New US Trailer for ‘Plastic Guns’ A Funky French Crime Comedy Film

“There’s a fine line between love and hate. A very fine line.” Dark Star Pictures has unveiled the official US trailer for the French crime comedy film called Plastic Guns, which originally premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival last year in the Directors’ Fortnight sidebar there. It’s finally getting released in the US this year, after already opening in French cinemas more than a year ago. Inspired by two controversial cases in French criminal history, this searing tragi-comedy exposes the abuses the police can commit in their pursuit of notorious criminals. A Frenchman traveling in Denmark is arrested, accused of being a multiple murderer on the run named Paul Bernardin. Although he maintains his innocence, two rookie detectives are convinced that he’s guilty. Meanwhile, in Argentina, another Frenchman celebrates his wedding; he is the same age and has a very mysterious past. The film stars Delphine Baril, Charlotte Laemmel, Laurent Stocker, Gaëtan Peau, and Anthony Paliotti. One review states: “Plastic Guns is one of those movies that require complicity, giving into delirium and not asking for too much coherence, plausibility, or depth.” Ha… If you’re a fan of oddball, peculiar, off-beat French comedies – this is a good one to seek out and enjoy.

Here’s the official US trailer (+ poster) for Jean-Christophe Meurisse’s film Plastic Guns, from YouTube:

Michel Uzès (Gaëtan Peau), a man in his forties, is arrested during his trip to Denmark. He is suspected by the police to be Paul Bernardin, a wanted murderer accused of killing his wife and three children a few years ago. While Uzès maintains that he is innocent, two amateur detectives – Léa and Christine, set out to conduct their own investigation. They know the whole affair inside out and feel certain that he is the wanted murderer. Meanwhile, in Argentina, a Frenchman in his forties with a mysterious past celebrates his wedding with his pretty, young fiancée… Plastic Guns, originally known as Les Pistolets en Plastique in French, is directed by French genre filmmaker Jean-Christophe Meurisse, director of the films One of Us, Apnée, and Bloody Oranges previously. The screenplay is written by Jean-Christophe Meurisse, collab with Amélie Philippe. Produced by Marine Bergere, Antoine Blesson, Romain Daubeach, Nicolas Descalles. This initially premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in the Directors’ Fortnight last year. Dark Star Pics will debut Meurisse’s Plastic Guns in select US theaters + on VOD this fall. Inside the French Farmhouse-Meets-California Beach Shack Home of the Olive Ateliers Founders

There were many charming things about the house (front porch, wood-burning fireplace). There were also many not-so-charming things (veneer wood, spotty landscaping). So they got to work. They repainted the walls but didn’t mask all the old chips, which Kendall argues gives the house character: “People might’ve dinged their surfboard as they’re coming through,” she says, waving her hands. “We want it to feel like it’s in California.” They raised the ceiling, replaced the floors, and sourced furniture from anywhere and everywhere—from Indonesia to Greece, France to Facebook Marketplace. And slowly but surely, they made the home their own.

Ben and Kendall designed their own outdoor furniture. They found the cabinent, meanwhile, on Facebook marketplace.

“In my mind, it’s part French maison, but then also a little beach shack,” Kendall says of her home as I sit at her weathered wood dining table. She’s made breakfast: yogurt and granola, cold brew coffee with oat milk, fresh strawberries and croissants from Gjelina. Everything goes right on the wood. Kendall, I soon learn, is very anti-coaster: “We don’t put coasters down because I want to be able to see who’s been here before. And the table wants to remember the people that it’s helped share conversations. So the more rings, the better,” she says.

French biochemist reveals how movement helps balance glucose spikes after meals, shares 4 tips: ‘Household chores like…’

Sitting down and relaxing immediately after meals can spike glucose levels. Instead, Jesse Inchauspé recommends 4 daily activities to help balance spikes.

Glucose-rich meals can cause sharp spikes in blood sugar, leaving the body struggling to bring levels back to balance. While many people instinctively sit down or relax after eating, this habit can actually worsen the problem. Simple physical movement – even light daily chores – can make a significant difference in curbing these spikes and supporting healthier glucose control.

Jesse recommends performing daily household chores like cleaning the house after meals to balance blood glucose spikes.(Unsplash)

Jessie Inchauspé, a French biochemist, NYT bestselling author, and health activist popularly known as the Glucose Goddess on social media, highlights why moving after glucose-rich meals is key to balancing out blood sugar spikes. In an Instagram video posted on October 2, she explains how physical activity impacts blood glucose levels, recommending simple movements – even everyday household chores – that can help lower both glucose and insulin levels.

Why moving helps balance glucose spikes

According to Jesse, your muscles contract due to movement, and this helps them absorb glucose faster. She explains, “When your muscles contract, for example, if you’re walking, you’re squatting, you’re cleaning your apartment, after you eat something high in glucose, your muscles will uptake the glucose from that meal without needing insulin.” She stresses that it is important to keep your insulin levels low in order to prevent spikes. “So, just 10 minutes of movement after a meal can help you reduce your glucose spike of the meal without increasing your insulin levels, which is two birds, one stone,” Jesse adds.

Recommended movements

Glucose and insulin spikes can be avoided by performing simple movements, and even daily household chores can help. Besides chores, activities like walking and performing air squats are effective in lowering glucose spikes. Jesse recommends the following:

  • Walking for 10 minutes.
  • Calf raises (also known as soleus push-ups).
  • Household chores like vacuuming, folding laundry, washing dishes, cleaning the bathroom.
  • Air squats.

Jean Dujardin in ‘The Incredible Shrinking Man’ French Remake Trailer

by Alex Billington

“Our life is fleeting… Tiny – that’s what we are.” Universal France has revealed two full official trailers for a brand new modern remake of the classic story about The Incredible Shrinking Man. From director Jan Kounen, this new French movie is called L’homme qui rétrécit (or just The Shrinking Man as there’s no other English title yet). Jean Dujardin stars in this remake / re-adaptation of the Richard Matheson novel, which is directed by French filmmaker Jan Kounen, and will be released in France this October. It’s premiering first at the 2025 Sitges Film Festival in October – that’s how I found out about this one, since it has barely been mentioned over in the US so far. A shipbuilder named Paul living on the coast inexplicably begins to shrink, then gets trapped in his own basement, only once inch (a few cm) tall. He must fight for survival in now-hostile ordinary household environment. “The Shrinking Man is both a coming-of-age story and an adventure film.” Also starring Marie-Josée Croze and Daphné Richard. And with a new score by Alexandre Desplat. This looks damn good! Not as cheesy or as ridiculous as I was expecting. Of course, once he gets small, he battles his own cat and a very scary looking realistic spider. This looks terrifying! I’m definitely curious to check it out – I hope it’ll also play in the US not long after the French opening this fall.

Here’s two new French trailers for Jan Kounen’s movie The Incredible Shrinking Man, from YouTube:

The Incredible Shrinking Man Trailer

The Incredible Shrinking Man Poster

The Shrinking Man, a new adaptation of the cult novel, follows Paul, an ordinary man who divides his time between his shipbuilding business, his wife Elise, and their daughter Mia. During a trip out to sea, he encounters a strange & unexplained meteorological phenomenon. From then on, Paul begins to shrink inexorably, with science unable to explain why. When, by accident, he finds himself trapped in his own basement, measuring only a few centimeters tall, he must fight to survive in this ordinary environment that has become hostile. Paul is confronted with himself, his life force, the force that drives him to continue living & move forward toward the mystery. The Incredible Shrinking Man, or The Shrinking Man also known as L’homme qui rétrécit in French, is directed by Dutch-French filmmaker Jan Kounen, of many movies including The Broadsword, Soft, Het Virus, Gisele Kerozene, Vibroboy, Dobermann, Blueberry, 99 Frances, Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky, Vape Wave, Mère Océan, My Cousin previously. The screenplay is by Christophe Deslandes & Jan Kounen; based on Richard Matheson’s book published in 1956. Produced by Alain Goldman & Patrick Wachsberger. This is premiering at the 2025 Sitges Film Festival. It opens first in French cinemas starting on October 22nd, 2025. No US date is set yet – stay tuned. Thoughts? Intrigued?

At just $10, this editor-loved bottle is the most budget-friendly high performer from the sale.

Crème De La Mer Moisturizing Cream

La Mer

Crème de La Mer Moisturizing Cream

There’s a reason that La Mer’s Crème de La Mer is a favorite among editors and tastemakers: It really works. Born of a skin-healing Miracle Broth that contains sea kelp, vitamins, and minerals, this moisturizer promotes butter-soft skin, tightened pores, and minimized fine lines for your smoothest complexion yet.

Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover for Sensitive Skin

Lancôme

Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover

We all know makeup-removing wipes aren’t the best for your skin, so consider a skin-loving solution for your stubborn waterproof mascara instead. This award-winning product effectively erases makeup with oil and water phases to break down the pigments before washing them away.

Botanical Moisturizer With Cucumber

Sisley-Paris

Botanical Moisturizer With Cucumber

If there’s a French skincare brand worth adding to your collection, editors will tell you it’s Sisley-Paris. This high-end makeup, skincare, and haircare brand makes some of the most prestigious beauty products on the market (its price tags are a great indicator), yet staples like the daily-use Botanical Moisturizer are extremely worth it. Universally safe, glow boosting, and extra softening, this moisturizer is one you can always depend on for spa-like skin.

L'eau De Parfum Intense Set $220 Value

Now, you can nab a full size, body lotion, and travel version for just $126. (The set is valued at $220.)

Prisme Libre Ultra-Blurring & Color-Correcting Pressed Powder

Givenchy

Color correctors may sound intimidating, but Givenchy makes the task doable with its luxe skin-perfecting quads. Each compact houses four different powder pigments that neutralize discoloration and redness while minimizing the appearance of pores.

Acne Studios Par Frédéric Malle Eau De Parfum

Acne Studios Par Frédéric Malle

Eau de Parfum

Fashion people, you’ll want to add this one to your cart. This scent was the result of a collaboration between streetwear-chic ready-to-wear brand ACNE Studios and Frédéric Malle, and right now, you can nab the vibey, neoclassical scent for just $85.

Double Wear Stay-In-Place Liquid Makeup Foundation

Estée Lauder

Double Wear Stay-in-Place Liquid Makeup Foundation

Finding a great foundation is hard, so when you do, you buy it in droves—especially when it’s on sale. We named this formula the best matte foundation for large pores because of its skin-blurring results, featherlight texture, and shine-controlled comfort.

Floral Toning Lotion

Sisley-Paris

Floral Toning Lotion

Toners are often overlooked in the skincare department, but they’re one of the biggest players when it comes to healthy, glowing skin. Though pricey, this formula proves its worth by being gentle enough for dry and sensitive skin types and thoroughly cleansing the skin without irritating it.

Ecological Compound Advanced Formula

Sisley-Paris

Ecological Compound Advanced Formula

I started with the least expensive of the bunch, so it’s only fair that I end on the most expensive. This Sisley-Paris moisturizing elixir is a day and night formula that works hard to balance the skin’s microbiome, defend the dermis from environmental pollutants and free radicals, and boost that “lit from within” glow—all for the discounted price of $170.

13 Fashion Favorites From French Editor Eugénie Trochu

by jummy84 September 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Eugénie Trochu is a Who What Wear Editor in Residence known for her transformative work at Vogue France; her Substack newsletter, where she documents and shares new trends, her no-nonsense approach to fashion and style, plus other musings; and she’s working on her upcoming first book that explores fashion as a space of memory, projection, and reinvention.

I’ve been in fashion for 15 years. I’ve watched trends rise and fall, silhouettes get reinvented, and countless “returns” arrive with their carefully packaged storylines: the “empowered” pencil skirt, the “perfectly cut” capri pants, the “next-generation” ballet flat, the “reinvented” trench coat. I’ve sat through shows that were choreographed down to the last detail. I’ve written reviews of collections—some sublime, others questionable. I’ve interviewed obsessive designers and exhausted stylists. I’ve learned how to read what clothes are saying, especially when no one is really looking anymore.

And yet, every morning when I open my closet, I come back to a wardrobe that barely shifts. Not a rigid uniform but a loose framework. Not a costume but a vocabulary. These are pieces that have stayed with me, year after year.

There’s the black Levi’s 501s, the Prada blazer, the Ralph Lauren men’s shirt I never returned, the oversize denim overshirt that rescues me from hesitation. There are white socks that peek out, gold family jewelry, vintage rock tees I bought more for what they evoke than what they display.

Some things I’ve worn to newsrooms, shoots, weekends à la mer, or meetings where I felt slightly out of focus. Others I wear to write, to walk, to think, to keep quiet. What I wear every day was never meant for photos. But it holds me. Grounds me. Knows me. So maybe it’s time to talk about it.

In the end, my wardrobe isn’t a strategy. It’s a selection. A discipline. A form of intimacy. I don’t dress to hold an image. I dress to hold a day, an idea, an intention. And everything I wear—my black jeans, scuffed ballet flats, sturdy blazer, rock T-shirts, inherited gold jewelry—serves exactly that: to carry me through without disguising me. There’s nothing spectacular about what I wear. But everything is precise. Everything is chosen. And maybe that’s what real luxury is, after all: knowing exactly what you love to wear, and why.

The Black Levi’s 501s (or Low-Rise Jeans on Sarcastic Days)

The black 501 is my foundation—worn through at the right knee, a little tight at the waist but still sharp. I’ve worn it with a white shirt to a Dior dinner and with a shapeless sweatshirt during the close of a September issue. The low-rise version is from the early 2000s (thank you, Vinted) but without today’s Y2K hysteria. I mean actual low-rise jeans: slightly loose, just enough hip to remind you the body exists, not enough to make it a statement. I pair them with a more intricate top and a leather jacket—Helmut Lang fall 1999 energy.

The Not-Too-Perfect White Tee and the Striped Men’s Shirt

French writer, editor, and creative Eugenie Trochu poses in a penthouse space in Paris wearing a plaid button-down shirt, white T-shirt, lace-front jeans, and brown suede moto boots

I have dozens: Uniqlo, Petit Bateau, Hanes, a couple of unraveling Margielas, and one “vintage” shirt that’s just my dad’s. It has to be soft, washed-out, almost pale. Too new, and it looks suspicious. I tuck it into jeans, and roll the sleeves. That’s it. The striped men’s shirt is different. Thin stripes, slightly worn collar—mine’s Ralph Lauren. I stole it from an ex who wore it too well. Now I wear it better. Half-buttoned, half-untucked, paired with patent kitten heels so it says “I’m working” when I’m really just out buying Parmesan.

The Denim Jacket (or Overshirt on Sleepless Days)

French writer, editor, and creative Eugenie Trochu poses in Marseille, France wearing a black and white printed mini dress, a denim shirt, ankle bow socks, and cap-toe Mary Jane flats

A classic Levi’s jacket, found at a flea market in Los Angeles in 2011, softened by time. I wear it like a structured comfort blanket. On tired mornings, I reach for the oversize denim overshirt: longer, looser, more enveloping. I throw it over anything—a dress, a tee, an existential crisis. It’s my “I’m here, but don’t ask too much of me” piece. It does what a The Row trench does, without the offshore account.
