Katherine Schwarzenegger shares her father Arnold Schwarzenegger’s no-nonsense approach to chores

15 November 2025

Katherine Schwarzenegger has taken inspiration from her father Arnold Schwarzenegger when it comes to her parenting approach.

Katherine Schwarzenegger has a hardline approach to her children’s chores

The 35-year-old author – who has daughters Lyla, five, and Eloise, three, along with son Ford, 12 months, with her husband Chris Pratt – has taken a leaf out of the Terminator icon’s book when it comes to handing out chores for her two elder children.

Katherine told the Cat and Nat Unfiltered podcast: “I guess (we’re) more traditional with the chores and also the implementation of the chores and the strictness of the chores.

“And this is like, probably a little bit of my father coming out, but my dad had no patience or excuses for not doing your chores.”

The writer – the eldest child of Arnie and his ex-wife Maria Shriver – continued: “I was brought home from my semi-formal because I didn’t take my clothes out of the dryer and fold them and put them away. And I came home from the semi-formal because of that. My dad was very strict about it.

“And I was always like, ‘This is terrible. How could you do this to us? Nobody has chores like this.’ Now I’m like, we’re doing the same thing.”

Katherine recently revealed that she and Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris are loving “life and parenting” with their kids.

She said: “We do a really good job communicating. It’s something that was really important to both of us from the beginning and continues to be really important to us as life gets busier and crazier, especially as you add more children into the mix.”

Katherine – who is also stepmother to the Jurassic World star’s son Jack, 13, from his first marriage to Anna Faris – feels that she and Chris “balance each other out really well” as parents.

She explained: “He has a lot of strengths that I don’t have, and I have certain strengths that maybe he doesn’t have.

“We are a great team. I think it’s always keeping in mind that we’re a team and that we’re doing our best to tackle all the different things. We’re also very present in this beautiful season of life of having young children and getting to spend a lot of time with them. It’s such a sweet time.”

D’Angelo’s son, Swayvo Twain (born Michael Eugene Archer Jr.), spoke out for the first time since his music icon father’s funeral in a heartfelt post to Instagram on Wednesday (Nov. 12), which featured parts of his emotional eulogy at the neo-soul legend’s memorial service last month.

“My dad, he came down to Atlanta. He spent three weeks with me. Anything we ever missed, any questions I ever had, anything I wanted to ask him about — anything — we just had every conversation,” Twain recalled. “Every laugh and every moment, man. It really just cleared my spirit, man. That’s the time I needed him the most ever. He stood right there.”

Twain explained how he gained a ton of clarity following his father’s funeral. “My mom [Angie Stone] passed and it left me with a lot of questions,” the 28-year-old added. “After [D’Angelo’s] funeral, I gained a lot of answers to things.”

Twain, a rapper and singer in his own right, is the eldest child of D’Angelo, who has two younger siblings: 26-year-old Imani and 15-year-old Morocco.

D’Angelo died at 51 years old following a battle with cancer on Oct. 14. “The shining star of our family has dimmed his light for us in this life,” his family said in a statement to Billboard. “After a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer, we are heartbroken to announce that Michael D’Angelo Archer, known to his fans around the world as D’Angelo, has been called home, departing this life today, Oct. 14, 2025.”

“We are saddened that he can only leave dear memories with his family, but we are eternally grateful for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind,” the statement continued. “We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time but invite you all join us in mourning his passing while also celebrating the gift of song that he has left for the world.”

There was an outpouring of tributes from the music community, including heartfelt messages from Doja Cat, Tyler, the Creator, Jill Scott, The Alchemist and DJ Premier.

Laura Dern’s Parents: Everything to Know About Her Mother, Diane Ladd, & Father Bruce Dern
Celebrity News

Her Mother, Diane Ladd, & Father Bruce Dern – Hollywood Life

Laura Dern is one of the most celebrated actresses of all time. Aside from uncredited roles in the early 70s, she began regularly acting in 1980, and she’s appeared in a wide-range of critically-acclaimed films and popular blockbusters, notably early hits like Blue Velvet in 1986 and Jurassic Park in 1993. While Laura has been a beloved star for decades, she actually has many family members who have been in the entertainment industry in various forms. Her parents, Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd, both worked as actors, and she also has relatives who have been in politics, very successful businesspeople, and writers. All three actors have stars on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame close by each other.

Laura, who herself is a mother of two, has spoken about how happy she was that her parents were both entertainers in a 2014 interview with The Guardian. “My parents, Dianne Ladd and Bruce Dern, are so real; they’re so who they are. The 70s, when I was a child, was their time of great success. But there were no cameras following you through the market or paparazzi at your school,” she said. “They wanted to play complicated people and they didn’t care about anything else, like the glam stuff.”

Unfortunately, Diane died on November 3, 2025. Find out more about both of Laura’s parents here.

Bruce Dern

Laura’s dad was married once before he went out with Diane. Bruce was briefly wed to Marie Dawn Pierce from 1957 to 1959, before marrying Diane in 1960. The pair’s first daughter died at 18 months old. By the time Laura was born in 1967, he was an established actor, with roles in a variety of TV shows, like Stoney Burke, where he appeared in 17 episodes. He had also done some movie work, including in films like Wild River and Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte.

Since the 60s, Bruce has appeared in a wide array of movies where he’s been critically acclaimed, including 1974’s The Great Gatsby, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. His performances in 1978’s Coming Home and 2013’s Nebraska earned him both Golden Globe and Oscar nominations. Bruce and Diana divorced in 1969 and remarried Andrea Beckett that same year!

Laura has opened up about getting closer with her dad as she’s gotten older. She revealed that when she was younger, she felt like her dad was a bit unsure as a parent in a 2013 interview with Marc Maron on the WTF podcast.  “I think he kind of — as you could imagine — didn’t really know what to do with a small person,” she explained. She also joked about how a playdate’s dad confronted her over a character her dad played who killed John Wayne in a 2013 Vulture interview.

Awkward playdates aside, she did reveal what she learned from her dad in that interview. “To stay true to what’s right for you. Stay true to your own voice, and don’t worry about needing to be liked or what anybody else thinks. Keep your eyes on your own paper,” she said of what she picked up on as an actress.

Diane Ladd

Like Bruce, Diane had also established herself as an actress with a variety of film and TV roles in the late 1950s and 60s before Laura was born. Over the years, Diane has appeared in a number of hit movies like Chinatown (1974) and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989), and she’s received Oscar nominations for roles in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (1974), Wild Heart (1990), and Rambling Rose (1991).

While Diane has been open about how she initially discouraged Laura from pursuing a career in acting, Laura’s first two uncredited roles were in her mom’s movies Alice and 1973’s White Lightning. Even though Laura spent lots of time with her dad as a kid, the actress did explain that her mom was the primary caregiver in the WTF interview. “I definitely was raised by my mom and my grandma,” she said. After Diane and Bruce split, she remarried William Shea from 1969 to 1976 and Robert Hunter in 1999.

The mom-and-daughter pair co-starred in the TV series Enlightened, which ran from 2011 to 2013. Laura said that some people didn’t realize that they weren’t just a mother and daughter on TV but in real life too. “I have had so many people come up to me, not really knowing we’re mother and daughter, and it’s amazing that there are people who are fans of the show who don’t know and get such a kick out of the relationship,” she said in a CBS News interview.

Both actresses appeared in a number of different projects together, including Rambling Rose, Wild At Heart, and Citizen Ruth. Similarly, Diane was ecstatic to get to work alongside her daughter on the show. “To work with someone you love is a great thing,” she told CBS News.

Laura announced on November 3, 2025, that Diane died at the age of 89.

“My amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother, Diane Ladd, passed with me beside her this morning, at her home in Ojai, California,” Laura wrote in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. “She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created. We were blessed to have her. She is flying with her angels now.”

Ryan Seacrest has announced the death of his father Gary Seacrest aged 81.

Ryan Seacrest has announced the death of his father Gary Seacrest aged 81

Sharing a heartfelt tribute on social media, the 50-year-old radio and television presenter said Gary had died peacefully earlier in the week following a long battle with prostate cancer.

Ryan revealed the news on Friday (31.10.25), writing on Instagram: “It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that my loving father peacefully passed away earlier this week. My mom, sister and I have peace knowing he is in a better place and free of any pain or suffering. We are heartbroken.”

Ryan also called Gary “a devoted husband for 56 years, an incredible Papa to Flora, and my best friend”.

He added: “Dad you will live in our hearts forever. I love you.”

The American Idol host shared several photos alongside the message, showing moments with his father and their family, including his sister, Meredith Seacrest.

Ryan had previously spoken publicly about his father’s health battle.

In a 2021 Instagram post, he said Gary had been “battling cancer for several years”, though at the time doctors believed it was “no longer detectable”.

However, during a July broadcast of his radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest, he revealed Gary’s cancer had returned and worsened.

He said that while undergoing chemotherapy, Gary also developed pneumonia, which left him in the intensive care unit for several weeks.

Ryan became emotional as he described the experience of watching his father suffer.

“When you see a parent suffering and when you see them going through this and you don’t understand it yourself, you’re just listening to all the different doctors and trying to make sense of what they’re trying to suggest and do,” he said during the July programme.

Ryan added: “I didn’t want to miss trying to understand who these people were that were taking care of my father.”

Gary’s wife, Connie Seacrest, has also battled cancer in the past and is now in remission.

Speaking on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, Ryan said the disease “affects every one of us in some way, and it sucks”.

He added: “And the treatments suck… treatments are tough.”

Ryan, who described his father as his “best friend”, has often credited his parents for their support throughout his career in broadcasting, spanning radio, American Idol and television presenting.

The ongoing season of Bigg Boss 19 has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Several contestants Kunika Sadanand, Amaal Malik, Shahbaz Badesha, Neelam Giri, and Tanya Mittal, are now facing heavy backlash from fans after allegedly body-shaming actress Ashnoor Kaur during a recent episode. The controversy began when Ashnoor Kaur’s father, Gurmeet Singh, took to Instagram on Thursday to share a story reel showing contestants making hurtful remarks about his daughter inside the Bigg Boss house.

Reacting to the viral clip, Gurmeet wrote, “Why is everyone so insecure about a 21-year-old girl? Oh, I know… they can’t match her dignity and grace.” His response immediately caught the attention of netizens, who began slamming the contestants for their insensitive comments. In the video that went viral, Amaal Malik and Shahbaz Badesha were seen joking about Ashnoor’s appearance. Amaal reportedly said, “She looks like an egg,” to which Shahbaz added, “She has become a thepla.”

Meanwhile, Tanya Mittal, Kunika Sadanand, and Neelam Giri were seen sitting at the dining table, gossiping about Ashnoor’s food habits. They questioned why the 21-year-old actress hadn’t lost weight despite being on a detox diet and exercising regularly. Neelam and Tanya were heard saying, “She’s so fat! She goes to the gym all day, yet how come she’s so fat? Her clothes would suit us better.”

Kunika Sadanand

Tanya further claimed that Ashnoor looked older than her in a video clip shown by Bigg Boss, while Kunika remarked, “Even my 13-year-old granddaughter knows what to eat and what not to eat.” In another shocking moment during the ration task, Tanya Mittal was allegedly heard calling Ashnoor an elephant. Later, along with Neelam and Kunika, she mocked the young actress again for her weight comments that many viewers found deeply offensive.

Ashnoor Kaur’s Father Fires Back At Bigg Boss 19 Housemates: ‘Why So Insecure Of A 21-Year-Old?’

by jummy84 October 31, 2025
written by jummy84

In the latest dramatic turn inside Bigg Boss 19, 21-year-old contestant Ashnoor Kaur has found her father stepping into the spotlight to defend her after a series of body-shaming remarks from fellow contestants. On Thursday, Ashnoor’s father, Gurmeet Singh, took to Instagram to directly confront comments made by housemates Kunickaa Sadanand, Neelam Giri and Tanya Mittal- turning a reality-TV spat into a wider conversation about dignity, age and respect.

In his post, Gurmeet called out the contestants by sharing a reel of their remarks about Ashnoor’s body and fitness efforts. “Why is everyone so insecure about a 21-year-old?” he asked. “Oh, I know… they just can’t match her levels of dignity and grace.” His words spread quickly online, attracting praise from fans and fellow celebrities who accused the show of allowing bullying under the guise of entertainment.

Remarks on Ashnoor Kaur stem Controversy

The backlash stems from a now-viral clip showing Tanya, Neelam and Kunickaa seated together at the dining table, discussing Ashnoor’s physique while noting that though she apparently does a detox diet and works out, she still hasn’t lost weight. Neelam asks, “Kitni moti hai, sara din gym karti hai fir bhi itni moti kaise?” (“She’s so fat; she goes to the gym all day and still hasn’t changed”), while Tanya adds that Ashnoor’s dresses would suit them better. Kunickaa reportedly chimed in, saying even her thirteen-year-old granddaughter knows better diet habits.

In another flashpoint moment during a task, Kunickaa allegedly “manhandled” Ashnoor and made disparaging comments behind her back—actions that have further fuelled the controversy.

Ashnoor Kaur

The father’s intervention

Gurmeet’s public reply is significant because it steps beyond the usual reality-show reactions. Rather than issuing a private caution to the makers, he addressed the housemates — and the broader audience — directly. His tone combined frustration and protectiveness, calling out what he saw as a targeted campaign of shaming against his daughter. By highlighting her “dignity and grace,” he reframed Ashnoor not as a victim but as someone who commands respect, challenging the notion that body-shaming is acceptable banter on national TV.

In airing the reel, he also tacitly challenged the balance of power: four older contestants “debating” a younger woman’s body in her presence, while she stood silent. His intervention opens the door to serious questions—about where the line is between playful jibe and bullying, and whether reality formats are doing enough to protect contestants.

Broader implications

The incident has escalated quickly on social media. Fans, celebrities and columnists have called the housemates’ remarks “shameful,” arguing that public humiliation for ratings is unacceptable. Actress Jannat Zubair wrote, “A person’s body is not public property for jokes and opinions… We should have evolved past body-shaming by now.”

Media critics say this episode underscores a recurring problem: when contestants are subject to remarks about weight, age or appearance, it deflects from talent and character, and instead selects vulnerability as spectacle. The fact that Ashnoor’s father had to respond publicly shows the impact such remarks have beyond the screen. Coming from the parent of a young actor, the message gains weight: this isn’t just reality TV drama; it’s about the psychological welfare of participants who are often thrust into ruthless environments.

The show’s makers and host Salman Khan have not yet formally responded to this specific incident — though fans are demanding action and an official acknowledgement on the next Weekend Ka Vaar. Meanwhile, pundits argue that how the producers handle this moment will speak volumes about whether Bigg Boss is simply an entertainment spectacle or a platform with accountability.

What’s next

Ashnoor continues to remain in the house and is yet to publicly address the remarks or her father’s intervention. Instead, much of the focus has shifted to how the show might manage the fallout. Will Tanya, Neelam and Kunickaa face in-house consequences or simply ride out the backlash? Will viewers’ outrage translate into votes and eventual eviction? And most importantly: will reality TV networks and hosts take a firmer stance on body-shaming going forward?

For now, the story remains unresolved. But the father’s strong stand has reframed the narrative—from dismissible banter to a conversation about dignity, youth and respect in the glare of public spectacle. Whether the show, the housemates or the audience adapts remains to be seen. What is clear, however, is that this episode has crossed from mere house drama into a test of how community standards are upheld on reality television.
