Cardi B’s Attorneys Blast Attempt To Reopen A$$ault Case By Former Security Guard: Absolutely Frivolous

#CardiB’s legal team has called the motion for a new trial filed by former security guard Emani Ellis, who accused the rapper of a$$ault, “entirely frivolous.”

Her attorneys argue that the bid comes after a jury cleared her of all related claims and that there is no ground to reopen the case. “[Ellis] fails to establish any permitted grounds for a new trial,” Cardi’s attorneys write in their opposition filed on Wednesday (Nov. 12). They add, “Instead, she repeats her counsel’s accusations of misconduct that are both false and not grounds for a new trial.”

The case stemmed from a $24 million lawsuit filed by Ellis, who alleged #Cardi a$$aulted, spat on, and used racial slurs against her during a 2018 altercation at a Beverly Hills medical office.

A Los Angeles jury unanimously found Cardi not liable for after deliberating for less than an hour.

Outside the courthouse, Cardi affirmed her innocence: “I did not touch that woman.” She went on to say, “With that being said, this time around I’m gonna be nice. The next person to try to do a frivolous lawsuit against me, I’m going to countersue and make you pay because this is not OK.”

Offset is being sued for allegedly attacking a security guard.

Offset is being sued

The former Migos rapper is the subject of a lawsuit from Jim Sanchez, who has claimed the 33-year-old star lashed out when he was asked to show ID at the MedMen LAX cannabis dispensary back in March.

In documents obtained by TMZ, the security guard claimed he asked Offset for proof of identification, which prompted the rapper to become “hostile [and] verbally confrontational” before he allegedly “physically attacked Plaintiff by striking him in the face.”

Sanchez claimed a number of people with the Bodies rapper then piled in to “further assault and batter” him, with the incident leaving him with headaches and neck pain so severe that paramedics took him to hospital.

The man is suing for assault, battery and intentional affliction of emotional distress.

While the Jealousy hitmaker has yet to comment on the lawsuit, at the time of the incident, his spokesperson insisted the allegations were untrue, pointing out that as Offset had just got off a flight at nearby LAX airport, his identification was in his possession in the shop.

The rapper claimed he was in the process of presenting his ID when the security guard “aggressively rushed” him and alleged the man spat in his face, causing a fight to break out.

And when more of the store’s security team got involved, Offset allegedly punched the guard, who sprayed the star and his pals with mace.

Police were called to the scene but the group left.

Meanwhile, the Worth It hitmaker – who has Blossom, 13 months, Wave, four, and Kulture, seven, with estranged with Cardi B, as well as Kody, 10, Jordan, 15, and Kalea Marie, nine, from previous relationships – recently praised his mom for teaching him to instill “discipline” into his children.

Offset said on The Jennifer Hudson Show: “My mom influenced me with raising my kids is just like discipline.

“First off, like when it comes to schooling —not like physical, no — but like when it comes to like schooling and helping my kids understand how important it is. Nothing is going to be given to you.”

Despite this, Offset acknowledged that his kids have a very different childhood compared to his own.

He reflected: “My kids … have a higher lifestyle. So, I help them understand, especially my boys, though, that it’s still going to be a challenging time for you no matter where you go and to always represent us when you’re going.”

Chicago, Illinois Sue To Block Trump’s National Guard Deployment

by jummy84 October 6, 2025

Illinois leaders went to court Monday to stop President Donald Trump from sending National Guard troops to Chicago, escalating a clash between Democratic-led states and the Republican administration during an aggressive immigration enforcement operation in the nation’s third-largest city.
The legal challenge came hours after a judge blocked the Guard’s deployment in Portland, Oregon.
The Trump administration has portrayed the cities as war-ravaged and lawless amid the government’s crackdown on illegal immigration. Officials in Illinois and Oregon say military intervention isn’t needed and that federal involvement is inflaming the situation.
The lawsuit alleges that “these advances in President Trump’s long-declared ‘War’ on Chicago and Illinois are unlawful and dangerous.”
“The American people, regardless of where they reside, should not live under the threat of occupation by the United States military, particularly not simply because their city or state leadership has fallen out of a president’s favor,” the lawsuit says.
Governor: Federal wave is an ‘invasion’
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, a Democrat, said some 300 of the state’s guard troops were to be federalized and deployed to Chicago, along with 400 others from Texas.
Pritzker said the potential deployment amounted to “Trump’s invasion,” and he called on Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to block it. Abbott pushed back and said the crackdown was needed to protect federal workers who are in the city as part of the president’s increased immigration enforcement.
White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson confirmed in a weekend statement that Trump authorized using Illinois National Guard members, citing what she called “ongoing violent riots and lawlessness” that local leaders have not quelled.
In Chicago, the sight of armed Border Patrol agents making arrests near famous landmarks amplified concerns from residents already uneasy after an immigration crackdown that began last month. Agents have targeted immigrant-heavy and largely Latino areas.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said Monday that he signed an executive order barring federal immigration agents and others from using city-owned property, such as parking lots, garages and vacant lots, as staging areas for enforcement operations.
Mayor limits protest hours at ICE site
Protesters have frequently rallied near an immigration facility outside the city, and federal officials reported the arrests of 13 protesters on Friday near the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Broadview. Mayor Katrina Thompson, citing safety and other factors, said she was limiting protests to 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Elsewhere in the area, the Department of Homeland Security acknowledged that agents shot a woman Saturday on the southwest side of Chicago. The department said it happened after Border Patrol agents patrolling the area were “rammed by vehicles and boxed in by 10 cars.”
Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling said it was reasonable for agents to believe they were being ambushed.
Portland says no crime crisis there
In Portland, U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut on Sunday granted a temporary restraining order sought by Oregon and California to block the deployment of Guard troops from those states to the city.
Immergut, who was appointed by Trump during his first term, seemed incredulous that the president moved to send National Guard troops to Oregon from neighboring California and then from Texas on Sunday, just hours after she had ruled against it the first time.
“Aren’t defendants simply circumventing my order?” she said. “Why is this appropriate?”
Local officials have suggested that many of the president’s claims and social media posts about Portland appear to rely on images from 2020. Five years later, the city has reduced crime, and downtown has seen fewer homeless encampments and more foot traffic.
There has been a sustained and low-level protest outside the Portland ICE facility, but it’s been less disruptive than the downtown clashes of 2020 when demonstrations erupted after George Floyd’s killing.
Most violent crime around the U.S. has actually declined in recent years, including in Portland, where homicides from January through June decreased by 51% to 17 this year compared to the same period in 2024, data shows.
Since the start of his second term, Trump has sent or talked about sending troops to 10 cities, including Baltimore; Memphis, Tennessee; the District of Columbia; New Orleans; and the California cities of Oakland, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
A federal judge in September said the administration “willfully” broke federal law by deploying guard troops to Los Angeles over protests about immigration raids.

Cardi B Denies Assault, Admits To Cursing At Security Guard Suing Her

Cardi B finally took the stand this week for her civil trial connected to allegedly assaulting a security guard in 2018. The 32-year-old artist denied making any physical contact with the alleged victim, but did admit to cursing at them.

The Bronx star appeared in Alhambra court in Los Angeles this past Tuesday (Aug. 26) for the second day of the civil trial, per the Los Angeles Times. She revealed that she was visiting the obstetrician’s office while four months pregnant, due to concerns about her pregnancy, which was not public at the time. She got infuriated because she felt like Emani Ellis, the security guard, was recording her with a cellphone.

She claimed that she asked her why she was recording her, and Ellis said, “My bad,” only to continue following her and recording her because she allegedly had the right to do so. Cardi admitted that she never saw proof that she was being recorded.

“It was a verbal incident,” the “Outside” rapper said. “She didn’t hit me. I didn’t hit her. There was no touching. So, to me, it wasn’t no incident.” The Grammy winner admitted that she and Ellis were chest to chest at one point while in the hallway outside of the doctor’s office, which prompted Ellis’s lawyer, Ron Rosen, to ask some follow-up questions.

Cardi denied calling Ellis the N-word, spitting at her, or taking a swing, doubling down on the claim that their interaction was nothing more than a “verbal fight.” Rosen offered a distinction between a fight and a verbal altercation, proceeding to ask the mother of three if they were having the latter in that moment.

Cardi countered and said they were “debating,” which caused members of the courtroom to laugh. “We’re debating about whether you assaulted and battered Ms. Emani Ellis?” Rosen asked. “I guess so,” Cardi replied. “But I didn’t touch her. She didn’t touch me.”

Ellis first sued the hitmaker in 2020, accusing her of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and false imprisonment. During her testimony, the security guard admitted to being excited about seeing Cardi B in her workplace.

Cardi allegedly got angry with Ellis for supposedly informing people that she was in the doctor’s office, and proceeded to curse at her, call her the N-word, body shame her, mock her job, and threaten to get her fired. Ellis also claimed that the Am I The Drama? rapper took a swing at her, scratched her on the cheek, and spat on her.
