Nagarjuna’s iconic film Shiva is scheduled to re-release and hit theatres on November 14, 2025. The youthful action drama is hitting the screens in a grand 4K Dolby Atmos. Ahead of its release, several top directors and actors have been talking about the cult classic and sharing their experiences. Megastar Chiranjeevi is the latest celeb to talk about the Nagarjuna-starrer.

RGV’s apology

In his video, Chiranjeevi recalled Shiva’s impact when it first hit theatres in 1989. Apart from praising Nagarjuna’s intense performance, Amala and antagonist Raghuvaran, he hailed Ram Gopal Varma for his directorial finesse and technical brilliance. In his response, RGV thanked Chiranjeevi for his kind words. The filmmaker also took the occasion to tender his apology to Chiranjeevi if ever he had ‘unintentionally’ offended him. The director thanked Chiru for his large heartedness.

RGV, on several occasions, criticized Chiranjeevi and his brother Pawan Kalyan on social media platforms. The filmmaker passed several controversial remarks about the two stars and also took satirical digs through his films. However, it looks like RGV has moved on from that phase, distancing himself from political influences and returning to his ‘labour of love,’ filmmaking. He had recently resumed his directing career in Hindi, and apologizing to Chiru is a testament to it.

Shiva re-release after 36 years

Nagarjuna-starrer Shiva was a trendsetter in Telugu cinema. The RGV directorial released on October 5, 1989 and became a cult classic. After 36 years, it is re-releasing with state-of-the-art technology integrated into the film. Celebrating the re-release, Nagarjuna stated that the audiences will be blown away by the magnificent sound design. “The stunning remastered version will give the audiences an immersive experience. The original sound was re-done and converted to a Dolby Atmos mix using advanced AI engineering,” said the actor. Interestingly, while Damodar worked on the sound effects for Shiva, his grandson worked on the remastered version.

The buzz arrives as the cult film Rangeela, featuring Aamir, Urmila Matondkar, and Jackie Shroff, marked its 28th anniversary.

Aamir Khan’s performance of Munna in Rangeela is one of his most nostalgic acts. With his penchant for authenticity, Aamir did not stop at anything to get into character. He lived among the slums of Mumbai, socializing with real-life taporis to learn their language, body language, and attitude. His intention was not only to play the role but to live it—making Munna’s lines feel spontaneous and unplanned. The outcome was a performance that even today continues to touch hearts of viewers years after its release.

In the meantime, Aamir has also given a thrilling update on his much-awaited dream project, the Mahabharat. On Game Changers with Komal Nahta, he shared that work on the epic finally commenced at a groundwork level. He called the film a “yagna” and revealed that the idea has been lingering in his mind for more than 25–30 years. The scripting process will start in the next two months. For Aamir, the project is not a mere film—it’s a spiritual and personal experience which he believes is the most significant work of his life.

Professionally, Aamir Khan was seen most recently in Sitaare Zameen Par, a thematically follow-up to his 2007 blockbuster Taare Zameen Par, extending the legacy of effective and emotive storytelling.

Ram Gopal Varma has issued a strong note for dog lovers calling him a ‘dog hater’ after he backed the Supreme Court order on stray dogs a few days ago.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has issued a strong note on a section of social media that called him a ‘dog hater’ after he backed the decision of the Supreme Court to move all stray dogs in Delhi-NCR to shelters within eight weeks. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), RGV said that the stray dog menace has gone too far to be ignored and the solutions need to strike a ‘balance’ of compassion with practicality.

In his note, Ram Gopal Varma wrote, “To all those DUMB DOG LOVERS out there, who think I am a DOG HATER, I say this. Are you so blind, deaf and brain-dead that you can’t see children being bitten, mauled and killed on CCTV videos all over the place? Can’t you f…ing read the official reports on exploding rabies cases? It is common sense that in any emergency—fire, flood, riots, etc, you first deal with the immediate dangers, before holding debates on the root causes and long-term solutions…. The Supreme Court order is not some abstract policy note, but it is a blunt acknowledgement that the stray dog menace has gone extremely too far and human lives have to be saved on a priority level.”

‘Tell the dog lovers to take stray dogs’

He went on to add that there are several dog lovers who treat the dog bites as ‘love bites’. He said, “Coming to adoption, the dog lovers who cry hoarse about compassion are the same people buying foreign breeds to keep them in luxury houses which are well looked after by expensive vets. Just try to tell the dog lovers to take stray dogs in exchange for their pedigree breeds…While feeding, many dog lovers get bitten themselves but don’t report it, treating it as a “love bite.” But rabies spreads silently through these uncontrolled packs, endangering the entire neighbourhood.”

He continued that the stray dog problem in India is real and that to combat this issue, the solutions must balance compassion with practicality, which will depend on both the existing infrastructure and local attitudes.

On August 11, a bench of Justices Pardiwala and R Mahadevan took a stern view of the stray dog problem and ordered the Delhi-NCR to start removing stray dogs from all localities and house them in dedicated dog shelters to be set up by civic authorities. In the last few days, multiple protests have been held in the city over the past few days, demanding that the SC’s order be withdrawn.
