‘Zootopia 2’ Dominates Again as Local Titles Hold

Disney’s animated sequel “Zootopia 2” continued to tower over the Korean box office, delivering $6.7 million from more than 1 million admissions over the Dec. 12–14 frame. According to KOBIS, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council, the film now stands at a commanding $35.2 million cumulative gross since its Nov. 26 debut, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the weekend’s total market share.

Local comedy-drama “The People Upstairs” held firmly in second place, adding $948,236 to lift its total to $2.6 million after two weekends in release. The film drew 140,352 admissions across 768 screens, remaining the strongest Korean performer in the chart. Directed by Ha Jung-woo and starring Gong Hyo-jin, Kim Dong-wook, Lee Ha-nee and Ha Jung-woo himself, the film follows a downstairs couple driven to exhaustion by constant noise from their upstairs neighbours. A tense dinner meant to resolve the issue quickly unravels into an evening of sharp confessions and shifting dynamics.

Family fare “Pororo the Movie: Sweet Castle Adventure” opened in third with $449,879 from 74,435 admissions, narrowly edging out Universal’s horror sequel “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” which collected $449,123 and pushed its cumulative tally to $1.2 million.

Japanese action-fantasy “Jujutsu Kaisen: Shibuya Incident / Culling Game – The Movie” followed in fifth, earning $405,974 for a running total of $2 million. Directed by Shōta Goshozono, the film condenses the anime’s Shibuya Incident arc as Yuji Itadori and his allies face a coordinated curse attack on Halloween. The aftermath sets up the looming Culling Game and Yuta Okkotsu’s mission that puts Yuji’s fate in jeopardy.

In sixth place, “Wicked: For Good” added $224,840, bringing its Korean total to $6.4 million. “The Running Man” placed seventh with $115,810 in its second weekend.

South Korean crime comedy “The Informant” slipped to eighth, grossing $86,310 for a cumulative $916,697. Directed by Kim Seok, the film stars Heo Sung-tae and Jo Bok-rae as a compromised smuggling informant and a hapless detective who blunders into the operation. Forced into an uneasy alliance after both take substantial losses, the pair attempt to claw their way back while dismantling the criminal ring.

Illusionist sequel “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” followed with $81,568, lifting its total to $8.7 million.

Rounding out the top 10, Japanese filmmaker Miyake Sho’s Locarno Golden Leopard winner “Two Seasons, Two Strangers” earned $80,278, bringing its cumulative gross to $136,275. Drawing from Tsuge Yoshiharu’s 1967 and 1968 short stories, the film follows a screenwriter named Lee (played by Korean actress Shim Eun-kyung) as she embarks on contrasting seasonal journeys — a summer encounter at a seaside town and a winter retreat to a remote mountain lodge.

The top 10 films collectively grossed $9.5 million over the Dec. 12–14 weekend, down from the previous frame’s $12.1 million.

120 Bahadur to Hold Nationwide Paid Previews on Rezang La Day

by jummy84 November 16, 2025
written by jummy84

In a rare and surprising move, the makers of 120 Bahadur have announced paid previews across India on 18 November, giving audiences a chance to watch the film three days before its official release. The decision has been taken to coincide with the 63rd anniversary of the Battle of Rezang La, one of the most heroic chapters in India’s military history. The early screenings have created instant curiosity, as very few Hindi films today take the risk of opening paid previews so far ahead of their release date.
The strategy is being seen as a mark of respect to the 120 soldiers of the 13 Kumaon Regiment who fought the legendary battle in 1962, and also as a strong sign of confidence from the team behind the film. By allowing audiences to experience the story first, the makers hope genuine reactions and early reviews will help build momentum leading into the release weekend.
More than 30 shows will open for booking across different cities, and trade experts believe the move could set a new trend if audiences respond positively.
Watch the trailer here:

120 Bahadur tells the story of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC, played by Farhan Akhtar, who led his men with unwavering courage in extreme conditions. The film explores the emotional and physical challenges faced by the soldiers as they held their ground against overwhelming odds. While the larger narrative focuses on patriotism and sacrifice, the story also highlights the personal bonds, humour, and quiet moments that shaped the soldiers’ final stand. The line “Hum Peechhe Nahin Hatenge” echoes throughout the film, capturing the spirit of resilience that defines their legacy.
The paid preview decision has already sparked discussions online, with many calling it a fitting tribute to Rezang La Day. Early viewers are expected to share their thoughts across social media, which could boost excitement in the days leading up to the theatrical release.

Directed by Razneesh Razy Ghai, the film aims to give audiences a deeply emotional and visually powerful experience. 120 Bahadur releases nationwide on 21 November, and the paid previews on 18 November will offer the first glimpse of what promises to be one of the year’s most stirring war dramas.

Turning Point USA To Hold Competing Super Bowl Halftime Show

by jummy84 October 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Turning Point USA, a conservative nonprofit organization founded by the late Charlie Kirk, is scheduled to hold a competing 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show against Bad Bunny‘s main stage performance during the biggest game of the year.

The organization confirmed as much via X, with the post reading, “It’s true, Turning Point USA is thrilled to announce The All American Halftime Show. Performers and event details coming soon.” It also stresses the theme of “faith, family and freedom.”

The included link leads to a form that supporters can fill out regarding potential halftime acts. Listed genre options include Americana, classic rock, country, hip-hop, pop, worship, and “anything in English,” a direct reference to Bad Bunny’s biggest hits being in his native language, Spanish.

Pres. Trump has also expressed his disapproval of Bad Bunny hitting the stage, telling NewsMax’s Greg Kelly, “I’ve never heard of him. I don’t know who he is… I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment — I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

The “DtMF” artist has already brushed off the hate, coyly responding to conservative naysayers during his most recent Saturday Night Live appearance.

Bad Bunny has found support in his fellow Latinos, with Jennifer Lopez recently going to bat for the Puerto Rican artist during a visit to the TODAY show.

“He’s one of the top artists in the world right now, probably the top,” the actress said. “It could be a lot of different people. That’s the thing. I’m super excited for people to see him. I think they’ll be pleasantly surprised because his music transcends language. It’s amazing what he’s done. He’s done something that a lot of people have never done in their life.”

Baaghi 4 maintains its strong hold on the box office

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4, also starring Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa, and Harnaaz Sandhu, is holding steady at the Indian box office. After a strong opening on Friday, the action thriller showed only a mild drop on Saturday despite the Ganpati Visarjan festivities affecting ticket sales in several cities.
On Day 2, Baaghi 4 collected Rs 11.34 crore nett, a decline of just 14.09 percent from its Day 1 figure of Rs 13.2 crore. This brings the film’s total to Rs 24.54 crore nett in two days. Adjusting for GST, the gross collection stands at an impressive Rs 28.95 crore. The film’s healthy hold is being seen as a positive sign for its weekend run.

The film has performed especially well in mass belts and single-screen theatres, where Tiger Shroff’s action image continues to draw big crowds. Audiences in tier-2 and tier-3 cities have embraced the larger-than-life stunts and dramatic storyline, keeping occupancy high across shows. Urban multiplexes, too, contributed steadily, ensuring balanced earnings from multiple circuits.
Industry watchers note that the timing of the release around the Eid-e-Milad holiday gave Baaghi 4 an added push, but sustaining momentum despite the festival rush has further strengthened its box office standing. Sunday is expected to draw in more families and youth audiences, giving the film another solid boost.

Baaghi 4

If the current trend continues, Baaghi 4 is likely to close its opening weekend with a net collection of 36–38 crore Rs. That would place it comfortably among the top 10 opening weekends of 2025. In fact, trade experts suggest the film will easily surpass Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2, which had earned 29.62 crore Rs in its first three days earlier this year.
With strong mass appeal, star power, and positive word-of-mouth in its target audience, Baaghi 4 seems on track for a promising first week. Whether it can hold against stiff competition from multiple new releases next week will be the real test, but for now, Tiger Shroff has another box office success on his hands.

How Leon Thomas Is Using His Fender Strat To Hold Down R&B

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Leon Thomas is well aware that R&B is not the first style of music that comes to mind when the guitar takes the lead. Now, as a member of the 2025 Fender Next class, the 32-year-old is excited to bring his Fender Stratocaster along for the journey as he continues to evolve in the genre.

“Coming up being a fan of music, I was a big fan of Jimi Hendrix, and he always played a red Strat. The red Fender Stratocaster has been a potent part of my sound on R&B since the inception of my career. It’s my favorite guitar to play live on stage, so working with Fender was just a no-brainer, and to be recognized by them is definitely legendary to me,” the New York native explained to VIBE on a friendly Zoom call. He later declared that this would be the only guitar of his choice.

“It was so cool to see my picture up there with a lot of different rock stars. In R&B, guitar is one of those instruments that makes its appearance here and there, but it’s nice to be one of the few guys out there in my generation and in my class of R&B that actually plays plays.”

Kofi Ansah-Agyei

And he’s right. His breakout single “Mutt” widened his audience as listeners latched onto his strong musicality and unique style. In fact, the song and the album of the same name, were ranked VIBE’s top R&B offerings of 2024. With his star rising, Leon Thomas is always armed with the Fender Strat in his uniquely paved lane.

“I think the first time I picked up a guitar was the first time I ever wrote a song. It’s synonymous to everything that is me as an artist. It’s not something I really tried to do. It’s just me kind of being at this point,” he explained.

“So respect to everybody, but I know for me personally, I like to feature a lot of live instrumentation throughout my records because I’m not just writing on a lot of the songs. I’m also co-producing, so it’s nice to kind of have those elements that feel authentic to me featured on the record. Now you’re seeing the effects of that. As I promote it, as I’m on those stages, I don’t really feel comfortable hitting the stage without my baby.”

The former Nickelodeon star continued to detail how his creativity translates to energetic live shows.

“It’s just a part of my process as an entertainer. I’m not hitting a bunch of choreography like Chris Brown. I’m not rapping like Kendrick [Lamar] or anything, so I got to find a way to really make a crowd go wild. I think my wow factor lives not just in what I’m doing vocally but also what I’m able to do on those instruments,” he relayed.

“I just want to make people smile. I want to make them feel good when they come to see me. It’s not cheap to buy a ticket to a show these days. I definitely respect the amount of work people are putting in outside of coming to see me live. If they spent that dollar, I want to make sure that they’re getting a show that’s worth it.”

While last year may stand as his biggest yet, 2025 brought the Grammy winner the BET Award for Best New Artist, and a full-circle Kids’ Choice Award nomination for Favorite Male Breakout Artist. He is also nominated at the upcoming 2025 MTV VMA awards for “Mutt” remix with Freddie Gibbs.

“It’s a beautiful thing, man,” he reflected on the nomination.

He continued to joke, “They gave us like $20 to shoot them videos, so I’m excited. We’re even up there amongst all of those crazy other budgets that other people had. So, I’m just blessed to be mentioned in that category. It’s a real pleasure. I’m super excited to pull up. I’m still picking out my fit, but I’m going to grace that carpet, and I’m going to have a good time.”

And his career is just getting started. Thomas is set to release an EP, Folks, which he notes as “continuing to push the needle, and “a little bit more experimental.”

He continued to assure, “I think I’m just going to continue to be as creative as I can be, and I’m going to continue to take risks and chances in popular music. I hope the world really understands me.”
