Haq Movie Review: Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi Excel in This Compelling Film

by jummy84 November 5, 2025
written by jummy84

The real case that inspired Haq stems from the landmark Shah Bano judgment of 1985, a legal earthquake that redefined how India understood women’s rights, secular law and religious identity. When a divorced Muslim woman sought maintenance under Section 125 of the CrPC, the Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution’s promise of equality was not contingent upon personal law. This ruling forced India to confront a hard question, whether justice could be selectively interpreted based on religion, and whether a Muslim woman was entitled to the same dignity, respect and protection as any other woman in this country. Haq, based on Jigna Vora’s book Bano: Bharat Ki Beti, reinterprets that battle for contemporary India, where these same arguments still quietly simmer under political speech, domestic space, and cultural caution.

In the film, Yami Gautam Dhar plays Shazia Bano, the fictionalised Shah Bano figure, and her performance is the spine of Haq. She plays Shazia not as a symbol, but as a woman who has lived, loved, hurt, doubted, questioned, and yet stands to fight. There is restraint here, but also ferocity, an emotional fluency that never slips into artifice. Her courtroom scenes have a rare clarity. She fights not with chest-thumping melodrama but with lived conviction. The shifting weight in her shoulders, the hesitations in her voice, the quiet with which she absorbs pain, all of that adds a truthful fragility beneath her courage. It is easily one of Yami’s strongest, most commanding screen turns.

Emraan Hashmi, as Abbas Khan, is equally compelling, playing a man shaped by privilege, belief and inherited power structures. He is not painted as a cardboard bigot; he is someone who has never questioned the script handed to him, and that is what makes his downfall tragic instead of theatrical. The more he clings to his ego, the more the system crumbles beneath him. Vartika Singh, as the second wife, leaves a striking impact. She is not reduced to glamour; her arc is empathetic, sensitive, and beautifully textured. Her confrontation moment opposite Yami is one of the film’s most emotionally loaded scenes. And Sheeba Chaddha, as the supporting lawyer on Yami’s side, injects gravity, wit and an unwavering steadiness; she knows exactly how to play strength in silence. Danish Hussain too makes an impact as Yami’s supportive father.

Much of this impact works because the writing is sharp, intelligent and deeply internalised. Reshu Nath’s screenplay understands the emotional minefield of faith versus constitutional rights without turning the narrative into an academic lecture. She builds conflict through spaces of doubt, lived contradiction and internal bias, not just external provocation. And Suparn S Varma’s direction keeps the storytelling grounded and balanced. He refuses sensationalism, he resists easy villainy, and he allows silences to speak. His directorial hand ensures Haq is not a polemic, it is a lived human drama.

While a more non-linear structure could have given the story even greater depth, what Haq achieves is still powerful, it centres the Indian woman’s agency over her life and her choices, irrespective of religious identity. It reminds men that responsibility cannot be abandoned through doctrine. It highlights how law must protect the vulnerable without fear. Haq calls for empathy not uproar.

Haq is a reminder that clarity, reason and moral courage can indeed be cinematic. Watch it for its sincerity, for its grace, for its argument but above all, watch it for the performances that give this battle a beating, breathing human heart. And watch it because it believes that the Indian woman, regardless of faith, deserves the Constitution as her shield, not the mercy of men.

Emraan Hashmi would give up on his diet for this succulent Delhi staple — recipe inside

by jummy84 October 30, 2025
written by jummy84

The true origins of the butter chicken may be contested enough to turn into a legal slip knot (literally). But for all contemporary practical purposes, the silken, succulent menu favourite has Delhi written all over it, much of the thanks for this going to the untouchable legacies of city hotspots like Gulati, Havemore and Moti Mahal to name a few.

Emraan Hashmi would ghost his diet for Delhi’s butter chicken — Chef Sanjeev Kapoor’s recipe (Photos: Instagram, Gulati)

Emraan Hashmi, who was recently in the capital to promote his upcoming film, Haq, also starring Yami Gautam, spilled a little secret. During the audience questions round for Stars In The City with Sonal Kalra, he admitted Delhi’s butter chicken to very much be the dish he’d cheat on his strict diet for.

If you’re looking to give him company in spirit, follow the recipe below.

Butter chicken

Ingredients: Boneless chicken (cut into 1/5 inch pieces) – 400gms, lemon juice – 1tbsp, Kashmiri red chilli powder – 1tsp, salt to taste, butter – 2tbsps; for the marinade — yoghurt 1/2 cup, ginger paste – 2tsps, garlic paste – 2tsps, Kashmiri red chilli powder – 1/2tsp, garam masala powder – 1/2tsp, salt to taste, mustard oil – 2tsps; for the makhni gravy — butter – 2tbps, green cardamoms – 2, cloves – 2, black peppercorns – 2 to 3, cinnamon – 1 inch, ginger paste – 1tsp, garlic paste – 1tsp, tomato puree – 1/2 cup, red chilli powder – 1/2tsp, salt to taste, sugar/honey – 2tbsps, kasoori methi – 1/2tsp, fresh cream – 1/2 cup

Method: Massage the chicken pieces with the lemon juice, chilli powder and salt and refrigerate for half an hour. Hang the curd in a muslin cloth for 10 to 15 minutes as you mix all the ingredients for the marinade. Massage this onto the chicken pieces and refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours. Once the meat is done marinating, pre-heat the oven to 200C and pop the pieces onto skewers. Cook this for 10 to 12 minutes followed by a generous basting of butter. Cook for 2 more minutes and take off heat.

For the makhni gravy, heat generous amounts of butter in a non-stick pan. Add all the spices and cook for 2 minutes; then go in with the ginger and garlic pastes and cook for 2 more minutes. Now add the tomato puree, red chilli powder, salt and half a cup of water. Bring this to a boil then drop the heat to a simmer for 10 minutes. Add the sugar or honey with the kasoori methi next, followed by the cooked chicken. Simmer for 5 more minutes then go in with the fresh cream in a generous swirl.

Serve piping hot with stretchy naan.

(recipe from Chef Sanjeev Kapoor)

So who’s still following through on their diet?

Emraan Hashmi And Yami Gautam’s Intense Courtroom Battle In Haq Trailer Is Unmissable! | Glamsham.com

written by jummy84

The trailer of Haq, starring Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi, dropped on Monday (October 27), offering a stirring glimpse into a powerful story of faith, justice, and identity. Directed by Suparn S Varma, the film draws inspiration from the landmark Shah Bano case — a judgment that reshaped India’s legal and social discourse on women’s rights and personal law.

At its heart, Haq is a gripping courtroom drama that goes beyond legal proceedings to explore deeper themes of belief, equality, and truth. Yami Gautam plays Shazia, a woman whose relentless fight for justice defies both societal norms and systemic constraints. Her courage to challenge injustice ignites a national conversation on women’s autonomy and faith. Opposite her, Emraan Hashmi portrays her husband — a lawyer who becomes her unexpected opponent in court. Their legal battle doubles as an emotional and ideological clash, testing the boundaries of love, conviction, and identity.

The trailer captures an emotionally charged atmosphere filled with fierce exchanges, thought-provoking dialogue, and layered performances. At the launch event, Yami Gautam said, “This story moved me deeply. It’s not just Shazia’s fight — it represents countless women who’ve been told to stay silent. It takes just one voice to make a difference.”

Echoing her sentiment, Emraan Hashmi described Haq as “a warzone of ideas, faith, identity, love, and justice colliding all at once — powerful, provocative, and deeply human.”

Emraan Hashmi REVEALS Real-Life Incident Inspired Ba***ds Of Bollywood Kaho Na Kaho Scene With Raghav Juyal

It has been over a month since Aryan Khan’s Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood premiered, and it continues to attract attention. An unexpected highlight has taken the internet by storm: Emraan Hashmi’s cameo with Raghav Juyal singing Kaho Na Kaho. From Instagram reels to tweets and WhatsApp groups, his brief appearance has quickly become a fan favourite.

Emraan Hashmi REVEALS Real-Life Incident Inspired Kaho Na Kaho Scene With Raghav Juyal

The most memorable moment occurs when Raghav Juyal, portraying a devoted Emraan Hashmi fan in the series, is so starstruck upon meeting his idol that he suddenly breaks into the song “Kaho Na Kaho” from Murder. Emraan himself is left speechless, watching him sing with such passion. As the scene trends across social media, Emraan shared with SCREEN how this moment reflects something from his own life, and how Aryan Khan and co-writers Manav Chauhan and Bilal Siddiqi drew inspiration from it.

“The writer is a very good friend of mine, Bilal. And I have a sneaky feeling that he’s actually taken it from one of my birthday celebrations I had with a fan, where he was also there. This was below my building, and you can see it on, it must be on YouTube also. There’s this fan who started off singing and just wouldn’t stop, and there was this embarrassed expression on my face. Bilal was there; I know he’s taken it from there only,” Emraan explained.

He also reflected on the overwhelming fan response to his cameo, especially to the viral line from the series: “Akha Bollywood ek taraf, Emraan Hashmi ek taraf” (All of Bollywood on one side, Emraan Hashmi on the other). “It’s quite amazing how it’s stuck with people, it’s unbelievable. I went to shoot in Bangkok, and over there also, obviously there’s an Indian population, a sizable one, and this is one thing that’s just stuck like a viral thing,” he added.

Currently, Emraan Hashmi is preparing for his next project with Yami Gautam, Haq, which is based on the infamous Shah Bano case.

Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam Deal With Heartbreak in Dil Tod Gaya Tu From Haq

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

After the release of Qubool, the makers of Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam starrer Haq have dropped another heart wrenching track, Dil Tod Gaya Tu. The song is presented by Junglee Music (a division of Times Music). It captures the pain of heartbreak and the silent ache that follows unspoken goodbyes. Vishal Mishra has composed and sung the song while Kaushal Kishore has penned the lyrics.

Dil Tod Gaya Tu delves into the ache of separation through a melody that mixes raw emotions with cinematic depth. Following the overwhelming response to Qubool, this song takes Haq’s musical journey forward. It rightly captures heartbreak and silence. Emraan and Yami’s characters beautifully portray the same.

Speaking about the song and its visually appealing video, Emraan Hashmi shared, “Dil Tod Gaya Tu carries the emotional weight of heartbreak in the most honest way. Vishal has created something truly beautiful, a song that’s simple, powerful and deeply human.”

Yami Gautam added, “There’s a subtle intensity in Dil Tod Gaya Tu. It’s not just about heartbreak, it’s about everything that remains unsaid after love fades. The music, the lyrics, and the emotion all come together so seamlessly.” Vishal Mishra noted, “This song is very close to my heart. Dil Tod Gaya Tu came from a place of real pain and reflection. It’s about love that changes you, and the silence that follows. Emraan and Yami have expressed that emotion beautifully on screen.”

Mandar Thakur, CEO, Times Music/Junglee Music, said, “After the incredible response to Qubool, Dil Tod Gaya Tu carries forward the soulful essence of Haq. Vishal Mishra continues to create music that resonates deeply, and with Emraan and Yami’s performances, this song becomes an unforgettable cinematic experience.”

Singer : Armaan Khan

Check out Qubool Song Lyrics from Haq starring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam

Mila Asmaan Se Koi Noor Kohinoor Dastoor Mera
Lo Aaj Se Hua Main Sadiyon Ko Tera

Dekho Zara Dekho Naam Tera Likha Hai
Mera Hai Jo Mera Sab Tera Ho Chuka Hai

Dil Pe Ab Na Zor Koi
Har Qadam Teri Or Hai
Saans Hai Khushboo Bhari
Har Raasta Ab Phool Hai

Koi Shart Ho Ya Dard Ho
Yeh Raabta Qubool Hai
Har Saans Hai Khushboo Bhari
Har Raasta Qubool Hai

Koi Shart Ho

Qubool Teri Zid Hai Saari
Saari Baatein Qubool Hain
Qubool Saare Din Tumhaare
Siyah Raatein Qubool Hain

Tu Saaye-Baan Tu, Teri Chaanv Mein Khud Ko Bhulakar Jhoom Loon
Yoon Tera Hoon, Tu Dard De To Dard Ko Bhi Choom Loon
Muskuraana Hai Tujhi Se Tujhse hi Aaraam hai
Tu Nahi To Main Nahi Hoon
Zindagi Tere Naam Hai
Tu Na To Main Bemaaine
Hona Mera Hi Fizool Hai
Koi Shart Ho Ya Dard Ho
Yeh Raabta Qubool Hai

Hai Ishq Mein Jab Doobe Hum
Gham Bhi Mile To Kaisa Gham
Tera Sahi Tera Ghalat
Tera Jhooth Bhi To Qubool Hai
Accha Bura Kya Tolna
Kya Mashwara Kya Sochna
Mahboob Hota Hai Khuda
Yahi Ishq Ka To Usool Hai

Emraan Hashmi reacts to viral B***ds Of Bollywood clip, jokes about his serial kisser tag

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Emraan Hashmi recently gave his reaction on the viral scene from Aryan Khan’s directorial debut series, The B***ds of Bollywood. The clip features Raghav Juyal, playing a devoted Emraan Hashmi fan, singing Kaho Na Kaho from Emraan’s 2004 film, Murder. This nostalgic moment has resonated with fans, who have described it as a perfect throwback to Emraan’s early 2000s work.

During the trailer launch of his upcoming film, Haq, Emraan, responding to the viral scene, mentioned that he had a frank discussion with Aryan Khan and the Red Chillies Entertainment team regarding the scene. He said, “Kuch din pehle hi yeh conversation meri hui Aryan [Khan] aur Red Chillies team ke saath. Humein pata tha viral hoga, lekin is tarah se viral hoga, woh kabhi socha nahi tha. I think it’s a lesson to be learnt.”

He went on to add, “I think iske pehle fans jo hain, woh naam leke pukarte the, ya phir… ek doosra image tha, ‘S’ se shuru hota hai. Main naam nahi loonga, nahi toh raat bhar yahi chalta rahega.” About the long-standing “serial kisser” label, Emraan humorously mentioned that it is quite gratifying to observe discussions about his dialogues, rather than solely focusing on his public image. He joked, “Abhi woh dialogue ka zikr hota hai – so no complaints.”

Emraan, known for his intense performances and popular songs, expressed his pleasure that audiences are now seeing his work in a fresh light. Recently, Raghav too had talked about the viral scene with Emraan Hashmi in The B***ds Of Bollywood.

He had said, “Bahut accha response mila. Expect kiya tha maine bhi aur Aryan ne bhi ke aisa hoga. I really worked hard on myself and created something new. Bahut maza aaya mujhe. Emraan sir aaye aur woh scene hua, main rone bhi lag gaya scene mein! Aur woh bante bante ban gaya aisa scene — bahut hee dil se kiya maine. Agar main comedy karne ki koshish karta toh ajeeb ho jaati, lekin dil se maine aansoo nikale aur woh gaana gaya (I got a really good response. Aryan and I both expected it would turn out this way. I really worked hard on myself and created something new. I enjoyed it a lot. When Emraan sir came and that scene happened, I actually started crying in the scene! And while doing it, the scene just shaped up like that — I did it straight from the heart. If I had tried to do comedy, it would have felt awkward, but I genuinely shed tears and sang that song. I specifically sang the Arabic version because I thought it would come across as funny).”
