Glen Powell is unrecognizable in the first full-length trailer for his new Hulu comedy Chad Powers. Powell formally debuted the trailer Saturday on ESPN’s College GameDay.
Produced by former star NFL quarterbacks (and current ESPN personalities) Eli and Peyton Manning, Chad Powers sees Powell playing Russ Holliday, a hotshot quarterback who destroyed his playing career after making an unforgivable, vanity-driven mistake in a college football championship game.
Eight years later, he seeks redemption, under heavy makeup and prosthetics and under the pseudonym, Chad Powers.
“South Georgia is having open tryouts? I am going to do a Mrs. Doubtfire, but with football,” Powell says at one point in the trailer (below).
Chad Powers debuts on Hulu Sep. 30 with two episodes. New episodes will stream on Tuesdays for the subsequent four weeks.
The show can trace its origin to a sketch that starred Eli Manning in 2022, in which he put on prosthetics and attended an open tryout at Penn State, with a camera crew capturing the disbelief from other players and attendees.
Eli Manning and Powell spoke to The Hollywood Reporter for this week’s cover story about making the show.
“What made Eli’s thing so magical is the viewer knew Eli Manning was under [the disguise]. So, let’s use the lie at the center of this thing, which creates inherent fun conflict over the course of the series,” Powell told THR. “We were like, ‘OK, we’re going to Tootsie this thing. Let’s Mrs. Doubtfire it, and let’s see how far we can take this lie.’ “
EManning serves as executive producer along with Omaha Productions’ Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown and ESPN’s Burke Magnus, Brian Lockhart, Kati Fernandez. Waldron and Adam Fasullo are executive producing for Anomaly Pictures. Luvh Rakhe will executive produce and Tony Yacenda will serve as director and executive producer. The series stars Powell, who is also co-creating, co-writing and executive producing under his production co-banner Barnstorm Productions.

“Two identities. One icon. Zero shame.” Meet Chad! 🏈 Hulu has debuted the full official trailer for their new sports comedy series called Chad Powers, ready for streaming starting in September one month from now. We posted the first teaser for this last year during the football season – now it’s finally about to release and they’re dropping more footage. When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he disguises himself (using prosthetics?!) and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers. The supremely talented Glen Powell stars as Powers – he also co-created, co-wrote, and is executive producing the series through his production co-banner Barnstorm Productions. This stars Powell as Russ Holliday / Chad Powers, Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia, Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny, and Steve Zahn as Jake Hudson. This actually looks like good fun. It’s a very ridiculous premise, but somehow Powell might just pull this off. Take a look below.

Sydney Sweeney Reunites With Glen Powell After Calling Off Jonathan Davino Wedding
The name is Powell, Glen Powell—so don’t call him James Bond.
Amid buzz for the next person to be cast as Agent 007 after Daniel Craig officially turned in his badge, the Anyone But You star shared why he doesn’t believe he’s the right fit for the job.
“I’m a Texan,” Glen told The Hollywood Reporter in an article published Aug. 20. “My family and I joke around, I can play Jimmy Bond, but I should not be playing James Bond. Get an authentic Brit for that job. That’s who belongs in that tuxedo.”
Indeed, Glen is the only American name that has earned its fair share of buzz surrounding the casting choice—which has yet to be announced. Other top fan-picked actors including Theo James, Henry Cavill and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who all hail from across the pond.
Theo, however, similarly echoed Glen when asked about taking on the iconic role.
