How ‘Elsbeth’ Season 3 Episode 5 Just Set up Recurring Arc for ‘The Good Fight’s Sarah Steele

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

What To Know

  • Elsbeth Season 3 Episode 5 introduces a new recurring arc with The Good Fight‘s Marissa Gold (Sarah Steele) running a mayoral campaign.
  • After sparks flew between Elsbeth and the candidate, Marissa hatched a scheme.
  • The episode features a murder case involving a poetry journal head (William Jackson Harper) who kills his donor.

[Warning: The following contains MAJOR spoilers for Elsbeth Season 3 Episode 5, “Poetic Justice.”]

Elsbeth has great timing. The same week New York City elected Zohran Mamdani as its next mayor, the NYC-set CBS procedural introduced its own charismatic mayoral candidate — one whom Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) is now unwittingly connected to, thanks to a political scheme hatched by The Good Fight‘s Marissa Gold (Sarah Steele), who’s now following in her father, Eli Gold’s (Alan Cumming), footsteps with a career pivot into politics.

Elsbeth Season 3 Episode 5, “Poetic Justice,” starred William Jackson Harper as the killer of the week. He played Gary Pidgeon, the head of a prestigious poetry journal that was desperately struggling for funds (“The arts are under attack!” Harper’s Gary kept repeating). He killed his biggest donor to ensure that she didn’t rewrite her will to divert funds away from his journal and towards another. He likely would have gotten away with it had it not been for his sharing oddly specific details about the gas tank explosion during his chance first meeting with Elsbeth, who was attending a fundraising event for unhoused people with her friend, Dr. Yablonsky (Daniel Davis). Yablonsky served on Pidgeon Print’s board.

Before the run-in with the soon-to-be-revealed murderer, Elsbeth ran into her old pal, Sarah. She’s now running the mayoral campaign for Alec Bloom (Ivan Hernandez). Elsbeth and Alec shared a cute rapport that made Marissa ask, “Am I crazy, or am I sensing a vibe here?” They denied it, but the spark was there. Later, Marissa came to Elsbeth’s precinct to pitch an idea.

“I think Alec may have a woman problem, electorally speaking,” she said. “I think you two should have dinner.” She wanted to set up a date for publicity to make Alec seem more appealing to women voters. That, and, as Marissa described, “Your consent decree is kind of a magic bullet to position him well on policing for the electorate. He wants to see how the system can be changed from within.” With that, the date was set.

Michael Parmelee / CBS

The three of them met for a drink later on in the episode, and Elsbeth was moved by Alec’s story about being unhoused when he was younger and how it motivates him to want to take care of New Yorkers through public office. They shared a lot of interests as well, such as a love of musical theater and NYC tourist attractions.

Word got out to the press that Alec was seen on what looked like a date with a “mysterious redhead,” and the story went wide. When the three of them met up again, Elsbeth asked Alec and Marissa to inform the press that they weren’t an item because she didn’t want to feel like a “pawn” in their campaign, for personal reasons and because she has “serious work to do” in New York, so being painted as just a pretty love interest in the press isn’t a desirable look for her. Marissa agreed she would kill the story, but she didn’t.

The episode ended with Marissa back at the precinct and revealed that she “won’t let” Alec issue a statement saying that he and “the mysterious redhead” are just friends.

“Don’t tell Alec, but I’m the one who leaked the photos in the first place,” she revealed. “I said I didn’t want to be that person. Turns out, I am that person. I need you to listen to me carefully. It’s super important that you don’t make any moves or talk to anyone about this unless I tell you to. Elsbeth Tascioni, the future of New York is in your hands.” No pressure!

This tees up Marissa and Alec’s returns in Elsbeth Season 3 Episode 7, airing on Thursday, November 20. In the episode, Teddy (Elsbeth’s son, played by Ben Levi Ross) digs into Alec’s past for a feature he is working on. How will this be impacted by Elsbeth’s PR relationship with the mayoral candidate? Or will it help his chances? And could a real romance bloom out of this PR stunt? However it shakes down, Marissa is going to be pulling the strings.

Before Episode 7, Tony Hale, Dianne Wiest (as a nun!), and Henny Russell will guest star in Episode 6 (airing on Thursday, November 13). Russell plays Judge Milton Crawford’s (Michael Emerson) widow. Her meeting with Elsbeth is bound to cause a stir, according to Preston herself.

“Nothing less than their heads!” Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for an action thriller samurai movie called Lone Samurai, made by American filmmaker / producer Josh C. Waller. This just premiered at Beyond Fest 2025, where they explain in the intro: the film “reimagines the classic samurai epic through an intimate, hallucinatory lens. When a violent and reckless ronin is shipwrecked on a remote island, he’s left with no outlet for his rage—only the ghosts of his past and the unforgiving landscape around him now. As isolation corrodes his mind, his search for peace turns into a brutal spiritual trial, one that blurs the line between reality and nightmare.” The film stars Japanese actor Shogen (real name Shogen Itokazu) as Riku, along with Keigo Sunagawa, Yuma Sunagawa, Sumire Ashina, and badass Indonesian actor Yayan Ruhian you’ll recognize from The Raid films. The fest adds: “With sparse dialogue, stark visuals & a surreal crescendo that fuses Cast Away’s existential solitude with the feverish pulp of Temple of Doom, [the film] becomes a meditation on redemption, madness, and survival.” This sounds and looks pretty cool! Click play.

Here’s the official trailer (+ two posters) for Josh C. Waller’s film Lone Samurai, direct from YouTube:

A violent, reckless samurai (starring Shogen) is shipwrecked on a desolate island, stripped of any outlet for his rage. As he embarks on a punishing spiritual journey to quiet his turbulent mind, the line between meditation and madness begins to blur. When external demons—manifesting as flesh-hungry cannibals—abduct him, his grip on reality and his mastery of the blade are tested in ways he never imagined. Lone Samurai is written and directed by American producer / filmmaker Josh C. Waller, director of the films Raze, McCanick, and Camino previously; plus a producer on many other indie projects including Mandy. Produced by Alan Pao, Doris Pfardrescher, and Josh C. Waller. Filmed in Indonesia and Japan. This initially premiered at the 2025 Beyond Fest and Newport Beach Film Festivals this fall. Well Go USA will release Waller’s Lone Samurai film direct-to-VOD on December 12th, 2025 this fall. Look good? Want to watch?

Prince William fights back tears in painful talk about suicide

10 October 2025

Prince William was left fighting back tears during a candid talk with a woman who lost her husband to suicide.

Prince William fought back tears during a moving interview to mark World Mental Health Day

The Prince of Wales visited Rhian Manning at home to talk about the death of her husband Paul in 2012 as part of a video filmed to mark World Mental Health Day on Friday (10.10.25). The heir to the throne was seen getting choked up as he sat with Rhian in her kitchen and talked about her loss, which came just days after the death of the couple’s infant son George.

William said: “From the families I’ve spoken to who have had to endure suicide. There’s a lot of unanswered questions that live with you forever, really, don’t they? … If you could say something, or wanted to say something to Paul. What would you … what would you have said?”

Rhian replied: “I would just like to sit him down like this and just say, ‘Why didn’t you come to me?’ Because he’s missed out on just so much joy, and we would have been okay. And I think that’s what’s hardest – we would have been okay.”

William was then seen getting visibly emotional and Rhian asked him: “Are you OK?”

The royal touched her hand and replied: “I’m sorry. It’s just … it’s hard to ask these questions that I … “

The widow then went on to tell him: “No, it’s fine. It’s just … you’ve got children. It’s hard … and you’ve experienced loss yourself …

“Life can throw you these awful curveballs, but by talking about it, by, you know, having hope, you can continue.”

William added: “The best way to prevent suicide is to talk about it. Talk about it early, talk about it with your loved ones, those you trust, your friends. So thank you for talking about it.”

Since the death of her husband, Rhian set up the charity 2 Wish Upon A Star, to help others affected by the loss of a child or a young person while William has donated more than £1 million through his Royal Foundation to help set up the UK’s National Suicide Prevention Network.

Thamma Trailer Out! ‘Alok’ Ayushmann Khurrana Fights ‘Yakshasan’ Nawazuddin Siddiqui For His Love ‘Taraka’ Rashmika Mandanna Amid Bloodshed And Comedy- Watch

by jummy84 September 26, 2025
written by jummy84

The trailer for Maddock Films’ magnum opus, Thamma, plunges us straight into a BLOODY world where love bleeds, legends awaken, and humour turns too relatable. Rashmika Mandanna’s Tadaka revives a thousand-year-old legend, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Yakshaashan makes a bone-chilling declaration, and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Alok finds himself with bloodshot eyes, no pulse, sunlight burning his skin. From there, the trailer explodes into a never-before-seen spectacle with VFX that can only be called LEGENDARY: beasts unleashed, moments of action and horror seamlessly balanced with Maddock Films’ signature comic timing. And at its heart lies a love story – bloody, wild, and unforgettable – making Thamma a complete entertainer that families can enjoy together this festive season.

Thamma Trailer Out

In addition to the trailer, Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films also revealed the visual identity of Maddock’s Horror-Comedy Universe (MHCU), giving fans their first look at the evolving cinematic world that began with Stree and now expands in a bigger, bloodier way with Thamma. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, Thamma blends horror, action, comedy, and romance into a cinematic experience unlike anything before.

With an ensemble cast including Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Faisal Malik, and Geeta Agrawal, the film promises a Diwali spectacle of epic proportions.

Dinesh Vijan On Thamma

Dinesh Vijan, founder of Maddock Films and producer of Thamma, says, “The Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe began with Stree and has grown with Bhediya and Munjya. With Thamma, we aimed to take the universe to its next stage – not just in terms of story, but also in terms of scale, ambition, and technology. For us, the goal has always been to draw inspiration from Indian folklore for our characters. It’s a forgotten Indian story we have revived. Today, with the reveal of the visual identity of the MHCU, we are committing to a long-term vision of telling Indian stories for Indian and global audiences.”

Ayushmann Khurrana On Thamma

Ayushmann Khurrana says, “Becoming a part of Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock horror-comedy universe is a thrilling step in my journey as an actor. This genre has always fascinated me because it pushes boundaries – it makes you laugh, scares you, and yet touches your heart. In Thamma, I play Alok – a man who never asked for the extraordinary, but is forced to confront it. He’s flawed, vulnerable, and ambitious, and suddenly, he’s carrying the weight of powers he doesn’t fully understand.”

He added, “What excites me most is that this film is an entertainer, one that families across generations can watch and enjoy together this Diwali. Under Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik’s vision, Aditya Sarpotdar’s storytelling, and with the brilliant energies of Rashmika, Nawaz bhai, and Paresh ji, we’ve built something that I believe will define the next chapter of Indian cinema’s horror-comedy space. And trust me, this trailer is just a glimpse of the madness you are going to see on screen. The universe is only getting bigger from here.”

Amar Kaushik On Thamma

Co-producer Amar Kaushik adds, “What excites me most about the MHCU is how we, in every film, add something new while staying rooted in India’s cultural DNA. Thamma is the first love story we have created in this universe, and who doesn’t love a love story? When audiences watch Thamma, they will see it has the right amount of horror, humour, and heart. Something that we at Maddock have always stood for. It is a total family entertainer that I am sure families will love watching this Diwali.”

Rashmika Mandanna On Thamma

Rashmika Mandanna, who has worked with Maddock Films before but, for the first time, will be seen as part of the MHCU. She said, “Thamma is a very special film for me because it brings together horror, comedy, folklore, and even a love story rooted in India. Playing Tadaka has been both challenging and exciting, as she’s an age-old legend brought to life anew. I’m thankful to Maddock Films for giving me this opportunity once again, and I’m really looking forward to everyone experiencing Thamma.”

Aditya Sarpotdar On Thamma

Aditya Sarpotdar, director, added, “With Munjya, we tapped into folklore to create a horror-comedy that felt rooted yet entertaining. Thamma takes the universe forward in an unexpected way – it’s scarier, funnier, and at its heart, a twisted love story. Being part of the MHCU is exciting because each film adds a new layer, and with Thamma, audiences will see just how wild this universe can get.”

The Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe already includes blockbusters like Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya, and with Thamma, the universe grows bigger, bloodier, and bolder. With the new visual identity now revealed, fans can expect many more exciting chapters to come. So this October 21, watch Thamma in cinemas- Maddock Films’ most ambitious Horror-Comedy crossover yet.

C.T. Fails Leka, Fights With Turbo

by jummy84 September 4, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The following post contains MAJOR spoilers for The Challenge Season 41 Episode 6, “Is He Throwing a Fit?”]

Chris “C.T.” Tamburello is arguably the G.O.A.T. of The Challenge. Sure, Johnny Bananas has more season wins, while Jordan Wiseley has earned the most money (so far). However, CT has managed to win hearts, minds, and five regular-season finales over a decades-long career on the show. So it was a complete surprise when the entire house turned against him on the latest episode of Vets and New Threats — and we have to wonder how much more he still has in the tank, as he might word it.

On Wednesday’s (September 3) new segment, the daily challenge was “Runes My Life,” which was both a suspension and a water challenge. Last time CT saw one of those was on Battle of the Eras, and he went to the hospital over it, so he experienced a bit of post-traumatic stress at the sight of it. “I’ve always been nervous but never afraid. This time is different. Falling from this high, uncontrollably, is pretty scary for me now. This is the first time I’ve had to face my fear, face my trauma,” he admitted in a confessional.

Unfortunately for CT — and especially for his partner Ayoleka “Leka” Sodade — that fear, coupled with his apparent lack of physical conditioning, made him unable to climb a rope ladder at all. He tried to offer her some guidance from his spot in the water, but the scene was both horrifying and humorous to the others. The show even meme-d him floating around helplessly in the water like so…

MTV

CT instantly earned admonition from others, especially Turabi “Turbo” Çamkıran, who repeatedly called his performance shameful and even accused him of purposefully throwing the mission.

CT denied he bellyflopped, so to speak, on purpose. “There are better ways to throw a challenge, and humiliating myself wouldn’t be the first option. I know I need to get up. It’s like paralysis,” he said in a confessional. However, Turbo still accused him of doing just that in a fiery kitchen confrontation. After a bit of screaming — with the rest of the house gathering around to watch with popcorn in hand — CT told Turbo he should’ve talked to him about this in private and that he thought they were friends, but Turbo issued the ultimate takedown by calling him a p-word and saying he’s now subject to “jungle rules,” whatever that means.

After Nany Gonzales intervened to stop her friends from fighting, the business of the upcoming elimination could finally commence. With Leka automatically sent into the arena, it was up to the daily challenge’s winners, Leo Dionicio and Sydney Segal, to choose who to put up in the jury vote alongside “hangnail” Olivia Kaiser. Despite Olivia’s plea to Leo that Aneesa not be the winners’ pick, Leo, after some speechifying, threw her into the mix anyway.

The vote between Olivia and Aneesa was a close one, but it was Aneesa’s longtime friend Leroy Garrett who stood firm to save her; though his partner, Izzy Fairthorne, wanted to throw their vote to Olivia and thought she should have the choice since it was a women’s elimination day, he said there wasn’t anything she could do to change his mind, and that was that. While Aneesa faced some serious doubters from other vets, like Ashley Mitchell and Aviv Melmed, Leroy was in her camp 100%. (“I was a little conflicted at first, but I thought, ‘What would Johnny Bananas do in this situation?’” he later explained of his foot-down decision… and here comes another Johnny Bananas “rent free” tweet.)

In the arena, “Out of Time,” Leka and Olivia were challenged to go back and forth across giant ramps with rollers on them to press buttons on either side, and whoever could rack up the most button presses in five minutes would win. Leka, who’d literally carried her team on her back earlier in the day while Olivia sat out as the hangnail, ran out of steam halfway through and lost by two points. Thus, she paid the price for CT’s big mistake, but will he be next on the chopping block?

At the selection, CT was partnered up with Aneesa, who was also in the crosshairs this week, so the future looks grim for both. Meanwhile, the other pairings are as follows: Sydney and Derrick Kosinski, Leo and Nany, Adrienne Naylor and Leroy, Derek Chavez and America Lopez, Aviv and Gabe Wai, Cedric Hodges and Jonna Mannion, Michaela Bradshaw and Justin Hinsley, Yeremi Hykel and Tay Wilcoxson, Ashley and Theo Campbell, Will Gagnon and Izzy, and Jake Cornish and Olivia.
