Jimmy Carr criticised for supporting Graham Linehan on anti-trans tweets

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Jimmy Carr has sparked criticism after showing support for Graham Linehan following the latter’s anti-trans social media comments.

Linehan, who co-created Father Ted and The IT Crowd, made headlines last month when he was arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of inciting violence in relation to his posts on social media.

While the Met Police did not confirm the identity of the person arrested, they added that after being taken into custody, officers had become concerned for his well-being and he was taken to the hospital. His condition was said to be neither life-threatening nor life-changing, and he was later bailed pending further investigation.

Writing on Substack, Linehan shared details of his arrest and claimed that he had been “arrested at an airport like a terrorist” (via The Independent). He then added that he was questioned by the police over posts made on X/Twitter in April, relating to him challenging a “trans-identified male” in a “female-only space”.

Now, comedian and TV host Carr has voiced support for Linehan while in the US.

The moment took place on stage in Minnesota as part of Jimmy Carr’s Laughs Funny Tour. Carr asked audience members to submit questions – one of which was: “Welcome to Minnesota, Jimmy. Do you have any good jokes that would get you arrested at Heathrow?”

Responding, Carr said: “Yeah! Graham Linehan… I fucking love Graham. Because whether you agree with Graham or J.K. Rowling or not, you have to admit the thing that’s in short supply in our society is bravery…”

“You’ve got The First Amendment…Cherish it.”

— Jimmy Carr (@jimmycarr) October 27, 2025

He continued: “He lost his family, he lost his career, he lost everything. And then he was getting fucking arrested at the airport. Fucking madness… You’ve got the First Amendment. Fucking cherish it.”

Linehan has said that Carr went to visit him in the midst of him “being cancelled” and attempting to “save” his marriage and career (as per Daily Mail).

Responding to Carr’s backing of the Father Ted creator, some on social media have criticised the 8 Out Of 10 Cats host.

“What’s brave about ongoing, targeted harassment of the entirety of a vulnerable minority group,” one person wrote in response to Carr sharing a clip from the show online. “He was arrested for HARRASSMENT, not for his ‘opinion’,” another added. “It’s a criminal charge. Aren’t you Cambridge-educated?”

A third responded: “So brave being a bully.”

What’s brave about ongoing, targeted harassment of the entirety of a vulnerable minority group?

— Jamie (@JamieCutteridge) October 27, 2025

He was arrested for HARRASSMENT, not for his “opinion.” How low can one be shifting the narrative – hang on; LYING like a true SOB?
Again, he was arrested for harrassment. It’s a criminal charge. Aren’t you Cambridge-educated? I’d assume you possess *some* comprehensive skills.

— stephen mc everton (@goodison2) October 27, 2025

Linehan himself also took to X to share a response to the comedian’s on stage comments, thanking him for backing him up.

“Delighted that Jimmy Carr has shown support,” he wrote. “I couldn’t expect him to defend me earlier because the same people who came after me were constantly trying to cancel him.

“They nearly succeeded a number of times so I certainly didn’t want his career on my conscience.”

Delighted that Jimmy Carr has shown support. I hope it’s now safe to say that he alone visited me when I was being cancelled and trying desperately to save my marriage and career. He wasn’t even a close friend, so it was exceptionally kind.

— Graham Linehan (@Glinner) October 26, 2025

I couldn’t expect him to defend me earlier because the same people who came after me were constantly trying to cancel him. They nearly succeeded a number of times so I certainly didn’t want his career on my conscience.

— Graham Linehan (@Glinner) October 26, 2025

In his Substack post last month, detailing the arrest at Heathrow, the writer shared: “The moment I stepped off the plane at Heathrow, five armed police officers were waiting. Not one, not two—five. They escorted me to a private area and told me I was under arrest for three tweets.”

In response to Linehan’s claim that he was arrested by armed officers, the Met said: “The arrest was made by officers from the MPS Aviation Unit. It is routine for officers policing airports to carry firearms. These were not drawn or used at any point during the arrest.”

Linehan went on to add that after he was escorted to a cell, he was escorted to A&E as it was found that his blood pressure was in “stroke territory” because “the stress of being arrested for jokes was literally threatening my life”.

The Telegraph reports that he has since been informed by the Crown Prosecution Service that, after a “careful review” of his posts online, there will be no further action.

BBC News also shares that Linehan, with the aid of the Free Speech Union, has said that he will be suing the Metropolitan Police for wrongful arrest and a breach of his free speech rights.

Linehan has made headlines with his anti-transgender views in recent years, being a vocal opponent of concepts including gender self-identification and what he has described as “trans ideology”. These are rumoured to be behind a Father Ted musical being axed in 2022.

In 2018, Linehan was issued a verbal harassment warning by police after he was involved in an online row with a transgender activist.

bitchy | Maine senatorial candidate Graham Platner swears he covered up his Nazi tattoo

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

A lot of politicos are already looking ahead to the midterms next year. I get that people want to be prepared, but there’s an election this year! My state, Virginia, is voting in all of the state-government races, including governor (go Spanberger!). NYC is voting for mayor. New Jersey is voting for governor & legislature. There are tons of local and state ballot measures and races to vote on, and it’s important to vote in off-years. That’s my PSA before I get into a big controversy up north.

So, next year, Maine will have a Senate race. Profoundly unpopular Republican Senator Susan Collins is running for reelection, and Democrats have been trying to field a good candidate to run against her. Certain politicos think they found their guy: Graham Platner, a veteran and former Blackwater mercenary. I think the podbros spent all of two minutes grooming Platner for this run – while he certainly has a suspiciously astroturfed campaign apparatus, his primary run has already been marred by controversy after controversy. The biggest of which is that the man has a Nazi tattoo (which he covered up).

Graham Platner, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Maine, said on Wednesday that he had covered up a tattoo that he got years ago that resembled a Nazi symbol. Mr. Platner, who is running for the seat held by Senator Susan Collins since 1997, said in a video podcast interview that was broadcast on Tuesday that he got the tattoo, a skull-and-crossbones image that is widely recognized as a Nazi symbol, while drunk 18 years ago and was unaware of its extremist association.

Mr. Platner, a Marine veteran and oyster farmer, has also come under scrutiny for a series of posts he made years ago on Reddit that played down sexual assault in the military and criticized the police and white Americans living in rural areas.

Mr. Platner acknowledged the tattoo in an episode of the podcast Pod Save America. The podcast played a video clip from a decade ago in which Mr. Platner dances shirtless, with the tattoo visible, at a bar while lip-syncing to a Miley Cyrus song at his brother’s wedding. A host of the podcast, Tommy Vietor, said that some of Mr. Platner’s “political opponents” had been telling reporters that he had a tattoo “with Nazi affiliation.”

Mr. Platner said on the podcast, which is hosted by former Obama aides, that he got the tattoo in 2007 in Split, Croatia, and that he and other Marines had chosen a “terrifying-looking skull and crossbones off the wall” and that “skulls and crossbones are a pretty standard military thing.”

“I am not a secret Nazi,” Mr. Platner said on the podcast. In a statement, Mr. Platner reiterated that he was not aware of the tattoo’s Nazi connections when he got it. “It was not until I started hearing from reporters and D.C. insiders that I realized this tattoo resembled a Nazi symbol,” he said. “I absolutely would not have gone through life having this on my chest if I knew that — and to insinuate that I did is disgusting.”

He added in the statement that he had never tried to hide the tattoo, including during a physical examination he had when enlisting in the Army that he said included a check for tattoos with hate symbols. His campaign confirmed in an email on Wednesday that he had gotten the tattoo covered.

Deborah Lipstadt, a professor of modern Jewish history and Holocaust Studies at Emory University, said that the skull and crossbones symbol depicted in Mr. Platner’s tattoo, known as the Totenkopf, was, after the swastika, one of the most well-known symbols from World War II. Guards at Nazi concentration camps wore the symbol prominently on their caps, Professor Lipstadt said. Its seemed “disingenuous” that Mr. Platner would not know the symbol’s Nazi links given his military experience, she said.

[From The NY Times]

Despite Platner’s excuses now, there are stories circulating that Platner actually did know what he had tattooed, to the point where he even described it as “my Totenkopf.” So, now there are Democratic activists (like the podbros) excusing the whole “Nazi tattoo” thing. Like, whomst among us has not gotten a Nazi tattoo, amirite? Which has led to revulsion across the Democratic Party, like “not having a Nazi tattoo” should be pretty standard.

Additionally, the Nazi tattoo is covering up a host of other issues with Platner, including a lengthy history of online homophobia, blaming women for being raped, and the kind of general racism you’d expect from someone with a Totenkopf tattoo.

Kim Kardashian to appear on The Graham Norton Show tonight

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

The Graham Norton Show is gearing up to welcome a starry line-up tonight led by Kim Kardashian.

The reality star and businesswoman will appear on the BBC One chat show to talk about her upcoming drama series All’s Fair, in which she plays a high-powered divorce attorney.

Kardashian will be joined by Sarah Paulson, who she co-stars with in the Disney Plus series.

Former Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston will also feature on the programme to talk about his new role in the upcoming adaptation of Arthur Miller’s play All my Sons, which is set to run at Wyndham’s Theatre in London’s West End from 13th November until 7th March.

Actress Rachel Zegler will also be chatting to Graham about her recent award-winning performance as Evita on the West End.

During tonight’s episode, Kardashian – who made her acting debut in American Horror Story: Delicate in 2023 – says of her first leading role: “Working with a cast like this I wanted to make sure I was completely prepared. What I could control was absolutely knowing my lines, being on time and being super professional.

“These women are the greatest at what they do, and I just watched and learned every day. It was an honour, and I have just had the best time. Working with these women was like summer camp.”

Talking about her acting ambitions, she says: “I have a few projects coming up – I film my first movie in January, and we are hoping for a season 2 of All’s Fair. I always want to be growing, curious and evolving, and I want to see wherever that takes me.”

Revealing that the results of her bar exams are due soon, she adds: “I will be qualified in two weeks. I hope to practise law. Maybe in 10 years I think I’ll give up being Kim K and be a trial lawyer. That’s what I really want.”

Created by Ryan Murphy, All’s Fair follows a group of women who band together to launch their own divorce law firm and go to great lengths to get what they (and their clients) want.

Alongside Kardashian and Paulson, the star-studded cast also includes Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Teyana Taylor, Matthew Noszka, Sarah Paulson and Glenn Close

A trailer was previously released, showing tension arising between Kardashian and Paulson’s characters when Noszka’s character tries to play the former at her own game.

The official logline reads: “Fierce, brilliant, and emotionally complicated, they navigate high-stakes breakups, scandalous secrets, and shifting allegiances — both in the courtroom and within their own ranks. In a world where money talks and love is a battleground, these women don’t just play the game — they change it.”

The Graham Norton Show airs on Friday 24th October at 10:40pm on BBC One.

Florence + The Machine stopped by The Graham Norton Show on Friday to promote their upcoming album, Everybody Scream. The appearance featured a powerhouse performance of the title track, followed by Florence Welch sitting down for an interview alongside fellow guests Bruce Springsteen, Jeremy Allen White, Jennifer Lawrence, and Tessa Thompson.

Welch belted out “Everybody Scream” with furious intensity, backed by a choir with synchronized choreography. Their literal screams added to the already haunting nature of the performance, which was accentuated by a tight rhythm section and dynamic piano. Watch a replay below.

During Welch’s chat with Norton, she referenced previously guesting on the show alongside Springsteen before revealing that his Born in the U.S.A. cut “I’m Goin’ Down” was one of the first songs she ever performed. At the time, she only “had three of my own songs” while playing “pubs and clubs of London.”

The guest panel then joked about the two artists doing a duet of the track when they next appear on the show together. Welch also confirmed that the Halloween release date of Everybody Scream was an intentional move: “I actually turned this album around faster than usual because I just wanted to make this day. We have to make this day because it all rhymes: Florence + The Machine, Everybody Scream, out on Halloween.”

Marking the follow-up to 2022’s Dance Fever, the album also features last month’s single, “One of the Greats.” Grab your physical copy here.

Florence + The Machine have yet to announce a North American tour, but are set to embark on a run of dates in the UK and Europe beginning in February 2026. Get tickets here.

Ex-NFL Star Jay Graham Arrested In Nashville Sting After Allegedly Trying To Pay 16-Year-Old For S*x – Fired From Coaching Job

Former NFL running back and Tennessee high school coach Herman “Jay” Graham III was arrested after allegedly attempting to solicit an underage girl. Police records reviewed by Us Weekly show the 50-year-old was booked on prostitution and patronizing charges involving a minor between 15 and 18 on Wednesday, October 15.

Authorities say Graham was one of three men caught during a police sting operation in Nashville. According to WSMV, undercover officers posted ads on adult websites, and Graham allegedly responded, arranging to meet someone he believed to be a 16-year-old girl for $120 at a local hotel. He was arrested after reportedly handing over the payment.

Graham, who had no prior criminal record, was hired at Centennial High School in Franklin, Tennessee, in July 2025 as a substitute teacher and coach before becoming a full-time employee. Following his arrest, Principal Dr. Clarissa Haymon notified parents, writing, “Our head football coach Jay Graham was arrested today during a sting operation in Nashville on two felony charges of patronizing prostitution and solicitation of a minor to commit statutory r@pe.”

Haymon confirmed Graham was fired from the coaching staff and suspended without pay from his teaching role, adding, “He will not be allowed on our campus.” She also told families that law enforcement found no threat to students and that counselors would be available for support.

Before coaching, Graham played for the Baltimore Ravens, Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers, retiring in 2002 before joining the Canadian Football League. He later coached at several Tennessee programs, including UT Chattanooga, UT Martin, South Carolina, Florida State, and the University of Tennessee. Stephen Graham won the lead limited series actor Emmy on Sunday, recognizing his portrayal of Eddie Miller in Netflix’s “Adolescence,” which he co-created.

“This kind of thing doesn’t normally happen to a kid like me. I’m just a mixed-race kid from a block of flats in a place called Kirkby,” said Graham, who is of Swedish and Jamaican descent. “To be here today in front of my peers, and to be acknowledged by you, is the utmost humbling thing I could imagine my life, and it shows you that any dream is possible.”

Graham is best known for film roles including Guy Ritchie’s “Snatch” (2000) and Martin Scorsese’s “Gangs of New York” (2002). He also played Andrew “Combo” Gascoigne in the 2006 film “This Is England” and reprised the role in three sequel miniseries that aired in 2010, 2011 and 2015. Ahan Shetty And Patrick Graham Team Up! India’s First Horror Film Based On Real-Life Tragedy! | Glamsham.com

Actor Ahan Shetty is stepping into uncharted territory with India’s first horror film inspired by a real-life national tragedy. Produced by Khyati Madaan’s Not Out Entertainment in collaboration with Prashant Gunjalkar, the film is set to go on floors in early 2026. Blending horror, romance, and thriller elements, the project promises a mass entertainer with a powerful emotional core.

Backed by an Acclaimed Writer

The script is penned by Patrick Graham, the mind behind Ghoul and Betaal—the only Indian horror series developed under Blumhouse Television, the global banner behind Get Out, The Purge, and Paranormal Activity. Graham’s track record of creating chilling, high-concept stories has raised anticipation around this project, which aims to redefine horror in Hindi cinema.

Ahan’s Career Shift

Ahan, who made his debut with the romantic drama Tadap, delivered a strong start at the box office. He will next be seen in Border 2, a patriotic spectacle starring Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Varun Dhawan, slated for a Republic Day 2026 release. While Border 2 positions him firmly in the mass-action space, this upcoming horror drama reflects a bold tonal departure, showcasing his willingness to experiment across genres.

Production and Vision

The film’s title and female lead will be revealed soon, but the makers have confirmed it will be a theatrical horror experience, designed to appeal to a wide audience. Khyati Madaan, who has worked with top studios like Red Chillies Entertainment, Disney India, and Maddock Films, launched Not Out Entertainment in 2024 with the mission to revive theatrical Hindi cinema. Her slate already includes Abhootpurva, a romantic horror-comedy, and a slice-of-life drama by National Award-winner Habib Faisal.

Graham Greene, ‘Dances With Wolves’ actor and Oscar nominee, dead at 73

by jummy84 September 2, 2025

Oscar-nominated Canadian actor Graham Greene, who broke through with memorable roles across several genres at a time when the entertainment industry shunned Indigenous talent, has died at age 73.

Greene’s management team said he died on Monday in Stratford, Ont., after a long illness.

The actor, who was born in Ohsweken, Ont., and is from the Six Nations Reserve, starred in a steady stream of film, television and theatre projects from the late 1970s onward.

He earned an Oscar nomination for the supporting role of “Kicking Bird” in the 1990 film Dances With Wolves, an American western co-starring and directed by Kevin Costner that won best picture.

Last year, he won a Canadian Screen Award for playing a version of himself in the comedy thriller Seeds, directed by Kaniehtiio Horn.

Horn, who was born in Ottawa and raised on a Mohawk reserve, says she first encountered Greene’s work when her family would rent the 1991 film Clearcut from their local video store.

“He was playing this playful, badass character,” Horn told The Canadian Press on Sunday night. “He was one of the first roles that I think we saw where we could actually cheer for the Indigenous character as he enacted some revenge.”

“It was really cathartic to watch for a lot of Indigenous people, especially after the Oka Crisis in the early ’90s,” she said.

That performance remained one to watch for Horn as she later became an actor.

“You can tell he’s having fun as an actor. That is just the best thing to watch, because he really made it his own,” Horn said.

Horn and Greene would end up working together on the Syfy series Defiance as well as the FX hit Reservation Dogs. By the time she had cast him in her directorial debut Seeds they had built up what she described as a “niece-uncle” rapport. Horn said crews shot Greene’s scenes over the course of one day and said she loved riffing back-and-forth on set together.

“Getting him to play and improvise…it was a little bit surreal, but he made it easy for me. I feel like he just wanted me to do good, and he would tell me that. He would tell me that he’s proud of me,” she said.

Horn said Greene’s death marks the loss of “one of the old guard,” likening him to other seasoned Indigenous actors such as Gary Farmer and Wes Studi.

She added Greene was an inspiration for not allowing himself to be pigeonholed into one type of role.

“As much as they probably wanted to stereotype him … he never let that happen. And even then, the ‘natives on the horse’ roles that he got, he stood out and made those roles his own and just interesting to watch.”
