Sabrina Carpenter is set to play host as well as musical guest during this week’s Saturday Night Live on Saturday (Oct. 18). Season 51 kicked things off with Bad Bunny earlier this month, but now the Man’s Best Friend singer is bringing her comedic chops and pop ballets to the iconic Studio 8H stage once again. After sharing a hilarious promo video of her channeling Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw walking through 30 Rock, expect some can’t miss laughs from the pop singer’s hosting debut tonight airing on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT.

14 Early Free People Black Friday Sale Deals Worth Shopping Before November 2025

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

As someone who’s worn the brand for over a decade, I never skip the Free People Black Friday sale. I’ve long written about my love of Free People’s dreamy, drapey aesthetic that feels effortlessly cool. My favorite barrel-leg jeans are an original, as are several of my oversized jackets, flowy dresses, and yoga leggings. The company’s boho vibes manage to hit key fashion trends with quality that ensures its pieces last through the seasons.

Last year, Free People’s Cyber Week sale brought an additional 40% off sale styles, which meant clothing deals of up to 75% off original prices—but I’m far too impatient to wait until November 28 to refresh my fall wardrobe, especially with so many great markdowns already live. Below, I’ve rounded up the early Free People Black Friday sale finds worth shopping now—before the best sizes and colors disappear.

Katie Porter Criticism Is Descending Into a Misogynistic Free For All

by jummy84 October 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Katie Porter isn’t necessarily above criticism, and it’s fair to say maybe she could have done things better in the recent CBS interview, which is currently going viral. I do not condone or defend Porter snapping at her staff to, “get out of [her] fucking shot.” But I am asking why nobody seems to have a normal, proportional response to it. Pundits across the board have agreed that these videos are career-enders in and of themselves. Meanwhile, the commentariat at large has taken them as license to indulge in unchecked, gleeful misogyny.

Random commenters on Bluesky and X have now begun opining that they’ve always has issues with Porter. Some cited her “arrogant” attitude and her appearance. Some claimed she always seemed too “angry” to be trusted. Some called her “kooky.” Even her whiteboard wasn’t immune.

Personally, I think it’s simply that the patriarchy stew we’ve all been swimming in for our entire lives has gotten thicker without us realizing it.

In basic terms, here’s what happened. Porter, who is running for governor of California, sat for an interview with CBS’s Julie Watts. Watts pressed Porter on how she would reach out to Republican voters, who she will need in order to win. Porter scoffed that she doesn’t need Republicans, who make up around 40% of the electorate, to win the governorship. Watts pressed further, Porter grew visibly frustrated, and finally Porter accused Watts of being unnecessarily combative.

Impact Data & Events Launches; Announces FREE #iVoted NYC Concert at Irving Plaza w/ Lay Bankz, Connie Diiamond, and More

by jummy84 October 7, 2025
written by jummy84

October 6th, 2025 – Music industry veteran Emily White and a deeply experienced team of industry leaders have announced the expansion of their non-profit work to launch Impact Data & Events. The non-partisan group is born out of 2018’s #iVoted, 2020’s record-breaking #iVoted Festival, 2022’s #iVoted Sweepstakes, and last year’s production of 18 #iVoted Concerts that MIT has shown increases voter turnout by over 7%.

Impact Data & Events has created a data-model in partnership with Johns Hopkins University’s SNF Agora Institute that determines the top trending talent in any location with the most unregistered and non-voting fans. The org has also built a tool that shows where any talent can have the largest impact on elections to strategically guide in-person appearances and digital campaigns. These tools encompass talent not limited to music, entertainment, sports, influencers, and more.

Says White, “#iVoted isn’t going anywhere and lives under the larger entity of Impact Data & Events. We’re excited to be announcing a free #iVoted NYC Concert for election night, November 4th, at Irving Plaza with incredible artists booked from our Johns Hopkins’ data. But we’ve since learned that the largest impact on turnout is made by registering the most new voters, which is exactly what our data shows. There are tens of thousands of artists in our data. Expanding our non-profit work allows us to run and partner with strategic campaigns to activate key talent, as well as the millions of artists that are releasing music, to ensure the music industry in particular is maximizing voter turnout at scale. Impact Data & Events allows us to produce #iVoted Concerts, as well as free shows that support the climate, mental health initiatives, cancel student / medical debt, and more. At the same time, we’re fortunate to be working with arguably the leading digital marketing visionary in the industry, Bryan Calhoun. Bryan and I realized we can reach the talent in our data via targeted digital campaigns that are precise to each location, while also scaling this work to make certain all artists are engaged for maximum impact.”

Impact Data & Events offers its groundbreaking data tools to all non-profits looking to increase civic impact and beyond. They similarly create custom data plans and strategies tailored to each partner and goal. The org is currently piloting the first ever custom artist branded direct to fan voter registration tool for this Fall’s historic New York City mayoral election by targeting the top trending artists in and from NYC, per Chartmetric, while running strategic marketing campaigns to maximize reach and impact.

This all culminates in a November 4th #iVoted NYC Concert in the heart of Manhattan at Irving Plaza on election night featuring performances by Lay Bankz, Connie Diiamond, JayR Rashiq, DJ Nick Seale, with HOT 97’s Miabelle hosting, and more. RSVP HERE by checking your voter registration with HeadCount or by submitting a selfie from outside of your polling place /  at home with a blank and unmarked ballot. Ineligible voters also have free options to RSVP to ensure all are welcome.

Adds White, “Our core will always be producing free, data-booked impact concerts that the public enters by taking tangible action while simultaneously increasing civic participation. But expanding our digital offerings with our data model and decades of music industry experience is a natural evolution in an era where the most pressing issues of our time are at our fingertips at what feels like every moment. Impact Data & Events is excited to unite the industry and our partners to maximize voter turnout and solve issues that affect our daily lives and society at large.”

The non-profit was originally founded by Emily White, Mike Luba, and Pat Sansone of Wilco, with board members including Warped Tour Founder Kevin Lyman, John Boyle, Amaechi Uzoigwe, Steve Ferguson, Dr. Jonathan Gruber, Kathryn Frazier, Dana Meyerson, Jay Byrd, Lawrence Peryer, Evangeline Elder, Joyce Dollinger, and more.

ABOUT IMPACT DATA & EVENTS

Impact Data & Events produces free, data-booked, world-class concerts the public takes tangible action to attend. The non-partisan non-profit has built a data model with Johns Hopkins University’s SNF Agora Institute identifying the top trending talent in any location on Google Maps with the most non-voting and unregistered fans. The 501(c)3 org creates data solutions while also providing custom tailored plans and execution for cutting edge nonprofits. Impact Data & Events additionally designs targeted digital campaigns specific to each location for nonprofit partners looking to amplify, activate, and execute their work and messaging with precision.

Watch Sam Smith Perform ‘Ain’t No Sunshine,’ ‘To Be Free’ on ‘Colbert’

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

The musician will kick off their To Be Free residency at New York City’s Warsaw this month

Sam Smith appeared on The Late Show to showcase two songs, a cover Bill Withers 1971 classic, “Ain’t No Sunshine” and their own single “To Be Free.” Smith performed his rendition of “Ain’t No Sunshine” with the help of two guitarists, giving the iconic song a stripped down approach.

For the emotional “To Be Free,” which Smith dropped over the summer, Smith was joined by a sole musician on stage and illuminated from behind. A chorus of backup singers then brought in their voices to accompany them.

Smith released “To Be Free” in July after temporarily shelving the song, written during the making of their fourth studio album, Gloria. Smith didn’t believe it was a fit for the record, but wanted to share it with fans later. It features TwoCity Chorus, a 22-piece choir helmed by Ant Clemons and Brandon Pain.

Trending Stories

“It was created during a time in my life where I became free within myself,” Smith said in a statement. “I’ve never had a recording experience like I did making this song. It’s one vocal and guitar take from start to finish—one live performance of me and my friend Simon Aldred in a pure state of music and expression.”

The music video for “To Be Free” was filmed at Warsaw, one of Brooklyn’s oldest venues. In October, Smith will spend 12 nights performing in the same space for the To Be Free: New York City residency. The run of live shows kicks off on Oct. 8 and extends through Oct. 31. Smith will then take the residency to the Castro Theatre in San Francisco for a run of eight shows next February.

How To Claim Free Tickets To The 2026 FIFA World Cup

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

So, here’s what I’ve learned: The FIFA World Cup 26TM is a really big deal, because not only will it be the largest, with 48 participating teams, but it’s heading stateside. For the first time ever, the World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. That means, over the course of a month (from June 11 to July 19, 2026), the tournament will span North America, kicking off in Mexico City, with matches being played in major cities, like Los Angeles, Miami, and Toronto, before culminating in the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Variety may receive an affiliate commission.

Although it’s been two years since the season one finale of “Gen V” back in Sept. 2023, “The Boys” spinoff superhero series is back for season two.

Starting on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT, “Gen V” returns on Prime Video for subscribers only. Season two has eight episodes, in total.

Not a member? Sign up for a 30-day free trial to take advantage of all that Amazon Prime has to offer, including access to Prime Video; fast same-, next-, or two-day free shipping; discounts at Whole Foods Market, access to exclusive shopping events — like Prime Day and Black Friday — and more.

After the trial is up, you can either cancel the streaming service altogether, or you can keep watching for $8.99/month for just the Prime Video plan. But, if you want all the perks that come with Amazon Prime, it goes for $14.99/month, or $139.99/year — a nearly 25% savings.

Along with “Gen V,” Prime Video also has access to hit movies like “A Working Man,” “The Accountant 2″ and “Last Breath,” plus originals like “Fallout,” “The Boys,” “Invincible,” “Daisy Jones & The Six” and more. Prime Video also offers free live sports streaming from the NFL, ONE Championship, Professional Pickleball Association Tour, UTR Pro Tennis and other events, plus live news from CBS News.

For season two, “Gen V” takes place after the events of “The Boys” season four and follows Marie (Jaz Sinclair) returning to Godolkin University for new school year with a new dean, Dean Cipher (Hamish Linklater). However, when Marie and her friends discover he’s training superheroes to be soldiers for a war between humans and “Supes,” the team must find a way to stop him before it’s too late.

The spinoff series also stars J, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Sean Patrick Thomas and others.

You can stream “Gen V” season two on Prime Video on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT. But in the meantime, watch the trailer for season two, below:

In addition, Prime Video also has “Gen V” season one, so you can catch up before you watch the new season.

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, The Hollywood Reporter may receive an affiliate commission.

The world’s best female tennis players are in Shenzhen, China this week for the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup. Originally called the Federation Cup, the international team tennis competition changed its name in 2020 in honor of activist and former World No. 1 Billie Jean King.

Eight countries qualified for this year’s event, including the U.S. and Italy, which took home the win in the 2024 finals. The 2025 Billie Jean King Cup takes place from September 16 to 21.

How to Watch the Billie Jean King Cup Finals Online Free

Viewers in the U.S. can watch the Billie Jean King Cup on TV through Tennis Channel. Don’t have cable? Grab this free trial to DirecTV Stream to watch the Billie Jean King tennis tournament online. DirecTV Stream’s free trial includes a live feed of Tennis Channel, and lets you watch the matches on your phone, laptop, tablet or TV.

Another way to watch the Billie Jean King Cup finals online for free? Use Fubo, a live TV streaming service that also includes Tennis Channel as part of its lineup. Fubo has a seven-day free trial that you can use to livestream Billie Jean King Cup tennis online for free. Fubo’s free trial includes free DVR, so you can record the women’s tennis matches to watch a replay back on-demand later.

How to Watch the Billie Jean King Cup Finals With VPN

You can also watch the Billie Jean King Cup with a virtual private network like NordVPN. Use the VPN to stream live coverage of the tournament through BBC in the UK, beIN Sports in France or CBC in Canada. Set your VPN location to the country of your choice and live stream the tennis tournament free with those international broadcasters.

NordVPN is currently offering a promotion that gets you access from just $3 a month — a 73% savings. Save more when you sign up for an annual plan.

We also like ExpressVPN, which you can use to watch Billie Jean King Cup coverage from outside the U.S. Plans to ExpressVPN start at just $3.49/month for a basic streaming package.

In addition to letting you watch Billie Jean King tennis matches online, you can use your VPN to watch TV shows, movies and other live sports from channels around the world.

2025 Billie Jean King Cup Final: Matchups, Predictions

Similar to the Davis Cup for men, the Billie Jean King Cup pits the world’s top countries together for a best-of-three rubbers format with two singles matches and one doubles match per day.

This year’s finalists are China, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Spain, Ukraine and the United States.

The U.S. holds the all-time record for wins, with 18 titles, and they are favored to win again this year, led by recent U.S. Open semifinalist Jessica Pegula. Kazakhstan and Italy are also considered contenders.
