“They kill our people and call it justice. And yet they call us thieves… then let us be thieves with a purpose.” MGM+ has revealed a first look official trailer for their brand new Robin Hood series, their latest take on the Robin Hood legend. The last big movie we had was Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood in 2010, plus the very cheesy Taron Egerton version from 2018. This new mini-series will be streaming in November worldwide. A Saxon forester’s son, Rob, and the daughter of a Norman lord, Marian, work together to fight for justice and freedom following the Norman invasion of England in the Middle Ages. Rob becomes the leader of a band of rebel outlaws while Marian infiltrates the Norman courts, as they collaborate to thwart royal corruption and bring peace to England. From Lionsgate Television and co-created by executive producers John Glenn and Jonathan English (who also directed the pilot), and Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures, who was also an executive producer, Robin Hood stars Jack Patten as Rob, Lauren McQueen as Marian, Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham, Steven Waddington as the Earl of Huntingdon, and Connie Nielsen as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine. This definitely looks made-for-TV but also doesn’t look that bad. Some cool shots in this, hopefully it’s as powerful and inspiring as it seems to be.

Here’s the two official trailers (+ poster) for John Glenn’s Robin Hood series, direct from YouTube:

In 12th-century England, Saxons live under the crushing rule of Norman power. Among them is Robert of Locksley (starring Jack Patten), the son of a forester, whose life is shattered when his family is stripped of their ancestral home and his father is executed by the Sheriff of Nottingham (co-starring Sean Bean). Gifted with the longbow, Rob grows from grief into rebellion, his fate forever entwined with Marian (co-starring Lauren McQueen), a noblewoman torn between loyalty to her family and her love. As tensions rise, Rob gathers a band of outlaws around him — men and women with little in common but their Saxon heritage and desire to fight tyranny. In Sherwood Forest, they wage war against corruption & injustice, drawing the ire of Sheriff, Barons, Norman royalty alike. What begins as vengeance becomes something far greater: the legend of Robin Hood, a symbol of defiance whose struggle will shape the fate of England.

Robin Hood is a series co-created and co-written by John Glenn & Jonathan English. With episodes directed by British writer / filmmaker Jonathan English, director of the films Nailing Vienna, Minotaur, Ironclad, Ironclad: Battle for Blood, My Husband’s Double Life, and the series “The Outpost” previously. It’s also showrun by the writer John Glenn (of Eagle Eye, The Lazarus Project, Elevation, “Allegiance”, “SEAL Team”). Made by Balkanic Media, Hidden Pictures, PFI Studios, Lionsgate Television. MGM debuts Glenn & English’s Robin Hood series streaming on MGM+ starting November 2nd, 2025 this fall. Anyone into it?
