This first premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival last year, and has been playing at tons of other fests all over the world since then. Merrill Nisker, the trailblazing Canadian feminist queer icon and musician known as Peaches, is the subject of this intimate documentary. Director Marie Losier has been following and filming Peaches for the past 17 years, capturing the dynamic and provocative essence of the musician – on stage and off stage. For 17 years, director Marie Losier has followed the trailblazing, provocative, and taboo-shattering career of artist and musician known as Peaches. From her early life, to her ascent towards becoming a queer feminist icon, her story is one that has defied expectations, exemplifying fearless exploration & rebellion. This documentary film Peaches Goes Bananas is an intimate portrait of this singular artist. Capturing her thrilling live shows, artistic process, close relationships with her family, and her rise to fame, the film is a “poetic… two-decade long conversation between two artists.” Peaches Goes Bananas is directed by French doc filmmaker Marie Losier, director of the films The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye, Cassandro The Exotico!, and Felix in Wonderland previously, plus tons of other short films. Produced by Sébastien Andres, Carole Chassaing, Alice Lemaire. This initially premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival last year, and it already opened in France earlier this year.
