KPop Demon Hunters Perform ‘Golden’ on ‘Fallon’

The singing voices behind Huntr/x, the fictional K-pop girl group in the wildly popular, animated Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters, took The Tonight Show stage on Tuesday night for Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami’s first-ever live performance together.

The trio sang their hit single, “Golden,” and also joined host Jimmy Fallon on the couch for an interview. The vibrant performance kicked off with an animated intro before the trio took the stage to showcase the soaring track.

In the animated musical fantasy film, Ejae, Nuna and Rei Ami sing for the roles of Rumi, Mira and Zoey, respectively. (Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo voice the character’s spoken lines.) The movie follows the K-pop sensation as they moonlight as the mystical destroyers of an invisible demon realm and are soon faced with their biggest battle yet when rival band, Saja Boys, turn out to be demons intent on stealing Huntr/x fans.

During their interview with Fallon, the singers reflected on the phenomenon of the film and their recent appearance on Saturday Night Live, calling the opportunity “so insane.” They also shared how amazing it’s been to get emotional responses from both viewers and themselves.

“This movie has affected all us so much on an emotional level,” Nuna told Fallon. “I’m emotionally constipated, so I take a very, very long time to process my emotions. But I guess I was due for a cry the day of the premiere because literally five minutes into the film I’m, like, bawling my eyes out. And it’s weird because the thing that got me was seeing kimbap, which is a Korean food, it’s like a Korean rice roll, animated on screen.”

Following its premiere, KPop Demon Hunters’ skyrocketed to take the title of the Netflix’s most-watched animated film ever. Meanwhile, its soundtrack reached Number One on the Billboard 200, while “Golden” which has enjoyed eight weeks at Number One on the Billboard Hot 100. The album features a high energy score composed by Marcelo Zarvos and K-pop tracks produced by the likes of Teddy Park, Lindgren, Stephen Kirk, and Ian Eisendrath.

Trending Stories

EJAE and Mark Sonnenblick, two of the songwriters among the impressive roster of collaborators, spoke to Rolling Stone in August about why the soundtrack has resonated with fans. “I don’t know if Mark knows this, but when I wrote ‘Golden,’ I was going through a hard time. I actually cried singing the demo, because it resonated with me so much,” said EJAE, the singing voice of Rumi, who opened up about her own experience in the K-pop world. “Maybe that’s why ‘Golden’ is ‘going up up up.’ Because everyone’s going through a hard time. And they want to feel hope.”

Earlier this summer, Netflix confirmed plans to submit “Golden” for consideration in the Best Original Song category at the 98th Academy Awards.

‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Singers HUNTR/X Perform ‘Golden’

Bad Bunny conjured the KPop Demon Hunters trio HUNTR/X during the season 51 premiere of Saturday Night Live on Oct. 4.

In the six-minute sketch, fittingly titled “KPop Demon Hunters,” the Puerto Rican superstar — who hosted the episode alongside musical guest Doja Cat — plays Thomas, a brunch-goer passionately defending his love for the wildly popular animated Netflix movie.

“It’s actually not for kids. It’s for smart adults,” Bad Bunny’s Thomas says to skeptical friends. “In KPop Demon Hunters, songs are not just songs. They are weapons,” he continues. “What else is gonna save you from demons, you idiot.”

The sketch takes a chaotic turn when SNL cast member Bowen Yang appears as one of the film’s demons and possesses Sarah Sherman by belting out the hit song “Soda Pop.” Just in time, HUNTR/X — voiced in the movie by EJAE, Rei Ami, and Audrey Nuna — arrive to save the day, performing their smash single “Golden” and vanquishing the demon.

The sketch marked the first-ever live televised performance of “Golden,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks. HUNTR/X is slated to deliver their first full-length live performance of the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Oct. 7, where they’ll also sit down for an interview.

The news comes roughly three months after KPop Demon Hunters premiered on Netflix, rapidly becoming a pop culture phenomenon. In addition to “Golden,” three other tracks from the film’s soundtrack — “How It’s Done,” “What It Sounds Like,” and “Takedown” — have landed in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. The film’s soundtrack also made history as the first to top the U.S. albums chart since Encanto in 2022.

Whitney Leavitt Share What Man Bachelorette Taylor Frankie Paul Should Go For (Exclusive)

Distance makes the heart grow fonder.

That phrase has proven true for the Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos and her fiancé Chock Chapple, whose conflicting responsibilities have kept them separated in recent months.

“Right now, I cannot go into any details—hint, hint—but she’s doing a special project,” Chock explained to E! News in an exclusive interview, “and we haven’t seen each other for almost a month. Something’s probably going to change pretty soon, so we’ll see each other, but we miss each other.”

Thankfully, the pair have a game plan. “Joan and I, from the fantasy suites, made a commitment that we would talk every day,” he continued. “So, we talk at least twice a day, and it’s great.”

And while Chock is happy to report their first year together since The Golden Bachelorette aired has “really been fantastic,” he admits of his and Joan’s whirlwind lifestyle, “We haven’t had this real life that people normally have because you’re living in the same town, you see each other all the time.”

Below, learn how Mel makes his money and how much he has in assets.

How Does Mel Owens Earn a Living?

Before entering the reality TV world, Mel was a professional football player for the NFL. From 1981 through 1989, he played as a linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams. At the time, the average NFL player’s annual salary was reportedly around $160,000.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Mel’s salary increased throughout the 1990s with an annual income of around $300,000. By that time, he’d already left the NFL and took up different business ventures. He became a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch & Co and was admitted to the State Bar of California in the early 2000s. Mel became a sports attorney in Laguna Hills, California, specializing in workers’ compensation and sports injuries, to name a few areas of his expertise.

What Is Mel Owens’ Net Worth?

Mel has a net worth of $2 million as of 2025, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

What Happened With Mel Owens’ Ex-Wife Before The Golden Bachelor?

Mel was married to his ex-wife, Fabiana Pimentel, a Brazilian businesswoman whom he called his “first love.” The couple share two sons, and they lived in California while they were together.

In February 2020, Fabiana filed for divorce and cited irreconcilable differences, according to court documents viewed by Hollywood Life. It took nearly five years for them to finalize their divorce with their split being final in December 2024. The court ordered Mel to pay about $1 million for unpaid child and spousal support, property division and attorney fees, according to multiple outlets.

Ahead of the season 2 Golden Bachelor premiere, Fabiana was asked by Daily Mail how she felt about her ex-husband’s participation on the show.

“Good luck. I mean, it’s going to be bad,” Fabiana told the outlet, adding, “But anyway, I don’t want to be involved in this.”

During an interview with Us Weekly, Mel said Fabiana filed for divorce from him after falling in love with another person.

Well, it’s never good, right? But, you know, I’m never going to get in the way of someone’s happiness,” Mel told the outlet. “If you want to find somebody else in a different phase in your life — it hurts — but I can’t get in the way of your happiness. And what’s your happiness may not be my happiness. That’d be a real conflict — you can’t stop somebody, say, ‘I’m over here now.’ You can beg and plead, but I’m fine. Life is short, and if you’re in love with somebody else, that’s fine.”

As the 66-year-old embarks on his televised search for love, fans are just as curious about his family life and the children who have always been at the center of his world.

Below, get to know Mel’s kids.

Mel Owens’ Career

Before becoming The Golden Bachelor Season 2 lead, Mel built a successful career both on and off the football field. He played as a linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL from 1981 to 1989, where he became known for his consistency and leadership.

After retiring from professional sports, Mel transitioned into a career in law, working as an attorney specializing in workers’ compensation and disability law.

Who Are Mel Owens’ Children?

Mel is a proud father of two sons, Lucas and Andre, from his first marriage. While they live more private lives, Mel has spoken about how important fatherhood is to him and how being a dad has shaped his perspective on life.

According to his ABC bio, his children are a central part of his world, and he hopes to find a partner who embraces his family values as much as he does.

Who Is Mel Owens’ Ex-Wife?

Mel was married to Fabiana Pimentel for 25 years before she filed for divorce in 2020. Their split was finalized in December 2024, after a lengthy process. The divorce settlement included joint custody of their two sons, and though Fabiana has largely stayed out of the spotlight, she has publicly distanced herself from Mel’s role on The Golden Bachelor.

Why Did ABC Choose Mel Owens as The Golden Bachelor?

ABC highlighted Mel’s story as one that resonates with viewers — a man who had a long, committed marriage, raised a family, and is now ready to open his heart again in his golden years. In his official bio, the network described him as a “devoted dad” who wants to rediscover love through simple joys like companionship, making plans for the future, and growing stronger as a couple.

Jarmusch’s Boring Film Wins Venice 2025’s Golden Lion Top Prize

by Alex Billington
September 6, 2025
Source: Biennale

At the end of it all, we finally have our winners. The 82nd Venice Film Festival wrapped up this weekend on the sunny Lido island in Venice, and awards were handed out at a fancy awards show in the Sala Grande. The top prize at Venice is a Golden Lion (in honor of the iconic lion that is the symbol of the city) and it’s one of the top prizes in cinema along with the Palme d’Or from Cannes (which was given to Jafar Panahi in May). This year’s winner is a film titled Father Mother Sister Brother, the latest feature from American filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, back after a six year hiatus without making much. Alas it will go down in cinema history as one of the worst film festival prizes ever. Barely anyone liked this film, except for a handful of critics. No one think it deserves any awards. And somehow it won over some of the most incredible, awards-worthy films of the year: No Other Choice, Silent Friend, A House of Dynamite, The Testament of Ann Lee. What was the jury up to? Why this one? The ultimate nothing, boring, unexciting film has won an award it doesn’t deserve. Ugh. Last year in Venice, Pedro Almodovar’s The Room Next Door won over The Brutalist – another strange pick. The prize for Best Director was given out to Benny Safdie (another unexpected choice) along with a number of other very weird picks from the jury. View the full list of #Venezia82 winners below.

Main Venice Awards

The jury chaired by filmmaker Alexander Payne and also including Stéphane Brizé, Maura Delpero, Cristian Mungiu, Mohammad Rasoulof, Fernanda Torres, and Zhao Tao, after watching all 21 films, has awarded:

Golden Lion for Best Film:
Father Mother Sister Brother by Jim Jarmusch

Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize:
The Voice of Hind Rajab by Kaouther Ben Hania

Silver Lion Award for Best Director:
Benny Safdie for the film The Smashing Machine

Coppa Volpi for Best Actress:
Xin Zhilei in the film Sun Rises on Us All (Ri Gua Zhong Tian) by Shangjun Cai

Coppa Volpi for Best Actor:
Toni Servillo in the film Grace (La Grazia) by Paolo Sorrentino

Award for Best Screenplay:
Valérie Donzelli for At Work (À pied d’oeuvre) also by Valérie Donzelli

Special Jury Prize:
Below the Clouds (Sotto le Nuvole) by Gianfranco Rosi

Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor or Actress:
Luna Wedler in the film Silent Friend by Ildikó Enyedi

“Luigi De Laurentiis” Venice Award for a Debut Film:
Short Summer by Nastia Korkia

Armani Beauty Audience Award:
Calle Málaga by Maryam Touzani

Luna Wedler - Venice 2025 Winner

Orizzonti Section Awards

The Orizzonti Jury, chaired by filmmaker Julia Ducournau, also including Yuri Ancarani, Fernando Enrique Juan Lima, Shannon Murphy, and RaMell Ross, after watching 19 feature films in competition, awarded:

Orizzonti Award for Best Film:
On the Road (En el Camino) by David Pablos

Orizzonti Award for Best Director:
Anuparna Roy for the film Songs of Forgotten Trees

Special Orizzonti Jury Prize:
Lost Land (Harà Watan) by Akio Fujimoto

Orizzonti Award for Best Actress:
Benedetta Porcaroli in Kidnapping of Arabella (Il rapimento di Arabella) by Carolina Cavalli

Orizzonti Award for Best Actor:
Giacomo Covi in the film A Year of School (Un anno di scuola) by LauraSamani

Orizzonti Award for Best Screenplay:
Ana Cristina Barragán for The Ivy (Hiedra) also by Ana Cristina Barragán

That’s all for now. For the full list of awards (including a few more), head to labiennale.org. Congratulations to all of the winners this year. Though now it’s time to rant: this is terrible. Really, truly – an exceptionally frustrating, entirely nonsensical Golden Lion pick. WHY?! There is NO interesting or unique or innovative or clever filmmaking in Jarmusch’s film at all. It is infuriating to award this film the top prize at the Venice Film Festival over any number of other exceptional films that actually have some vibrant, vivid, masterful filmmaking within them: No Other Choice, Silent Friend, A House of Dynamite, The Testament of Ann Lee. I also did not want The Voice of Hind Rajab to win for political reasons. Important story & important film, but the filmmaking is not that interesting or exciting either. But at least that would’ve been better than this one. The rest of the awards also don’t make sense. Benny Safdie for Best Director? Huh!? Nothing for Park Chan-wook? One tiny award for Silent Friend which is a masterpiece? Jesse Plemons in Bugonia deserved to win for Best Actor. Amanda Seyfried in Ann Lee deserved to win for Best Actress. I’m so upset by this. But this is just my opinion and it’s time to move on. I’d rather get back to focusing on my favorites – the films that really do deserve our attention. As always, try to catch any of these films in the theater when they open. Hopefully they’ll be at another fest near you or releasing soon. For more of my Venice 2025 posts, click here.

'Golden Bachelor' Season 2 Cast Revealed

‘Golden Bachelor’ Season 2 Cast Revealed

by jummy84 September 4, 2025
written by jummy84

The Golden Bachelor is revving up for its return.

The senior-aged spinoff of The Bachelor that had everyone talking when it launched in 2023 is back with its second season on Sept. 24, and ABC has released the full cast for when Mel Owens takes his turn handing out those red roses.

One of the highlights of Golden Bachelor season one was seeing the empowering women who came on national television looking for a second or perhaps third chance at love breakout to stardom, and a teaser (below) shows that this new batch of hopefuls in their golden years are just as impressive.

The reality dating series will have 23 women vying for Owens’ affection. Owens is a 66-year-old dad of two sons and former NFL player turned lawyer who played college football for the University of Michigan Wolverines, followed by a nine-year NFL career as a linebacker with the Los Angeles Rams. He is the second Golden Bachelor star in the Warner Bros.-produced franchise, following Gerry Turner in season one and Joan Vassos leading the inaugural season of the Golden Bachelorette. Several Golden franchise castmembers also joined this summer’s spinoff series, Bachelor in Paradise.

Owens made a stir earlier this summer when he said his desired range for the women on his season was under 60; he later spoke out about the stumble, saying the first thing he did when he began production on the upcoming season was to apologize to his female cast.

“I said, ‘It was unfair, insensitive. I want to earn it back. Just give me the chance,’” he said, adding that many of the women accepted his apology. But “one of the dates was a roast,” he added. “It was brutal. They were killing me… They’re brilliant. It’s shocking how brilliant they are.”

Among the 23 women who were hand-picked by ABC’s casting department to prove that “love stories don’t end with age, they only get better” are a Napa Valley vineyard owner, fitness professional, retired biomedical engineer, a CEO, librarian, former model, and a retired firefighter and bomb tech.

Here they are — pictured above and detailed below:

Alexandra, 67, a luxury yacht sales representative from Miami, Fla.
Amy, 63, a full-time mom from Short Hills, N.J.
Andra, 77, a retired federal worker from Los Angeles, Calif.
Carla, 62, a former model from Los Angeles, Calif.
Carol, 63, family manager for baseball all-star Freddie Freeman from Villa Park, Calif.
Cheryl, 66, a retired IRS employee from Englewood, Colo.
Cindy, 60, a retired biomedical engineer from Austin, Texas.
Debbie, 65, a fitness professional from Denver, Colo.
Diane, 71, a librarian from Wasilla, Alaska
Gerri, 64, a home care agency CEO from Rockville, Md.
Lily, 72, a retired elementary school teacher from Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Lisa, 66, a state park employee from Marion, Ohio.
Maia, 58, a college sports consultant from Malibu, Calif.
Monica B., 62, a flight attendant from Huntsville, Ala.
Monica P., 60, a cosmetic dentist from Birmingham, Ala.
Mylene, 61, a casino VIP host from Las Vegas, Nev.
Nicolle, 64, a yoga instructor from Miami Beach, Fla.
Peg, 62, a retired firefighter and bomb tech from Las Vegas, Nev.
Robin, 63, a wealth advisor/vineyard owner from Napa Valley, Calif.
Roxanne, 62, a longevity nurse from Austin, Texas
Susie, 62, a realtor from Del Mar, Calif.
Terri, 71, a cosmetic dentist from Houston, Texas
Tracy, 62, an interior designer from Lafayette, La.

The Golden Bachelor returns Wednesday, Sept. 24 (8:00-10:00 p.m.) on ABC, streaming next day on Hulu.

The season will be hosted by returning star Jesse Palmer and is produced by Warner Horizon Unscripted Television, a Warner Bros. Television Group company. Jessica Castro and Andrew Frank are executive producers, with Jessica Castro as showrunner.
