Halloween 2025: When is Halloween? Why is it celebrated? Know history and significance of spooky festival in US, Canada

Halloween 2025: The spooky season is upon us once again – a time when cobwebs become decor, pumpkins turn into lanterns, and the line between eerie and exciting begins to blur. As October draws to a close, Halloween takes centre stage, bringing with it a mix of ancient folklore, playful fright, and modern-day revelry. From ghostly costumes to glowing jack-o’-lanterns, it’s that one night of the year when the world comes together to celebrate all things mysterious and magical.

Halloween 2025: When is Halloween?

Halloween, the much-anticipated festival of fright and fun, is celebrated every year on October 31. In 2025, it falls on a Friday, promising a weekend filled with costumes, candy, and creative chaos. The date marks the eve of All Saints’ Day, a time once linked to ancient Celtic harvest rituals and beliefs about spirits crossing into the world of the living.

Today, the event is synonymous with carved pumpkins, spooky decor, and late-night revelry – a day when eerie folklore meets modern-day festivities, and everyone gets to embrace their playful, spooky side.

Halloween 2025: Why is it celebrated?

Halloween traces back to ancient Celtic origins and Christian roots, and is noted for its secular traditions. The tradition originated from the Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter in what is now Ireland, the UK and northern France. The Celts believed that on the eve of Samhain the boundary between the living and the dead became blurred, allowing spirits to roam the earth freely. People lit bonfires and wore disguises to ward off or evade these wandering souls. With the spread of Christianity, the feast of All Saints’ Day (also called All Hallows) was set on November 1, and the evening before became known as All Hallows’ Eve, later shortened to Halloween.

Over the centuries, Halloween evolved into a largely secular celebration involving costumes, parties, jack-o′-lanterns and trick-or-treating – blending folklore, community rituals and fun rather than strictly religious observance. While the original emphasis was on remembrance of the dead and the supernatural, in modern times Halloween is significant as both a cultural event and a celebration of imagination, creativity and social fun.

Halloween 2025: How is Halloween celebrated now?

In today’s world, Halloween has transformed into a global costume party, celebrating creativity and community spirit. People of all ages dress up in imaginative costumes – from spine-chilling ghosts to pop culture icons – and decorate their homes with carved pumpkins, cobwebs and flickering lanterns. The highlight remains trick-or-treating, where children go door to door collecting sweets and chocolates.

Halloween parties, haunted house tours, and themed events keep the festive energy alive, while social media amplifies the spectacle with costume trends and decor ideas. The festival is gaining traction in countries like India and being embraced by the younger crowds, blending Western influences with local flair.

Exclusive! Taapsee Pannu on her Denmark home: There’s a lot of history involved

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Taapsee Pannu who has been dividing her time between Mumbai and Denmark since she started dating and now post marriage to Danish badminton player Mathias Boe, says they are in the process of finishing the interiors of their vintage home. Opening up on her new home for the first time, she says, “It is a huge house that was built around 1907. There’s a lot of history involved and we wanted to restore as much as possible, there’s vintage furniture that’s been there for decades, which I did not want to get rid of. We requested the previous owners to let us keep it. Labour is extremely expensive in Denmark and transportation, storing things in warehouses costs a bomb so people prefer to sell their stuff. We were lucky to inherit all the vintage lamps, furniture, paintings and chandeliers, it goes with the vintage theme of the house, classic Danish designs.” She adds that the new elements include paintings by Indian artistes, collections from their travels, a new staircase and additional bathrooms.

Taapsee’s house in Denmark

Taapsee says having help from Mathias’s father who was a former architect goes a long way, since the couple is doing the decor themselves. “What is strange for Danes but normal for us Indians is that Mathias’s parents live with us, they have their own space on the ground floor, their bedroom, living room, dining and lounge area. It’s the most Indian thing I brought into the house and it took us a while to convince them because it’s not so common to live with grownup kids in Danish culture. Since we keep travelling we wanted someone to come home to, and it’s a beautiful feeling, it truly feels like home, ” says the actor.

Speaking about their taste in interiors Taapsee says, “Mathias and I have some common tastes but in some matters we agree to disagree, However he’s left most of the interiors to me and his parents, who were also kind to let me decide. However, I discuss with everybody before making any decision.” She adds that while Denmark is “poster perfect” the language barrier is a challenge. “I didn’t feel the need to learn the language until the past few years when we bought the house and had to interact with the locals, read documents so I thought it’s a good idea to know Danish, I can understand and construct basic sentences.”

Speaking about how she divides her time between both countries she says, “It depends on work. We are lucky that most shoots happen in winter as that’s the best season to shoot in India. Very rarely do we have shoots in the summer and rainy season, which is when it is summer in Denmark. We end up spending time in Denmark during peak summer and return to India when the rains subside.”

Sharing her love for Denmark as well as India she says, “In Denmark, the air feels so good and so does the water. There’s a certain dopamine in the air, it gives you a high breathing that air and living that life, which can be addictive. I look forward to turning my life upside down when there, you need to do everything yourself, cooking, cleaning, from buying a milk carton to bread and butter. We cycle at 6am to get groceries. If you need to fix something, you have to hammer the nail yourself. In India it’s easy to get support for your smallest of needs, unlike Denmark but in Denmark it’ the DIY life.”

The actress reveals when she’s back in India, desi food is all she needs on her platter, she says, “I try and have Indian for all meals, right from breakfast of chila and upma, to khichdis. I enjoy food in Denmark, which is different and nice but in India my menu from morning to night is desi food. I love the festive period here, full of dance and music constantly running in the background. I love putting up diyas, drawing rangoli, which I have been doing since I was a child. These rituals are not of tangible consequence but make me feel at home.”

Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Controversy: History Behind MAGA's Reaction

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Controversy: History Behind MAGA’s Reaction

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

When the NFL, Roc Nation, and Apple Music announced that Bad Bunny would be the 2026 Super Bowl halftime performer, the noise started almost immediately. On one side, there were cheers and excitement: His fans recognized the historic nature of the performance, which will go down in the books as the first Super Bowl halftime entirely in Spanish. Plus, the announcement came toward the tail end of yet another massive year for Bad Bunny — after a triumphant 31-date residency in Puerto Rico, an Amazon stream of the concert that broke records, and the blockbuster success of his chart-busting album Debí Tirar Más Fotos.

On the other side, there was just as much commotion, but these conversations were almost hysterical — and far uglier. Conservatives blasted the NFL’s choice, taking issue with pretty much every facet of Latin music’s most visible star. His music? Unlistenable. His politics? Unacceptable. His lyrics in Spanish? Un-American.

Bad Bunny has been such a beloved figure across the global music landscape precisely because he’s been authentically himself, embracing fashion and aesthetic choices that subvert gender norms and refusing to make palatable, commercial pop in English. He’s been unafraid to speak his mind in his songs, often speaking out about difficulties in Puerto Rico, like gentrification, economic difficulties, and the long-term impacts of colonization. And while he isn’t a polemical artist who staged long tirades against the administration, he has stood up about issues he cares about, such as the rights of immigrants amid the government’s cruel deportation policies. In an interview with i-D magazine, he shared part of the reason he opted against touring in the U.S. was because he didn’t want ICE to terrorize his largely Latino fanbase outside his concerts.

This makes him a target for conservatives. Newsmax host Greg Kelly called for a boycott of the NFL, insisting that Bad Bunny “hates America, hates President Trump, hates ICE, hates the English language! He’s just a terrible person.” Even the highest levels of government have gotten involved. Kristi Noem, the Homeland Security secretary, threatened that immigration agents would be “all over” the event. Trump later went on Newsmax to bash the artist, saying, “I never heard of him. I don’t know who he is,” Trump said. “I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s crazy, and then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Editor’s picks

Turning Point USA, the conservative youth-focused group founded by the late Charlie Kirk, decided it would organize a “counterprogram” during Bad Bunny’s performance, calling it “The All-American Halftime Show” to celebrate “faith, family, and freedom.” A website contact form gives followers a chance to request music and artists, including worship music, country, and “anything in English.” MAGA supporters drafted inane petitions to replace his performance and even called for his deportation — despite the fact that Puerto Rico is a territory of the U.S. and he’s an American citizen.

As maddening and outsized as the reaction feels, it’s part of an unfortunate, small-minded tradition of sidelining and othering Latin artists in the United States, even though these musicians are often American and represent huge swaths of the population. These moments are callous and drenched in xenophobia, yet they go back decades. In 1968, for example, the Puerto Rican artist José Feliciano performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the 1968 World Series — only he did it in a stripped-back, Latin-influenced style on his acoustic guitar. The performance became a lightning rod; many people took it as if it was some kind of counterculture protest and were confused by Feliciano’s long hair and sunglasses (which he wore because he was born blind.) They raged to radio stations and sent him hate mail, with some even calling for his deportation — even though Feliciano, like Bad Bunny, was born in Puerto Rico and is a U.S. citizen. History, and ignorance, repeats itself, and in this case, it had dire consequences on Feliciano’s career for a few years.

Related Content

“I was a little depressed, to tell you the truth,” Feliciano said later. “And then they stopped playing me. Like I had the plague, or something.” Years later, in 2018, he reflected on the incident and shared that his rendition was actually his way of honoring his country from a deeply felt place. “When I did the anthem, I did it with the understanding in my heart and mind that I did it because I’m a patriot,” Feliciano said. “I was trying to be a grateful patriot. I was expressing my feelings for America when I did the anthem my way instead of just singing it with an orchestra.” (Perhaps not coincidentally, Bad Bunny paid homage to Feliciano as a pioneer and trailblazer, bringing him onstage during his 2023 headlining set.)

Other examples of bringing Latin artists onto mainstream stages have come with an unnecessary amount of controversy, even decades later. Take the 1999 Grammys: Back then, Ricky Martin was a star on the rise, having successfully plotted a career from child boy band Menudo to breakout solo act. He had already become a household name in Latin music, and his album Vuelve was nominated for a Grammy for Best Latin Pop. His label head Tommy Mottola began pushing to have Martin perform one of the tracks — the famed “Cup of Life” FIFA anthem that Martin had written for the 1998 World Cup — as an opening number for the Grammys telecast. Despite Martin’s stage presence and star power, producers for the awards show disapproved of the idea, convinced a Latin act singing primarily in Spanish wouldn’t work for the show.

Mottola later recalled how intense the pushback was. “There was tremendous resistance from the Grammys,” Mottola told Billboard. “They did not want an ‘unknown’ to perform, yet we had already sold 10 million copies of Vuelve worldwide. To me, that was absolutely UNACCEPTABLE.  We had enormous leverage at that time with almost every major superstar on our label. We heavily voiced our ‘opinion and influence’ and said: ‘Ricky must have a performance on the Grammys!’ No was not an option.”

It took Mottola fighting for that moment to make it happen — and a standing ovation and thousands of records sold later eventually proved that the Grammys short-sighted biases didn’t hold any water. It seems even more ridiculous today, now that Latin music continues to generate more than $1 billion in revenue. Bad Bunny later played that same slot at the Grammy awards — and while he didn’t appear to face opposition from the show’s higher-ups, he did go viral when captions popped up on the CBS telecast, describing his lyrics as “singing in non-English.”

The all-too-frequent xenophobic knee-jerk reaction to Latin acts is often triggered by language alone. Just this June, the singer Nezza, who is of Colombian and Dominican descent, was asked to do the national anthem at a Dodgers game. She had prepared to do “El Pendón Estrellado,” a Spanish version written in 1945 by Clotilde Arias after the Division of Cultural Cooperation of the Department of State asked for translated versions of the “Star Spangled Banner.” (These were solicited as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “Good Neighbor Policy” toward Latin America.) According to some reports, Dodgers officials told her at the last minute she couldn’t perform in Spanish — but she did so anyway, angering conservatives and sparking outrage and insults online.

Nezza explained her decision at the time in a statement to Rolling Stone, saying “representation matters.” She added, “For anyone clutching their pearls, it’s important to know: in 1945, President Franklin D. Roosevelt himself commissioned an official Spanish version of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ to honor and include Latin Americans. That version — ‘El Pendón Estrellado’ — tells the exact same story, word for word in meaning, and is set to the exact same melody. The heart of the anthem does not change with the language. So why was I told I couldn’t sing it? Make it make sense.”

Trending Stories

Longtime prejudices have meant that Latin artists have been regarded with suspicion, doubt, and even outrage throughout music history, but these attitudes have twisted into something far more intense and sinister as a result of the current administration. Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance comes at a time when the government has antagonized Latino communities, spread anti-Latino rhetoric, and treated immigrants with abject cruelty, callously celebrating images of forceful, often violent arrests and brutal detainments. Even speaking Spanish is othered by conservatives and painted as anti-American. As soon as Trump came into office, he passed an executive order to make English the official language of the U.S. while the White House removed Spanish translations from its official websites. On social media, viral videos have shown right-wingers confronting people speaking Spanish and associating the language with those who don’t “belong” here, ignoring the fact that 18 percent of the population is bilingual.

But despite the rhetoric rooted in such an ugly history, Bad Bunny will still take the stage in February, and he’ll perform his songs in the language he wrote them in. That moment will represent millions of people in this country, including many of the Latinos who make up 20 percent of the population. What he chooses to say or do will ultimately be up to him, just the inherent act of him stepping under that spotlight will be a political statement — one that will speak to his roots, his lineage, and the history of Latin artists who have helped bring him here. No matter what, it will be a moment of self-expression — and one that’s deeply American, too.

A new chapter of Blue Bloods has arrived. Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) is headed north to the Boston Police Department in the brand-new CBS series Boston Blue.

Danny has a new partner in Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), but don’t think original Blue Bloods fans have forgotten about Danny and Baez’s (Marisa Ramirez) whole will-they-or-won’t-they situation. (We definitely have not.) Will Baez make her way to Boston at some point? That remains to be seen.

The Most Epic Mashup In Fashion History? Victoria’s Secret’s Britney-Kamal Haasan Tribute! | Glamsham.com

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was once again to dazzling heights in October 2025, reclaiming its place in world spotlight with an adrenaline-pumping extravaganza in New York City. With stunning sets, fearless fashion, and performances by Missy Elliott, Karol G, and K-pop sensation TWICE, the show combined glamour with innovation — but one surprise musical moment was the true showstopper.

In a runway moment, the crowd was left agog over an amazing mashup: Britney Spears’ Toxic being seamlessly merged with Tere Mere Beech Mein, a popular Hindi tune from the 1981 Bollywood movie Ek Duuje Ke Liye. The East-meets-West mashup went viral, exciting fans online and sparking renewed controversy around the two songs’ long-mulled-up connection.

The fans had for long presumed that the hook of strings in Toxic was stolen from Tere Mere Beech Mein. Written by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and Anand Bakshi and performed by legends Lata Mangeshkar and S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, the original Hindi track has an identical haunting melody. The mashup they did for the fashion show capitalized on their audio affinities, combining the scorching syrupy groove of Spears’ 2003 single with the dramatics of the Hindi classic.

Toxic, on the other hand, was a global phenomenon, earning Britney Spears a Grammy and one of the defining songs of the 2000s. Tere Mere Beech Mein is from Ek Duuje Ke Liye, an antique Indian film which told a tragic love story of an intercultural affair. Starring Kamal Haasan and Rati Agnihotri and directed by K. Balachander, the film is still a powerful cultural reference point.

The mashup’s viral fame not only thrilled fans globally but also brought to light the rich musical exchange between the East and West — proving that melodies have no borders and no decades

Who Is Kim Kardashian Dating Now? Look Back at Her Dating History – Hollywood Life

Kim Kardashian‘s personal life has been in the public eye for over a decade. Ever since formally introducing herself in 2007 with the debut episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim has made herself known as a prominent socialite and powerful businesswoman. Over the years, Kim has enjoyed incredibly joyful highs and endured devastating lows.

After more than six years of marriage and four children, Kim has officially filed for divorce from her husband, Kanye West, in February of 2021. The former power couple finally settled the matter with a finalized divorce in November of 2022. During the interim, Kim embarked on a nine-month relationship with Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson.

While the duo split in August of 2022, Kim learned something from the relationship. During an October 2023 episode of The Kardashians, she admitted she wanted an “age appropriate” boyfriend after dating the comedian, and added that she now has “age limits” in place.

So, is Kim dating anybody now? Take a look back at all her romantic relationships over the years.

Damon Thomas

Years before KUWTK even started filming, Kim’s first marriage played out quite unexpectedly. Kim eloped with music producer Damon Thomas in a secret Las Vegas wedding in 2000. At the time, Kim was only 19 years old. Between her family’s disapproval and alleged abuse from Damon, the marriage didn’t last long at all. Damon eventually filed for divorce in 2003, with the legal proceedings finalized in 2004.

Ray J

It wasn’t long after her divorce that Kim started dating singer Ray J. The pair met while Kim was working as Ray J’s sister, Brandy‘s, assistant. The pair dated on and off between 2005 and 2007, but circumstances got very difficult for the two after they split. In the time after their breakup, a sex tape that the former couple made leaked and was sold to Vivid Entertainment. Making the matter more precarious, the video leaked at the time that KUWTK debuted.

Nick Lachey

Following his divorce from Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey had a memorable date with Kim! Although Nick himself said in an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that referring to Kim has his “ex” was “a little bit of a liberal use of the term,” he did share some insight from their date! The two went to see a movie in 2006, prior to Nick’s marriage to now-wife Vanessa Minillo, whom he wed in 2011. “I think we went on one date together,” he said. “She left about halfway through and went to the restroom, and then shockingly, there were 25 paparazzi when we left the theater,” he revealed. “I think there were other things in play on our little rendezvous.”

Nick Cannon

As Kim’s star began to rise thanks in large part to KUWTK, she started dating former Nickelodeon star Nick Cannon. The pair only dated for a few months, but Nick opened up about their time together and the reason for their split, years later. “This was my issue. We talked about this tape,” he shared during a 2013 appearance on The Howard Stern Show.

“And she told me there was no tape. If she might have been honest with me, I might have tried to hold her down and be like ‘That was before me’ because she is a great girl. She’s actually one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet,” he continued. “But the fact that she lied and told me that there was no tape? And I still think she might have even had a part to play with [its release].”

Reggie Bush

Kim’s next beau was NFL star Reggie Bush, whom she dated on and off between 2007 and 2010. The two tried to make their relationship work as much as possible, but due to the demands of Reggie’s football career, and Kim’s continued success with KUWTK as well as new ventures, things fizzled out. But that didn’t stop rumors from swirling that Reggie was going to propose to Kim when they were together. The reality TV star, however, was quick to shut down rumors.

“A radio interviewer asked what I dreamed for in 2010 and I was hesitant and thinking about it and they said what about ring,” she wrote on her old blog. “I said yes, a Superbowl ring for Reggie. Then they said that if he gets a Superbowl ring, I get an engagement and I said ‘ok deal!’”

Miles Austin

After her relationship with Reggie, Kim had a short-lived romance with Miles Austin. The pair began dating during the summer of 2010. However, their romance fizzled by September of that year.

Shengo Deane

After her fling with Miles, Kim dated her bodyguard Shengo Deane! The pair were exactly serious, but the two allegedly shared a kiss. Shengo was Kim’s bodyguard during season five of KUWTK.

Gabriel Aubry

Kim had a few dates with Gabriel Aubry in late 2010, after the model split from his former partner Halle Berry. The were seen at a  Los Angeles Lakers game during their short-lived courtship. But the two fizzled out soon after.

Kris Humphries

After some casual flings and dating around after Reggie, Kim seemed to finally find her everlasting love. Kim started dating Kris Humphries in December 2010. The former couple’s relationship was chronicled in the press as well as on KUWTK. After only six months of dating, Kris was ready to take his romance with Kim to the next level. The NBA star proposed to Kim on an episode of KUWTK with a stunning a 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz ring.

The two wed in August 2011, with the ceremony televised for viewers in an episode of KUWTK. Although the ceremony was positively stunning and the couple seemed so happy, Kim’s fairytale ending wasn’t meant to be with Kris. The couple’s marriage lasted a mere 72 days before Kim filed for divorce from Kris. In a May 2017 interview with Andy Cohen, Kim confessed that she knew her marriage wasn’t meant to last while she was on her honeymoon.

“At the time I didn’t even — I just thought, ‘Holy sh*t, I’m 30 years old. I better get this together; I better get married.’ I think a lot of girls do go through that — where they freak out and think they’re getting old and they have to figure it out,” she shared on Watch What Happens Live. “But I knew, like, [by the] honeymoon it wasn’t going to work out.” Kim and Kris’s divorce was finalized in June 2013, in the midst of a newfound relationship.

Kanye West

Kim Kardashian, Kanye West

After her highly publicized split from Kris, Kim started dating her longtime friend Kanye West in the spring of 2012. Kim and Kanye ran in the same social circles for years before taking their friendship to the next level. It wasn’t long after the pair started dating that they hit a major milestone in their relationship and in their individual lives. On June 15, 2013, just over one year after they officially started dating, Kim and Kanye welcomed their precious daughter, North West, into the world.

Four months later, Kanye proposed to Kim on her 33rd birthday, and the couple wed less than a year later in May 2014 in a romantic ceremony at Fort di Belvedere in Florence, Italy. Fans absolute fawned over the photos of the couple’s lavish wedding, and friends and family alike were so excited to see Kim and Kanye’s life together flourish.

After their romantic Italian nuptials, Kim and Kanye continued to expand their family. In December 2015, the couple welcomed their second child, son Saint. But Kim struggled with intense health complications during both of her first pregnancies, citing pre-eclampsia. As such, Kim’s physicians advised against her getting pregnant again. Kim and Kanye’s third child, daughter Chicago, was welcomed into the world on January 15, 2018 via surrogate, as was Kim and Kanye’s fourth child, son Psalm, born on May 9, 2019.

Kim and Kanye’s marriage has been the subject of tremendous media attention. The couple, however, always maintained a united front. And Kim has been incredibly supportive of Kanye’s fashion and music career, while also being honest about some of the struggles they face as Kanye continues to deal with his bipolar disorder. But after four kids and six years of marriage, it seems that their romance might be coming to an end.

Reports circulated on January 5 that Kim and Kanye were practically heading for a divorce. “He knows that she’s done. She has had enough, and she told him that she wants some space to figure out her future,” a source told People. “He’s okay. He’s sad, but okay. He knows the inevitable will happen, and he knows that it’s coming soon,” the source added of Kanye’s current state.

Just over one month after initial reports circulated that Kim and Kanye’s marriage was dissolving, news broke on February 19, 2021, that Kim reportedly filed for divorce. Kim requested joint physical and legal custody of the couple’s four children little ones — North, Saint, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 1 — per sources from TMZ. It also seems that the split has been “amicable” and neither Kim nor Kanye has contested the prenup they signed. It’s a devastating end to one of Hollywood’s most well-known couples.

Pete Davidson

Kim and Pete Davidson, now 29, struck up an unexpected romance in Oct. 2021 shortly after she made her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live. Her opening monologue was themed around her divorce from Ye, and she then shared an on-screen kiss with Pete during an Aladdin themed sketch where she played Princess Jasmine and he played Aladdin. Shortly after, the duo were seen holding hands on a visit to Knott’s Berry Farm just outside of Los Angeles! While the pair played it coy to start, they were spotted holding hands while visiting her mom Kris Jenner‘s Palm Springs home — also where they celebrated his 28th birthday.

Kim and Pete were seemingly inseparable in the months to come, taking their romance to New York (including several stops in Pete’s hometown of Staten Island for Italian food, of course), Los Angeles, multiple trips to the Caribbean, the United Kingdom and Australia. Pete even got several tattoos for his love, including an anagram reading KNSCP for her four kids North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm. He also got a burned-in branding reading “Kim” as well as tattoo that said, “my girl is a lawyer.” Although the pair seemed committed to making their long distance romance work when Pete began shooting a project in Australia — where Kim went to visit on July 16, 2022 — the pair called it quits just shy of three weeks later. The split occurred on the week of August 5, a source close to Kim confirmed to Hollywood Life.

Though the relationship had long been over, Kim indirectly addressed it during an October episode of The Kardashians in October of 2023.  “I have age limits, guys,” she told “soccer mom” friends when the topic arose, per Daily Mail. “I need just a little bit more age appropriate. I need like 40s.”

She also expressed frustration with her married friends’ attitude towards her single status. “When you’re single and all your friends are married,” she explained, “it’s like you have desperation written on your face and everyone under the sun wants to hook you up with someone. I’m genuinely just okay being by myself for a minute, and the right situation will come my way.”

Odell Beckham Jr.

Multiple outlets reported that Kim and Odell Beckham Jr. starting dating in September 2023, and their rumored romance was short lived. They broke things off by April 2024, but there was no bad blood between the former pair.

Taylor Swift’s 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” has officially sold 4.002 million equivalent album units — which includes album sales and streaming activity — in its first week in the U.S. That is the biggest first week in modern music history; at least, according to Luminate, the industry data and analytics company that began tracking sales in 1991.

Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ makes history by selling 4 million copies in first week

Swift broke the record set by Adele’s “25,” which sold 3.378 million copies in its first week in 2015 in the U.S.

“The Life of a Showgirl” was released Oct. 3. In its first week, pure album sales totaled 3,479,500 copies.

She’s also become the solo artist with the most No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, with 15. She was previously tied with Drake and Jay-Z, who each have 14.

Swift is now just behind The Beatles, who boast of 19 No. 1 albums.

She is no stranger to breaking records, and when it comes to “The Life of a Showgirl,” the history-making started immediately. In its first day of release, the album sold 2.7 million copies in traditional album sales, breaking her record for most first week sales… in one day.

Her last album, 2024’s “The Tortured Poets Department,” amassed 2.61 million equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week.

Also, according to Luminate, “The Life of a Showgirl” broke the record for the most copies of a vinyl album sold in a single week in the U.S., with 1.2 million copies in its first day.

The previous record holder was “The Tortured Poets Department,” which sold 859,000 copies on vinyl in its first week.

One of the reasons Swift has seen so much success is that she released her record in several different variants. Those include multiple editions specific to Target — three CDs titled “It’s Frightening,” “It’s Rapturous” and “It’s Beautiful,” as well as an exclusive vinyl release, “The Crowd Is Your King.”

There are a number of other vinyl variants as well: “The Tiny Bubble in Champagne Collection,” “The Baby That’s Show Business Collection,” “The Shiny Bug Collection,” and the standard LP and cassette, in “sweat and vanilla perfume Portofino orange vinyl.”

The news of Swift’s record-breaking sales arrived just after “Good Morning America” revealed Monday that she’ll have two new projects at Disney . That’s a six-episode, behind-the-scenes docuseries about her landmark “Eras Tour” titled “Taylor Swift ‘ The Eras Tour ‘ The End of an Era.”

The first two episodes of her docuseries will premiere Dec. 12.

And that is not to be confused with the second, titled “Taylor Swift ‘ The Eras Tour ‘ The Final Show,” a concert film now with the inclusion of “The Tortured Poets Department” section. The 2024 album was incorporated into her three-and-a-half-hour performance following its release. It was filmed in Vancouver.

That differs from 2023’s “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” film, which was compiled from several Swift shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, a suburb of Los Angeles and arrived ahead of “The Tortured Poets Department.”

AN ORAL HISTORY OF THE MAKING OF 'TRON'

AN ORAL HISTORY OF THE MAKING OF ‘TRON’

by jummy84 October 13, 2025

When Walt Disney died in 1966, his creative vision did too. The studio that had produced the animated classics Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty, Dumbo, and Fantasia began focusing on live action, leading the company into genres that it had never approached before. Escape to Witch Mountain (1975), The Black Hole (1979), and The Watcher in the Woods (1980) were even rated PG (gasp!). Commercial and critical failures, they nevertheless showed that Disney was willing to take risks.

The most famous risk? Tron.

Released on July 9, 1982, and directed by Steven Lisberger, Tron starred Jeff Bridges (Kevin Flynn), Bruce Boxleitner (Alan Bradley/Tron), and Cindy Morgan (Lora Baines/Yori). It only made a reported $33 million worldwide, but it gained a cult following which lead to two sequels — Tron: Legacy (2010) and Tron: Ares (coming this fall).

And it was very prescient. In one scene an engineer says, “Computers are just machines. They can’t think,” to which Boxleitner’s Bradley replies, “Some programs will be thinking soon.”

The Beginning

Steve Lisberger (director):  It started in the late ‘70s at my animation studio. We were doing a special on the Olympics, Animalympics, and that got us thinking about Olympic and gladiatorial games. Then we saw Pong and, to use a bad pun, “connected the dots.” We were working on neon logos for Animalympics. So I thought we should create a character that was neon. We called him Tron.

Bill Kroyer (co-lead animator):  I was a Disney animator working on The Fox and the Hound, and Steve Lisburger talked his way onto the lot. He pitched us to come and work for him on a film called Animalympics. So I went to Lisburger studios in Venice, and Steve made me animation director. I used to have these famous artists come in on Fridays and talk to the staff, and one Friday, Walt Peregoy, one of the legendary Disney painters, came in and told us, “The golden age of animation is over.” And Steve spoke up from the back of the room: “You know something? We’re going to put things on that screen that you could never imagine.”

Lisberger:  Originally, we wanted to make Tron as an independent film at my studio. And then my business partner, Donald Kushner, called up Disney. We got a meeting.

Kroyer:  After Walt passed away, the quality of the live-action projects really nosedived, and Disney realized they needed to do something to up their game. So they hired a guy named Tom Wilhite, an up-and-coming executive they were impressed with. Wilhite greenlit Tron.

Lisberger:  That we had approached [Tron] like an animated project meant that we were speaking the same language as Disney. And they really liked the script. But the studio was divided. Some were very opposed to the project because they did not believe that artists should get involved with computers. But the forward-leaning faction at Disney was excited.

Kroyer:  The technology did not exist to make the movie that we pitched. Jumping off a cliff and building your wings on the way down, that was Tron to a tee. So we drafted those four main companies — [Digital Effects, Robert Abel & Associates, Mathematical Applications Group, Inc. (MAGi), Information International, Inc. (Triple-I)] — and together we did what I called symbiotic creativity. Jerry Reese and me storyboarded the whole movie and ended up doing all the animation. We had to interview these guys at MAGi and Triple-I and say, “What exactly can you do? What will it look like? What can be made?”

Casting Kevin Flynn

Lisberger:  The whole idea of Flynn as a tech shaman, I mean, he’s really archetypal. He journeys to the other dimension where he solves this problem because he has powers that most of the characters in that world don’t have.

I’ve always felt a kinship for Flynn because when we were making the film we were on Flynn’s journey. We were creating this world and trying to figure out what powers we had.

We started calling people to see what actors might be interested. When they heard that it involved video games, they thought, “It’s Disney. It’s childish. We’re not interested.” The fact that so many other people didn’t like the material because they thought it was too far out is why Jeff Bridges liked it.

Jeff Bridges (star):  The walls of the soundstage were lined with video games that everyone could play for free. So we all got into these heavy competitions. My game was Battle Zone, and it was very much like Tron — all those lines and the grid and all that. And, man, they’d have to tear me off this game. I’d say, “I’m preparing for the scene!”

The Production

Lisberger:  What we did was break down every element of making those images into its basic component. Sometimes shots of Alan talking to Flynn weren’t even shot at the same time because we had to have everything in perfect focus. The backgrounds were CG plates that had to be composited.

Bridges:  It was very challenging. And then there’s acting to a blue screen…reacting to stuff that wasn’t there. I remember the sets were all black duvetyne with white adhesive tape. They basically had to be hand colored by these women in Korea. And then wearing tights and a dance belt — it makes sitting down a whole new kind of experience.

Kroyer:  There was no software to do animation. Computer graphics was so new that people had created software to build, texture, light, and render models. But nobody had spent time writing software to move things. So we had to render objects in 24 different positions to make one second of film. We couldn’t create motion on a computer screen that we could watch. We could only see individual frames. The first time we saw motion was when the computer companies would send us their tests.

We’re seeing our animation in 70 [mm] on these huge screens in the soundstage, and, as you might imagine, a lot of people in Disney started sneaking into those screenings. When they saw those lightcycles whipping down those corridors, they were stunned.

Lisberger:  I give Disney nothing but credit. Tron couldn’t have been made at any other studio. Yes, we went over budget. But we delivered on time.

The Legacy

Bridges:  All of that stuff has kind of come true, you know? It falls right into what’s happening with AI and all that stuff. With the second one [Tron: Legacy], I’ve literally been sucked into the computer. I got scanned and all of that, so that’s probably the end of actors making movies. Nowadays studios can say, “Give me a little bit of De Niro, some Pacino, and just throw 10% of Bridges in there.”

Lisberger:  Tron put Disney in a position where they were No. 1 in the world in computer animation. The film dealt with agent programs [AI programs designed to perform tasks independently, on behalf of a user or another system] decades before agent programs actually arrived. It talked about the Internet via the ARPANET [Advanced Research Projects Agency Network]. Tron touched on this idea of the world as a simulation.

I don’t think people were ready for how cutting edge it was.

Diane Keaton, recognized for her iconic on-screen performances in various films, died on October 11, 2025, at the age of 79. She is survived by her two children, Dexter and Duke. Her death appeared sudden to fans, most of whom wonder what happened to Keaton in her final days. Some weren’t aware of her health history with skin cancer, which the late Oscar winner opened up about in the past.

Below, Hollywood Life breaks down what we know about Diane’s health and the last few months of her life.

Did Diane Keaton Have Health Issues Before She Died?

Yes, Keaton previously battled skin cancer. The late Annie Hall star was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma when she was in her 20s and was diagnosed with squamous cell cancer years later. She underwent two surgeries to combat the second diagnosis, per the Los Angeles Times.

During a 2015 interview with the Times, the late Something’s Gotta Give actress noted that the illness ran in her family.

“It’s a family history,” she explained. “I remember my Auntie Martha had skin cancer so bad they removed her nose. My father had basal skin cancer, and my brother had it. It’s tricky with this skin cancer. That’s why you’ve got to put the sunblock on.”

What Happened to Diane Keaton? Her ‘Decline’ Before Death

According to CNN and ABC News, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call for medical assistance at Keaton’s home on October 11, 2025, and an unidentified person was transported to a hospital.

Shortly after People broke the news of her death, the outlet reported that The Godfather star’s health had “declined very suddenly” during her final days.

“She declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her,” a friend of Keaton’s told the publication. “It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.”

The friend added that Keaton did not tell some of her friends about her condition during the last few months of her life.

“In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private,” the insider said. “Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening.”

What Was Diane Keaton’ Cause of Death?

At the time of publication, no cause of death has been disclosed. It’s still unclear how Keaton died.

How Diane Keaton Campaigned to Preserve LA’s Architectural History

by jummy84 October 12, 2025

On a brisk February evening in 2006, around a hundred people gathered in the venerable Koreatown watering hole HMS Bounty to pay their last respects to Los Angeles’ historic Ambassador Hotel. Despite the best efforts of the Los Angeles Conservancy, the Ambassador had been torn down — and among the speakers decrying the fate of the legendary institution that evening was Diane Keaton.

Keaton, who died Saturday at 79, is of course known the world over for her on-screen credits, from “Annie Hall” to “The Godfather,” “Father of the Bride” and so much more. But in Los Angeles, she was also known for her passionate work in trying to preserve the city’s history. Keaton spent nearly two decades on the board of the L.A. Conservancy, and lent her voice to the org in countless campaigns to save some of the city’s historic and culturally significant homes and buildings.

“The more I got to know her, the more I understood where that passion came from,” said former L.A. Conservancy president Linda Dishman, who retired after 31 years with the org in 2023. “A lot of that came from her family and growing up in Los Angeles. Really having a connection to the stories and places that make L.A. the city that it is. She had a very genuine passion for historic preservation, not only for the buildings or the cultural landscapes, but for what they mean to people and what they would mean in the future. She definitely got the relationship with how we’re doing this for future generations.”

Keaton first became involved through her interest in historic homes — one of which, built by famed architect Lloyd Wright, she called her own. Her association with the group started when she was curious about the Spanish house owned by one of the Conservancy board members — but soon she got deeply involved with the org, speaking at one of its benefits and then joining its board.

“She was just charming, and it was great being with her, because we shared a passion for historic places,” Dishman said. “Houses were her first interest, and she bought historic houses and restored them, like the Lloyd Wright. But she very much cared about the whole architectural landscaoem and so the fight that she probably was most engaged with, because it took so long, was the Ambassador Hotel.”

Designed by architect Myron Hunt, the Ambassador Hotel opened in 1921 — back when that portion of mid-Wilshire was the outskirts of town — and soon became the glamorous playground of the rich and famous. Later, architect Paul Williams added his own touch, including a famous coffee shop, and then the Cocoanut Grove nightclub really put it on the map. The hotel saw every president visit from Hoover to Nixon — but then was the scene of Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1968. The hotel declined from there, and finally shut down in 1989. After that, it became a regular location for film and TV shoots; the LA Unified School District bought the site in 2001, and after a lengthy fight with the Conservancy, which hoped to see the existing structure be adapted into the school, LAUSD was allowed to tear it down in 2005. (The Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools now sit on the property.)

“The Ambassador told so many stories about the history of Hollywood in Los Angeles that she she just was extremely passionate about,” Dishman said. “Not only about its history, but about what it could become — because that was a large part of the Conservancy’s work. Trying to show the school district that the building could become a really great learning facility. She really thought this would be a great solution.”

At the 2006 wake, Keaton expressed her disappointment (watch it here): “I wanted to join in with everyone from the Conservancy and express my heartfelt regret that our effort to save the Ambassador Hotel was lost on a confused public who could do nothing more than shrug their shoulders in apathy,” she said. “Looking at the shadow of our once glorious Ambassador Hotel, like losing a lover, I felt that familiar pounding heartbeat racing through my body, and I felt the loneliness of her last stand. I heard an echo, an echo, and maybe it was the echo of the ambassador calling me. It was almost as if she was saying to me, she was saying, ‘goodbye, Diane, Keep me in your heart, and next time, try harder.’”

At the Conservancy, Keaton did continue to work hard: Dishman noted that the star was forever allowing the org to use her name to get its foot in the door. “This is LA and sometimes it can be hard to get a meeting with an elected official, but I say I’m calling instead of a meeting, ‘Diane Keaton would like to meet with your boss’ or whatever, and people would always say yes. Even if they didn’t agree with us. Everybody wanted to meet with Diane, and even at the end of the meeting, they might not have changed their position. I think she opened the door, and it might not have saved the Ambassador, but hopefully it changed how they view preservation on another issue. She was very open with me about ‘use my name. If you want a meeting, you call and get it, and I’ll be there.’ She was willing to go the extra mile and not just do the easy stuff.

“She had a way of speaking to people about preservation,” Dishman added. “She wasn’t pompous. She just was very direct, and had so much passion that everybody wanted to come along with her.”

Among other projects, Keaton also celebrated the preservation and restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Ennis House, which she loved had some similarities to her Lloyd Wright house.

‘She always came to our benefits,” Dishman said. “She loved success stories, like this building was threatened and it gets saved. She loved the Preservation Awards. She also got involved with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She was on their board for three years. Just seeing, like at an airport in New Orleans, how people responded to her, was really a testament to who she was and how people loved her.”

A few years after the Ambassador wake, a fired-up Keaton wrote more about it — and the lessons she learned from that disappointment — in a Los Angeles Times editorial: “We’ve treated old buildings like we once treated plastic shopping bags — we haven’t reused them, and when we’ve finished with them, we’ve tossed them out. This has to stop. Preservation must stand alongside conservation as an equal force in the sustainability game. More older and historic buildings have to be protected from demolition, not only because it affects our pocketbooks but more important because it threatens our environment. Let’s face it, our free ride at the expense of the planet is over… When we tear down a building, we are wiping out lessons for the future. If we think of it that way, we will begin to understand the emotional impact of wasting the energy and resources used to build it in the first place.”
