Do you need to drink coffee in the morning to stimulate bowel movements? Dr Salhab explains the science behind the connection.

We’ve all experienced it: that urgent need to dash to the bathroom right after your morning coffee – or the dread of drinking coffee when you’re out and about. While it might feel like a quirky coincidence, there’s actually a scientific explanation behind it.

Dr Joseph Salhab, a gastroenterologist and health content creator from Florida, specialising in digestion, liver, pancreas and nutrition, is explaining what makes you want to run to the loo after drinking coffee. In an Instagram video posted on November 8, the gastroenterologist highlights the role of coffee in stimulating bowel movements and shares three gentler alternatives that won’t leave you running to the loo.

Why does coffee make you need to poop?

Dr Salhab states, “Does coffee make you have to go poop? If it does, you’re not alone. In fact, 30 to 40 percent of people who drink coffee regularly report that coffee has to make them go to the bathroom in the morning.”

He mentions that this happens for a few reasons. He explains, “First is the caffeine content. Caffeine can stimulate movement of the colon within four minutes of ingesting it. Coffee also stimulates contraction of your gallbladder to pump digestive enzymes and bile. And this also stimulates your gastrointestinal tract to start moving.”

The gastroenterologist adds that coffee is typically served warm, and consuming warm beverages can naturally stimulate bowel movements – warm water also works the same way. He continues, “Also, the antioxidants within coffee have been shown to promote the growth of beneficial bacteria within the gut and these beneficial bacteria can also influence how often we use the restroom.”

Gentler alternatives

Dr Salhab outlines three effective ways to manage that sudden urge to run to the loo after drinking coffee.

  1. You can opt for beverages with lower caffeine content – such as green tea – or simply cut down your usual coffee intake to reduce its laxative effect.
  2. Switching to a cold brew or iced coffee also helps.
  3. If that doesn’t work, you can just switch to a decaf version, which still has plenty of antioxidants and health benefits, minus the sudden urge to rush to the bathroom.

Florida Expects Production Surge with New Stage 32 Partnership

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

There’s a recurring theme in David Fincher’s 2020 film “Mank” about Los Angeles film workers fretting that the studio bosses are going to move Hollywood to Florida. That never happened, and certainly Florida’s paltry statewide tax incentives throughout the 2020s made that seem less likely than ever. However, there are signs that things could be changing, and quickly. Consider it a prelude to Florida’s version of the sudden massive film investment in New Jersey that Paramount and Netflix have carried out by building new studios there.

That level of investment for Florida is still quite some way off, but some tracks are being laid to make it more possible. IndieWire can exclusively announce that Stage 32, the world’s largest online entertainment education program, is partnering with Film Florida to launch a statewide below-the-line certification program. The idea is to begin creating a large, ready-to-work crew base in the state that can spring into action as film and TV productions ramp up.

'Bugonia'

The training will cover key roles, including line producing, location management, post production supervision, production accounting, being an assistant director, being a production assistant, being a production coordinator, and script supervising. In-person workshops will be included as well, and industry veterans leading both online and in-person courses include post-production producer Brad Carpenter (“The Diplomat,” “Fosse/Verdon”), post-production supervisor Leslie Coverse (“Babygirl”) Shalonda Ware (senior production finance manager at Paramount), DGA assistant director Korey Pollard (“SEAL Team”), and location manager Miranda Carnessal (“Barbie,” “Killers of the Flower Moon”).

Though a statewide incentive has been nonexistent for years in Florida, local jurisdictions have offered their own incentives. Across the state, in places like St. Pete/Clearwater, Tampa, Jacksonville, and Broward County, there is a cumulative total of over $30 million in tax incentives for productions, with some allowing up to $2 million in incentives for a single production.

In addition, IndieWire has heard rumbles about the Trump administration encouraging new statewide Florida production tax incentives that could go into effect in the future. There’s no such thing as film tariffs. Supporting film production through new statewide tax incentives, though? That could work.

Tampa Bay in particular has been a magnet for some time for Lifetime and Hallmark movie productions, as well as being one of the leading destinations for shooting commercials in the entire country. Car companies love that it only costs $2,000 to shut down a key toll freeway in Tampa when it isn’t rush hour as a way to really show off their vehicles on-camera. There’s also a growing DIY spirit, with a major indie TV production of Patrick D. Smith’s multi-generational Florida Western novel “A Land Remembered” planned for a 2026 production from “The School Duel” director Todd Wiseman Jr.

But the mini-renaissance of Florida-based filmmaking in the 2010s, with “Magic Mike” and the A24 trifecta of “Spring Breakers,” “Moonlight,” and “Zola” hasn’t continued this decade.

However, if these expanded incentives come through, the Stage 32 program could mean that there’s a ready-to-go crew base in Florida for when production does ramp up again. Local crew bases did indeed spring up around production hubs in New Mexico and Atlanta, and though New Mexico is still going strong, major studio productions have started leaving Georgia en masse. Disney’s MCU films always shot in Atlanta — now they’re in London, reflecting the unfavorable financial environment for films in the U.S. altogether. (On the other hand, production seems to keep ramping up in Texas, thanks to the Taylor Sheridan-motivated tax incentives there.)

Could New Jersey and Florida really pick up the slack for California and Georgia? At the very least, a trial program for Stage 32 in Florida has succeeded so far just in the Tampa Bay region, with the collaboration and support of Film Tampa Bay commissioner Tyler Martinolich, who’s done as much as anyone to bring filmmaking to the area. That program was focused on everything involved with being a production assistant: on-set protocols, paperwork, and collaboration. Those who completed the program were entered into Stage 32’s Certification Portal to be matched with relevant productions across the state and beyond.

“Film Florida is thrilled to partner with Stage 32 to bring world-class training to our members and elevate Florida’s film industry,” said John Lux, Executive Director of Film Florida. “By providing access to Stage 32’s certification program, we’re empowering our film commissions and organizations to build a robust, skilled workforce, starting with this exciting program in Tampa Bay.”

“Stage 32 is honored to collaborate with Film Florida to strengthen Florida’s production ecosystem,” said Amanda Toney, managing director of Stage 32. “After successfully training talent for over 50 film commissions worldwide, including an impactful program with St. Pete/Clearwater, we’re excited to launch this initiative in Tampa Bay and expand opportunities for below-the-line professionals across the state with Film Florida.”

Could New Jersey and Florida really be places where major film productions are taking place all the time? Time will tell.

Rick Ross Lists Lavish $6.5 Million Florida Mansion For Sale + Features Soundproof Theater, Nine-Car Garage & More

Rick Ross is ready to cash out on one of his most luxurious properties. The Miami rapper has officially listed his stunning South Florida mansion for $6.5 million, giving fans a glimpse into his boss-level lifestyle.

Located in Southwest Ranches, Florida, the 14,000-square-foot property includes six bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms, and sits on 2.3 acres in the exclusive Landmark Ranch Estates neighborhood.

The home boasts marble floors, soaring ceilings, a private driveway, a resort-style pool, a custom bar, a soundproof theater, two offices, and even a nine-car garage. The primary suite is a showstopper, with “a custom one-of-a-kind closet, sitting area, bonus room and spa-inspired bath,” according to the listing.

Rozay bought the property from former NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire in 2021 for $3.5 million cash and made major upgrades, including a massive double-R logo driveway and a new roof. He still owns his 322-acre Georgia estate, “The Promise Land.”

Would you drop $6.5 million on Ross’ mega mansion?

Pregnant South Florida Inmate Convicted Of Murder

by jummy84 October 19, 2025

What started as a tragedy behind closed doors has now turned into a national headline — and it’s got the internet watching very closely. Daisy Link, a South Florida mother of three, was just convicted of second-degree murder in the death of her longtime partner and father of her children. But this case? It’s deeper than just the verdict. And, the story that’s been unraveling since 2022 is filled with twists, trauma, and a so-called “miracle” baby that caught everyone off guard.

Link Says She Fired To Scare, Not Kill

The fatal shooting committed by Daisy Link happened after years of what her defense described as an abusive and volatile relationship. However, jurors took less than two hours to find Link guilty in the 2022 shooting of her partner Pedro Jimenez. The trial also featured an emotional testimony — even from the couple’s 11-year-old son. He reportedly told the court that he saw his father aim a gun at his mother and pistol-whip her. Additionally, Link testified that Jimenez was under the influence and became violent after accusing her of cheating. Link claimed that she fired the gun at Jimenez to scare him off, not to kill. “It’s not like I didn’t love him,” she said on the stand. “That’s the father of my kids.”

Link’s Pregnancy Stuns The Net, Family Speaks Out

But, what really grabbed national attention was what happened after Link’s arrest. As previously reported, in 2023, she became pregnant while behind bars — and later gave birth in June 2024. The father? Another inmate, Joan DePaz. According to both, the baby was conceived through self-insemination and they’ve called it a “miracle.” Her sister, Crystal Barretto, says Link is a victim of domestic violence and is heartbroken over the verdict, urging the judge to consider her past and her children during sentencing. “The fight is not over,” she said, as Link’s legal team prepares to appeal.

Guilty Verdict In—But This Case Isn’t Over

Furthermore, one juror said the decision was based purely on the facts, and prosecutors painted the shooting as a fit of rage. With sentencing set for November 21 and an appeal already in motion, this case is far from over — and social media is definitely watching how it all plays out.

“I hope the judge takes into consideration all the evidence that was presented, the past domestic violence, history against Pedro and Daisy and the time she’s already served,” Crystal Barretto shared. “And also taken into consideration, her children and the new baby that was just born.”

Walking the Path to Outpatient Withdrawal Management in Florida – Hollywood Life

Everyone needs a little help sometimes. Taking that first step toward recovery from drug and alcohol addiction is a big deal, and it’s a good way to get on the path to reclaiming your life.

If you live in South Florida, Frontline Recovery offers outpatient withdrawal management. Instead of detoxing or recovering entirely at home, patients stay at home but attend the center for two to three hours a day over a period of one to four weeks. The approach lets you start the detox process safely while you’re still living at home, and it allows you to keep up with your daily life while still receiving expert medical care. And the best part is you won’t need to stay overnight in a hospital or clinic.

How it Works

With Frontline Recovery, outpatient withdrawal management means you’ll have medical supervision while detoxing, but you’ll return home each evening. This is different from residential programs that require you to stay in the clinic. This specialized model in Pompano Beach, FL, is designed to make it easier for people to get the treatment they need without the separation from their families and daily lives.

You can stay connected with your family, manage work and other responsibilities, and avoid disruptions to your daily routines. And this kind of stability can help reduce stress, which in turn may make it easier to stick with the treatment and help prevent you from relapsing.

Safety and medical support are the top priorities at Frontline Recovery. They provide medically supported withdrawal management services, along with personalized treatment plans that are tailored to each patient’s specific needs. Their program also addresses a variety of substances, including alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, and many others. A big benefit is quick access and admission, so you won’t have to wait long to begin your recovery journey.

The Flexibility to Maintain a Normal Routine

As you move past the initial withdrawal management phase, Frontline Recovery emphasizes flexibility and offers a way for you to maintain your regular life. You can live at home, take care of your family, fulfill job requirements, and keep up with your daily schedule. It’s an integrated approach that can help you transition more smoothly into ongoing recovery. After completing the program, you can benefit from strong follow-up support, including therapy, continued specialized treatment, and strategies to prevent relapse.

Frontline Recovery also offers a large range of care, starting with outpatient withdrawal management and extending into further addiction treatment support. Their focus is on individual and personalized plans, as well as making sure their patients’ unique situations are being addressed. Relapse prevention and long-term recovery support are important parts of their model, and they are designed to provide the tools needed for lasting sobriety.

Taking an Evidence-Based Approach to Recovery

The environment at Frontline Recovery is designed to help support healing. Located in a peaceful and convenient place in South Florida, the facility is easy to find, the center itself is set up to be comfortable and supportive, and it’s an overall welcoming space for anyone starting out on their recovery. Perhaps most importantly, Frontline Recovery uses methods that have been proven to work while taking a compassionate approach to each patient’s recovery process. This means consistent personal care and individualized treatment plans, with medical supervision throughout the withdrawal management process and a long-term focus on preventing relapses.

Frontline Recovery can walk you through every aspect of their program, with the goal being to help you navigate the challenges of withdrawal management with both respect and care, offering a path to recovery without requiring a residential stay.

Dylan Dreyer’s Grandma Won a House in Florida on ‘The Price Is Right’

by jummy84 October 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Making waves on TV runs in Dylan Dreyer‘s family history.

“Yesterday, we were talking about how Dylan’s grandmother was on The Price is Right,” Sheinelle Jones said during the third hour of Today‘s Tuesday, October 7, episode. “That was all the way back in 1963. So, of course, we had to dig up the footage ’cause Craig [Melvin] didn’t remember.”

The show went on to air a clip of Dreyer’s grandmother, Doris Milke, winning big on the game show. “She’s won more merchandise than anyone ever has in all the years. A total of $72,769,” former The Price Is Right host Bill Cullen said in the footage.

“Aw, I just miss her smile and her laugh,” Dreyer said in reaction to the clip. “I called her Gram. And, I mean, $70,000 back then is like $700,000 today. She’s still one of the most winningest contestants on The Price is Right.”

As for what her grandmother won on The Price is Right, Dreyer shared, “She won a house in Florida. She won an ice cream truck, lots of fur coats, and a couple of Jaguars, like, actual cars.”

NBC

The Price Is Right originally premiered on NBC in 1956 before moving to ABC in 1963. The series has aired on CBS since 1972.

Dreyer went on to explain that at the time her grandmother was on the game show, contestants would keep returning to continue their winning streak, like Jeopardy! “Every time you won, you would keep going back,” she stated.

Though Milke won several prizes on The Price Is Right, Dreyer said her family no longer owns all of her winnings. “They did sell the house in Florida, but my brother has some of the furniture from hers,” the meteorologist shared.

Dreyer previously opened up about her grandmother’s history on The Price Is Right on Today in July 2016. “After six weeks of competing, Grandma Doris came home a winner with the prizes to prove it,” she said in a prerecorded segment of herself visiting the game show’s set.

In addition to chatting with host Drew Carey, Dreyer got to step into her grandmother’s shoes by becoming a contestant on the show. After her name was announced to “come on down,” Dreyer accidentally ran up on stage rather than join her fellow contestants.

Before leaving the set of the CBS series, Dreyer tried her luck on the Big Wheel. By a stroke of luck, she hit the $1 spot on her first try.

“I swear, I have the video. That was my first try,” Dreyer assured her Today colleagues at the time, joking that her family has “a lot of luck on The Price Is Right.”
