When Gavin Met Stacey details how a party brought about the finale

This month’s Radio Times Book Club, sponsored by Dr. Oetker Ristorante, pick tells the story of one of Britain’s best-loved comedies, in a series of conversations between its co-creators James Corden (Smithy) and Ruth Jones (Nessa).

In this excerpt, they discuss how last Christmas’s finale – watched by more than 20 million people — came to be…

James: I’d always thought we should do another one. By the end of series three we had ten million viewers. And it just felt like the show wasn’t going away. People would keep saying, “Go on, do another one”.

Ruth: It was Mexico that clinched it.

James: It was my 40th [in 2018] and my wife, Jules, organised a birthday weekend in Mexico. She flew in my oldest school friend, Sheddy, and she had friends from all over the world fly in. But it was all a massive surprise.

Ruth: Julia messaged me and asked, “Would you consider coming to Mexico for it?” And it was strange, because you and I hadn’t really been massively in touch. In fact, I think the last time we’d seen each other was the previous Christmas, when you came over from LA and were staying in a hotel in London, and I remember going there to see you, and being very polite in front of you. Because at that stage you’d so gone into the stratosphere, fame-wise.

And I think that disparity is difficult for people sometimes. So Mexico was really key, because then we spent time talking about what a new Gavin & Stacey episode would be. [Before that] I just didn’t want to go back there at all. And I think you did. Then in Mexico we all had to hide away. We knew that you were going to be inside this villa thing, and we all had to gather outside and put sombreros on. One by one, people had to go in.

James: Yes, suddenly this mariachi band strikes up, and all these people come in. John Bishop’s there, and all these people I know are marching in wearing sombreros. Then someone opens my laptop, and Tom Cruise is on it, telling me that my mate Sheddy is here, and then he walks in, and then Jules goes, “There’s one more person here…” And you walked in, and I was unbelievably happy to see you.

When Gavin Met Stacey.

Ruth: It was so emotional. And it’s really weird, because I don’t think I always appreciate how much you love me. And partly I was thinking, “Surely he’ll be more excited about seeing John Bishop, or someone?” But I walked in and you literally burst into tears. I was kind of shocked that it meant so much to you.

James: It was amazing. We had the best weekend. And because we’d always laughed about the fact that you had sung Wild Thing at your own wedding, we went to this restaurant and there was a band, and you got up and sang Wild Thing.

Ruth: It was just something I decided to do on the spot. I knew the only way I would get away with it was to absolutely, completely give it my all. And not think about the fact that there were professional singers there. I mean, Harry Styles was there, for God’s sake – he looked a bit in shock. I don’t know if it was in a good way or bad.

James: Yeah, it was an amazing time. And at some point during that birthday weekend, I said to you, “Do you want to think about doing more Gavin & Stacey? You know, I think it might be time.”

Ruth: Yeah, we had that conversation sitting by the pool during the day. It wasn’t like a drunken sudden decision or anything. It had been mentioned over the years so many times and while I said I wasn’t keen to do it, there were times when I did think about it, because I remember I used to make notes and write down my thoughts about what could happen if we did do a new episode.

And we used to text each other ideas and things like that as well. So it just felt, because now we’d finally come together after this period of not really being in touch, maybe that made it feel more concrete. I came away from the Mexico trip thinking, “Right let’s do this…”

California Approves Redistricting Measure in Win for Gavin Newsom

California Approves Redistricting Measure in Win for Gavin Newsom

by jummy84 November 5, 2025
written by jummy84

California voters have approved a ballot measure to redraw the state’s congressional map, potentially giving Democrats five more seats in the 2026 midterms.

The Associated Press called the race at 8 p.m., just as polls closed.

The vote comes in response to a similar move from Texas, where Republican leaders redrew their maps this summer to eliminate up to five Democratic seats.

Gov. Gavin Newsom billed the measure as a way to “fight fire with fire” by stopping Republicans from rigging the 2026 midterms. The vote marks a significant win for Newsom, who sold the measure to voters as a way to stop President Trump’s agenda.

“We are done being treated like this,” Newsom said at a rally over the weekend. “What this is all about is Democrats getting back on our toes — not on our heels. Getting our mojo back.”

Republicans currently hold a six-vote majority in Congress. In California’s 52 seats, Democrats hold a 43-9 advantage — but that could grow to 48-4 under the new maps, possibly helping Democrats win control of Congress.

Success was not a foreordained when Newsom proposed the new maps this summer, which, unlike in Texas, required voter approval to change the California constitution.

California voters had previously created an independent redistricting commission to draw lines in a non-partisan fashion — a key element of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s legacy in office. In polls before the campaign, voters were generally supportive of the commission.

But an ad campaign, along with big endorsements from Barack Obama and Kamala Harris, sent a message to Democratic voters that the proposition would offer a golden opportunity to fight back against Trump.

The successful campaign burnishes Newsom’s credentials as a fighter as he is expected to launch a campaign for president in 2028.

The redistricting battle may not be over yet. Other states have considered countering California’s move, including Indiana, Ohio and Florida.

Gavin Newsom’s Redistricting Gamble Makes Him POTUS Front-Runner

by jummy84 November 5, 2025
written by jummy84

In a literal and figurative redrawing of the political map, Gavin Newsom‘s Proposition 50 has handily been passed by California voters.

A direct challenge to Donald Trump and his GOP MAGA forces’ gerrymandering attempt to retain control of the House of Representatives in the 2026 midterms, the Golden State initiative allows redistricting to flip up to five Republican seats from California’s Congressional delegation to the Democrats. Replacing the state’s independent commission that usually makes such decisions, the redistricting would permit the Democratic dominated legislature in Sacramento to redraw the congressional district map for 2026 to 2030.

With victory called by CNN and Fox News just seconds after polls closed out West, Newsom’s win comes on a night that saw big Democratic wins in Virginia, New Jersey and for newly-minted Mayor Zohran Mamdani in New York City. Bringing big donors and national spotlight on Newsom, Prop 50 also puts the term-limited Democrat in the pole position for 2028.

While that election is not expected to be top of his agenda, the Governor is scheduled to speak tonight.

In fact, Newsom has already spoken about 2028 — through the prism of 2026.

Long trolling and suing Trump over masked ICE abductions, troops in LA, and more, the clearly ambitious Newsom said the not-so quiet thing out loud in late October and admitted he would “be lying” if he wasn’t thinking about a White House bid in his future. Putting some of his future post the 2026 midterms in the hands of “fate,” the increasingly combative governor said “I’m looking forward to who presents themselves in 2028 and who meets that moment, and that’s the question for the American people.”

Which is I’m running, in any other interpretation.

It certainly didn’t hurt Newsom that the Arnold  Schwarzenegger-led opposition to Prop 50 seemed to fall apart soon after it started. Sure there were some TV ads and billboards on inland highways, but the impact proved muted.

In terms of cash, the Barack Obama supported Prop 50 saw the state race screaming money.

A big proponent of  Schwarzenegger’s 2010 California Citizens Redistricting Commission, the reclusive Charles Munger Jr.’s poured $30 million into TV ads and more to stop Prop 50. On the other side, billionaire Tom Steyer, who ran briefly for the Democratic POTUS nomination in 2020, doled out nearly $13 million for the measure. Netflix founder Reed Hastings donated $2 million to pro-Prop 50 forces. After former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s promise to raise $100 million to kneecap Prop 50 fizzled out, the California Republican Party put just over $10 million into an anti-Prop 50 campaign.

In maybe the surest measure of the confidence Newsom and team had in Prop 50 passing, last week organizers told donors to stop sending in money as they’d already met their nearly $130 million fundraising goal.

In another swipe at Trump’s authoritarianism moves, Newsom on September 20 signed into law on legislation that bans ICE and other from covering their faces and identities. Set to take effect on January 1, 2026,  the California’s Senate Bills 627, a.k.a. the “No Secret Police Act” is the first in the nation put into law the unmasking and identifying of ICE agents and others. Still hunting down migrants as well as attacking and arresting US citizens in California and other Blue States, the MAGA administration scoffed at the new laws as unenforcible, but the symbolism is apparent.

Earlier Tuesday, after a Trump temper tantrum over California mail-in voting and some Newsom mocking, the Governor’s cocky press team offered up some hard realities of politics in America in 2025.

It is no coincidence that Trump and Miller sent their masked men into Los Angeles ON ELECTION DAY!

Trump & Miller are creating CHAOS in our communities so people who have the right to vote stay home.

It’s a disgusting display of authoritarianism. https://t.co/0BY2dr8JhX

Gavin Newsom has long been one of the most influential figures in American politics. Currently serving as the Governor of California, he first rose to prominence as the Mayor of San Francisco, where his progressive policies— including his early support for same-sex marriage—made national headlines.

Since taking office as governor in 2019, Newsom has remained at the center of major state and national conversations, from climate initiatives and housing reform to his public clashes with federal leaders. With growing speculation about a potential 2028 presidential run, his profile on the political stage continues to rise.

Learn more about Gavin Newsom’s career, leadership, and personal life below.

He’s Been California’s Governor Since 2019

After serving eight years as California’s lieutenant governor, Newsom ran against Republican John H. Cox in the 2018 election and won by a wide margin. He was sworn in as the state’s 40th governor in January 2019, succeeding Jerry Brown.

He Suspended the Death Penalty in California

In 2019, shortly after taking office, Newsom signed an executive order halting executions in California—the state with the largest death-row population in the country. He also ordered the closure of the execution chamber at San Quentin State Prison, calling the death penalty “ineffective, irreversible, and immoral.” While the moratorium doesn’t abolish capital punishment outright, it effectively paused all executions during his tenure and reaffirmed his stance on criminal-justice reform.

“The American justice system is completely broken, and we all are perpetuating it,” Newsom said in an interview with ABC KGO at the time. “The systemic racism, the implicit bias, the overt bias, the whims of prosecutors based on geography, based on the will of people in the moment, fear and anxiety…. until we address that I don’t think we can do what Saudi Arabia is doing and what North Korea is doing.”

He Previously Served as Mayor of San Francisco

Newsom was elected mayor in 2003, and held the office until 2011. During his tenure, Newsom gained national attention for his support of same-sex marriage, especially during the California Prop 8 battle. He directed the San Francisco county clerk to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, which in 2004 was a violation of state law. Though those marriages were later annulled because of that, he gained the support of the gay community and pushed forward the framework for state-wide same-sex marriage.

He was a vocal opponent of Proposition 8 during the 2008 election, a ballot initiative that would reverse the California Supreme Court ruling that said there was a constitutional right to same-sex marriage. While Prop 8 unfortunately passed, it was, of course, overruled in 2015 when the Supreme Court of the United States made same-sex marriage legal on the federal level.

We can no longer allow the death penalty to be a part of what defines us. That begins today in California. https://t.co/7baNcPP3OR

— Gavin Newsom (@GavinNewsom) March 13, 2019

He’s Married and Has Four Kids

Newsom has been married to Jennifer Siebel Newsom, a documentary filmmaker and advocate, since July 2008. They have four children together: Montana, Hunter, Brooklynn, and Dutch.

Before Jennifer, Newsom was married to Kimberly Guilfoyle from 2001 to 2005, during his early years in San Francisco politics. At the time, she was a prosecutor and television legal analyst. Following their divorce, Guilfoyle became a Fox News host and later entered a high-profile relationship with Donald Trump Jr., though the pair have since split.

He’s a Potential 2028 Presidential Contender

The California governor has ramped up his national profile—taking on high-visibility battles with Donald Trump, visiting key states like South Carolina, and positioning himself as a frontrunner among Democrats for 2028.

In a recent interview on CBS Sunday Morning, Newsom admitted he would give a run for the White House “serious thought” after the 2026 midterm elections, saying, “Yeah, I’d be lying otherwise.”

The Summer I Turned Pretty: Gavin Casalegno Finale Interview

by jummy84 September 19, 2025
written by jummy84

[This story contains major spoilers from Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty series finale.]

During the final episode of Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, viewers saw Conrad Fisher visit Isabel “Belly” Conklin in Paris ahead of her birthday, with the pair finally confessing their love and getting back together. However despite the great secrecy surrounding the series and how it would truly end, eagle-eyed fans began posting videos of the cast filming in Paris online with one in particular making everyone second guess the show’s ending.

Despite the show leaving viewers’ to guess whether Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah would prevail, even though (spoiler!) in the books Belly ends up with Conrad, Gavin Casalegno was spotted filming with Lola Tung in Paris, making viewers wonder if Belly would perhaps end up with his character Jeremiah instead. But the filming ended up being a decoy to trick fans.

“They just told me to get on a plane and show up and they handed me sides that were blank and then I just went out there and ran,” Casalegno tells The Hollywood Reporter of filming in Paris. “It was super fun. It was a free trip to Paris, can’t complain. I had some great coffee. I got to meet a lot of the French crews as well and the French are so amazing.”

He then quipped, “I don’t know. I just work here!”

Despite a Conrad endgame in the finale, throughout the show’s three seasons, viewers had followed the ups and downs of Belly’s relationship with Jeremiah from watching their surprising love confessions to a four-year-long relationship, engagement, almost wedding and breakup. When asked about telling a separate love story within a focus on an inevitable Conrad and Belly reunion, the actor said he didn’t feel “overwhelmed” by it and focused on trying to portray someone who would be himself. “I just wanted people to love him for him. Even after the series ended there are still people that are team Jeremiah,” he said.

Even if fans of the original book trilogy were committed to Team Conrad, Casalengo says he still thinks Jeremiah and Belly could’ve worked. “I think it still could have worked without Christmas. Christmas was when she [Belly] started loving him [Conrad] again… But I think without that and with a lot of healthy boundaries, I feel like we probably would have seen a wedding go through.”

Following the premiere of the finale, Casalegno spoke to THR about the upcoming TSITP film, Jeremiah’s growth (and criticism) and Jeremiah’s blossoming bond with Denise in the finale.

***

For starters, we have learned that this season was not the actual ending and there will be a movie. What can you tease?

Honestly, we have no clue! We’ve heard whispers about it but we’re really just in the dark as much as you are. I guess keep reading fan theories.

Ahead of the final season there were viral clips online of you filming in Paris with Lola Tung. What’s the backstory there? Was that just to throw everyone off with the ending?

I think so! Honestly, I don’t know. They just told me to get on a plane and show up and they handed me sides that were blank and then I just went out there and ran. It was super fun. It was a free trip to Paris can’t complain. I had some great coffee. I got to meet a lot of the French crews as well and the French are so amazing. But I don’t know. I just work here!

The Summer I Turned Pretty season three.

Prime Video

It’s safe to say that Jeremiah has gotten probably the most criticism this season and a common argument is that he only pursued Belly as a way to win her over Conrad due to a possible jealousy or competitiveness with Conrad. Can you address the criticism of Jeremiah’s intentions with pursuing things with Belly?

This is Jenny’s world, Jenny’s creation. I just kind of wanted to collaborate with her on her vision, but I was like, “Jenny they’re closer in age, and I think it would be really cool to play this Jeremiah as someone who’s loved her for a long time.” It was best friends, and there’s always this chemistry between them. You obviously you don’t date when you’re six years old and so now that they’re teenagers, they’re like, “Oh, wow, this could be something.” And so I was under the impression that Jeremiah actually had a thing with her growing up, and that’s what I did. And it was funny, all the criticism and stuff.

I had a conversation with someone yesterday at a jazz bar at like 2 a.m. and they were like, “So are you actually a Team Jeremiah?” And I was like, “Yeah, of course.” And they were like, even after all this other stuff?” And I was like, “I’m sorry. Are you perfect? Have you ever made a mistake?” And she’s like, “Yeah, I’ve made mistakes.” And I was like, “Are you still team you?” And she’s like, “Yes.” There you go! We all make mistakes. Some big, some small, but at the end of the day, we’re all growing and learning and I think that’s the most important thing that you learn from your mistakes. And Jeremiah really did. I think he’s grown a lot in the series.

Regardless of what team people were on, the reality was that Jeremiah and Belly were in a four-year long relationship and we spend a lot of season two and season three following their relationship. What was it like trying to build this love story with Jeremiah and Belly while navigating the Conrad endgame that existed in the books? Did you feel like it was overshadowed or difficult to try to convince people that they too had a genuine love story? Did Jeremiah get a fair chance?

I have a lot of thoughts for this one. The bottom line is, I want to see people love Jeremiah for who he is and love him as a person and be able to see themselves with someone who would sacrifice and do anything for their loved one. I think the nice guy is always overshadowed. People will say it’s predictable and they want that danger, but I think ultimately you end up marrying your best friend. You don’t end up marrying someone who you never know their feelings or anything like that. As far as feeling overwhelmed with the teams, not really. I just wanted people to love him for him. Even after the series ended, there are still people that are team Jeremiah.

Tung and Casalegno in The Summer I Turned Pretty season three.

Prime Video

We also see Jeremiah having this fear of losing Belly again and seemingly knowing that Conrad was always going to be in the picture. Do you feel that even if the Christmas reunion hadn’t happened between Belly and Conrad and Belly and Jeremiah hadn’t gotten engaged, do you think Jeremiah’s fears was always going to break their relationship or do you feel like they could’ve been the endgame and still worked?

I think it still could have worked without Christmas. Christmas was when she started loving him again. That was a moment where boundaries weren’t set for either of them and they were able to emotionally connect in a way they hadn’t for four years because Belly was always with Jeremiah. I think that separation between them, where she essentially had a getaway with Conrad, was pivotal to her feelings and things being stirred up again, where she’s like, “I love him” and reawakened those feelings. But without that and with a lot of healthy boundaries, I feel like we probably would have seen a wedding go through.

Despite the heartbreak, we do see Jeremiah finding his way and him and Denise developing something. Do you think they’re going to pursue things and how will that work, especially given she’s headed to California with Stephen and Taylor?

Yeah, I don’t know. I genuinely just want him to be happy. When is too soon after leaving the altar basically? I don’t know when is too soon to be getting with someone. Probably not within a year, I would imagine, but I just want him to be happy. Denise has gotten to see different sides of Jeremiah and who he is and I hope for the best for them.

Country singers Zach Bryan, Gavin Adcock face off in music fest altercation – National

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Country singers Zach Bryan and Gavin Adcock got into a heated confrontation during the Born & Raised Festival in Oklahoma over the weekend.

Several videos posted online show Bryan, 29, yelling at Adcock, 26, through a fence while at the festival on Sept.13 in Pryor, Okla.

“Hey, do you want to fight like a man?” Bryan yells in the video. “Come open the gate. Want me to throw a beer too?”

Once Adcock gets closer to the fence, Bryan appears to push it in his direction, which resulted in a security guard stepping forward to get involved.

“When you get death threats from Sack Cryin before you headline in his hometown,” Adcock wrote in text over clip.

“Eat a snickers bro,” Adcock wrote in the post’s caption.

In another video posted online, Bryan can be seen climbing the fence — topped with barbed wire — to get to Adcock, but he’s held back by security once he gets over the fence. A bodyguard can also been seen escorting Adcock away from Bryan.

Adcock shared a video on Instagram, talking about the incident with the caption, “Rotten fruit falls on its own.”

“Well, like I already said, I don’t think Zach Bryan’s a very good person. He wasn’t locked out of the festival. He had been there all day with his multiple security guards. He saw me standing between my buses when he got here,” Adcock began.

Story continues below advertisement

“He had plenty of opportunity between the whole day to do whatever he wanted to do but decided he was going to wait like an hour before my set while I was standing out there.”

Adcock said that “no artist who cares about their fans is going to fight right before their set, missing going on (stage) and disappointing fans that spent way too much money to be there.”

“I wasn’t even mad I didn’t even have a single reason to fight him. After he had already left before my set I was standing outside. He pulls up in a pick-up truck outside the gate and starts giving out threats,” Adcock continued. “So I just decided to stir him up to the point where he jumped over the fence.”

“I don’t think anybody’s scared of Zach Bryan. I’m just an adult and fighting him would only mean going to jail, missing my set and falling into a Zach Bryan lawsuit. And we all know he likes to manipulate people with money,” Adcock said.

He told his fans that Bryan knew where he was all day and “knew my set time, knew where I’d be standing.”

“He created this whole ‘I’m a badass,’ jump over the fence narrative just to try to make himself look bigger or tougher even though he could have just walked on in the gate. He’d been in there all day. At the end of the day I know my decision I made was right. I didn’t take the Zach Bryan bait,” Adcock concluded.

Adcock and Bryan have been in an ongoing feud since July.

Adcock had previously criticized Bryan as a young fan claimed he waited hours after a show in New Jersey in the hopes of getting an autograph from Bryan. The fan took to TikTok and wrote, “We waited 3 hours outside to meet Zach Bryan… he completely blew everyone off and drove away like a jerk.”

In a since-deleted response to the TikTok, Bryan wrote, “You’re not entitled after someone plays two and a half hours to a picture or a hello.” Bryan also added the acronym “GOMD,” meaning “Get off my d—.”

Adcock then fired back on X and wrote, “If you can’t handle the criticism of a 14 year old why do people idolize you? The kid was head over heels to meet you and spent/parents spent a ton of money to see you. He’s got feeling[sic] too and you’re a ‘grown man’ nearly 30. They’re the only reason you are around.”

Adcock addressed his post on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast in August, saying, “It wasn’t about not wanting to sign autographs after a show, it’s like letting a 14-year-old kid rant, without saying, ‘Get off my d—.’ You’re bigger than that.”

He also accused Bryan of wearing “a big mask in his day-to-day life.”

“Sometimes he can’t help but rip it off and show his true colours,” Adcock added. “I don’t know if Zach Bryan’s really that great of a person.”

Zach Bryan Appears to Confront Gavin Adcock at Born and Raised Fest

by jummy84 September 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Zach Bryan was a surprise guest at this weekend’s Born & Raised Festival in Pryor, Oklahoma, popping up on Saturday to sing with Gabriella Rose during her afternoon set. But Bryan also seems to have seized the opportunity to confront Gavin Adcock, a Georgia country singer who has criticized Bryan and was scheduled to perform that same day.

In a video posted online, Bryan appears to scale a barbed-wire fence backstage and charge at a figure that appears to be Adcock, dressed in a vest and hat, before a security guard holds Bryan back. Adcock is seen pointing at Bryan as he descends the fence and lunges in Adcock’s direction. Reps for Bryan and Adcock did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone’s requests for comment.

“If they open up this fucking gate, I’ll fucking kill you,” Bryan appears to say in another video posted to Instagram. “I got a show to play, you clown son of a bitch,” Adcock seems to goad him, suggesting the encounter happened prior to Adcock’s performance.

Bryan’s beef with Adcock began back in July, when Adcock called out the “Something in the Orange” singer-songwriter for the way Bryan responded to a teenage fan on social media who lamented waiting in vain for Bryan to sign an autograph following a performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. “You’re not entitled after someone plays two and a half hours to a picture or a hello,” Bryan wrote.

In an appearance on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast, Adcock accused Bryan of pretending to be something he’s not. “I think that Zach Bryan puts on a big mask in his day-to-day life and sometimes he can’t help but rip it off and show his true colors,” Adcock said. “I don’t know if Zach Bryan’s really that great of a person.”

Adcock hasn’t been shy about courting controversy. For the past few weeks, he’s been embroiled in a back-and-forth feud with cowboy singer Charley Crockett. During a concert appearance this month with Morgan Wallen, Adcock joined Wallen onstage and held up a T-shirt that appeared to feature Crockett’s photo. In a clip circulating online, Wallen flips off the shirt with a pair of middle fingers.

In June, Adcock also made headlines for declaring that Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album didn’t meet his definition of country music. “That shit ain’t country music,” he said onstage, going on to elaborate during his Nashville Now interview.

Bryan has also been in his share of drama, sending volleys back and forth with his ex, Brianna LaPaglia, and also squaring off with fellow Oklahoma singer-songwriter John Moreland. Bryan removed the song he and Moreland recorded together, “Memphis; the Blues,” from all streaming services after Moreland raised an eyebrow at Bryan’s reported $350 million publishing deal.

Sharing a screenshot of Moreland’s original post, Bryan responded: “Yooo just saw this from an artist I’ve always respected and supported. Not trying to be dramatic, but refuse to have anyone with a problem with me on my records.”

‘Gavin & Stacey’ duo Corden and Jones to write new sitcom together

Gavin & Stacey creators James Corden and Ruth Jones are reportedly set to write a new sitcom together for Apple TV+.

The pair famously created and co-starred in the BBC sitcom, which came to an end last Christmas with a one-off special.

It is now being reported by The Sun that Corden and Jones will create and star in a new 10-part UK-set comedy-drama which will feature an all-British cast.

Apart from the series being described as “uplifting” and “full of heart”, further details remain under wraps for now – though the show will apparently start filming next year for a 2027 release date.

The site reports that Apple TV+ won a streamer bidding war, with the deal reportedly worth around £8million.

The news comes ahead of Corden and Jones reuniting later this year for a talk in London reflecting on the creation and success of Gavin & Stacey.

Taking place at the Palladium in October, When Gavin Met Stacey: An Evening With Ruth Jones And James Corden comes as the pair release a new book on the show called When Gavin Met Stacey and Everything In Between.

“Full of revelations and never-before-heard stories, this is a one-of-a-kind event about a show that’s already gone down in history,” the event description says.

“Join the duo as they recount the rejection, obstacles and challenges they faced on the way to giving birth to their beloved comedy creation, Ruth and James also explore the flourishing of their own real-life friendship.”

Last year’s Gavin & Stacey finale broke the record for the UK’s most-watched scripted show across all broadcasters since records began in 2002.

Jones has also confirmed that the episode was very much the end of the series, telling the Big Issue ahead of the episode airing last year: “I guarantee we will definitely not be coming back.”

Gavin Rossdale on turning 60 and his ‘good genes’

Gavin Rossdale says his late mum Barbara gave him “really good genes” as he approaches his 60th birthday.

Gavin Rossdale says getting older makes him appreciate life more

The Bush frontman – whose mother passed away in January – will reach the milestone age on October 30, and although he hates thinking about getting older and mortality, it makes him “appreciate life more”.

Asked how he feels to be turning 60 and not looking his age, Gavin told Contact Music: “Well, my mum gave me really good genes because she looked really young for her age. And the funny part is that when I was a kid, right, like, I couldn’t get into pubs. It’s so embarrassing. Up until the age of, like, 28. I was not allowed into pubs. I mean, of course, I got into them. They’d always like, stop me, like, really embarrassing when you’re trying to be cool and young, and you would go with your mates, and they’re like carding you. So it took me a long time, but now I’m getting my payback.”

The Land of Milk and Honey singer – who has grownup daughter Daisy Lowe, 36, with ex-partner Pearl Lowe, and sons Kingston, 19, Zuma, 17, and 11-year-old Apollo with ex-spouse Gwen Stefani – is “terrified” of his children seeing him frail and old but being the patriarch of the family is something he can be proud of.

He said of ageing: “It’s unavoidable. I mean, it’s exciting in some ways. In some ways, it’s f****** terrible, but it’s just my ego that is terrible, because I don’t want to die and I’m just like, f***, just in 20 years, like my kids are going to be worried when I go to the f****** toilet at a restaurant, you know, go down the stairs and they go talk about me behind my back. He’s doing really well, isn’t he? F****** hell, he’s all right, you know. So it just makes me appreciate life more. That’s the only thing I can say about it.”

On the positives of getting older, he added: “I do like the clarity. I don’t like the progression towards any frailty, you know, but it just is what it is. And the Buddhists say ageing is one of great forms of suffering, so I sort of refuse to suffer about it. I mean, it’s sad to suffer about it. It just is what it is. The most important thing to me, which I really like and I never actually thought about, is to be a patriarch now, and to, like, look at the kind of the family tree and what’s going on, and just be there for my family. And that’s a life well lived, right? If I’ve done that, it feels the right structure around me, you know?”
