Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Opens Up About Explosive Fight With Dad Before His Death

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently opened up about a painful rift with his late father, Rocky Johnson, saying their final conversation came after Rocky published his 2019 memoir, Soulman: The Rocky Johnson Story. Dwayne was stunned to discover the book included a foreword attributed to him — though he insists he never wrote it. According to him, that misrepresentation “completely crossed the line,” touching on what he sees as a pattern of attention-seeking and narcissism.

He described their 2019 argument as the biggest clash they ever had, tracing it back roughly 25 years earlier when he chose to pursue wrestling — a path Rocky initially challenged. The revelation came as part of a broader reflection on his complicated relationship with his father, acknowledging Rocky’s strengths as a friend and mentor to others even as their personal bond was fractured.

Dwayne also shared memories from his childhood, including a traumatic episode when, as a teenager, he and his mother were evicted in Hawaii. Expecting to stay with his father in Tennessee, he arrived to find himself placed in a motel — with Rocky nowhere to be found. He later learned the move was tied to Rocky living with another woman. Reflecting on his mother’s pain, Dwayne has publicly said that period still haunts him. *do you have a strained relationship w one of your parents? How do you manage it?*

Bigg Boss 19: Movie Night Turns Explosive As Awez Darbar Breaks Down After Fight With Baseer Ali | Glamsham.com

What started as an entertaining surprise in the Bigg Boss 19 house quickly turned into an emotional battleground. In a recent promo, Bigg Boss announces a movie night for all the housemates — but with a shocking twist. The contestants are shown what people outside the house are saying about them based on their behavior inside, sparking immediate tension.

The housemates, including Abhishek Bajaj, are seen reacting with surprise and curiosity, while Shehbaz Badeshah jokingly comments, “Kya teer maar rahe ho,” adding a touch of humour. However, the atmosphere soon shifts.

A major clash erupts between Awez Darbar and Baseer Ali, escalating quickly after a light moment turns sour. In one scene, Baseer and Zeishan Quadri are seen laughing together, which irks Awez. He snaps, calling them “chomu log” — a slang remark that visibly offends Baseer.

Baseer retaliates with full force, saying, “Chomu tu hoga. Chela, chomu, chilke tu hai.” Awez tries to de-escalate, saying softly, “Personal cheezein baatein kar rahe hai,” but Baseer hits back hard with, “Nikalu kya history?” hinting at something deeper and more personal.

Visibly shaken by the exchange, Awez breaks down in tears, questioning the hurtful allegations being made. “Ye kya baatein kar rahe hain ye log? Fake allegations kaise laga sakte hai?” he says emotionally.

This emotionally charged episode highlights how quickly emotions run high in the Bigg Boss house — especially when reputations are on the line.

Bigg Boss 19, hosted by Salman Khan for the 16th time, is currently streaming 24×7 on JioHotstar and airs on Colors TV every night at 10:30 PM.

Cardi B Reveals Hold-Up On Offset Divorce, Alludes To Ex Wanting Her To Pay His Taxes & Sign Over One Of Her Properties: Imma Fight For That

It’s not lingering love that’s keeping #CardiB and #Offset married.

During a recent live chat on X, Cardi clarified that she’s “legally separated” from Offset, and the only reason their divorce hasn’t been finalized is because someone wants to hold her “hostage.”

While she didn’t directly name her husband of seven years, Cardi suggested Offset’s #divorce demands include having her pay his taxes and hand over one of her properties, two things she’s ready to “fight.” She also said the separation hasn’t affected her children’s lives, emphasizing that their schedules remain unchanged.

Amaal Mallik, Kunickaa Sadanand Get Into Heated Fight Over Kitchen Duties On Bigg Boss 19

Tensions boiled over in the Bigg Boss 19 house as Amaal Mallik and Kunickaa Sadanand were involved in a heated confrontation over respect and responsibilities. The argument began when Kunickaa sarcastically reacted to Amaal’s comments about kitchen work, leading to a dramatic escalation.

The conflict started when Amaal, as the house Captain, assigned Nehal Chudasama lunch duty. Nehal objected, citing her exercise routine, but Amaal stood firm. The situation worsened when Kunickaa questioned Amaal about his allocation of duties, leading to a sharp exchange.

Amaal told Kunickaa to stay out of the kitchen unless assigned, sarcastically saying, “Badi meherbani kar rahe hai (You’re doing a great favour).” Amaal snapped back, “I am being most respectful to you,” to which Kunickaa interrupted with a dismissive “Bas! (Stop).”

The argument intensified as Amaal retorted, “Izzat dene ka matlab ye nahi ke naukar banjau main (Giving respect doesn’t mean I have to become a servant).” Kunickaa responded with folded hands, saying, “I don’t want your respect.” The fight also sparked a separate spat between Shehbaz Badesha and Abhishek Bajaj, who were nearly physical before being stopped by fellow contestants.

The first eliminations of the season took place on Sunday, with Nagma Mirajkar and Polish actor Natalia Janoszek becoming the first two contestants to exit in a double eviction. The remaining housemates include Gaurav Khanna, Ashnoor Kaur, Nehal Chudasama, Baseer Ali, Zeishaan Quadri, Neelam Giri, Tanya Mittal, Awez Darbar, Kunickaa Sadanand, Farhana Bhatt, and Shehbaz Badesha.

Emma Heming Willis says her children’s lives have been turned “upside down” by the impact of Bruce Willis’ dementia fight.

Emma Heming Willis says her children’s lives have been turned ‘upside down’ by the impact of Bruce Willis’ dementia fight

The model and influencer, 47, has been acting as a carer for her ailing Die Hard actor husband, 70, since he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, and has now used her new book to describe how the condition is changing daily life for their young daughters, Mabel and Evelyn.

Emma said in her new book The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path: “The truth is, Mabel and Evelyn’s daily lives were being turned upside down. For example, with FTD and other forms of dementia, some people become more sensitive to noise, which can cause distraction, confusion, and agitation.

“So I had everyone tiptoeing around the house to keep it as peaceful and serene as possible. This meant playdates were obsolete and forget about sleepovers.”

Emma has also used her book to reflect on the “loud and crazy and fun” times Bruce has enjoyed with Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11.

Father-of-five Bruce is also father to Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31, who he had during his marriage with actress Demi Moore, 62.

Emma wrote about how she recently decided to move Bruce into a separate home with a professional care team, saying their household had become one where “no one was thriving” amid his health fight.

She said the new arrangement allowed the family to “find a better balance and fit” for everyone.

Speaking to Good Morning America on 9 September, Emma defended the decision after receiving social media criticism.

She said: “It’s really not up for a debate. Now I know that Bruce has the best care 100 percent of the time. “His needs are met 100 percent of the time, as well as our two young daughters’. So I’m not gonna take a vote on that.”

Emma added she expected criticism but insisted it was “the safest and best decision — not just for Bruce, but also for our two young girls”.

Emma’s book The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path is out now.

Nina Dobrev Talks Fight for Equal Pay to Vampire Diaries Male Co-Stars

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Despite being the only actor playing multiple characters during the early seasons of The Vampire Diaries, Nina Dobrev has revealed that she was paid less than her fellow male co-stars Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley.

The actress opened up about the behind-the-scenes equal pay battle in Entertainment Weekly editor Samantha Highfill’s new book, I Was Feeling Epic: An Oral History of The Vampire Diaries. Dobrev not only played Elena Gilbert in the hit CW series, but also her character’s evil doppelgänger, Katherine Pierce, starting in the season one finale.

“Candice [King], Kat [Graham], and I were the three lowest-paid series regulars in the first two seasons,” Dobrev said. “It was a bit of a tricky situation because my contract only said to play Elena, but I was playing multiple characters, which doubled my workload. I had to be on set for double the amount of time, I had to memorize double the amount of lines.”

In the book, Highfill wrote that actors are typically able to start negotiating their contracts in season three, which means Dobrev was making less than Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) and Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) for the first few seasons.

“I wanted to play Katherine, but I wanted to be compensated fairly for that, and I wanted to be an equal to the boys,” Dobrev added. The actress eventually got more money, Highfill wrote, but she never received equal pay to her male co-leads.

She recalled being told that “out of principle” the studio “wouldn’t bump me up to being equal to the boys, and so that was probably the most hurtful because it felt like I was really working hard and we shot eighteen-hour days sometimes, and nights, and I was putting my absolute heart and soul, blood, sweat, and tears into it.”

“I remember feeling like the studio didn’t appreciate what I was bringing to the show, and it felt like they were saying that all the hard work I was putting into it didn’t matter to them and that I wasn’t an equal to my male counterparts, and so that was upsetting to me,” Dobrev continued.

Vampire Diaries co-creator Julie Plec also shared in the book that things “got really heated” with the studio when they told the show’s writers they couldn’t use Katherine anymore because it meant the studio would have to pay Dobrev more each time.

However, Plec said that “was not something that I felt was right or fair,” leading them to “beg the network to let us even write story for Katherine.”

Plec said that the writers were eventually allowed to write for Katherine but recalled, “I literally think we had to say, ‘We’ll kill Katherine,’ in order to get permission to use her.”

“Over time, between Nina being generous and gracious and the tension simmering down a little bit, we were granted a certain number of episodes,” the co-creator said. “[But] I literally think we had to say, ‘We’ll kill Katherine,’ in order to get permission to use her.”

Dobrev exited the show after season six, when her character Elena was put under a sleeping spell by villain Kai Parker (Chris Wood), which linked Elena’s life to that of her best friend Bonnie Bennett. But since Elena wasn’t killed off, this left the door open for her to return (which she did in the series finale, titled “I Was Feeling Epic.”)

However, her return for the eighth and final season sparked another battle over pay, as revealed in Highfill’s book. Plec and co-creator Kevin Williamson said they initially intended to have Dobrev return for the entire final season.

“I really wanted Elena and Stefan to end up together,” Williamson admitted, “that would’ve been my preference, but we didn’t have Elena to bring that relationship back around. You couldn’t bring them back together in one episode.”

But Dobrev stood her ground and was only going to return if she was paid the same as Wesley and Somerhalder, who had gotten multiple raises since her departure from the series.

“I was always open to coming back for the finale, and storyline-wise it made sense. I felt like it was important and it needed to happen for the show, it needed to happen for the fans,” the actress explained. “It was just really important to me that at the end of the show, as a woman, I wanted to make sure that I was compensated and that I was an equal to my male counterparts on the show, and so it came down to that.”

Dobrev shared that the studio’s offer for her to return for the show’s finale “was five times less” than what she made when she left at the end of season six.

“That’s the only reason why at one point I almost didn’t come back,” she added. “I needed to be paid parity to the boys. I had to put my foot down and say if it didn’t happen I wouldn’t be able to come back,” she said. “And it wasn’t about the money — I didn’t give a shit about the money at all — it was the principle.”

Plec defended Dobrev, saying in the book, “She should’ve been making what those boys made all along, and nobody should’ve blinked at that request, but at the time it was very shocking. To her credit, she advocated for herself and she stuck to her guns.”

When Dobrev declined the studio’s less-than-equal offer, she said that’s when Plec stepped in and “put her foot down and spoke to everyone.” Though the studio eventually only agreed to pay for one episode at the actress’s requested rate.

“The reason we couldn’t have her for more than the one episode is because they just wouldn’t pay,” the co-creator shared. “It took a lot of work before they finally relented, but it came back that it was one episode only that they’d say yes for.”

Dobrev added, “For the fans I felt horrible and I wanted the story to be told in the best way possible, and it was heartbreaking that the artistry had to suffer because elf this, that we didn’t get to maybe have the few episodes at the end of the show that Julie wanted. … I’m very happy that we were able to make it work and that I came back, because I wanted to be part of the goodbye.”

I Was Feeling Epic: An Oral History of The Vampire Diaries is now available for purchase.

Nina Dobrev reveals bitter fight for equal pay on The Vampire Diaries

Nina Dobrev has revealed her struggle for equal pay on The Vampire Diaries.

Nina Dobrev had a real struggle for equal pay on The Vampire Diaries

The 36-year-old actress – who starred alongside Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder in the first six seasons of the supernatural teen drama – has recalled the arguments she faced as she was being paid less than her male castmates, despite playing but Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce on the show.

In Samantha Highfill’s new book I Was Feeling Epic: An Oral History of The Vampire Diarie, Nina said: “Candice [King], Kat [Graham], and I were the three lowest-paid series regulars in the first two seasons.

“It was a bit of a tricky situation because my contract only said to play Elena, but I was playing multiple characters, which doubled my workload.”

She alleged despite having a more demanding schedule thanks to playing doppelgänger versions of Elena, she wasn’t compensation fairly in comparison to her co-stars.

She added: “I had to be on set for double the amount of time, I had to memorise double the amount of lines.

“I wanted to play Katherine, but I wanted to be compensated fairly for that, and I wanted to be an equal to the boys.”

After pleading her case, she has alleged the studio actually asked wrtiers to stop writing for Katherine to avoid having to pay more.

She recalled: “I remember feeling like the studio didn’t appreciate what I was bringing to the show, and it felt like they were saying that all the hard work I was putting into it didn’t matter to them and that I wasn’t an equal to my male counterparts, and so that was upsetting to me.”

She later returned for the eighth and final season, but the offer was “five times less” than what she was paid in season six.

She said: “I needed to be paid parity to the boys. I had to put my foot down and say if it didn’t happen I wouldn’t be able to come back.

“And it wasn’t about the money — I didn’t give a s*** about the money at all — it was the principle.”

Nina argued she was concerned less by the “actual dollar amount”, and more by getting equal pay, and when that happened, she “politely declined the offer”.

Co-creator and showrunner Julie Plec backed her, with the studio agreeing to bring her back at her asking rate, but for just one episode instead of the entire run.

While she “wanted to be part of the goodbye”, Nina added: “It was heartbreaking that the artistry had to suffer because of this.”

Mike Tyson’s big showdown against Jake Paul on Netflix didn’t go so well, but the veteran boxer isn’t ready to hang up his gloves just yet. Per TMZ, Tyson has agreed to fight Floyd Mayweather in an upcoming bout set to take place in spring 2026.

“This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen,” Tyson, 59, said in a statement. “However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable — and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets.”

“I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this,” he added. “It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening!”

Lucio Fulci’s ‘Zombi 2’ (1979) Takes on a Fight with a Real Shark

by jummy84 August 30, 2025

On Friday nights, IndieWire After Dark honors fringe cinema in the streaming age with midnight movies from any moment in film history.

First, the BAIT: a weird genre pick and why we’re exploring its specific niche right now. Then, the BITE: a spoiler-filled answer to the all-important question, “Is this old cult film actually worth recommending now?”

The Bait: We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat(y McBoatface)

In 2016, Britain’s Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) added an exciting new vessel to its polar fleet. The impressive research ship took four years to construct and cost more than £200 million in labor and materials. Today, she’s a feat of modern engineering on voyages across the Arctic, where her specialized hull cuts into thick walls of sea ice as her passengers’ chart their paths to academic success.

Jeremy Allen White in Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere
'King Hamlet'

Yes, that is what happened to Boaty McBoatface.

Nine years ago, when the British public was asked to vote on a name for their coast’s latest floating landmark, the goofy half-joke “Boaty McBoatface” was proposed by BBC presenter James Hand. It won in a landslide, and though council members tried to ignore the results of the popular internet poll at first, word of a possible snub spread and turned into outrage fast.

In the summer of 2025, the massive watercraft from the U.K. is proudly known as the RSS Sir David Attenborough — so named for the beloved English broadcaster and nature historian. Still, the surprisingly vocal Boaty McBoatface electorate secured a seriously symbolic concession in the end.

The Attenborough measures nearly 129 meters from bow to stern, and it’s home to important academic studies and maritime expeditions. So, no, the ship is still not named “Boaty McBoatface.” But the National Oceanography Center does have another watercraft with that name. The second Boaty is an autonomous underwater vehicle that’s smaller, bright yellow, and beloved for her fitting identifier.

The cultural impact of the NERC’s crowdsourcing mess in 2016 means that the Attenborough and Boaty could go on causing confusion forever. A similar situation has been playing out in the scary movie world since the late 1970s, when “Night of the Living Dead” genius George A. Romero made his triumphant return to ghoulish cinema with the masterful “Dawn of the Dead” in 1978.

Enter Lucio Fulci, the director of the gleefully grotesque “Zombi 2” (1979). Known by at least a dozen other titles — including “Zombie,” “Island of the Living Dead,” “Zombie Flesh Eaters,” and more — this poorly dubbed gore-fest rose to midnight infamy on a tidal wave of “video nasties” streaming out of the U.K in the early 1980s. These extreme underground horror efforts varied in quality, but many controversial hits like “Zombi 2” earned their place in art history by circulating on the fringes first.

At 51 years old, Fulci had already made dozens of genre movies. He was well-respected for his suspense and giallo, but he’s remembered by modern horror fans as the Godfather of Gore. “Zombi 2” is a testament to the late filmmaker’s hair-brained commitment to bizarre stunts (read that headline again: a ZOMBIE fights a SHARK!) and rigorous practical effects, designed by the incredible Giannetto De Rossi.

Comfortably seated aboard the niche subgenre of “tropical horror” (which also includes titles from 1985’s shocking “Cannibal Holocaust” to the lovable live-action “Scooby-Doo”), Fulci’s vibrant island haunting blends (regrettably) dated voodoo tropes and graphic encounters with the undead to surprisingly fresh and provocative effect. It’s slow at times but a blast to watch if you can stomach the rotting flesh, writhing bugs, and sneaky director’s decision to slyly screw over the Father of Zombies.

After directing “Night of the Living Dead” in 1968, Romero stepped back from horror for a significant period. Venturing through comedy, romance, science fiction, and other lighter fare, that break was generally considered good for the director. Still, he struggled to make a living, and when Romero finally returned to terror with his second undead triumph a decade later, the director’s satirical “Dawn of the Dead” was acclaimed but became chum for a vicious school of copycats, including Fulci.

Distributed by co-financier Dario Argento, Romero’s best movie arrived in Italian theaters under the title “Zombi.” The following year, Fulci named his film “Zombi 2” to force an association between the projects, which share some sensibilities but no real narrative. The unofficial “Dawn of the Dead” spinoff has flapped in the breeze as a confusing hidden gem ever since. It managed to inspire a brief frenzy among contemporary cinephiles back then and would later spark a franchise of more (mostly) unrelated films.

The sequel you are about to see created a murky history between Fulci and Romero. Dedicated zombie aficionados continue to compare the two filmmakers’ approaches to the undead today — but even lacking a British sense of humor, you’d hope Romero would be the kind of American director to vote for Boaty McBoatface… or, at the very least, not swim in her way

Lucio Fulci’s “Zombi 2” (1979) is now streaming on Tubi.

The Bite: Wow, These Subheads Sure Worked Out, Huh?

Check back in a feature-length. Are you watching “Zombi 2”?
