Who Is Charlie Kirk?

The 31-year-old was the founder of Turning Point USA: a nonprofit that advocates for conservatives on college campuses, and he hosted his radio talk show, “The Charlie Kirk Show,” on Salem Media’s “The Answer” channel.

“[Kirk] was hit and taken from the location by his security,” Utah Valley University noted in a statement. “Campus police is investigating, a suspect is in custody.”

Shots were fired from a nearby campus building about 200 yards away from where Kirk was speaking, per CNN.

Previously, he explained why he wasn’t in a committed relationship. In July 2024, Carlos told The Sunday Times that it’s difficult for him to settle down with anyone because of his career, which involves constant traveling.

“No, I am single,” Carlos said, before pointing out, “I am looking for someone. It can be difficult as a tennis player to meet the right person because you are traveling all the time.”

In February 2023, Carlos made similar remarks to Vogue, noting that he had been single for 18 months at that point. “It’s complicated, never staying in one place,” he acknowledged. “It’s hard to find the person who can share things with you if you’re always in different parts of the world.”

The shooter was initially said to be in custody, but CNN later reported that no one was in police custody. Kirk was ultimately struck and taken away by his security team, but the president later confirmed that he was dead.

The Republican followed up in a separate post, “In honor of Charlie Kirk, a truly Great American Patriot, I am ordering all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M.”

What Happened to Charlie Kirk? Shooting & His Death Explained

In the afternoon of September 10, Kirk was reportedly answering a question about transgender mass shooters in the United States. Shortly after Kirk alleged there’s been “too many” transgender mass shooters, shots were fired from a nearby campus building about 200 yards away, according to CNN.

From January 2013 to now, there have been more than 5,700 mass shootings in America, and five of those shooters were confirmed as transgender, founding executive director of the Gun Violence Archive, Mark Bryant, said, per CNN.

Kirk was visibly struck by one of the shots, and he was seen slumped in his seat before blood poured down his neck. He was hospitalized and died later that day.

Initially, Utah Valley University claimed that a suspect was in custody, but officials later clarified during a press conference that the person was not the shooter. They added that the shooter is currently at large.”

At the time of publication, the shooter’s identity in Kirk’s death has not been publicly identified.

A witness told CNN that there were “no security measures” implemented at Kirk’s Utah Valley University event that day. There were allegedly no metal detectors nor bag-checking requirements, the witness told the outlet.

While speaking exclusively with Hollywood Life ahead of the film’s premiere, Maddison discussed her character, Lexi, who will do just about anything to win Trey’s affection in The Honey Pot — even if it involves wrestling Dawn in muddy water, a scene that Madison said was “really fun” to work on with Miranda.

“Miranda and I both said it was one of our favorite days of filming,” Madison told Hollywood Life, before pointing out, “even though it was, by far, the grossest for sure.”

Lexi is quite the two-faced mean girl, a stark contrast to Madison’s real-life personality. “She sounds so sweet when she’s talking, [like] she can get away with murder, but what she’s saying is not very nice,” the Disney Channel alum noted, adding that Lexi’s southern drawl helped her get into character.

Believe it or not, Madison and Miranda — alumni of the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, respectively — hadn’t crossed paths until they were cast in The Wrong Paris, but Madison “grew up watching” Miranda’s performances, such as in Drake & Josh, she told Hollywood Life.

“I feel like she inspired a lot of my Disney performances,” the He’s All That star elaborated. “[Miranda’s] Drake & Josh character, Megan, is so iconic to me. She [played] the best evil little sister that torments her brothers. I sort of channeled that in [my role] in Cory in the House.”

Glen Powell has described Chris Pratt’s performance in Guardians Of The Galaxy as changing the landscape of Hollywood for him and other actors.

Pratt was initially a comedy actor, best known for sitcom Parks And Recreation prior to entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He would play Peter Quill AKA Star-Lord in six MCU movies and a Guardians Of The Galaxy Christmas special, all of which would launch him into action stardom alongside the success of his role in Jurassic World.

Powell is considered one of Hollywood’s up-and-coming leading men thanks to hits such as Twisters, Top Gun Maverick, and the forthcoming remake of The Running Man. In a new interview with GQ, he puts his success partly down to Pratt making lighter performances more attractive to studios.

“I remember when Chris Pratt broke out in Guardians of the Galaxy,” he said. “There’s no doubt it really helped—not being brooding or dark. Like, I’m not Christian Bale. Christian Bale has a gravitas and a weight, and (Robert) Pattinson had his thing. And when Pratt kind of appeared on the scene where he was doing things that were a little more silly and buoyant, that’s where I feel most at home. And that’s where I feel like I had a gear that is a necessary flavour in terms of Hollywood, and not a gear that a lot of guys can play.”

He would explain that, prior to that moment, he would find himself being offered characters who were “the jock, or the fraternity guy, or the very vanilla next-door-neighbour vibes. You get cast into these very broad things.”

The Running Man, directed by Edgar Wright and based on the book by Stephen King, comes to cinemas on November 14.

Recently, Glen Powell dismissed the idea that he could be in the running to be the next James Bond, saying that producers should “Get an authentic Brit for that job.”
