Great Yorkshire Event Centre – filming location for Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale

Organisers of the Great Yorkshire Show can reveal that the Showground in Harrogate features in the highly anticipated third Downton Abbey movie.

Hundreds of cast, crew and extras were based on the Showground where filming took place for some scenes in Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale.

The film was released globally with a cast that includes Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley) and Elizabeth McGovern (Cora Crawley).

Actor Jim Carter who plays Mr Carson told ITV This Morning that he was born in Harrogate and even learned to ride his bike at the Showground.

Scenes shot at the Showground were based on the Yorkshire County Show, set in 1930, using both permanent and temporary structures on site.

The collecting ring used by riders warming up to compete at the Great Yorkshire Show, was also used as part of the film.

The Showground’s events team who manage the venues and outdoor space throughout the year as The Great Yorkshire Events Centre, worked with the production crew to ensure it was seamless.

Allister Nixon CEO of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, a registered charity which owns the Showground said: “Our events team from the Great Yorkshire Events Centre had multiple meetings with producers to ensure we found the right location for them including access to power and co-ordinating hire of structures and signage as well as areas to store props and equipment, catering and dressing room trailers.

“Our events team here are used to dealing with film and TV crews who hire our indoor and outdoor spaces and it was a real privilege for us to host such a prestigious production.

“We are proud to be flexible and diverse to meet the requirements of film crews whether it’s within our buildings and event spaces or at any part of our 250 acre grounds. We very much look forward to seeing the film!”

All profits raised from space hired or events held on the Showground which operates the Great Yorkshire Events Centre throughout the year, goes back to the registered charity YAS to support the farming industry.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale ending explained: what happens to Mary?

After 15 years across the big and small screen, Downton Abbey takes its final bow with Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale.

Directed by Simon Curtis, who helmed the last big screen outing Downton Abbey: The New Era, the concluding chapter follows the Crawley family and their staff as they enter the 1930s amid a public scandal involving Mary (Michelle Dockery).

It is the third film in the Downton Abbey franchise, which originally began as a TV show in 2010. The series spanned six seasons and concluded in December 2015.

Along with Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter, Paul Giamatti, Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Carmichael, Joanne Froggatt and others reprise their roles. Newcomers to the cast include Joey Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale and Arty Froushan.

What happens to Mary at the end of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale?

After Mary (Michelle Dockery) manages to rehabilitate her reputation following the divorce outcry, Robert (Hugh Bonneville) entrusts her to manage Downton Abbey. Robert decides to move into the Dower house previously occupied by his mother Violet (Maggie Smith), who died in the previous film Downton Abbey: The New Era.

This leaves Mary, the granddaughter of Violet, to take the reins at Downton Abbey and steer its future. In an emotional closing scene, she parts ways with the rest of the Crawley family, including her maid Anna (Joanne Froggatt) and sister Edith (Laura Carmichael).

What happens in the final scene?

In the final scene, Mary looks around Downton Abbey and sees visions of characters who have died over the years. This includes her late husband Matthew (Dan Stevens), her late grandmother Violet (Maggie Smith), and her late sister Sybil (Jessica Brown Findlay).

As she wells up with emotion, Mary walks away and the camera rests on the portrait of her late grandmother Violet, in tribute to the late Maggie Smith.

Speaking about the scene to USA Today, creator Julian Fellowes said: “Maggie haunts the film in many ways. Cora says to Robert, ‘We’ll be sharing it with your mother’s ghost,’ and he says, ‘She’s part of our story. It’s all part of our story.’

“I wanted to make the point that we are all the result of many things that have happened; many people that have come into our lives and some of them left it. Somehow, you have to find a place for all of that.”

Is there a post-credit scene?

There is a mid-credits scene which shows various couples enjoying their new life together, including Thomas (Rob James-Collier) and Guy Dexter (Dominic West), and Charlie Carson (Jim Carter) and Elsie Hughes (Phyllis Hogan).

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan have featured in a new commercial, where they talked about how well they knew each other.

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan are certainly one of the most well-known celebrity couples in the industry. Fans have been eager to see the two on screen, given their last outing together was in 2012’s Agent Vinod. Kareena and Saif finally united on screen again, though this time it is only for a brand commercial.

On Friday, Kareena’s Instagram account was tagged in a new post with Spotify India. The post had a new ad which featured Kareena along with Saif. Kareena began by saying, “I know my Saif. He is not about grand gestures. For him, it is about the little things.” In response, Saif showed his big ‘Kareena’ tattoo on his hand and said, “Lagta hai tattoo thoda little reh gaya (It seems the tattoo was little)!”

Then, Kareena says that he also likes her surprise gifts- which was a drum set. Turns out, Saif likes to play guitar instead. Kareena also adds that in his spare time he likes to listen to ghazals. However, upon taking Saif’s phone and opening the Spotify app, she is surprised to know some remix song added to his playlist!

Several fans reacted to the fun and light-hearted ad featuring Kareena and Saif in the comments section of the post. One said, “It is giving major Modern Family vibe, love it. plus can’t take eyes off from Kareena, her expressions are OG!” Another said, “This is amazing! Soo long since we saw Saif and you together in anything!” A comment read, “Love these two! So cute!”

Kareena and Saif married in October 2012 in Mumbai, after a few years of dating. He was earlier married to actor Amrita Singh. They parted ways in 2004. Saif and Amrita have two children Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. Saif and Kareena have two sons – Taimur Ali Khan (born in 2016) and Jehangir Ali Khan (born in 2021).

After 57 days of filming, Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday have officially wrapped their next film Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, and the celebrations on the last day were full of joy. Kartik took to social media to post a heartfelt note along with a behind the scenes video that featured dancing, laughter, and a big cake cutting moment. He shared a collab post with Ananya, showing fans a glimpse of their bond off screen.


In his message, Kartik described the experience as “an unforgettable, fun filled, super fast roller coaster ride” and thanked the team for making it possible. He credited director Sameer Vidwans for his vision and praised producers Shareen Mantri and Kishor Arora for their support. “Energies matter. Vibes matter,” he wrote, reflecting on the positive atmosphere on set.

Kartik also had a special mention for Ananya, calling her a “wonderful costar” and adding, “No one else could have brought to life what you did in TMMT.” He expressed how grateful he was to work for the first time with Jackie Shroff and Neena Gupta, saying he valued their “blessings and learnings.” He also appreciated writer Karan Sharma for creating his character Ray, which he feels fans will love as much or more than his popular role of Sattu from Satyaprem Ki Katha.

The wrap celebrations were made even more special with the presence of Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Bhumika Bhandula, and Adar Poonawalla. This project marks Kartik’s reunion with Sameer Vidwans and also his first collaboration with Dharma Productions. It comes years after Dostana 2 was shelved during the pandemic. Closing his note, Kartik told fans, “Can’t wait for you all to laugh, smile, and fall in love. See you at the theatres.”

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is all set to hit the theatres on September 12. The film follows the Crawley family and their staff as they enter a new era of the 1930s, also the one where Lady Mary Talbot (Michelle Dockery) finds herself at the centre of a public scandal. The family faces the concerns of financial trouble, all while the entire household grapples with the threat of social disgrace. 
Directed by Simon Curtis, this edition of Downton Abbey transports viewers to the Crawley family and the household servants enjoying the glittering London Season in the summer of 1930. As the festive elite gather at Lady Petersfield’s Ball – the highlight of the social calendar – a shocking announcement brings Mary to the centre of public scandal: newly divorced, her aristocratic identity redirects her from the position of society darling to shamed outcast. Alongside the family’s financial worries, they are also dealing with the aftermath of this newly minted divorce being publicised.
Talking about the film and what the audience can expect, Curtis shared, “This film is a loving portrait of the characters as they enter the 1930s, and we really dig into the characters’ emotions at the end of the story we’re telling. I was thrilled because, as a director, I simply love working with actors, and this is the greatest ensemble of British actors around. And then you add the amazing guest stars we’ve got, and it’s a dream come true.”

The central storyline, being Mary’s divorce, which holds dire significance in the 1930s for a family with this social standing, positions Mary as an impressive businesswoman, well-equipped to take on the outrageous controversy. Set against the backdrop of elegance and tradition, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale explores themes of dignity and transformation, eloquently incorporated by writer Julian Fellowes.

The director continued, “I love those little moments of humanity between the different characters, with the added poignancy that, very often, these moments are their final moments together. Julian has such great humanity, and he gives every character, no matter what their class or their sex or their age, dignity, wit and warmth.”

ARTMS announce new ‘Grand Club Icarus’ tour dates

ARTMS have announced a new slate of ‘Grand Club Icarus’ tour dates – see the full list of dates and venues below.

The Modhaus group have shared details of the first leg of their ‘Grand Club Icarus’ world tour, in support of their new EP ‘Club Icarus’. The trek will see them perform across North America this November.

It’ll begin in Baltimore, and will be followed by stops in Medford, Toronto, Madison, St. Louis, Ft. Lauderdale, Atlanta, Denver, Tempe, Los Angeles and Monterey. More dates across other regions are expected to be announced soon.

The tour reveal comes two months after ARTMS shared their latest EP ‘Club Icarus’. The group spoke to NME about the project ahead of its release. Member HaSeul explained the EP’s theme to us: “The idea is to heal the souls that’ve been hurt. Even [if] the myth of Icarus itself is quite a tragedy – but the idea is to heal such a soul. If you watch our music video when it’s released, then I’m sure you’d fully understand it.”

The girl group is made up of five LOONA members: Kim Lip, Choerry, JinSoul, HaSeul and HeeJin. ARTMS joined Modhaus in 2023, a label established by former LOONA producer Jaden Jeong, following their departure from BlockBerry Creative.

They also told NME about the chances of a LOONA reunion: “Although there’s nothing set in stone, if there’s an opportunity – we’d really want to do it. Our recent world tour, ‘Lunar Theory’, was to continue the legacy of LOONA, and we’ve been performing a lot of LOONA’s songs. It really made me nostalgic, so It’d be great to have all of us perform together again.”

Blue Note Los Angeles Grand Opening Weekend: Recap

Blue Note Los Angeles will quickly become the go-to spot for you, your faves, and theirs, too.

The lounge formally opened its doors on Thursday (Aug. 14) with back-to-back jam sessions starring Robert Glasper and friends. During the second show of night one, Affion Crockett, D Smoke, and Shock G‘s protégé, Young Hump, all took to the stage to welcome guests with delightful, impromptu performances.

Crockett impersonated JAY-Z and later freestyled a few bars: “I ain’t revealing who the killer is/ And who the most responsible villain […] I ain’t wishing death on nobody/ I’m wishing remission/ That we go back to the day of Special Ed and the mission […] Need to get a respirator/ Maybe hook ’em to phonics/ So, we can clean up the bulls**t/ Hip-Hop needs a colonic…”

When D Smoke took the stage, he reminded the audience, “This is not some planned s**t by any means.” He wound up performing “Shine” and praised the brilliance of his cousin, Tiffany Gouché. Throughout the weekend, other special guests included Aja Monét, Quinta Brunson, Omar J. Dorsey, Vic Mensa, Buddy, and more.

For the famed musician and Creative Ambassador of the venue, Glasper gushed on Instagram, “I’m still floating from the grand opening of @bluenotelosangeles on Sunset! What a moment. What a MOMENT. The energy in that room was pure magic — from the first note to the last, we had something special brewing. Blue Note LA officially opened its doors on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood on Thursday, Aug. 14, and to be the one to christen this legendary space in LA? Man, that’s not lost on me.”

He continued, “The West Coast needed this. Music needed this. WE needed this. Being a creative ambassador for Blue Note LA isn’t just an honor— it’s a responsibility I take seriously. This isn’t just another venue, this is a sanctuary for the culture. Shoutout to every single soul that came through – the musicians, the lovers of music, the family, the friends. Y’all made that room LIVE. The connection was real, the vibes were immaculate, and the music… chef’s kiss. This is just the beginning, LA. We bout to do some beautiful things in this space. The lineage continues, the story keeps writing itself, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.”

Alex Isley kicked off the stacked lineup with four shows across two nights. Upcoming performers include Emily King, Terrace Martin, Kenyon Dixon, Tank and The Bangas, Andra Day, BJ The Chicago Kid, José James, and Kamasi Washington. The full list can be found on Blue Note LA’s official website.
