Watch Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter Join Fred Again.. for First DJ Set in 16 Years

Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter joined Fred Again.., Phantasy Sound label head Erol Alkan, and Ed Banger Records founder Pedro Winter for a surprise B2B DJ set at Paris’ Centre Pompidou late last night (Saturday, October 25). The occasion was a 20th anniversary celebration for the French record label Because Music. For his first DJ set in 16 years, Bangalter dropped Daft Punk tracks including “Rollin’ & Scratchin’,” “Digital Love,” and “Contact,” plus “Galvanise” by the Chemical Brothers and part of Jonny Greenwood’s One Battle After Another score. Check out footage and photos of the event below.

“Thomas told me in this lift on the way down to the show that the first time he fell in love with electronic music was in this building in 1992,” Fred Again.. wrote on Instagram this morning. “He also told me hasn’t played a proper set without the mask on for 24 years. I didn’t know what to say to either of those things and I still don’t. All I said to him at the end is that I hope it isn’t 24 years til the next.”

Bangalter made his last live appearance—along with his Daft Punk counterpart Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo—during the Weeknd’s performance at the 2017 Grammy Awards. He shared the solo album Mythologies in 2023. Daft Punk joined Fortnite earlier this year, adding songs from their catalog and their iconic TB3 and GM08 helmets to the video game.

Fred Durst Honors Late Limp Bizkit Bandmate Sam Rivers

Following the sad news that Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers has passed away at age 48, frontman Fred Durst has posted a video message on his Instagram account honoring his late bandmate.

Durst began the video by talking about the vital role Rivers played in the formation of Limp Bizkit, discussing how he saw a then teenage Rivers playing with another band, and told him about his vision for Limp Bizkit.

“Sam Rivers, the legend,” began Durst. “Such a gifted and wonderful person. … There Sam was on the stage with his band, killing it on the bass. and I went, ‘Oh my gosh, this guy’s amazing.’ In my mind, you had to start with the rhythm section, the bass and the drums. … I saw Sam play, and I was blown away.”

He continued, “I went up to Sam after the show, and I sad, ‘Hey man, you’re unbelievable, and I got this idea for a band I wanna do, and I kinda threw it out there, and I told him what I wanted it to be, and he looked at me, and says, ‘Killer, I’m in. Let’s do it!’… That’s kinda how things started to come together.”

Turning to the present day, Durst talked about Limp Bizkit’s recent resurgence over the past few years, saying, “It’s so tragic that he’s not here right now, and I’ve gone through gallons and gallons of tears since yesterday, and I’m thinking, ‘Sam’s a legend.’”

He added, “Here we are just having an incredible moment, and it’s going so beautifully smooth, and Sam was just really, really happy about it. … What he’s left us behind is priceless.”

Listen to Fred Again..’s high-octane new single ‘You’re A Star’ with Amyl & The Sniffers from new USB series

Fred Again.. has released the first song from his new USB series – listen to ‘You’re A Star’, featuring Amyl & The Sniffers, below.

Last week, the London producer announced his latest run of USB releases, dubbed ‘USB002’, which will see him release 10 songs over 10 weeks, as well as play DJ sets in 10 different cities. The tracks will later be compiled into a vinyl release, which you can pre-order here.

The first to be shared is ‘You’re A Star’, which comes complete with a video that opens with the message: “Last week, I asked Amyl and her best friend to shoot a video for our song. This is what we got back.”

Listen here:

The location of each of the 10 shows in the series will only be revealed the weekend before it takes place, with the first having gone down in Glasgow’s SECC on Friday (October 3) with Yousuke Yukimatsu and HAAi.

“We’ve spent the last year or so planning how we want these shows to sound and look and feel,” he wrote on Instagram. “There is an absolutely ridiculous lineup of people joining us in different places. Genuinely like 10 of my dream raves in every way.”

Fred Again..’s first USB series resulted in ‘USB001’, released in 2022, which featured collaborations with Skrillex, Flowdan, Baby Keem and Lil Yachty and remixes from Nia Archives, HAAi and Rico Nasty.

As for Amyl & The Sniffers, they are playing a huge headline show at London’s Alexander Palace on October 25, in support of their third album ‘Cartoon Darkness’, released last year. They will be joined by Floodlights and The Menstrual Cramps.

NME spoke to them about the show at Reading 2025, with guitarist Declan Mehrtens saying: “When it’s the biggest one ever, we don’t really know what to do. Earlier this year we did Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne to 9,000 people. That was the thing. ‘Do you wanna do anything special?’ I dunno. Get a big LED screen and we could play the darts. None of us have been to a gig at Ally Pally before. We’ve played Jools Holland there, but we’ve only watched the darts there. We’re gonna hit a bullseye.

“We’re gonna give everyone a dart and they can throw it whenever they want during the show… at us.”

They have also announced a show at Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse on October 22 and you can find any remaining tickets here.

The band gave a memorable performance at the 2025 edition of Reading & Leeds, and used their raucous set on the main stage to share solidarity with Palestine, and call out Donald Trump and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

NME gave the performance a glowing four-star review and praised frontwoman Amy Taylor and co. for the intensity of their set.

“As Taylor flexes her muscles and her banter-filled, boisterous bandmates slap one another’s arses and lead chants of “OI! OI! OI! OI!”, this little pocket of joy feels weirdly like one of the few places on Earth that makes sense amid all the fuckery of the world,” it read.

“And this, pure unbridled punk pleasure, is exactly what the iconic Reading & Leeds main stage was built for – especially at this sweet pre-sunset slot.”

Watch Fred Durst confront Instagram drummer for “leaking” new Limp Bizkit song

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Limp Bizkit‘s Fred Durst has “confronted” an Instagram drummer for supposedly leaking new music from the band on social media.

On Thursday (September 4), a clip was shared to their official account that sees social media star Kristina Rybalchenko playing a beat reminiscent of the band’s ‘Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water’ era, featuring lines: “When you’re hot, you’re hot, when you’re not, you’re not.”

The whole thing, however, is soon revealed to be a marketing tactic by the band, as the Los Angeles-based drummer is then interrupted by frontman Fred Durst himself, who pops around the door and says, “Kristina, that’s our new song, it’s not out yet, how did you get that? Please don’t put it on the internet!”

It comes after the band confirmed that they were back in the studio to work on new music last year. Their last album was 2021’s ‘Still Sucks’, itself their first LP in a decade. In a three-star review, NME described it as a “lean and self-aware party-starter of a sixth album” and wrote: “‘Still Sucks’ doesn’t feel laboured or overthought and never overstays its welcome.

“Limp Bizkit aren’t out to rewrite their history or reach a new generation. They don’t care if you still think they suck – they still know how to have a good time, and won’t stop rollin’.”

Last month, Limp Bizkit headlined Reading Festival, scoring a four-star review with NME. “There is no mistaking that the energy the band harness during their hour-long set has been meticulously perfected over the years to make this the most quintessential ‘Limp Bizkit show’ possible,” wrote Liberty Dunworth.

“Their set may not have all the bells and whistles of headliners Bring Me The Horizon. But between cheeky interludes of Metallica and Pantera classics, a surprisingly heartfelt cover of The Who’s ‘Behind Blue Eyes’, and inviting a young one fan to rip through a ‘Full Nelson’ duet, this is still one of the most engaging sets of the night.

Elsewhere, Durst’s ex-wife Kseniya Beryazina put her dress from the former couple’s
wedding up for auction earlier this month.
