“Let the 50th Hunger Games begin!” Lionsgate has revealed the first look teaser trailer for their next new epic The Hunger Games sequel – this one is titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. It’s a prequel to the original The Hunger Games stories, but also a sequel to the other recent The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes movie that opened in 2023. This teaser has arrived exactly one year from release – this opens in theaters on November 20th, 2026. Sunrise on the Reaping revisits the world of Panem and follows young Haymitch Abernathy 24 years before the events of THG, starting on the morning of the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. Something big will happen here? This one has an exceptional cast: Joseph Zada as Haymitch, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Ralph Fiennes as President Coriolanus Snow, Glenn Close as Drusilla Sickle, Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, Elle Fanning as young Effie Trinket, Mckenna Grace as tribute Maysilee Donner, Maya Hawke as Wiress, Whitney Peak, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. This also features a different Hunger Games setup up in the mountains which reminds of Midsommar in many ways. Take a look below.

Here’s the teaser for Francis Lawrence’s The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, via YouTube:

Netflix Games President Alain Tascan Teases Offerings To Be Played on TV

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

The sun was a few hours from setting when doors opened at the Netflix on Vine studio space as the streamer hosted an official Netflix Game Night for press, partners and guests on Wednesday afternoon.

The digital showcase gave attendees an exclusive opportunity to play recently released Netflix Games made for smart TVs while getting a sneak peek at upcoming launches as the streamer continues its push into becoming a one-stop shop for all things entertainment.

“Our vision is simple,” Netflix Games president Alain Tascan said in kicking off the presentation in front of a standing room only crowd. “Can we make playing a game as simple as streaming a movie on a Friday using the same innovative mindset that led Netflix to transform itself from a company shipping DVDs to streaming, movies, shows and now games. I tell my team almost every day we have a golden ticket, the opportunity to reinvent the way people play games, but also engage and reengage with IP and worlds they are familiar with. So hopefully today you’ll see the potential of what can be games on Netflix and on the TV, where the majority of our audience is.”

The event, and Tascan’s comments, come a little more than a month after Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters announced to Lucas Shaw at Bloomberg Screentime that the streamer was making a move with its games division from offering a suite of mobile apps to games that can be played on TVs for the first time using smartphones as controllers. Group games dominated the first rollout with currently available titles like Boggle Party, LEGO Party, Party Crashers: Fool Your Friends, Pictionary: Game Night and Tetris Time Warp. Up next: Dead Man’s Party: A Knives Out Game that features detective Benoit Blanc (played in the franchise by Daniel Craig) and allows users to solve a mystery in which everyone playing is a suspect.

The games range from existing IP like the LEGO franchise to Netflix originals and beyond. Tascan, who joined the streamer last summer from Epic Games, explained why they’re doubling down in his division.

“At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world but entertainment isn’t just about shows and movies. Right now, more than three billion people around the world are playing games. It’s the biggest entertainment shift in the last 30 years. Games tell a story and we are home of the best storytellers on the planet. It’s why I’m so excited about what we’re creating At Netflix. Our strategy is to give people something familiar, whether it’s a game they know or a world they love, but we also want to take advantage of the rich and innovations at Netflix to push games in new and unexpected directions.”

It was Netflix Games vp Jeet Shroff who said that one of those directions won’t require any movement as they want subscribers to simply keep the Netflix app open on on their TVs all night. “Let’s say it’s Friday night, dinner’s done and you’re looking for something to do. Forget fumbling through that board game closet. Just open up Netflix,” said Shroff, who explained that scanning a QR code allows smartphones to become game controllers. “You’re going to have a blast with your family and friends. You can go straight from watching KPop Demon Hunters to playing a party game without ever leaving Netflix.”

That’s not to say that Netflix is abandoning its mobile games. Far from it. There are 80 mobile options and more on the way, including high profile launches. The “coming soon” lineup includes PAW Patrol Academy, the wrestling sim WWE 2K25: Netflix Edition starring superstars like Roman Reigns, Trish Stratus, Undertaker and Rhea Ripley, the daily game Netflix Puzzled featuring hot titles like Stranger Things, Squid Game, KPop Demon Hunters, Bridgerton and Emily in Paris, and Red Dead Redemption.

To tease another launch, Tascan and his Netflix Game Night team then allowed attendees to be among the first to play Best Guess Live hosted by TV and media personality Hunter March (Sugar Rush, Nightly Pop) and Howie Mandel in what was presented as a live stream from another location. Reminiscent of the wildly popular Trivia HQ, the mobile game show is sure to be a weekday phenomenon that allows users to compete in real time against real players for cash prizes. Best Guess Live offers up five clues, which last 20 seconds each, allowing users to drop their answers as quickly as they can to beat the competition. Speaking of, one reputable journalist in attendance beat the competition by guessing that March and Mandel were just down the hall, and they were. After the game had ended, the two raced over to surprise the crowd and join Tascan for some final comments.

“You can see why games on Netflix are going to be different. And let me be clear, we are not here to compete with consoles. We’re creating a completely new way to play games,” Tascan concluded. “One that’s as easy as streaming a show on a Friday night. On the TV and film side, we’ve gone from sending DVDs through snail mail to streaming films and movies to an audience of more than 700 million people around the world. It’s in Netflix’s DNA to innovate and push boundaries. In the history of gaming, some of the biggest successes have come from taking big swings and now we’re going to apply that same innovation to games. We’re going to keep experimenting and entertaining the world. This is just the beginning.”

“Since launching earlier this year, [World of Peppa Pig] been one of our top 10 most played games every single week,” said Kids Games general manager Lisa Burgess. “Kids don’t just want to watch their favorite characters, they want to play with them and leap excitedly into those worlds. And parents love finding these games in a place they already know and trust.”

Unrivaled, TNT Sports Add Fourth Night of Games for 2026 Season

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Women’s basketball league Unrivaled is expanding in its second season — both in its number of teams and its TV footprint.

The 3-on-3 league, co-founded by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, is adding a fourth night of games on TNT Sports for the coming season, which tips off Jan. 5. The league is also expanding to eight teams, up from six for its inaugural season earlier this year.

Games will air on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday throughout the eight-week season; TNT, TruTV and HBO Max will have the Friday and Monday contests, and Saturday and Sunday games will run on TruTV and HBO Max.

The additional night — last season didn’t have games on Sundays — allows Unrivaled to eliminate back-to-back games for its players. In the coming season, four teams will play on Friday and Sunday each week, and the other four will play on Saturday and Monday.

One of the things that I think our players credit us with the most is actually listening to them, and we want to keep them as healthy as humanly possible — not for not just for our league, but for the [WNBA] as well,” Unrivaled chief content officer John Learing told The Hollywood Reporter. “So when they did come to us and say that they would like us to consider ways to find some some some more [breaks in the schedule], it’s what our basketball ops team focused on probably more than anything in the offseason.”

TNT Sports’ Unrivaled telecasts will look somewhat different this season. Learing and TNT Sports executive vp and chief content officer Craig Barry told THR that the league’s purpose-built arena in Miami will feature more fans in the primary camera shots (last season, those shots were mostly of a large video wall) and bringing some more of TNT Sports’ long history televising basketball into the mix.

“We’re making a significantly larger contribution to the overall production presentation, because we want parity across all of our sports properties,” Barry told THR. “Not that it wasn’t good before — it just had room to grow and evolve.”

The changes to the arena setup are part of that, Barry noted: “The interesting thing about a small venue — especially a venue like that, where you have control of [the layout], the energy really is part of the primary driver of the presentation of the event. If you’ve been to that venue, the live energy is totally different while you’re there. The conversations that we’ve had [have focused on] the translation of that energy — we need to see it and feel it more through the screen.”

Unrivaled games averaged 221,000 viewers for TNT and TruTV simulcasts last season — a fraction of NBA or WNBA games on cable but a solid start for an entirely new league with a significantly different format (3-on-3 vs. 5-on-5) from other basketball leagues. Barry said the audience on TNT skewed about 60 percent female, significantly higher than for other women’s sports across linear TV.

“They’re finding their own audience, and they have a voice,” Barry said. “People are liking this product, and they’re going to find this league. That’s very reassuring when you’re creating something and looking for success.”

Unrivaled played all of its games in the 850-seat arena built for the league (and for TV production) last season, but it will on the road for one night in the coming season. On Jan. 30, two games (Breeze vs. Phantom and Rose vs. Lunar Owls) will take place at Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena, home of the NBA’s 76ers. “I think it will be fascinating to see what this looks like in a giant arena,” said Learing.

He also said staying with TNT Sports for season two of Unrivaled was a “no-brainer” for the league. “We always wanted to stay. It made the most sense,” he said. “We’re a brand new league. We’re entering our second season, and I just think that we wanted to uncomplicate the search for our content as much as possible. And we already had the best partner we could imagine.”

Simu Liu, Melissa Barrera Play Spy Games

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Simu Liu and Melissa Barrera play dangerous spy games in the teaser trailer for Peacock’s upcoming espionage thriller The Copenhagen Test, which dropped on Sunday.

Liu plays first-generation Chinese-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale, who discovers his brain has been hacked. That allows access to everything he sees and hears, which makes Hale an open book to his hidden puppet masters.

“I don’t know who I can trust anymore,” Hale says at one point as he’s caught between his shadowy agency and unseen hackers. Enter Barrera as Michelle, a mysterious siren who trades both punches and steamy kisses with Hale, judging by the series’ first-look footage, as he desperately tries to uncover the identity of his hackers.

Meanwhile Hale must continue to act normal to flush out who’s responsible for the hacking and prove where his allegiance lies.  “If they suspect you’re compromised, you’re dead,” Hale is warned as he goes down a rabbit hole in the sci-fi spy thriller.

The Copenhagen Test is set to premiere Dec. 27 on Peacock, and the release of the teaser coincides with co-star Liu touting the eight-parter during a New York Comic Con panel. The series, set five minutes in the future, also stars Sinclair Daniel, Brian D’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien and Kathleen Chalfant.

The Copenhagen Test was created by Thomas Brandon, who also showruns, writes and executive produces the series alongside Jennifer Yale. Also sharing executive producer credits are James Wan, Liu, Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, Mark Winemaker and Jet Wilkinson.
