Inspection Bungalow Turns Fear Into Fun in Malayalam’s First Horror Comedy Series

by jummy84 November 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Malayalam audiences are in for something refreshingly offbeat with Inspection Bungalow, a new horror comedy that dares to laugh in the dark. Premiering on November 14, the series stars actor and lyricist Shabareesh Varma as Sub-Inspector Vishnu, a small-town cop whose latest posting turns his life upside down.

When Fear Finds Its Funny Bone

Set in the sleepy village of Aravangad, the story begins with Vishnu’s reluctant transfer to an abandoned government property ominously known as the Inspection Bungalow. What seems like a simple relocation soon unravels into a nightmare of strange deaths, eerie apparitions and buried secrets that refuse to rest. When the past starts closing in, Vishnu joins hands with Mythili, a sharp-minded paranormal researcher, to piece together a mystery that is as absurd as it is terrifying.

Billed as “a chilling yet heartwarming ride,” the series promises a blend of suspense and silliness that’s rare in Malayalam entertainment. The humour sneaks in where the fear peaks, making the tension both eerie and oddly entertaining.

Laughing Through the Darkness

Director Saiju SS, who earlier helmed the thriller Ira, takes a bold leap with Inspection Bungalow, backed by writer Suneesh Varanadu. Veena Nair produces the series under her own banner, while Sudheer Surendran captures its haunting frames, Akhil Das Harippadu handles editing, and Denson Domnic scores the music and serves as the show’s creator.

The cast includes familiar Malayalam faces such as Aadhya Prasad, Senthil Krishna, Shaju Sreedhar, Jayan Cherthala, Sreejith Ravi, Balaji Sharma, and Manohari Joy, each adding shades of humour and horror to the ensemble.

Speaking about the project, Saiju says the show isn’t just about scares. “Inspection Bungalow is about how we find meaning and laughter even in fear. Every scene is built to make viewers feel something real, whether it’s amusement, tension, or empathy.”

Shabareesh Varma calls his role one of the most layered he has taken on. “Vishnu is a man caught between fear and irony, someone who finds humour in the absurd. The balance between emotion and dark comedy pushed me as a performer,” he explains.

The tone of Inspection Bungalow leans more toward the quirky and introspective than the typical horror template. It’s the kind of show where a haunted house might hold both a ghost and a punchline.

With this series, Malayalam content takes a brave step into genre-bending storytelling. It’s spooky, it’s funny, and it carries a touch of humanity that lingers after the laughs fade. Inspection Bungalow is not just a show about what goes bump in the night—it’s about how laughter sometimes becomes the only way to face what scares us most.

The drama inside the Bigg Boss 19 house keeps getting spicier each day. This time, the spotlight is on actors Abhishek Bajaj and Ashnoor Kaur, whose friendship has become a hot topic both inside and outside the house. Viewers have been speculating whether their bond is just friendship or something more, though both have firmly stated that there’s nothing romantic between them.

Kunika Sadanand Compared Age To Her Son

In the latest episode of Bigg Boss 19, contestant Kunika Sadanand made a rather interesting observation about Ashnoor and Abhishek’s age gap, comparing it to the age difference between herself and her own son. While cooking in the kitchen, Kunika said, “You know, the age gap between Ashnoor and Abhishek is the same as the one between me and my son. I had my son when I was seventeen and a half.”

Her comment left Tanya Mallik, Farhana Bhatt, and Neelam Giri shocked. Tanya jokingly asked, “At what age did you get married?” Kunika replied, “My first marriage happened when I was 16.” Farhana then shared that her mother too got married young but later separated. She added that her father left her mother’s home three months before her birth and that her mother raised her alone, saying she’s never even seen her father.

Let us tell you that Ashnoor Kaur is 21 years old, while Abhishek Bajaj is 33, there is a 12-year age gap between them. Abhishek was previously married to Akanksha Jindal, but the two divorced after three years. Despite the age difference, Abhishek and Ashnoor share a strong, fun-loving bond inside the house. Their easy chemistry and playful moments have caught the audience’s attention. While some fans are convinced there’s a romantic connection, both have maintained that they are just good friends.

After completing their military service earlier this year, BTS members Jimin and Jungkook are ready to take fans on a new adventure. The duo, who enlisted together as buddy soldiers in the Republic of Korea military on December 12, 2023, were officially discharged on June 11, 2025. Just a week later, the two set off for Switzerland and Vietnam, filming the second season of their beloved travel variety show, Are You Sure?!

Now confirmed to premiere on December 3, 2025, Are You Sure?! Season 2 will stream exclusively on Disney+, featuring eight episodes released two per week over four weeks. The show follows Jimin and Jungkook on a 12-day minimalist journey across two Asian countries, equipped with only a limited budget, minimal luggage, and an old travel guidebook. Viewers will see how the duo earn their own living expenses, interact with locals, and embrace spontaneous experiences — all while showcasing their easy camaraderie and humor.

The new season promises laughter, heartfelt moments, and glimpses of how much the pair have grown since their pre-military travels in Season 1. Stills from the show capture the singers posing in front of Switzerland’s Matterhorn and enjoying a tranquil night view at Hoi An Beach in Vietnam.

The first season of Are You Sure?! took fans along as the duo explored New York State, Jeju Island, and Sapporo, with V making a brief guest appearance. The series became a fan favorite for its warm, healing atmosphere and genuine friendship moments.

Excitement is building among the ARMY, especially with rumors that BTS leader RM may join Jimin and Jungkook in Switzerland during his visit to Art Basel, adding another layer of nostalgia and connection to the show.

“This is the best time I’ve ever had – and it’s ’cause of you.” Another 2025 holiday movie entry. Brainstorm Media has unveiled an official trailer for the movie Tinsel Town, a new Christmas-time comedy starring Kiefer Sutherland who gets mixed in a small town in England during the holidays. Made by director Chris Foggin, arriving to watch later in November for anyone who might be interested. A washed-up Hollywood action star leaves the US and ends up taking a surprise role in a small English village’s Christmas pageant production of Cinderella. With the help of the straight-talking choreographer and quirky cast in the town, he embraces the holiday spirit while reconnecting with his young daughter. The feel-good movie stars Kiefer Sutherland as “Bradley Mack”, Rebel Wilson, Derek Jacobi, Mawaan Rizwan, Maria Friedman, Jason Manford, Asim Chaudhry, Danny Dyer, Ray Fearon, and Lucien Laviscount. This looks like it has at least a few funny scenes. But it also just reminds me how much better The Holiday is in every way.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Chris Foggin’s film Tinsel Town, direct from YouTube:

Kiefer Sutherland stars as a Hollywood action star with a bloated ego, who is blindsided when his iconic action franchise is abruptly cancelled. With his career in freefall, he heads to England, hoping to land a role on the West End, but instead finds himself playing a role in small English village’s Christmas pageant. With the help of the outspoken choreographer & quirky cast, he embraces the holiday spirit to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Tinsel Town is directed by British filmmaker Chris Foggin, director of the films Kids in Love, Fisherman’s Friends, This Is Christmas, and the two Bank of Dave movies previously. The screenplay is written by Frazer Flintham, Adam Brown, Piers Ashworth, and Jake Brunger. Produced by Matt Williams, Pascal Degove, Ava Aashna Chopra. Brainstorm Media debuts Foggin’s Tinsel Town comedy in select US theaters + on VOD starting on November 28th, 2025 coming up. Who wants to watch it? 🎄

Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman’s “fun” film confirms UK streaming date

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Two months on from its release in cinemas, a streaming release date has been confirmed for the comedy film The Roses, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman.

The film, which hit cinemas in August, will be available to watch on Disney Plus from 3rd December this year – so not too long to wait at all.

The Roses is a savage and star-filled reimagining of the 1989 classic The War of the Roses, itself based on the novel of the same name by Warren Adler.

It starred Cumberbatch and Colman as the seemingly perfect couple, Ivy and Theo, both of whom appear successful and happy in their day-to-day lives.

However, their relationship suddenly goes into freefall after Theo’s career nosedives and Ivy’s own ambitions take off, in what has been described as “a story of real life gone spectacularly wrong”.

Directed by Jay Roach, the film also boasted a starry supporting cast including Andy Samberg, Ncuti Gatwa, Kate McKinnon, Zoë Chao, Hala Finley, Jamie Demetriou and Sunita Mani.

It has largely been well received by critics, with the Hollywood Reporter stating that “Cumberbatch and Coleman are terrific” and has been certified as Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with 65 per cent of 187 critics’ reviews being positive.

In our own review, we gave the film three stars out of five, finding it to be fun but toothless, arguing that its two leads perhaps failed to fully portray the bitterness that comes to the fore as the film progresses.

Described as a satirical black comedy, it will hitting the streaming service just in time for Christmas.

The Roses will be available to stream on Disney+ from 3rd December.

Fun Trailer for Jason Kelce’s ‘Thermal Buzz’ Predator-Inspired Short

“A lot of Predators in this jungle…” 20th Century Studios & Garage Beer have unveiled a trailer for a new sci-fi short film called Thermal Buzz, a marketing riff on the original Predator movie. Even though this is essentially just a big promo for the Garage Beer brand (is the beer any good??), in partnership with former football player / current podcaster Jason Kelce, it’s actually produced & created in collaboration with 20th Century Studios to help also promote the release of Predator: Badlands. Thermal Buzz is an homage to the original 1987 Predator movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger & Carl Weathers. It drops online via the Garage Beer channels this weekend – one week before the full release of Dan Trachtneberg’s Predator: Badlands. Thermal Buzz stars Jason Kelce, pro-wrestler Matt Cardona, & former Philly Eagles player Beau Allen. This looks amusing enough, but I’d rather see other filmmakers making actual short film spin-offs instead.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Jordan Phoenix’s short film Thermal Buzz, direct from YouTube:

The film follows two men who face off against Predators in the jungle while enjoying some refreshing beer. In collaboration with 20th Century Studios and the release of Predator: Badlands, Garage Beer and Jason Kelce are back on the screen with Thermal Buzz, a homage to the original 1987 Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Thermal Buzz is directed by filmmaker Jordan Phoenix, of the other Brewmite short films previously. Created and produced by Garage Beer as a promotional stunt – in collaboration with the release of Predator: Badlands. The Thermal Buzz short debuts on Garage Beer’s social channels starting on October 31st, 2025. 20th Century will also release Dan Trachtenberg’s Predator: Badlands movie in theaters (huzzah!!) nationwide starting on November 7th, 2025 coming up soon. Who’s ready to watch?

9 Fun Facts About Black Thought, Redman From ‘Musicians On Musicians’

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

The two legendary lyricists spoke on the creative process, spirituality, and more.

Black Thought and Redman were the latest subjects to appear on Rolling Stone‘s Musicians on Musicians series, with the Hip-Hop legends being paired together for a discussion revolving around the creative process, their personal lives, and more.

Routinely listed among the greatest rappers’ list of favorite rappers, Black Thought and Redman’s conversation was filled with expressions of mutual respect and admiration.

From insights into pivotal moments in their respective careers, to the tease of a collaboration between the two on The Roots member’s forthcoming album Streams of Thought Vol. 4., the sit-down was filled with captivating soundbites and

VIBE shares 10 fun facts we learned about Black Thought and Redman from Rolling Stone‘s seventh annual Musicians on Musicians series.

  • Run-DMC Being Redman’s Gateway Into Hip-Hop

Many fans may be unaware of Redman‘s skills as a DJ and producer, but the New Jersey native credits DJ Grandmaster Flash as an early influence in those regards, as well as Run-DMC solidifying his passion for Hip-Hop.

“When I first heard The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash, I was like, ‘Wow, what is this?,’” Redman told Black Thought.

“And then it moved on to Run-DMC and when I first seen them. Not just heard them, but when I seen them with the black leather and the no strings in their Adidas and Godfather [hats], I literally thought they were the new God.

“I was like, ‘What is this going on? I’ve got to be a part of this music, this fabric.’ It was something that changed my life. Meaning, I don’t care about the money, I don’t care about the fame, I just want to do this for this rest of my life. For the love of it.”

  • Redman’s Admiration Of Black Thought’s Skills As A Performer And Lyricist

    RedmanRedman

Despite making his debut prior to Black Thought and The Roots, Redman credits the group with inspiring him to level up as a lyricist, revealing that he used Black Thought’s skills as a measuring stick to his own.

“Y’all was in my CD player, y’all was part of my growth of dopeness and caliber of how I should be spitting, especially you, bro,” Redman said of Black Thought.

“Especially songs like ‘Desperado.’ Those songs resonated across my path and my journey of being an emcee and you held a high bar of what an emcee should be and how they should rap.

“And one thing I admired about you and still admire is you [being] out on stage bodying sh*t without a hype-man or someone to back you up,” Redman marveled.

“I be like, ‘Yo, how did he do it, where did he get the breath? But then again, from emcee to another emcee, it’s how you write your rhymes. You write your bars with your breaths [already inserted].

“You’re not over-stacking it, you’re not overlaying vocals where you would have to have someone come in for this line. the emcee control of the whole rhymes being said without [needing] a hype-man.”

  • Redman’s Guest Appearance On Black Thought’s ‘Streams Of Thought Vol. 4’ Album

    RedmanRedman

Black Thought has spent the past several years stepping out as a soloist with his critically-acclaimed Streams of Thought series, with the latest volume in the collection currently in the works.

During his time with Redman, Black Thought announced that the New Jersey bred spitter will make an appearance on the project, which he bills as the best work he’s ever done outside of The Roots.

“In many way, I feel like it’s my opus,” Black Thought gushed. “It’s got the most features, the most elaborate beats, crazy samples, and part of that is the problem, trying to get all this stuff cleared.

“But your verse on that song and on that record is definitely coming out and I think it’s super powerful. I think that verse represents part of your growth. It speaks to your mentorship, your activism, just where you are now based on where you were earlier in your career.”

  • The Impact College Radio Had On Redman’s Career

    RedmanRedman

Grassroots movements are nothing new in music, but have shifted in form, with streamers and podcasters now among the chief champions of new and independent artists today.

During the ’80s and ’90s, college radio stations were a major conduit that helped aspiring artists gain traction and build a fanbase, helping expose them to a wider audience and the attention of the record industry.

Redman praised the role in which these platforms helped impact his career. “My main outlet for people hearing my music was college radio stations,” the 55-year-old said.

“College radio [stations] were just as important, if not bigger, than major radio in my era because the major radio stations listened to college radio to see what was hot and then they would play it.”

Black Thought chimed in, comparing and contrasting their era to that of today, which he feels has given listeners “sensory overload” due to the sheer amount of options they have to access music.

“I mean, New York City, Stretch & Bobbito, that dictated what you would later hear on the Hot 97s and the [W]BLS’.” Black Thought said, with Redman seconding that theory.

“They can get their album right there and don’t have to listen to everything,” Redman added. “They can go right to their favorite song [and] keep it repeat on their phone so that limits the thoroughness of you wanting to hear your favorite artists.

  • Black Thought On The Evolution Of Music Distribution

    Black ThoughtBlack Thought
Image Credit: Leigh Vogel/Getty Images for Congressional Black Caucus Foundation

Black Thought and Redman touched on the evolution of Hip-Hop over the decades, particularly the spirit of independence and artists distributing their music directly to the consumer.

“Lets consider the ways in which Hip-Hop has sort of changed since we got into the game, but then the ways that it hasn’t changed,” Black Thought said while addressing the topic.

“One of the ways is how people receive music now. They done cut the middle-man out, it’s direct to sender. We come from the era of you’ve got to partner up with a distributor to get your joints into stores and to get your joints onto radio and all that. I think that’s definitely changed.”

  • Black Thought On The Roots’ Foundation As Road Warriors

    Black ThoughtBlack Thought
Image Credit: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images for Tribeca Festival

In terms of live performers, The Roots have been among the standard bearers since their emergence, rocking stages across the globe as one of Hip-Hop’s most active touring groups.

Black Thought reveals that their lengthy runs on the road are equally driven by passion and design, as the profits from touring helped sustain the band despite middling commercial success for much of their career.

“In The Roots’ capacity, we’ve always banked on awareness. We would record a record because that would support us being on tour and we would go out and we would tour,” Black Thought expalined.

“So we would do the new songs, but we never put out an album with the intention of, ‘Oh, this is going to go double, triple platinum.’ We just weren’t that sort of act, we weren’t doing those numbers,” he addmitted.

:So I think there’s something in just doing music to sustain your career as a road warrior. You talk about that balance, we definitely struck that balance.”

  • Jimmy Fallon Recruited The Roots To Be His House Band

    Black ThoughtBlack Thought
Image Credit: Bryan Bedder/Getty Images for A+E

The Roots being tapped by late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon was a historic move for the band, giving them an unprecedented amount of exposure and broadening their base like never before.

When asked by Redman how the partnership occurred, Black Thought points to Fallon’s love for music and his persistence as the traits that helped seal the deal.

“Jimmy was always a huge music nerd, just into real music. Live music, touring bands who were popular, and he’s a huge, huge Beastie Boys fan. that’s like his top tier,” Black Thought said of Fallon. “And that’s the first band that took The Roots on tour so the Beastie Boys kind of showed us how to be on the road.”

Black Thought recalled the award winning host making impromptu appearances at the band’s live shows in his attempts to recruit them as his show’s in-house band.

“I need a band and would you be interested in doing it?’” Black Thought said of Fallon’s proposal. “We just thought he was bullsh*tting until he kept coming around. We would show up at a gig and he’d be in our dressing room and be like, ‘Hey, what’s up!’

“You know I was serious about the thing we talked about.’ And we just started taking him seriously over time because he was dedicated.

“He showed up a bunch of times, sort of pitching it. And this was around the time we had just got done working [on] Dave Chappelle’s show. Again, it was just timing. It was so much uncertainty at that time so it sounded good to have, sort of like, a day job. The consistency of a quote-unquote nine-to-five, it made sense.”

  • Black Thought On Ziplining With Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon And Black ThoughtJimmy Fallon And Black Thought
Image Credit: Todd Owyoung/NBC via Getty Images

Black Thought appeared hesitant in accepting Redman‘s offer to take him skydiving, however, the Philadelphia native shared his experiencing of braving the air during an excursion with late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon.

“Me and Jimmy Fallon went to Puerto Rico and we did the zipline,” Black Thought revealed. “At the time, it was the highest, longest zipline [in the world] called ‘The Beast’ or ‘The Monster’ or something. That’s the closest I’ve ever come to skydiving because though you’re connected to the cables, you’re connected laying flat and your arms are kind of behind your back and your legs are out sort of thing.”

The GRAMMY Award winning artist went on to admit being surprised at the enjoyment he felt while participating in the activity “It was an adrenaline rush that I didn’t think I was going to love, but I loved it.”

  • The Roots’ Former Manager Also Served As Their Life Coach

    Black ThoughtBlack Thought
Image Credit: Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for GQ

Black Thought‘s rhymes are often filled with poignant reflections and observations on life, evidence of his willingness to delve beneath the surface and within oneself. When speaking on his spirituality and self-development, the 52-year-old praised Rich Nichols, who served as The Roots‘ longtime manager prior to passing away in 2014, with guiding him and his bandmates along that path.

“He came at a time when I really needed that guidance and discipline,” Black Thought said of Nichols. I met Rich maybe two or three years after I lost my mom. I lost my father at a super young age, like one or two [years old], and then my mom passed away when I was in high school. We were already The Roots, me and Quest were already partners when I lost my mom.”

According to Black Thought, Nichols was more than a manager, playing an influential role in his life and maturation as a man. “I think Rich came along and sort of filled a void and I say father figure because he was a man but it was almost like he filled part of what I lost when I lost my mother,” he added.

“What he brought into the picture was that level of awareness and discipline and he was just an OG who was already up on all those things so he really instilled it within us. Within me and Quest and Kamal [Gray]and all of us who were around for the earlier days of The Roots. He changed all of our lives in that way.”

Fun Fully LEGO Version of Jon M. Chu’s ‘Wicked: For Good’ Featurette

by Alex Billington

“We have more action, more flying, more reveals, more drama.” More Witches & Wizards! Universal has revealed a fun LEGO recreation of the recent featurette for Jon M. Chu’s Wicked: For Good, opening in theaters everywhere in November. This behind-the-scenes look complements the first trailer a few months back. For Good is the second chapter of this immersive, cultural celebration. “It’s really about them trying to get back together in some way, even if the fates don’t allow that.” As an angry mob rises up against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba will need to come together one final time. With their strong friendship now the fulcrum of their futures, they will need to truly see each other, with honesty and empathy, if they are to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good. Cynthia Erivo stars as Elphaba Thropp, a young woman with green skin who becomes the Wicked Witch. Ariana Grande co-stars as Glinda, with Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, plus Jeff Goldblum as the iconic Wizard of Oz. With Sharon D. Clarke as the voice of Elphaba’s childhood nanny, Dulcibear. This is a shot-for-shot remake of the featurette from August, including all the behind-the-scenes, on set footage with Chu being redone in LEGO, too. Which is the most amusing part about it. Enjoy.

Here’s the fun LEGO version of the featurette for Jon M. Chu’s sequel Wicked: For Good, from YouTube:

Wicked: For Good Featurette

Wicked: For Good Featurette

“You’re the only friend I ever had…” The final chapter of the untold story of the witches of Oz begins with Elphaba and Glinda estranged and living with the consequences of their choices. Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), now demonized as The Wicked Witch of the West, lives in exile, hidden in the Ozian forest while continuing her fight for the freedom of Oz’s silenced Animals and desperately trying to expose the truth she knows about The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum). Glinda, meanwhile, has become the glamorous symbol of Goodness for all of Oz, living at the palace in Emerald City and reveling in the perks of fame and popularity. However, under the instruction of Madame Morrible (Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh), Glinda is then deployed to serve as an effervescent comfort to all of Oz, reassuring the masses that all is well under the rule of The Wizard.

Wicked: For Good, also known as Wicked: Part Two, is also directed by talented American filmmaker Jon M. Chu, director of the movies Step Up 2: The Streets, The LXD, Step Up 3D, G.I. “He believed it was okay for a coach to love his players.” In doing so, he changed leadership in professional sports and left a legacy that continues to resonate with NFL generations even today. Blue Harbor Ent. has revealed an official trailer for the documentary film titled Luv Ya Bum!, which is actually a sports history film about Texas football in the 1970s. With narration from actor Dennis Quaid. In the ’70s, the struggling Houston Oilers turned to Bum Phillips, an unconventional cowboy-hat-wearing coach who built a family-first team of misfits and stars such as Earl Campbell. Together they ignited the “Luv Ya Blue!” phenomenon, challenged the Steelers dynasty, and captured a city’s heart. Featuring rare, archival footage and impactful interviews with football legends, including Earl Campbell, Dan Pastorini, Peyton Manning, Sean McVay, Terry Bradshaw, Jerry Jones, J.J. Watt, Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware, and Bum’s own son & grandson, NFL coaches Wade and Wes Phillips. This premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival and won the Documentary Spotlight Audience Award. Looks like a fun one to watch even if you aren’t familiar with Coach Bum already.
