Country singers Zach Bryan, Gavin Adcock face off in music fest altercation – National

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Country singers Zach Bryan and Gavin Adcock got into a heated confrontation during the Born & Raised Festival in Oklahoma over the weekend.

Several videos posted online show Bryan, 29, yelling at Adcock, 26, through a fence while at the festival on Sept.13 in Pryor, Okla.

“Hey, do you want to fight like a man?” Bryan yells in the video. “Come open the gate. Want me to throw a beer too?”

Once Adcock gets closer to the fence, Bryan appears to push it in his direction, which resulted in a security guard stepping forward to get involved.

“When you get death threats from Sack Cryin before you headline in his hometown,” Adcock wrote in text over clip.

“Eat a snickers bro,” Adcock wrote in the post’s caption.

In another video posted online, Bryan can be seen climbing the fence — topped with barbed wire — to get to Adcock, but he’s held back by security once he gets over the fence. A bodyguard can also been seen escorting Adcock away from Bryan.

Adcock shared a video on Instagram, talking about the incident with the caption, “Rotten fruit falls on its own.”

“Well, like I already said, I don’t think Zach Bryan’s a very good person. He wasn’t locked out of the festival. He had been there all day with his multiple security guards. He saw me standing between my buses when he got here,” Adcock began.

Story continues below advertisement

“He had plenty of opportunity between the whole day to do whatever he wanted to do but decided he was going to wait like an hour before my set while I was standing out there.”

Adcock said that “no artist who cares about their fans is going to fight right before their set, missing going on (stage) and disappointing fans that spent way too much money to be there.”

“I wasn’t even mad I didn’t even have a single reason to fight him. After he had already left before my set I was standing outside. He pulls up in a pick-up truck outside the gate and starts giving out threats,” Adcock continued. “So I just decided to stir him up to the point where he jumped over the fence.”

“I don’t think anybody’s scared of Zach Bryan. I’m just an adult and fighting him would only mean going to jail, missing my set and falling into a Zach Bryan lawsuit. And we all know he likes to manipulate people with money,” Adcock said.

He told his fans that Bryan knew where he was all day and “knew my set time, knew where I’d be standing.”

“He created this whole ‘I’m a badass,’ jump over the fence narrative just to try to make himself look bigger or tougher even though he could have just walked on in the gate. He’d been in there all day. At the end of the day I know my decision I made was right. I didn’t take the Zach Bryan bait,” Adcock concluded.

Adcock and Bryan have been in an ongoing feud since July.

Adcock had previously criticized Bryan as a young fan claimed he waited hours after a show in New Jersey in the hopes of getting an autograph from Bryan. The fan took to TikTok and wrote, “We waited 3 hours outside to meet Zach Bryan… he completely blew everyone off and drove away like a jerk.”

In a since-deleted response to the TikTok, Bryan wrote, “You’re not entitled after someone plays two and a half hours to a picture or a hello.” Bryan also added the acronym “GOMD,” meaning “Get off my d—.”

Adcock then fired back on X and wrote, “If you can’t handle the criticism of a 14 year old why do people idolize you? The kid was head over heels to meet you and spent/parents spent a ton of money to see you. He’s got feeling[sic] too and you’re a ‘grown man’ nearly 30. They’re the only reason you are around.”

Adcock addressed his post on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast in August, saying, “It wasn’t about not wanting to sign autographs after a show, it’s like letting a 14-year-old kid rant, without saying, ‘Get off my d—.’ You’re bigger than that.”

He also accused Bryan of wearing “a big mask in his day-to-day life.”

“Sometimes he can’t help but rip it off and show his true colours,” Adcock added. “I don’t know if Zach Bryan’s really that great of a person.”

Zach Bryan Appears to Confront Gavin Adcock at Born and Raised Fest

by jummy84 September 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Zach Bryan was a surprise guest at this weekend’s Born & Raised Festival in Pryor, Oklahoma, popping up on Saturday to sing with Gabriella Rose during her afternoon set. But Bryan also seems to have seized the opportunity to confront Gavin Adcock, a Georgia country singer who has criticized Bryan and was scheduled to perform that same day.

In a video posted online, Bryan appears to scale a barbed-wire fence backstage and charge at a figure that appears to be Adcock, dressed in a vest and hat, before a security guard holds Bryan back. Adcock is seen pointing at Bryan as he descends the fence and lunges in Adcock’s direction. Reps for Bryan and Adcock did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone’s requests for comment.

“If they open up this fucking gate, I’ll fucking kill you,” Bryan appears to say in another video posted to Instagram. “I got a show to play, you clown son of a bitch,” Adcock seems to goad him, suggesting the encounter happened prior to Adcock’s performance.

Bryan’s beef with Adcock began back in July, when Adcock called out the “Something in the Orange” singer-songwriter for the way Bryan responded to a teenage fan on social media who lamented waiting in vain for Bryan to sign an autograph following a performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. “You’re not entitled after someone plays two and a half hours to a picture or a hello,” Bryan wrote.

In an appearance on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast, Adcock accused Bryan of pretending to be something he’s not. “I think that Zach Bryan puts on a big mask in his day-to-day life and sometimes he can’t help but rip it off and show his true colors,” Adcock said. “I don’t know if Zach Bryan’s really that great of a person.”

Adcock hasn’t been shy about courting controversy. For the past few weeks, he’s been embroiled in a back-and-forth feud with cowboy singer Charley Crockett. During a concert appearance this month with Morgan Wallen, Adcock joined Wallen onstage and held up a T-shirt that appeared to feature Crockett’s photo. In a clip circulating online, Wallen flips off the shirt with a pair of middle fingers.

In June, Adcock also made headlines for declaring that Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album didn’t meet his definition of country music. “That shit ain’t country music,” he said onstage, going on to elaborate during his Nashville Now interview.

Bryan has also been in his share of drama, sending volleys back and forth with his ex, Brianna LaPaglia, and also squaring off with fellow Oklahoma singer-songwriter John Moreland. Bryan removed the song he and Moreland recorded together, “Memphis; the Blues,” from all streaming services after Moreland raised an eyebrow at Bryan’s reported $350 million publishing deal.

Sharing a screenshot of Moreland’s original post, Bryan responded: “Yooo just saw this from an artist I’ve always respected and supported. Not trying to be dramatic, but refuse to have anyone with a problem with me on my records.”

Blue Note Jazz Fest 2025: Napa Valley Recap

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

The Blue Note Jazz Festival made its way back to the Napa Valley on Labor Day weekend.

Held at The Meritage Resort and Spa, this year’s lineup featured headlining performances from Jazmine Sullivan, Questlove, Earth, Wind & Fire, Yebba, and of course, artist-in-residence Robert Glasper. “Black Radio Experience and Robtober are the platforms I use to bring all my favorite artists and collaborators together as one big family reunion and this year is no different!” Glasper said in a statement. “I’m honored to be part of such an amazing community and bring that community back together for another dope weekend in Napa.”

Guests also enjoyed riveting performances from WILLOW, Aneesa Strings, D-Nice, Slick Rick, Anthony Hamilton, Terrace Martin, Kenyon Dixon, Big Daddy Kane, Lupe Fiasco, and other indelible talent.

Back in 2022, when VIBE spotlighted the inaugural experience, Glasper explained that its conception stemmed from the intimate nature of the Blue Note clubs.

“What really draws people into the Blue Note is that it’s a small club. So even when you’re in the audience, it’s kinda like you’re part of your show,” he explained, noting that that type of intimacy is just as attractive to artists as it is for the audience. The festival “mirrors” the residency in that way.

Glasper added, “It’s not a huge festival [and] that’s on purpose. We want to have that feeling of ‘Wow, this is special. Everybody couldn’t get in here.’ And you can really feel what’s going on, like you’re part of the family.”

Taika Waititi Developing "Potentially Disastrous" Fyre Fest Musical

Taika Waititi Developing “Potentially Disastrous” Fyre Fest Musical

by jummy84 September 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Just months after Billy McFarland sold the Fyre Fest brand rights on eBay for a mere $245,300, the infamous event is being developed as a musical.

Titled Fyre Fest The Musical, the project comes from the husband-wife production team of Taika Waititi and Rita Ora. It will center on the life story of McFarland and the failed 2017 festival that landed him in jail for fraud and has since been explored in multiple documentaries.

In a press release, the musical is described as “not just a Greek-sized tragedy of one man’s con. It’s a satirical indictment of an entire generation. Fyre Fest The Musical. It’s about as wrong as a bad idea can go.”

While a production timeline and potential Broadway run for Fyre Fest The Musical have not yet been announced, the creative team has been revealed. Frequent Super Bowl commercial director Bryan Buckley will direct and write the book, with music by Oscar- and Grammy-winner Paul Epworth and set design by Hamilton’s David Korins.

“Working in the theater is always fun,” Waititi said in a statement. “I mean I haven’t done it for 15 years because it was no longer fun, but I’ve been told it will be fun this time. And I believe them.”

He continued, “When Bryan Buckley told me he wanted to make a musical about the Fyre Festival, I said, ‘Who the hell is Bryan Buckley?’ I then remembered we’ve been friends and work mates for 15 years so it was kinda hard to say no. Honestly, I think the idea is exciting, weird, and potentially disastrous, which seems apt and is how I like to work. I can’t wait to get started and snatch me some of that sweet American theatre money.”

“I never saw myself doing a theatrical musical comedy,” Buckley added in a statement of his own. “But then again, I never saw something completely mind-bendingly ridiculous and intriguing as what went down with Fyre Festival. A spectacular failed endeavor — that will haunt a generation forever. I cannot wait to get this show out to the world. And yeah man, this time there will actually be music or your money back.”

McFarland’s brand sale came after several aborted attempts to launch Fyre Fest 2, and a purported seven-figure deal that the convicted felon claimed fell through. Unfortunately for McFarland and the original Fyre Festival investors — to whom he owes more than $20 million in restitution — giving up those rights means he won’t see a dime from the musical.

This musical isn’t the only project on Waititi’s docket. He is currently attached to direct a new live-action adaptation of Judge Dredd.

Melton Ska Fest announces 2026 return after successful first year

Headliners – Madness Tribute Band, Gladness at Melton Ska Fest 2025.

Building on the momentum of a highly successful first year, Melton Mowbray Town Estate has set the date for the second Melton Ska Fest: Saturday, 25th July 2026.

The inaugural festival in 2025 serves as a powerful case study in community-led event management. The Town Estate delivered a safe, successful, and financially viable festival for 1800 SKA, Reggae and 2Tone music fans, demonstrating a strong model for leveraging local assets to create impactful cultural events. The event not only generated significant community engagement but also drove tourism and economic benefit to the Leicestershire town.

Dean Rees, CEO of the Town Estate, commented, “Melton Ska Fest 2025 proved that with careful planning and community focus, it’s possible to launch a successful new festival. We are proud of what we achieved and are excited to build on that success for 2026, further showcasing a best-practice model for events of this scale.”

Last Dinner Party Boycott Victorious Fest Over ‘Political Censorship’

by jummy84 August 24, 2025
written by jummy84

The Last Dinner Party have pulled out of their set at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth, England today (Aug. 23), in solidarity with the Mary Wallopers, whose set was cut short on Friday after the Irish band showed their support for Palestine.

“We are outraged by the decision made to silence the Mary Wallopers yesterday at Victorious,” The Last Dinner Party posted in a statement on Instagram. “As a band we cannot cosign political censorship and will therefore be boycotting the festival today.”

On Friday, the Mary Wallopers were performing onstage and after they unfurled a Palestinian flag and called for a “Free Palestine,” their show was cut short. The band posted video from the incident on Instagram, where they appeared to enter the stage with a Palestinian flag and opened with a remark to “Free Palestine.” After they began performing, a Victorious crew member looked to confront the band about the flag, which was draped onstage, and then the crew member removed it.

“Free, free Palestine,” the band said from the stage, many in the audience could be heard joining in per the video. Immediately afterward, the band’s sound was cut and the crowd responded with boos. The band then brought the flag back out which elicited cheers, and more chants from the audience and band to “free Palestine.”

A rep for Victorious Festival did not immediately return Rolling Stone’s request for comment. A festival spokesperson told the BBC the show was ended after the band used “a chant which is widely understood to have a discriminatory context,” but did not provide specifics. In the Mary Wallopers’ video post, they rejected the festival’s claim and asked that the fest “retract their statement immediately.”

“The festival have released a misleading statement to the press claiming they cut our sound because of a discriminatory chant and not the band’s call to Free Palestine,” the band wrote. “Our video clearly shows a Victorious crew member coming on stage, interfering with our show, removing the flag from the stage and then the sound being cut following a chant of ‘Free Palestine.’ The same crew member is later heard in the video saying, ‘you aren’t playing until the flag is removed.’”

In the Last Dinner Party’s post on Saturday, they wrote, “As Gazans are deliberately plunged into catastrophic famine after two years of escalating violence it is urgent and obvious that artists use their platform to draw attention to the cause. To see an attempt to direct attention away from the genocide in order to maintain an apolitical image is immensely disappointing.” They also encouraged their fans to donate to medical aid for Palestinians, and signed the post with “Free Palestine.”

Throughout this year’s festival season, artists have been showing their support for Palestinians onstage. At Newport Folk Festival, the Resistance Revival Chorus sang a prayer for Gaza and actor-comedian John C. Reilly waved a Palestinian flag from the main stage. At Coachella earlier this year, Kneecap’s pro-Palestine messaging was cut from the festival’s livestream on the first weekend and sparked controversy on the second weekend. Kneecap member Mo Chara faces terror charges in the U.K. over a claim he allegedly displayed a Hezbollah flag onstage during a London concert in November 2024. Mo Chara and the band have repeatedly denied the allegations, stating previously that they “do not, and have never, supported Hamas or Hezbollah.”

Edinburgh TV & Film Fest Reports

by jummy84 August 22, 2025

We’re here again, Insiders, as we come to the close of another week. Jesse Whittock here guiding you through a round-up of the most notable stories from the past week. Sign up for the mailing list here.

Shonda Shines

Star power and spice: Jake and Max have been pounding the halls of the Edinburgh International Conference Centre the past four days for the 50th anniversary of the Edinburgh TV Festival, an event that struck a positive chord after a 2024 characterized by doom and gloom. There was more of a creative buzz around the fest this year and it was helped along by some serious American star power in the form of Shonda Rhimes, who won an inaugural fellowship award – as she warned there are genuine fears U.S. networks are self-censoring in the Trump 2 era – and Tina Fey, who is speaking with Graham Norton in arguably the fest’s splashiest session as this email hits your inbox. Last year’s Edinburgh was defined by chatter over the “squeezed middle” – the death of mid-budget programming and the detrimental impact this was having on the sector – but attendees this year told us there was a distinctly “new normal” feeling to proceedings, and this was welcome. Not that Edinburgh didn’t come without its bit of spice. During the opening debate, Channel 4 news chief Louisa Compton set the agenda for the entire thing in one fell swoop as she claimed Netflix had behaved like “TV tourists” by commissioning Adolescence – a show created by talent that Channel 4 had been training up for years. There were audible ‘oohs’ as she delivered her line. Netflix scripted exec Mona Qureshi later hit back, saying: “I don’t think I’m a tourist – I’ve been around.” There were more ding-dongs as the week went on, including frustration from BBC, ITV and 5 chiefs when Channel 4 content boss Ian Katz slammed rivals for being “timid.” It was all very enjoyable to watch, and, to stress, remained good natured throughout. Elsewhere, big show announcements came in the way of HBO-Sky legal thriller War starring Dominic West and Sienna Miller, Channel 4’s reimagining of Army of Shadows from Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett, and ITV’s Traitors-esque gameshow Nobody’s Fool. All our coverage can be found here.

Anti-Bullying Body Funding Failure

CIISA refuseniks: On the first morning of Edinburgh, Jake broke the news that several major players in the UK were refusing to fund the Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority (CIISA), an independent body set up to deal with harassment and complaints in the British TV industry in the wake of several high-profile scandals. Channel 4, Disney, All3Media, Fremantle and Banijay have all declined to pay the voluntary fees, we understand, while Netflix and Paramount-owned 5 wouldn’t confirm either way. The BBC, Warner Bros. Discovery, Sky and ITV are among those who are funding. The understanding is the refuseniks are seeking more clarity on what the funds will be used on – CIISA is yet to deliver on its central pledge to launch a misconduct hotline, and several industry sources I’ve spoken to in the wake of Jake’s scoop have questioned why the body’s costs for 2026 are an estimated £2M ($2.7M). Whether that’s necessary or not, it’s a bad look PR-wise to be the guys who aren’t supporting an anti-bullying initiative. This is an intriguing story that looks set to keep running.

Why You Can’t Replace De Niro’s Voice

Dubble take: The TV set weren’t the only screen professionals in Scotland’s capital this month. Before Jake and Max travelled up for the television confab, Zac journeyed north for the Edinburgh International Film Festival, which ran from August 14-20. Among several notable talks, three-time Oscar-winning film editor Thelma Schoonmaker railed against the use of dubbing in international film releases during a talk about her late filmmaker husband, Michael Powell. “How do you replace Robert De Niro’s voice?” she queried, before answering her own question, “It’s just impossible.” Not only that, but she called the process of sending a film to her European counterparts “painful.” Sorry Euro friends. To be fair, when you’ve edited all of Martin Scorsese’s films since Raging Bull, you’re entitled to your own opinions. In Zac’s report, Schoonmaker addressed Powell’s legendary filmmaking partnership with Emeric Pressburger, which spawned films such as The Red Shoes, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp and Black Narcissus. “Their friendship was remarkable,” she said. Lots more Edinburgh Film Fest content flooded in through the week, including stories on Kevin MacDonald, Paul Sng and Two Neighbours director Ondine Viñao. Read more.

Ray Guns For Marvel

Mike Marsland/WireImage

Not so Marvellous: Ray Winstone‘s trip to the Sarajevo Film Festival was, as it turns out, as memorable as you might have expected. In town to receive an Honorary Heart of Sarajevo award, the veteran actor recalled during one talk a bruising experience doing reshoots for Marvel’s 2021 pic Black Widow. “I told them they should recast,” he recalled. “But I was contracted to do it.” So he did. It’s fair to say Winstone isn’t a huge fan of what the Marvel Cinematic Universe and other superhero franchises are doing to the wider ecosystem of filmmaking. “There is room for it and it’s fun, but it takes away from getting cultural films made, which are best for the actors and are really good acting parts,” he opined. Lots more from Mr Winstone about his fascinating career is here, including a story about Martin Scorsese and a famous leather jacket. More Sarajevo stories from Diana here, including a fun talk from Nosferatu actor Willem Dafoe, as the festival comes to an end today.

Daniel Dae Kim‘s Korea Highlight

‘Butterfly‘ effect: Daniel Dae Kim may have been a favorite on American TV shows for the past two decades on Lost and Hawaii Five-O, but his new Prime Video thriller series Butterfly provided the actor with something none of his past work could. “Shooting something in Korea has always been a goal of mine,” he told Sara in an interview published earlier this week. So keen was Kim to shoot in the country of his birth that he actually asked the head of publisher Boom! Studios whether a TV series could move part of the action from the U.S. and Europe, where the comic books on which Butterfly is based on are set. The recently-named honorary citizen of Seoul got his wish, and the series would shoot in numerous South Korean locations, including in the mountains, countryside and the capital. “I love that we got to shoot in Busan too, which is where I was born,” he recalled. The choice was clearly a good one, as Butterfly this week reached top spot in Prime Video’s U.S. charts, marking both and on- and off-screen success for Kim, who also exec produced through his production company 3AD and a development deal with Amazon MGM Studios.
