Seth Rogen is having to turn down his favourite directors for ‘The Studio’ cameos: “It’s gotten very strange”

Seth Rogen has revealed he’s now having to turn down his favourite directors for cameos on The Studio.

The Hollywood satire stars Rogen as TV executive Matt Remick, who is promoted to the head of the fictional Continental Studios amid major changes in the film industry. The first season of the show, which is co-created by Rogen alongside Evan Goldberg, Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck, recently wrapped on Apple TV+.

The show is notable for its extensive use of A-list guest stars, many of whom play self-deprecating versions of themselves, with names so far having included Charlize Theron, Zoe Kravitz, Martin Scorsese, Zac Efron, Olivia Wilde, Bryan Cranston, Anthony Mackie, Ice Cube and Steve Buscemi.

Scorsese’s cameo in particular, Rogen says, has spurred other A-list directors to request an appearance on the show, with the actor describing the experience of turning down some of these names as “very meta”.

“It does feel like I’m running a fake movie studio at times,” he said in a recent interview with GQ. “I’m having directors’ agents call me to pitch their clients to be the directors of fake movies on our show, which is very weird and very meta. And I’m having to actually turn down directors I’m a big fan of because the movie, the fake movie, maybe isn’t quite right for the fake package we have in our heads. So yeah, it’s gotten very strange.”

He went on to add that the success of the show has led to a few people apologising for saying no to cameos. “I had a few people come up to me at the Emmys saying they regret it, which was very meaningful to me,” he explained. “That’s all I want – for people to regret not working with me.”

The interview comes after Rogen detailed his ideal hitlist for guest stars for season two, which includes Zendaya, James Cameron and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Speaking to Variety earlier this year, Rogen also hinted that Daniel Day-Lewis, who he described as “the greatest living actor”, would be an ideal candidate. “Daniel, please consider a Zoom with us,” he quipped. “We’ll pitch you a good idea.”

Dewayne Perkins, who plays publicist Tyler, has also tipped Zendaya for a role. “She’s everything,” he said. “She represents Hollywood in such a cool way, from being a child star to reaching the level that she’s reached. She’s a really good symbol of what Hollywood can be in a good way.”

In a glowing five-star review of season one, NME wrote: “This tongue-in-cheek takedown of the showbiz world is the funniest thing to come out of 2025 so far. If it doesn’t win an Emmy, there’s no justice left in Hollywood. Either that, or it’s a sign that the show has cut a bit too close to the bone – which feels like what The Studio is trying to do anyway.”

Rogen has also spoken recently about how the show was highly influenced by The Office.

House of the Dragon favourite stars in glamorous first look at all-new BBC drama from acclaimed writer

After the success of BBC’s Mood, Nicôle Lecky is back for yet another drama and this time round, Wild Cherry looks to be just as dramatic and twisted as Lecky’s first series.

Not only has Lecky created and written the series, she’s also starring in the show as Gigi, a fellow resident of the affluent neighbourhood of Richford Lake that is drawn into the drama encircling the main mother-daughter duos at the heart of this tale.

The series follows friends Juliet (Eve Best) and Lorna (Carmen Ejogo), two successful working mothers, who are shocked when their daughters get embroiled in a school wide scandal.

Well now, we have a juicy first look at Wild Cherry, thanks to a brand new official trailer that has just landed – and boy, does it look like a series that is prime for a binge-watch.

Alongside the trailer, the official release date for the series has also now been confirmed, and will land on BBC One and iPlayer on Sunday 15th November.

Eve Best as Juliet, Amelia May as Allegra, Carmen Ejogo as Lorna and Imogen Faires as Grace in Wild Cherry. Lesley Edith

“In this town, they had wonderful lives,” we hear Lecky’s Gigi narrate at the start of the trailer. “It was a world of privilege for all of them but in Richford Lake, everyone was hiding something.”

We see flashes of the glamorous lives in question, from Juliet in the middle of a professional photoshoot to Grace (Imogen Faires) and Allegra (Amelia May) enjoying time at their private school together and then, going to parties in lavish homes.

But we then see Allegra admit to a boy that there’s a secret messaging app going round their school and we soon see things get a whole lot darker. It turns out that students have to pay to be featured on there, posting provocative pictures in exchange for likes and comments, it seems.

It’s clear there’s drama brewing in both camps of students and their parents as we see the adults sit down for a dinner party, which looks to be rather tense. But then things take a turn for the worse when we see that one of Grace and Allegra’s friends has gone missing, with the police on the search for the truth.

As we see both Grace and Allegra’s mugshots on a board in a police station, could they have something to do with it? But that simmering tension boils over into Juliet and Lorna’s own dynamic, with Lorna telling Juliet to not tell her how to parent her own daughter.

“Nobody knew what they were capable of – until it was too late,” we then hear as the scene shows Juliet, Allegra, Lorna and Grace all staring seriously at their reflections in a mirror. Could it be in the aftermath of something terrible? We’ll just have to wait and see.

The official synopsis for Wild Cherry reads: “In Richford Lake things appear perfect for super-mum Juliet (Eve Best) and business mogul Lorna (Carmen Ejogo), but when their teens Grace (Imogen Faires) and Allegra (Amelia May) are accused of a shocking scandal at their exclusive private school, toxic secrets and lies ripple throughout the community.

“A coming-of-age drama for both mothers and daughters as they navigate privilege, power and social media. “Like mother like daughter” rings loudly in a complex world, where danger and betrayal is never far from the surface – even in a perfect town.”

Mark My Words: Khaki Is Going to Be Winter 2025’s Favourite Hue

As I write this, I’m bundled in the warmest cashmere I own, watching as the morning’s rain tips into the afternoon. There’s no getting around it—winter is here. To set myself up for a chic and considered season, I’ve been keeping a close eye on the emerging tones shaping this year’s cold-weather wardrobes—searching for a few subtle updates that make my capsule wardrobe feel a little fresher.

After a bit of observation, I’ve noticed that winter’s usual favourite hues, deep burgundy and classic black, are being gently edged out by an elegant, earthy contender: khaki.

Influencer @maryljean wears a khaki jacket with a khaki miniskirt and knee-high boots.

From supple suede jackets and tailored wool coats to jeans, bags and beyond, this understated hue has touched almost every silhouette this season.

Slotting easily into my existing wardrobe, this emerging trend pairs as well with the black and grey foundations of winter as it does with dark navy tones for extra depth—and looks even more considered when worn with lighter, spring-ready shades such as yellow and pink as we imagine the sunnier days ahead.

A serious indicator that the trend is about to take off, khaki made a strong impression on the autumn/winter 2025 runways, appearing across collections from Stella McCartney, Hermès, Christian Dior and more, where designers styled the tone with crisp whites, warm beiges, and even pops of purple.

Beyond the runways, I’ve spotted stylish New Yorkers, Londoners and Parisians embracing the trend this season. Now filtering swiftly into shop windows, the khaki colour trend is taking form in beautifully cut jackets, cosy knits and everyday denim. I’ve already spotted refined iterations at H&M, COS and Reformation—proof that this is one of the easiest (and most wearable) updates to make this season.
