Alia Bhatt has finally given herself some much-needed time off from her hectic routine to spend some idle time with close friends at Alibagh. The actress was seen heading off to the seaside town on Thursday, escorting her husband Ranbir Kapoor along. Wearing a simple yet elegant white dress, Alia cut a fashionable figure, and social media immediately took notice.

Snapshots and clips of the getaway, posted by Instant Bollywood, quickly turned viral. Fans invaded the comment areas with heart emojis, complimenting Alia’s natural look and sunny aura.

Social Media Buzz: Deepika Reacts to Alia’s Look

Prior to leaving, Alia also posted a series of glam pictures on her Instagram. Looking elegant in a white Gucci cut-out dress and holding a high-end bag, she captioned the picture: “the good, the bads and the glam @gucci ⭐ All ready for the #TheBadsOfBollywood!”

The post won appreciation from numerous people, including actress Deepika Padukone, who said, “STUNNING!” Bhumi Pednekar and Alia’s mom Soni Razdan were also among the others who appreciated her style and demeanor.

Google Gemini’s “Hug My Younger Self” Trend Takes Over

While Alia’s vacation trended, another pattern is trending on the net — Google Gemini’s “Hug My Younger Self” image reimagination, driven by its AI tool Nano Banana.

This feature allows users to create realistic, polaroid-type images of themselves hugging their younger versions, producing emotionally charged images with just one prompt. Although many netizens have welcomed the feature for its originality, others say such AI features are likely to dilute original human creativity.

Nevertheless, the emotional pull of this trend has been felt far and wide, with many creations spreading on various platforms and demonstrating how AI is further remaking the manner in which we express identity and nostalgia.

Netflix Sendup is Biting Satire and Big Fun

At the end of Episode 1 of “The Ba***ds of Bollywood,” I cackled so loudly that I startled my editor.

That’s the premiere of Aryan Khan’s Netflix series which ends with the line “Say no to drugs,” spoken directly into camera as a deliciously cheeky reference to Khan’s own 2021 drug charges that led to nearly a month of jail time. Back then, even being the son of Hindi film industry royalty (Shah Rukh Khan) couldn’t help — but now, it’s given a voice to one of the most promising talents in Bollywood.

“The Ba***ds of Bollywood” follows the rising star of Aasmaan Khan (Lakshya), an industry outsider with a massive hit on his hands and offers rolling in left and right. In the midst of a precarious contract situation, he nabs a leading role with director Karan Johar (played by himself) and Karishma Talwar (Sahher Bambba), her first leading role as she inherits the legacy of her megastar father Ajay (Bobby Deol).

Jason Clarke and Patricia Arquette in 'Murdaugh: Death in the Family'

Khan’s prime directive is to subvert every trope of the industry he’s grown up in, even when “Ba***ds” leans into its filmier tendencies (action sequences and aesthetics in particular). At its best, the series feels like “Hacks” or “The Studio” or hometown comp “Om Shanti Om.” Bollywood A-listers clock in and out as heightened and hilarious versions of themselves, from a truly superb turn from Johar to drive-bys from Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, and many more (my personal favorite is Episode 3’s outrageous guest arc). The industry functions on a delicate infrastructure of intimidation, backbiting, and the occasional contract amid endless favors, yanking Aasmaan through its machinations like a rag doll in the wind.

The ‘Ba***ds of Bollywood’Courtesy of Netflix

While the story belongs to Aasmaan and Karishma, casting directors Karan Mally and Nandini Shrikent surround the two leads with a dynamic ensemble. That includes Anya Singh as Aasmaan’s manager Sanya, Raghav Juyal as bestie Parvaiz, Manish Chaudhari as mustache-twirling studio executive Freddie Sodawallah, Manoj Pahwa as Aasmaan’s uncle Avtar, and Mona Singh and Vijayakant Kohli as his parents. Singh and Juyal share most of Lakshya’s scenes but their characters have little to no identity outside of Aasmaan — a flaw that reveals itself in correlation with the series softening its bite over the course of seven episodes, shifting focus to the tension between Aasmaan, Karishma, and Ajay and its outrageous climax.

Through it all Khan demonstrates unwavering loyalty to his more-than-slightly chaotic voice, even when he risks disorienting the audience. This is not your standard hero’s journey, love story, or family drama, and complacency will drive that home even further. It’s also not particularly interested in finding the most palatable offbeat path; from cursing to sex to violence, anyone can find something to balk at as much as to laugh.

The same way this writer/director took a hard left from the on-screen career millions have assumed for him since birth, his own creation defies expectations and crafts something far more memorable than any lukewarm nepo debut.

“The Ba***ds of Bollywood” is now streaming on Netflix.

Akansha’s sister, Anushka Ranjan, shared a carousel of photos from Alibaug on Instagram, captioning the post “Birthday love.” In some of the images, Alia looked vibrant in a colourful kaftan, while in others she dazzled in a white monokini. Akansha Ranjan also posted a series of pictures and videos from the celebration, captioning them, “the year where all the pieces are finally coming together.” The caption hinted that the group of childhood friends managed to find time to reunite and celebrate together this year.

Before heading to Alibaug, Alia Bhatt was spotted at the special screening of The Ba***ds of Bollywood. It has been directed by Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan. She caught attention in a rare Gucci archival piece—an iconic Tom Ford design from 1996.

Kareena Kapoor says Saif Ali Khan does not do ‘grand gestures,’ he wonders if tattoo of her name was ‘little’ in fun ad

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan have featured in a new commercial, where they talked about how well they knew each other.

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan are certainly one of the most well-known celebrity couples in the industry. Fans have been eager to see the two on screen, given their last outing together was in 2012’s Agent Vinod. Kareena and Saif finally united on screen again, though this time it is only for a brand commercial.

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s easy chemistry was the highlight of the ad.

Kareena and Saif’s new ad

On Friday, Kareena’s Instagram account was tagged in a new post with Spotify India. The post had a new ad which featured Kareena along with Saif. Kareena began by saying, “I know my Saif. He is not about grand gestures. For him, it is about the little things.” In response, Saif showed his big ‘Kareena’ tattoo on his hand and said, “Lagta hai tattoo thoda little reh gaya (It seems the tattoo was little)!”

Then, Kareena says that he also likes her surprise gifts- which was a drum set. Turns out, Saif likes to play guitar instead. Kareena also adds that in his spare time he likes to listen to ghazals. However, upon taking Saif’s phone and opening the Spotify app, she is surprised to know some remix song added to his playlist!

How fans reacted

Several fans reacted to the fun and light-hearted ad featuring Kareena and Saif in the comments section of the post. One said, “It is giving major Modern Family vibe, love it. plus can’t take eyes off from Kareena, her expressions are OG!” Another said, “This is amazing! Soo long since we saw Saif and you together in anything!” A comment read, “Love these two! So cute!”

Kareena and Saif married in October 2012 in Mumbai, after a few years of dating. He was earlier married to actor Amrita Singh. They parted ways in 2004. Saif and Amrita have two children Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. Saif and Kareena have two sons – Taimur Ali Khan (born in 2016) and Jehangir Ali Khan (born in 2021).

Fake wedding, real fun: India’s latest party craze has no couples, just celebrations

by jummy84 August 31, 2025
written by jummy84

New Delhi, Décor? Tick. Mehndi, music and mad dancing? Of course. Lavish buffet? That too. Baraatis? Yes. Bride and groom? Err… no. Not necessary at all.

Fake wedding, real fun: India’s latest party craze has no couples, just celebrations

Welcome to the new world of partying in urban India.

With the band, baaja, baraat in place, these big fat Indian ‘weddings’ are as fun as they can be – sans family fuss and an actual couple entering into matrimony. The faux wedding theme has become all the craze with the urban young and maybe not so young too grooving their way through commitment free bashes.

“It’s about letting guests dress up, dance, eat, and play the part purely for the joy of it,” said Nishant Kumar, founder of Tahia, a rooftop restaurant in Noida, who recently hosted a sold out fake wedding event.

“It’s a novel idea born out of nostalgia, drama, and a love for Indian celebrations. Weddings are one of the most vibrant expressions of culture, food, music, and emotion — but they’re also chaotic and personal. We thought: what if we gave people all the fun, drama, and indulgence of a big fat Indian wedding minus the family politics.”

The idea worked.

The ticketed events, priced between ₹1,500 and above ₹10,000, have partygoers unleashing their inner baraatis in not-wedding season.

The quirky invites and irresistible event descriptions are hard to ignore. Think lines like “Baraatis. Bass. Booze. Rishtedars Prohibited” or specialty cocktails with names like the cheeky “Shaadi Waali LIIT”.

Next, before anyone knows, girls are getting mehndi done and slipping into sequin lehengas, while boys turn up in embroidered kurtas. Strangers become friends and hit the dance floor to celebrate a wedding that’s quite literally unreal.

“There is none of the usual stress about what to wear or not wear that you’d have at a real wedding with nosy relatives around. We are just there with our friends, dancing to the beats of the dhol, enjoying the food and drinks without a care in the world,” said Natasha Ghai, a college student in her 20s.

“It felt liberating, and the wedding vibe was absolutely on point,” Gha added enthusiastically about one such fake wedding theme party she attended in Gurugram recently.

Apoorva Gupta, a Delhi-based media professional in her 30s who typically avoids social events, was surprisingly happy to accompany her friend and her friend’s mother to a relaxed, no-strings-attached wedding in south Delhi.

What drew her in wasn’t the idea of a wedding itself, but the absence of everything that usually makes such events exhausting.

“I never thought I’ll enjoy a so-called wedding event so much. I danced on wedding songs all night as if no one was watching and to be honest no one was. Everyone was too busy having their own fun. There was no pressure of small talk with distant relatives or pose for photos with bride and groom. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind attending more weddings if they were like this,” she laughed.

With numerous fake weddings held across Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Goa last month, and many more lined up for this month, the future of this trend looks just as sparkly as the venues themselves.

Kumar is ready with a Plan B.

“Once this wave passes, we’re ready with the next be it shaadi afterparties, or themed nights around break-ups, rishtas, or Bollywood clichés. The core stays the same: food, fun, and fantasy. The format just keeps evolving,” he explained.

According to Sid Mathur, founder of the food consulting firm Secret Ingredient, the events also offer a prime moment for experiential dining with consumers increasingly looking for more than just good food they want stories, surprise, and something a little off-centre.

“These immersive ideas, such as a faux wedding setup, create excitement and give people a reason to step out, especially in a saturated market. While they’re not meant to replace traditional formats, they add that burst of energy and fun that can reinvigorate a brand, especially when executed well and timed right,” he explained.

And there’s no shortage of out-of-the-box trends when it comes to immersive experiences.

The Piano Man, a chain of jazz clubs across Delhi-NCR that combines great music and food, has come up with the ‘Gourmet Cinema’ concept, where classic films are screened alongside menus inspired by the movie’s setting, mood, and storyline.

It recently screened “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” along with a Spanish menu inspired by the film to reflect its setting. “Ratatouille” was accompanied by dishes actually made in the hit animation. And “The Grand Budapest Hotel” was paired with a dining experience that captured the whimsical elegance of the film.

The response, said Arjun Sagar Gupta, founder of The Piano Man, is “absolutely fantastic”.

“Every show has been sold out and it is currently scheduled to run for an extended period, with fortnightly shows at both our Eldeco Centre and Gurugram venues. In addition to our core focus, which is showcasing music and artists from around the world, we have spent the last 10 years curating a variety of experiences across performance arts, education, fine art and more,” he added.

That said, Mathur, who is also the founder of KHOYA Mithai, pointed out that these playful dining concepts aren’t the bread and butter of the trade but are certainly the delightful, unexpected jam that makes people talk.

“They’re not designed to be the backbone of your business, but they add flavour, help generate virality, and serve as powerful marketing moments. They’re fantastic tools to create buzz and attract attention, especially for newer or rebranding establishments,” he concluded.

“Stan Lee made fun of my writing!” — Spider-Man PS1 celebrates 25 years

by jummy84 August 30, 2025

To celebrate the anniversary of such an iconic superhero game, Radio Times Gaming jumped on a call with its lead designer, Chad Findley.

You can see the full conversation in video form above, or on our YouTube channel, or keep on reading for some choice quotes from the interview.

Back in the year 2000, did Findley think that he’d still be talking about his Spider-Man game two and a half decades later?

“Not at all,” he tells us. “So back then, I was so early in my career, I was really happy just to be working on a game like this. I know I’ve been lucky with a lot of the games I got to work on over the years, but I knew at the time, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, you know?

“Bringing Spidey to 3D, like, who gets to do that? 3D games were, in general, kind of new. And, you know, even characters walking around was generally pretty janky. And I think Superman 64 was around the same time.

“So, you know, superhero games were getting started. So, I just wanted to make sure we did the source material justice and made a good game.

“And so, I was happy that we ended up serving both really well, I think, for the most part, and setting a good baseline for Spidey games and superhero games in general. But I was not expecting it still to be beloved. But I love that. It makes me really happy.”

There are so many iconic aspects to the game — from the ‘Kid Mode’ option on the start menu all the way through to the hybrid Doctor Octopus/Carnage that you face in the unforgettable final level.

We get into all of that and a whole lot more, including Findley’s work on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater around the same time, in the video version of this interview (which will also be available on our podcast feed next week).

By entering your details you are agreeing to our terms and conditions and privacy policy. You can unsubscribe at any time.

This site is protected by reCAPTCHA and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

So, how did that opening Stan Lee narration come about? “I was a huge Spidey nerd,” Findley recalls.

“So Stan used to write these yellow box intros to the issues he would do. And it would be, like, a little ‘wet the palette’, sneak peek into what’s about to happen in that issue, or what might have happened a little bit in the past.

Findley added: “But it was something to get the reader excited about the issue they’re about to read.

“And I wanted that for the game, because you know, I wanted the people to really get the feeling of it. And so Activision went after it, and said, ‘Hey, do you want to do this?’ He said yes.

“And man, that dude was fantastic. Like, he was a super fun guy. He knew what we were going for. He made fun of my writing because I stole from him so much in my style. But like, every part of working with that dude was awesome.”

It wasn’t a long collaboration. Findley recalls, “It was only a day or two, but it was cherished. Like, I remember those days super fondly. It’s one of my best development days.”

Findley and Spidey were a great combo. Activision / Marvel

And what does it mean to the developers that people still look back on this game so fondly?

“It makes me happy that people loved what we took from the original books and put out there, and that we did a good enough job with the controls,” he told us.

“There’s definitely issues with it still. But like, that was step one going into a completely new area. We’re going blind into this.

“And so, I think we did a good job with getting that first step for superhero games, and Spidey in particular, to be accessible to people and enjoy it.

“And I just love that people reacted to it so well. And it makes me very happy.”

To hear more about the development of Spider-Man PS1, and Findley’s take on the more recent Spidey games out of Insomniac, check out the full interview over on our YouTube channel.

The Ganpati festivities at the Khan house have always been a big bash, and this year was no exception. It was celebrated at Arpita Khan Sharma and Aayush Sharma’s house, and the whole of Khan-daan—Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, and Arbaaz Khan included got together to celebrate the festival with music and high spirits. The mood was charged with devotion, music, and high spirits as the family said goodbye to Lord Ganesha.

Salman Khan Steals the Limelight at Visarjan

After a video of the family celebrating Ganpati aarti went viral, new footages from the Ganpati Visarjan ceremony have now emerged online. The star of the show was none other than Salman Khan, who could be seen dancing vigorously to the dhol beats. Looking effortless in a simple yet classic attire a Being Human t-shirt and blue jeans—Salman was in high spirits as he celebrated with his family.

They were accompanied by Arpita Khan Sharma, Aayush Sharma, and the rest of the family members, including his nieces and nephews. Sonakshi Sinha and her hubby Zaheer Iqbal were also seen dancing with great joy, becoming a part of the grand farewell by Khan family to Bappa. The whole family reunited in great enthusiasm, making the moment even more unforgettable.

Tight Security Amid Festivities

In spite of the festivities, Salman Khan was kept under strict security during the Visarjan. The actor, who has been facing threats for the last few months, came with a huge convoy and was accompanied by security officials. Though he was a part of the celebrations whole-heartedly, his team took complete precautions to ensure everything was safe.

Ganpati festivities at Arpita’s residence typically go on for a day and a half, and the visarjan is always accompanied by a vibrant procession. The event was once again reminiscent of the family’s passion and togetherness this year, and a visual delight for the audience.

Salman Khan Gets Ready for ‘Battle of Galwan’

Professionally, Salman Khan is preparing for his next film, Battle of Galwan. Helmed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is an adaptation of the 2020 India-China battle in the Galwan Valley. Salman will be seen playing Colonel B. Santosh Babu, the true-life hero who died in the conflict. The actor is said to be undergoing rigorous training for the film, assuring a strong performance in this patriotic drama.

Fun Full Trailer for Spanish Animation ‘The Treasure of Barracuda’ Film

Off on another adventure! Filmax in Spain has debuted the full official trailer for an animated comedy kids movie titled El Tesoro de Barracuda, or The Treasure of Barracuda in English, from the book series of the same name. This opens first in Spain in September after premiering at the 2025 San Sebastian Film Festival. This thrilling new pirate adventure has all the usual ingredients: secret maps, chases, naval battles, and unforgettable characters. On board the dreaded The Southern Cross, she’s the only hope for an illiterate crew to find the legendary treasure of Phineas Krane. With Captain Barracuda & John La Ballena, protector of Sparks, they will form a trio of treasure hunters. The big twist: the pirates can’t read. But Sparks will teach them! From director Adrià García, the Spanish production is animated by Hampa Animation Studio in Valencia, produced by Inicia Films and Belvision. With the voices of Ángel del Río, Laia Vidal, & Mark Ullod. This looks like so much fun! I’m delighted by this animation style and recommend this film for kids.

Here’s the main official trailer for Adrià García’s animated movie El Tesoro de Barracuda, via YouTube:

You can view the teaser trailer for Adrià García’s El Tesoro de Barracuda right here for the first look again.

While trying to find her parents, Chispas ends up by accident on Captain Barracuda’s pirate ship, manned by fearsome sailors armed to the teeth and with a serious problem: they can’t read. Only she can help them find the treasure of Phineas Crane, the most valuable and coveted by all the pirates of the Caribbean. Thus begins an adventure that will change their lives forever.
