questions, RadioTimes.com sat down with NFL legend and Sky Sports pundit Ndamukong Suh to get his predictions for the season ahead.

Ndamukong Suh’s NFL 2025 predictions

Super Bowl contenders

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images

“I think there are going to be a lot of teams that have an opportunity to win. I think the strongest conference will be the NFC but there are a couple of teams I think have an opportunity to get to the Super Bowl.

“I have to mention the Kansas City Chiefs. I would also say the Detroit Lions. I think the Washington Commanders as well. And of course, the Philadelphia Eagles seem like they’re rebuilding every single year to make that hard push to get into the Super Bowl.

“Those are my kind of top four teams as of right now that I think have a legit chance to get there as of right now.”

Dark horses

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, in white, blue and orange NFL uniform, hands off the American football to running back D'Andre Swift, with Bears and Kansas City Chiefs players in the background.

“I’ve just got a good feeling about my dark horses being the Chicago Bears. I think Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams are going to find a way to create havoc in that black and blue division of the NFC North.

“Ultimately, I mean, it’s fair game for anybody and everybody. Everybody is at 00:00 today. We’ll see after week one how things shape up but even then. I mean, it’s so early in the season. The season, honestly, hasn’t even started yet.”

MVP

Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson, in purple and black NFL uniform, prepares to throw an American football.

“My MVP for this year is Lamar Jackson. And the reason I’m picking him is I believe he and the Baltimore Ravens understand this is kind of a ‘put up or shut up’ year.

“He’s going to have to have an MVP season to be able to dethrone the two nemeses of his career – Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs – to win that Conference (the AFC) and go from there.”

Defensive player to watch

Green Bay Packers Micah Parsons, in a yellow hat and a green, yellow and blue jumper, gestures as he speaks in front of a Green Bay Packers sponsors board.

“The player I’m most excited to watch outside of my defensive tackles? That would have to be Micah Parsons.

“I think as long as he stays healthy, you’re going to see a Green Bay Packers defence that is built around him to have success. I feel like they made that trade as their next version of Reggie White to come in and take them to a Super Bowl and have an opportunity to go and win it.”

Offensive player to watch

Saquon Barkley, in green and white NFL uniform, celebrates with his Philadelphia Eagles teammates in the end zone.

“The non-quarterback to stand out this year? It’s a tough one. I mean, I think my easy answer would be Saquon Barkley. I think he back doors his successful season.

“He may not have a record-breaking year, but he’s still going to be a massive force to be dealt with. He’s obviously the linchpin and cornerstone of the Philadelphia Eagles team and offence.”

Patti Smith is reissuing her seminal 1975 debut album Horses to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The newly remastered edition arrives October 10 in 2xLP and 2xCD formats via Legacy Recordings. It includes alternate takes of album tracks, Smith’s original 1975 audition tape for RCA, and four previously unreleased songs: “Distant Fingers,” “The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game,” “We Three,” and “Snowball,” the latter of which is out today. Listen to it below.

Smith published the memoir Bread of Angels last year. In the autumn, she’ll embark on a string of tour dates performing Horses in its entirety across Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States. As part of the Soundwalk Collective alongside Philip Glass and Mulatu Astatke, Smith put out two albums, The Peyote Dance and Mummer Love, in 2019.

Read about the Horses tracks “Land” and “Gloria: In Excelsis Deo” at No. 93 and No. 20, respectively, on “The 200 Best Songs of the 1970s.”
