bitchy | Republic wants a full disclosure of Prince William & Kate’s meager schedule

by jummy84 October 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Republic, the anti-monarchy group in the UK, is having a hell of a week. Republic’s chief executive Graham Smith has been all over the Prince Andrew stories, making some excellent points about how the Windsors are treating Andrew like a family problem to be buried. As opposed to treating Andrew like a rapist criminal who should be investigated by British and American authorities. Well, Republic is also making another big move. They’re calling for a full disclosure of the Windsors’ bare-bones work schedules. Republic wants a full accounting of how few events the “working royals” actually do, especially the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Campaigners have called for a full disclosure of “just how little the royals do” following media coverage of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s visit to Northern Ireland. Despite media outlets reporting his visit to Northern Ireland this week, anti-monarchy group Republic has shared records showing Prince William has a “work-shy” schedule. Data taken from the court circular – the official record of past royal engagements – shows William only has only had engagements on 13 days in the space of two and a half months between August 1 and October 15 and several of these are described as “brief”. Republic says it suggests he engaged in “the full-time equivalent of three to four days of engagements” during the period.

Graham Smith, chief executive of Republic, said the royal family give a “false impression” of being busy and has called for more honesty.

“The palace likes to paint a picture of busy royals supporting good causes. The reality is a workshy family who occasional patronise charities – usually a short drive from Windsor – to give an entirely false impression. William and Kate are particularly lazy, putting in just a few weeks full-time equivalent of engagements, while the public pay William a private income of more than £23 million a year. We need full and honest disclosure about just how little the royals do and negligible impact they have on public life.”

August was completely blank in William’s calendar before a “brief visit” to the Natural History Museum in London appears on September 4. He then went to a rugby match on September 6 before visiting Ascot and going to a couple of Homewards engagements – a programme he launched to tackle homelessness – the following week. The only other engagements he had in September were brief visits to Cardiff and Southport, private meetings, a charity dinner, investiture, and a video call with organisation Earthshot.

An investiture ceremony is a formal event where someone receives an official title, rank, or award. He has only had five days in October so far with engagements scheduled so far including a brief meeting with the Estonian president and a charity launch event. During their first visit to Northern Ireland for three years, William and Kate met recently-qualified firefighters and visited farms.

A 27-page report from Republic last year laid out how the royal household now costs the taxpayer £500m a year. The estimated price tag of £510m included hundreds of millions of pounds not accounted for by the Sovereign Grant – a payment that is made annually to the monarch to help fund their official duties. Republic said the bill for the royals included lost income from the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall, as well as an estimated £150m security bill, costs to struggling local councils and lost revenue from state buildings used exclusively by the royals. It was confirmed in July that soaring profits from the Crown Estate to £1.1 billion mean the taxpayer-funded Sovereign Grant will increase from £86.3m in 2024/2025 to £132m in 2025/2026.

[From The National]

I didn’t realize that this week was Will & Kate’s first time in Northern Ireland in three years!! I knew it had been a while for Kate, but I thought William had traveled there more recently. Guess not. That’s crazy. “Despite media outlets reporting his visit to Northern Ireland this week…” That was just one day. The National is like “but we saw him working this week!” Because I keep track of these things for this job, William and Kate had one day of real work in Northern Ireland on Tuesday, where they jammed in several events over the course of several hours (Kate even had a costume change). On Wednesday, Will and Kate did a “greeting” with Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein and his wife. William and Hussein then did a second event at an RAF base while Kate… went home and sulked, apparently. I guess my point is that yes, William and Kate are extremely lazy. William actually works more than Kate, but people don’t realize it because William’s solo events get so little attention. Even for William and Kate’s regular, decades-long laziness, they’ve been exceptionally lazy this year. They skipped the BAFTAs because they went on vacation. They had a long summer holiday. They’ve gone on at least three ski holidays this year. The only reason why we saw them at all in September is because Prince Harry visited the UK. “Competing with the Sussexes” explains more than half of their events this year.

“Santa’s gonna slay!” Oh dang! 🎅🪓 This looks gnarly. Cineverse has revealed the main official trailer for the modern remake of horror cult classic Silent Night, Deadly Night – which is coming to disturb your holiday season this year. “In 1984, one film shocked audiences, was banned from theaters, and traumatized a generation. From the studio that brought you Terrifier 3, comes a new, and unrated, vision of the cult classic. This Christmas, spread the holiday fear.” Not for everyone! A child witnesses his parents’ murder by a man in a Santa suit. Years later, now as an adult, he dons a Santa costume himself and embarks on a violent quest for retribution against those responsible for the traumatic event in his childhood… Written & directed by Mike P. Nelson, this horror stars Rohan Campbell, Ruby Modine, Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson. This freaky film is already set for release in December later in the year. It definitely looks like you have to put the kids to bed before you even consider watching it! Brutal.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Mike P. Nelson’s horror Silent Night, Deadly Night, on YouTube:

A reimagining of the controversial 1984 cult horror classic (directed by Charles E. Sellier Jr) – When Billy witnesses his parents’ grisly murder on Christmas Eve at the hands of Santa, it ignites a lifelong mission to spread holiday fear. Every Christmas, he dons the jolly red suit and delivers a blood-soaked massacre to feed his twisted sense of justice. This Christmas Eve, Billy wants to know: “Have you been naughty?” 🎅 This new Silent Night, Deadly Night is both written and directed by American filmmaker Mike P. Nelson, a former sound mixer and director of the films Summer School, The Domestics, and Wrong Turn previously, plus a segment in VCR horror V/H/S/85. It’s produced by Erik Bernard, Scott Schneid, Jamie R. Thompson, Jeremy Torrie, Dennis Whitehead. Cineverse will be releasing this new Silent Night, Deadly Night update in select theaters starting on December 12th, 2025 at the end of the year. Ho ho ho. Anyone want to watch?

“Spending all that time with a possible murderer doesn’t scare you?” It should! Another unsettling shocker series to watch. Netflix has debuted the main official trailer for another brand new series titled The Beast in Me, a crime thriller following a woman investigating her neighbor. Set to launch on Netflix in November. From the creators of “Homeland” comes another tricky new series. Author Aggie Wiggs, grieving her the loss of her son, finds new purpose unraveling the mystery behind neighbor Nile Sheldon’s vanished wife and his suspicious dealings. At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth – chasing his demons while fleeing her own – in a game of cat & mouse that might turn deadly. Surprise, surprise. The series stars Claire Danes, Matthew Rhys, Brittany Snow, & Natalie Morales. With Jonathan Banks, David Lyons, Tim Guinee, Hettienne Park, Deidre O’Connell, Aleyse Shannon, Will Brill, Kate Burton, Bill Irwin, Amir Arison, & Julie Ann Emery. “The title of the series comes from a Johnny Cash song — but it’s not as simple as it might initially seem. It really is about all of our complicity.” So he’s some kind of Dexter killer (maybe?) but there’s more explaining how we’re all complicit, right? Intriguing…

Here’s the full trailer (+ poster) for Gabe Rotter & Howard Gordon’s series The Beast in Me, via YouTube:

At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth – chasing his demons while fleeing her own – in a game of cat & mouse that might turn deadly. The Beast in Me is created by writer Gabe Rotter (of “The X-Files”). It’s showrun & co-written by Howard Gordon (of “The X-Files”, “Homeland”, “24”). With writing by Gabe Rotter, Erika Sheffer, C.A. This movie is a Hiroshi Sakurazaka production with animation by STUDIO4°C in Japan, directed by Kenichiro Akimoto. Now set for release in Japan in January 2026 after playing at a few festivals this fall. Many will remember this title, as All You Need is Kill is the same story that was adapted & turned into the awesome time loop action thriller Edge of Tomorrow (aka Live Die Repeat) with Tom Cruise & Emily Blunt. After an unidentified plant from outer space invades, Rita finds herself trapped in a time loop, forced to relive the same day over and over again. Her memories and experiences sharpen her skills, turning her into a formidable warrior. Yet, the endless cycle of death and solitude begins to wear her down. However, one day she meets Keiji, who says, “When you die, I return, too…” Together, they begin to carve out a new future together. Featuring the voices of Ai Mikami & Natsuki Hanae as Rita & Keiji, plus Kana Hanazawa, Hiccorohee, and mo-junior high school. It’s such a colorful, spunky, unique anime version of the story. A must watch for sci-fi geeks! Enjoy.

Slow Horses

No spy drama better blends suspense with wry and even slapstick humor than this adaptation of Mick Herron’s terrific novels about the disgraced spies who occupy Slough House. As Season 5 passes the midway point, the “slow horses” are in full gallop as they pair off to try to avert what they will believe will be an assassination attempt at one or both competing rallies for London’s mayoral race. Elsewhere, their decrepit yet cunning boss Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman) continues to stay one step ahead of the MI5 officers seeking the femme fatale who snared Slough House techie Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung) in her web.

Elio

Elio

For centuries, people have called out to the universe looking for answers. In this fun-filled, action-packed feature film from Disney and Pixar, the universe calls back! The cosmic misadventure introduces Elio, a space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession. So, when he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide, Elio’s all in for the epic undertaking. Mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, Elio must form new bonds with eccentric alien life-forms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be.

Nick Gehlfuss as Dr. Will Halstead, Torrey DeVitto as Dr. Natalie Manning in 'Chicago Med' Season 11 Episode 3

George Burns Jr / NBC

Chicago Med

Seems like old times when original cast member Torrey DeVitto returns to Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, though not under the best of circumstances — because Dr. Natalie Manning is rushing to be with her son Owen (Frankie DeMaio), who was shot while visiting Chicago from Seattle with his stepdad Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss). Which means there’s little time for “Manstead” shippers to rejoice over news that she’s carrying their child when her firstborn’s life is in jeopardy. In other cases, Ripley (Luke Mitchell) teams with Charles (Oliver Platt) to treat a patient who can’t remember who he is.

Murdaugh Death in the Family

Hulu

Murdaugh: Death in the Family

The stuff of many a Dateline and true-crime podcast, the tragic saga of the scandalous Murdaugh family of South Carolina now gets the deluxe docudrama treatment, with the very busy Jason Clarke (currently rounding up bad guys on Apple TV’s The Last Frontier) starring as wealthy but embattled lawyer Alex Murdaugh, with Oscar and Emmy winner Patricia Arquette as his unlucky wife, Maggie. The sordid eight-part story, previously depicted in a 2023 Lifetime drama, begins with the double murder of Maggie and son Paul (Johnny Berchtold) in 2021, then reaches back three years to an earlier scandal when Paul was implicated in a fatal boat crash. Brittany Snow costars as reporter Mandy Matney (who’s also an executive producer), whose work on the case is the basis for this eight-part treatment. Launches with three episodes.

Netflix

Six Kings Slam

Six of the world’s most prominent men’s tennis stars gather at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the second annual exhibition match, which could result in a rematch of last year’s contest that pitted the two top-ranked players, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, in a thrilling final. Sinner won that contest, while Alcaraz is hoping for a repeat of his recent U.S. Open victory against Sinner. In the first round, No. 3-ranked Alexander Zverev plays No. 4 Taylor Fritz, then Sinner takes on No. 24-ranked Stefanos Tsitsipas (a late substitution for an injured Jack Draper). The winners will play against Alcaraz and No. 3-ranked Novak Djokovic on Thursday, with a grand final scheduled for Saturday.

Nicole Beharie in 'The Morning Show' Season 4

Apple TV+

The Morning Show

In a powerful episode for the luminous Nicole Beharie, her character of decorated Olympic track star-turned-morning show host Chris Turner is dragged into a painful media spotlight when online rumors challenge her sports legacy. Her greatest ally appears to be Mia (Karen Pittman), the disgruntled TMS producer who returns to UBN on a confrontational mission. Also heading for a reckoning: Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) and former network CEO Cory (Billy Crudup), whose budding romance cloaks her investigation into a dark chapter of the network’s past.

“I keep remembering things that are gone… Makes me feel like there are things we’ve lost that I’ll never remember…” Bleecker Street has revealed the wonderful official trailer for a film titled Rebuilding, one of the best films from the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. It’s the second feature set in Colorado from filmmaker Max Walker-Silverman – who also made A Love Song in 2022 (trailer here). After wildfires take his ranch, a cowboy named Dusty winds up in a FEMA camp, finding community with others who lost homes, including his daughter and ex-wife. A gently humanist story of the American West. Filmed against the rapturous backdrop of southern Colorado, Rebuilding is a ruminative, moving portrait of resilience and human connection in the wake of loss. This wholesome film stars Josh O’Connor as Dusty, Meghann Fahy, Amy Madigan, Kali Reis, Lily LaTorre, Nancy Morlan, & Zeilyanna Martinez. This is such a gem – I hope audiences take the time to watch and enjoy and end up moved by this excellent little indie flick.

Rebuilding follows Dusty (Josh O’Connor), a reserved, divorced father whose ranch has burned down in a devastating wildfire. Now living in a trailer community on a government-run campsite, Dusty finds solace with his new neighbors who have also lost everything, quietly reassembles his life, and starts reconnecting with his ex-wife Ruby (Meghann Fahy) and young daughter Callie-Rose (Lily LaTorre). A moving portrait of resilience and human connection in the wake of loss. Rebuilding is directed by American indie filmmaker Max Walker-Silverman, his second feature after the acclaimed Colorado movie A Love Song previously, plus a few shorts. Produced by Jesse Hope, Dan Janvey, Paul Mezey. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Bleecker debuts Rebuilding in select US theaters on November 14th, 2025, expanding nationwide the next week on November 21st. Highly recommend this. Any good?

Battlefield 6 maps: Full list of maps in the game

by jummy84 October 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Here’s a full list of the maps in Battlefield 6, as well as all the DLC ones being added throughout the game’s first season of post-launch content.

How many maps are in Battlefield 6?

At launch, there are nine maps in Battlefield 6, but that doesn’t tell the whole story.

Depending on your chosen mode, you might fight in a smaller section of one map, or across the entire thing, and the maps themselves will change throughout a battle.

Of course, more maps will follow in future (more on that in a moment). For now, though, read on for the full list!

All Battlefield 6 maps so far

Here’s the full list, including the global location of each.

Empire State

Set in New York, the tight streets of Brooklyn make this map infantry-only but with plenty of verticality across rooftops and buildings.

Manhattan Bridge

Another map in New York, this one allows vehicles like tanks, and even helicopters for air support.

New Sobek City

The first of two maps in Egypt, this one on the outskirts of Cairo packs everything you could want from a Battlefield map, with sniper spots, helicopters, tanks, and plenty of opportunities for heroism.

Siege of Cairo

With more densely packed city streets and a focus on infantry and tanks, Siege of Cairo is an early favourite for players looking to exercise the tactical part of their brains.

Iberian Offensive

The first of two maps in Gibraltar, which plays a big part in the campaign, Iberian Offensive sees infantry and tanks take centre stage.

Saints Quarter

Infantry-only and full of sniper spots and tight city streets, Saints Quarter is also set in Gibraltar and is ideal for racking up close-quarters kills.

Liberation Peak

This mountainous map has more open sight lines, but with plenty of hiding spots for cunning ambushes.

Mirak Valley

Set in Tajikistan, Mirak Valley is the largest map in the game so far and gives you access to fighter jets, helicopters, tanks, and more.

Operation Firestorm

This classic from Battlefield 3 has never looked better, and lets you use every vehicle type in the game to capture key points of the refinery.

All confirmed Battlefield 6 DLC maps to come

Battlefield 6. EA

Battlefield 6’s first season of post-launch content is split into three chunks, with the first arriving a matter of weeks after launch.

Dubbed Rogue Ops, it’ll introduce the Blackwell Fields map set in the California badlands.

California Resistance, the second update, will introduce Eastwood, a suburban map with a huge golf course.

Winter Offensive, which arrives in December, won’t add a new map but will bring an icy revamp to Empire State.

Full Trailer for Chloe Zhao’s ‘Hamnet’ with Jessie Buckley & Paul Mescal

“What shall I do?” “Keep your heart open…” Focus Features has revealed the full offiical trailer for the film Hamnet, one of the most acclaimed films of the year so far. Hamnet is the latest feature directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, following her work on Marvel’s Eternals, this is her getting back to making something more meaningful and intimate. Hamnet tells the powerful story of love and loss that inspired the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet. Jessie Buckley stars as Agnes Shakespeare, Paul Mescal as William Shakespeare set in the 16th century. It’s telling the story of Agnes – the wife of William Shakespeare – as she struggles to come to terms with the loss of her only son, Hamnet. A human and heart-stopping story as the backdrop to the creation of Shakespeare’s most famous play, Hamlet. TIFF describes it as a look at how The Bard was not a cold genius, he was “a real man whose literary prowess was irrevocably impacted by his domestic life.” The full cast includes Joe Alwyn, Emily Watson, Jacobi Jupe, Jack Shalloo, David Wilmot. With a wonderful score by Max Richter. This has been getting nothing but exceptional reviews since premiering at Telluride & TIFF, and will play in theaters starting November / December. Have a look.

Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for Chloé Zhao’s film Hamnet, from Focus Features’ YouTube:

You can rewatch the initial teaser trailer for Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet film right here for the first look again.

Intro via TIFF: “In William Shakespeare’s day, the names Hamlet & Hamnet were interchangeable. The newest film by Chloé Zhao uses that context as the basis for a tender exploration of Shakespeare’s domestic life, connecting a family tragedy to one of his most famous works. Maybe we can better understand Hamlet, Zhao suggests, if we consider that it was developed while the most famous writer in the Western canon was mourning the death of his 11-year-old son, Hamnet. Based on the novel by Maggie O’Farrell, Hamnet’s main character isn’t The Bard — played here by an impressive Paul Mescal — or even the child who gives the film its name. Hamnet belongs to Agnes – Shakespeare’s thoughtful wife, played by an enthralling Jessie Buckley, who bathes the film in her warmth. Many historical accounts preface reports of Hamnet’s death with statistics about how common child mortality was in the 16th century, as though it barely made an impact. Hamnet rejects that premise, showing Shakespeare not as a distant, untouchable genius but as a real man whose literary prowess was irrevocably impacted by his domestic [family] life.“

Hamnet is directed by the Oscar-winning Chinese filmmaker Chloé Zhao, director of the films Songs My Brothers Taught Me, The Rider, Nomadland, and Marvel’s Eternals previously. The screenplay is written by Maggie O’Farrell and Chloe Zhao; adapted from Maggie O’Farrell’s book also titled “Hamnet”. Produced by Liza Marshall, Pippa Harris, Nicolas Gonda, Sam Mendes, Steven Spielberg. This is premiering at the 2025 Telluride & Toronto Film Festivals this fall. Focus Features will then debut Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet film in select US theaters starting November 27th, 2025, on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, later this year before a wide expansion in more theaters coming up in December during awards season. “Losing my job is not my choice!” Neon has reveled the main official US trailer for the terrific dark comedy titled No Other Choice from masterful Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook, his latest entertaining extra dark creation since making Decision to Leave back in 2022 (one of my faves). No Other Choice is the title of his new one, which is based on the 1997 novel called “The Ax” written by Donald Westlake. Fully reinvented into a Korean fable of a man who loses his job and doesn’t know what to do. A fresh murderous tale from one of the great Korean masters of dark & depraved thrills! Here’s the intro to this sneaky setup: After being laid off and unemployed for several years, a man devises a unique plan to finally secure a new job: eliminate his competition. This stars Lee Byung-hun as Man-soo, with Son Ye-jin, Yeom Hye-ran, Park Hee-soon, Yoo Yeon-seok, and Cha Seung-won. This premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival and it also played at TIFF & NYFF, earning rave reviews from some critics, although I’m a bit more mixed on this one. Still – this is absolutely one Korean film that is entirely worth watching when it opens at the end of the year.

Here’s the official US trailer (+ Korean posters) for Park Chan-wook’s film No Other Choice, via YouTube:

Park Chan-wook’s new film No Other Choice is based on the 1997 novel “The Ax” from Donald Westlake. The story follows a man named Man-soo (Lee Byung-hun) who is abruptly laid off by the paper company where he worked tirelessly for many years. He grows increasingly desperate in his hunt for new work, and eventually he comes to a certain decision about how to handle the competition in the community. No Other Choice is directed by master Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook, director of many films including Joint Security Area, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, Lady Vengeance, I’m a Cyborg But That’s OK, Thirst, Stoker, The Handmaiden, and Decision to Leave previously, and also the series “The Little Drummer Girl” and “The Sympathizer” most recently. The screenplay is also written by Park Chan-wook, Lee Kyoung-mi, Jahye Lee, and Don McKellar. Based on the book “The Ax” written by Donald E. Westlake. Produced by Park Chan-wook. This first premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival and also played at TIFF & NYFF; it opened in Korean cinemas in September. Neon releases Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice film in select US theaters on December 25th, 2025, on Christmas Day, later this year – wide in January. Want to watch?
