“A creeping, psychological dread that settles into your bones…” Magnolia Pictures has revealed an official trailer for a found footage indie horror film creation titled Man Finds Tape, made by two filmmakers from Austin, Texas. This first premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival, and it also showed at Fantasy Filmfest, Beyond Fest, Sitges, and the Telluride Horror Show. Now set to open in December if anyone wants to watch. After finding mysterious video clips, siblings investigate the strange recordings and uncover a disturbing secret spreading through their Texas town. This unsettling new supernatural thriller is a singular, chilling debut from the Texas native filmmakers Paul Gandersman and Peter S. Hall. Man Finds Tape stars Kelsey Pribilski, William Magnuson, John Gholson, & Brian Villalobos. Many critics’ quotes in this trailer praising the film and how scary and twisted it is. Reviews also say: “Man Finds Tape is a reminder of how in horror, a good idea and a band of supportive collaborators is all you ever really need.” An eerie little thriller.

Lucas Page’s (William Magnuson) YouTube channel called “Man Finds Tape” features a series of creepy home videos. When he reaches out to his sister, Lynn (Kelsey Pribilski), with surveillance footage of a murder in their hometown, she reluctantly returns to help him investigate the homicide. In doing so, Lynn uncovers a disturbing secret tied to a decades-old supernatural phenomena that casts doubt on whether anyone in town can be trusted. The arrival of a stranger (Brian Villalobos) with destructive intentions forces Lynn to confront her family’s role in a terrifying legend tied to a deadly monster stalking Larkin, TX. Man Finds Tape is written and directed by indie filmmakers Peter S. Hall & Paul Gandersman, both making their feature directorial debuts after working on many other short films previously. Produced by Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, David Lawson Jr, and Ashley Landavazo. This initially premiered at 2025 Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year. Beatles Biopics Cast Wives, Ariana Joins ‘Horror Story’

The upcoming Beatles biopics have rounded out four important members of their casts. Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood and Mia McKenna-Bruce will each portray one of the Fab Four’s spouses in The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event, which will be released by Sony Pictures in April 2028.

Ronan will star as Paul McCartney’s first wife Linda Eastman, Sawai as John Lennon’s second wife Yoko Ono, Wood as George Harrison’s first wife Pattie Boyd and McKenna-Bruce as Ringo Starr’s first wife Maureen Starkey. Harris Dickenson, Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn and Barry Keoghan were previously cast as Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr.

“Maureen, Linda, Yoko and Pattie are four fascinating and unique figures in their own right, and I’m thrilled that we’ve managed to persuade four of the most talented women working in film today to join this amazing adventure,” says director Sam Mendes.

Each of the four films centers around one of the Beatles from their pre-fame days in early 1960s Liverpool through their unceremonious 1970 breakup, during which their spouses played key roles in shaping their lives and music.

McCartney and Eastman met in 1967 while the latter was working as a rock photographer. After the Beatles’ split, McCartney drafted Eastman, a novice musician, to join his band Wings, and they were married until Eastman’s cancer-related death in 1998. Ono and Lennon met in 1966 when he was still married to his first wife, Cynthia; they divorced in 1968, and Lennon and Ono were wed the following year. They remained together until Lennon’s 1980 murder; Ono is now 92 and still lives in the couple’s New York apartment.

Harrison and Boyd met on the set of the 1964 movie A Hard Day’s Night and married two years later. They divorced in 1977 after Boyd had an affair with Harrison’s best friend Eric Clapton, to whom she was married from 1979-89. Starkey and Starr started dating in 1962 when she was a 16-year-old hairdresser in Liverpool. They were married from 1965-75 and their three children include Zak Starkey, who has drummed for the Who and Oasis. Maureen Starkey passed away in 1994 after battling leukemia.

In related news, Ariana Grande will be part of the cast for the 13th season of American Horror Story, which will be out sometime next year. She joins Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, and Jessica Lange in the long-running, Ryan Murphy-led series. Grande previously appeared in Murphy’s 2014 TV series Scream Queens.

“The blood-soaked musical of your dreams!” Dark Star Pictures has revealed the bonkers official US trailer for a wicked crazy, one-of-a-kind, indie horror creation called Chainsaw Were Singing from Estonian filmmaker Sander Maran (who did all the VFX & SFX in addition to directing). Yes, indeed, this is a horror musical riff on Texas Chain Saw Massacre and other slashers. “Nearly 10 years in the making, this bastard child of Stephen Sondheim and Lloyd Kaufman is an utterly indescribable Estonian odyssey.” It premiered at many genre film festivals in 2024, including at Fantasia & Fantastic Fest, and it will be out on VOD in the US this November. A zany, gonzo, blood-soaked musical about lovers split up by a chainsaw-wielding killer. Over a decade in the making, this colorful murder-fest is part gory horror movie + part ridiculous musical. Along the way, they encounter some trigger-happy, pastry-loving cops, a helpful little hedgehog, a shitload of exploding cars + a cult that worships a talking fridge full of nauseating contents. Starring Karl-Joosep Ilves, Laura Niils, Janno Puusepp, Martin Ruus, Rita Rätsepp. It’s described as “Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets Monty Python in [an] award-winning wacky Cannibal Musical.” Looks like a blast! EXCLUSIVE: J.R. Ramirez (Power) and child actor Emilio Del Real are set to lead The Mouth of the Furnace (La Boca del Horno), a horror-fantasy film from Colombian writer-director Felipe Vargas (Rosario) that has entered production in the Dominican Republic.

A reimagining of one of Colombia’s most popular folktales, The Mouth of the Furnace centers on a lonely prospector’s son who discovers a shadowy creature that offers a tempting — but deadly — way out of his impoverished town.

Vargas has tapped Autonomous FX to bring to life the monster at the heart of the story. The film is being produced by Selene Films founder Sterlyn Ramírez (Boca Chica, Zafari), Spark Features co-founder Robina Riccitiello (Rebuilding, Dìdi), and Yvette Yates Redick and Shaun Redick of Impossible Dream Entertainment (Get Out, BlacKkKlansman). Yuneidys Lachapell is line producing, with Felix M. García, Kristen Riccitiello, Josh Peters, and Ramirez are serving as executive producers.

“This project is a personal journey with Latino historical roots, and I’m thrilled to see this vision come to life with such a talented team led by a Colombian director — Felipe Vargas,” said producer Ramírez. “We are building an environment and story that is terrifying yet emotionally resonant — and which will spark the interest of a wide audience while honoring the rich heritage of Latin American folklore.”

In a joint statement, Impossible Dream’s Shaun Redick and Yvette Yates Redick added, “What Felipe has created is hauntingly beautiful — a frightening story steeped in Latin American mythology yet universal in its emotional power. The Mouth of the Furnace delivers the kind of visceral, emotional genre experience audiences crave.”

Vargas is a rising filmmaker who broke out with Milk Teeth, a thriller short set at an orphanage that continues to expand its reach on YouTube with over 12 million views and counting. The multi-hyphenate recently made his feature directorial debut with Rosario, a horror film starring Emeraude Toubia and David Dastmalchian that released in theaters earlier this year. Most recently, he’s been tapped to pen a big-screen adaptation of Bob the Builder for Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel, with Anthony Ramos to star and produce alongside Jennifer Lopez. He is repped by Magnolia Entertainment, Verve, and Gang, Tyre, Ramer.

Best known for starring in both Starz’s Power and the NBC/Netflix series Manifest, Ramirez recently appeared in Netflix’s medical drama Pulse and will be seen coming up in Amazon’s faith-based It’s Not Like That. He is repped by Gersh, Mathews Management, and attorney Lawrence M. Kopeikin.

This premiered last year at the 2024 Sitges and Austin Film Festivals and a few others, and will be out on VOD soon. A struggling young mother fights a generations-old presence lurking within her family home, threatening her safety, her sanity, and the life of her infant child. Starring Patricia Heaton, Corbin Bernsen, Katie Parker, Emma Fitzpatrick. A new mother named Harper returns to her childhood home, only to face a malevolent, age-old entity lurking in the walls. As the haunting escalates, she’s pushed to the brink to protect her baby — and her mind. All these nice birds are being turned into villains in this film! They don’t seem so scary — it’s the creepy witch in the walls that does.

Following the success of her debut film Saiyaara, Aneet Padda has been cast as the lead in Shakti Shalini, the sixth installment of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU). Fans first caught a glimpse of her character in the post-credits scene of Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. The scene introduced a mysterious woman in a white lehenga, floating mid-air in a dense forest, her long braid swaying in the wind. While her face wasn’t visible, viewers quickly speculated that it was Aneet, signaling her grand entry into the horror-comedy franchise.

Ayushmann Khurrana welcomed her to the MHCU via Instagram stories, writing, “Welcome to the MHCU @aneetpadda_ Punjabi aa gaye oye!! From one dreamer to another—keep chasing what you want. Nothing is impossible… so proud to see someone from Punjab making us all proud. Can’t wait to see you shine in Shakti Shalini! Onwards and upwards, Aneet.” The post garnered excitement among fans, celebrating Aneet’s addition to the popular franchise.

Ayushmann Khurrana Instagram Story

Initially, reports had suggested Kiara Advani might play the lead, but it was Aneet Padda, lauded for her screen presence and emotional depth in Saiyaara, who ultimately secured the role. In the film, she is introduced as “Shakti Shalini — the creator, the destroyer, and the mother of all.” Director Amar Kaushik shared that while developing the script, they realised a younger actor was needed, and Aneet’s performance in Saiyaara made her the perfect fit.

Thamma is the latest addition to the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. The film is successfully running in theaters and getting major buzz from the audience. One of the most talked-about aspects of the movie is the cameo appearances of other major characters from the universe. These cameo appearances connect Thamma with the other films from the MHCU. In this article, we will discuss all the cameos from the Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna starrer.

Bhediya (Varun Dhawan)

One of the most impactful cameo appearances in Thamma was Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya. Dhawan’s werewolf, aka Bhaskar, was seen engaged in a heated confrontation with Ayushmaan’s character. The audience loved the new, enhanced version of Bhediya, and the cameo felt gigantic in the film. This cameo has even generated significant buzz for the next installment of the Bhediya movie.

Elvis Karim Prabhakar (Sathyaraj)

Elvis Karim Prabhakar appeared in Munjya and played a significant role in capturing the evil power. Sathyaraj’s character also had a brief cameo in Thamma. He was the one aware of the existence of Vetaals and their heated rivalry with Bhediyas. Elvis also asserted to Alok’s father that he would remain a Vetaal for the rest of his life, leading to Paresh Rawal’s character accepting the fate of his son, Alok (Ayushmann).

Jana (Abhishek Banerjee)

Abhishek Banerjee’s Jana also had a cameo role in Thamma. In the film, Jana was seen in a conversation with Elvis Karim, expressing his concern about Bhaskar’s failure to transform into Bhediya.

During this scene, Jana came across Alok and even called him Bittu, his friend from Stree Universe. This reference to Bittu comes from the real-life story, as Ayushmann Khurrana and Aparshakti Khurrana, aka Bittu, are brothers in reality.

Sarkata (Sunil Kumar/Akshay Kumar)

Sarkata from the Stree Universe appears at the end of Thamma, where he rescues Yakshasan from the Vetaals. Although some fans are convinced that the Sarkata in Thamma is a version of Akshay Kumar’s character who was seen drinking from a lava pot at the end of Stree 2, it is not officially known whether the Sarkata seen in Thamma was Sunil Kumar’s version of the character or Akshay’s. However, it is likely that Thamma leads to a potential alliance between Sarkata and Yakshasan. The cameo from Sarkata in provides an excellent ending to Maddock’s latest film.

Nora Fatehi’s Special Cameo

Additionally, Nora Fatehi, who first appeared in the MHCU with the viral Kamariya song from Stree, was featured in another song, titled Dilbar Ki Ankhon Ka, in Thamma. However, her appearance this time was more than just a dance number as Nora was portrayed as one of the Vetaals in the film.

Will Ayushmann Khurrana’s Alok/Thamma Appear In Bhediya 2?

Even in the end credit scenes of Maddock’s latest film, Bhediya jumped into the territory of Vetaals, giving a massive hint that he will engage in a war with them in Bhediya 2. As Alok is the new Thamma, he has the duty to protect the Vetaal.

This makes it evident that a fight between Alok and Bhediya will unfold in Bhediya 2, further expanding the MHC Universe. Additionally, the newest Thamma requires Bhediya’s blood to enhance his power and halt Yakshasan, which will play a crucial role in escalating their feud.

Sarkata & Yakshasan Sets The Stage For Pehla Mahayudh

The conclusion of the Maddock Supernatural Universe will happen with Pehla Mahayudh and Doosara Mahayudh in 2028. With Sarkata and Yakshasan seemingly allying at the end of Thamma, the MHCU appears to hint that the evil side is already preparing for the endgame.

In the upcoming installments of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, the evil forces and the heroic side will contest each other. As of now, this is the future of MHCU following Thamma. It remains to be seen what development Shakti Shalini will bring to this Saga.

Other Upcoming Films In The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe

The Maddocks’ Supernatural Universe is already set to feature a spin-off. It has been announced that the character of Stree, played by Shraddha Kapoor, will be featured in an animated prequel film, Chhoti Stree, which is set to hit theaters six months before the release of Stree 3.

Furthermore, the animated film will end with a scene from Stree 3. Going forward, the universe will witness Chamunda, Stree 3, and Maha Munjya alongside Shakti Shalini and Bhediya 2 before Pehla and Doosara Mahayudh. The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe is set to end with the final two films.
