‘Schitt’s Creek’ Gets FAST Channel On Canada’s CBC

Schitt’s Creek made the calamitous Rose family famous famous, and their escapades can now be found in one place in Canda.

CBC has added to its FAST streaming portfolio with the launch of a Schitt’s Creek channel, featuring all six seasons of the Emmy Award-winning CBC comedy series, plus one-hour finale special Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt’s Creek Farewell.

The channel has launched on CBC Gem, CBC’s streaming service, and will launch on LG Channels and The Roku Channel in Canada this fall. CBC already runs FAST channels for the likes of  Heartland and Murdoch Mysteries.

“Audiences continue to turn to FAST channels for their daily entertainment and we are always looking to meet them where they are and connect them with their favourite shows,” said Sally Catto, General Manager, Entertainment, Factual and Sports, CBC. “The introduction of a new Schitt’s Creek channel makes the iconic series even more accessible to new viewers as well as longstanding fans, allowing them to enjoy nonstop streaming – and laughs – whenever they want.”

Schitt’s Creek was the first Canadian series to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy, starring Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Daniel Levy and Annie Murphy as the wealthy Rose family, who suddenly find themselves broke and living in Schitt’s Creek, a small town they once bought as a joke. Sarah Levy, Chris Elliott, Emily Hampshire and Jennifer Robertson also starred in the comedy, which is broadly considered one of the warmest and most inclusive sitcoms of recent times.

The show comes from Not A Real Company Productions, the production house led by Daniel Levy, who created the show with his father, Eugene Levy.

CBC Gem offers more than 6,500 hours of live and on-demand Canadian programming.

Wedotv, ZDF Studios Launch ‘Legacy’ FAST Channel

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

CANNES, France — wedotv, the global free ad-supported streaming network, is partnering with Germany’s ZDF Studios, to create and distribute a FAST channel dedicated to just one title: landmark South African drama series “Legacy.”

ZDF Studios already represents the series globally outside , bringing it to market at 2023’s Mipcom.

As many companies turn to YouTube to build IP, then approach streaming services with masses of data on the result, the single IP channel – wedotv: Legacy — now created and distributed by wedotv – shows companies approaching IP the other way round. First released in 2020 on South Africa’s M-Net, a division of MultiChoice, and now a Canal Plus company, the thriller about how a family tears itself apart in a succession battle built a huge fandom in South Africa and fame abroad. It is now leveraging digital to open up new audiences.

M-Net’s first telenovela, “Legacy” also underscores a new pathway to success – think Spain’s “The Vow” and “Sueños de Libertad” – by bringing premium production values to a novela narrative which, despite this, doesn’t hide telenovelas’ melodrama heart.

This comes with the series creators and its fictional world. “Legacy” was produced by South African powerhouse Tshedza Pictures, behind the International Emmy-nominated telenovela “The River” whose co-founders, Gwydon Beynon and Phathu Makwarela, created the series.

It is set in a world of dazzling opulence, caught by the mansion of the Price family, whose patriarch, Sebastian Price has built up Legacy Investments into a billionaire behemoth. The family mansion is a huge white marble affair replete with a pool and rose garden. The women wear stunning fashion numbers, Sebastian’s wife Dineo Price slinking down a staircase in a cleavage revealing skimpy number in its opening minutes.

Sebastian chooses and then rejects at least two successors in Ep. 1’s first 15 minutes, prompting his own murder, and a succession war as his bitter ex-wife and their unprincipled daughter Felicity will do anything to stop Dineo from shaping their playboy son into his successor. Legacy swept best telenovela and multiple other plaudits at South Africa’s 2021 SAFTA awards.

Among a large South African star-studded and notably diverse cast, the series toplines Dawid Minnaar (“Poppie Nongena”), Sean-Marco Vorster (“Warrior”) and the late Michelle Botes (“Isidingo”) who won SAFTA Golden Horns for actress and supporting actress for her performance.

The smash-hit, Award-winning series “Legacy” (104×45’) transports viewers into the high-stakes world of investment billionaires — where wealth is limitless, rivalries run deep, and family loyalty comes at a deadly price. Behind the glittering façade of the Price dynasty lies a battlefield of power, passion, and betrayal. As long-buried secrets explode and nothing and no one is safe, wedotv and ZDF Studios announced Monday at Mipcom.

“When ZDF Studios came to us with the idea of a channel dedicated to ‘Legacy,’ we wanted to make sure the key elements of a successful single IP channel were in place: quality, quantity, story, and proven audience ratings generator,” noted Philipp Rotermund, CEO of wedotv. “Legacy” has all of those key qualities in spades. It’s also incredibly compelling and binge-worthy, which helps keep viewers engaged within the platform ecosystem, which is essential for advertisers.”

“There is a real upside to creating and launching a channel like wedotv: ‘Legacy’ — It has a built-in fan base,” said Florian Streit, Director, Drama, ZDF Studios. “Single IP channels work well because they are immediately identifiable to fans. ‘Legacy’ is also a long-running series that maintains an exceptional level of quality across all episodes.”

LaKeith Stanfield Details Major Label Debut, “Fast Life”: Interview

by jummy84 September 27, 2025
written by jummy84

LaKeith Stanfield is returning to his music roots with the release of his new single, “Fast Life,” featuring Kid Cudi. The record and accompanying video mark his official Def Jam debut and pave the way for his long-awaited new album (slated to be “coming soon”).

Of the record, Stanfield told VIBE, “I originally wrote and recorded this song about 7 years ago. My life was turbulent, exciting, and sad. This song explores that feeling in my journey.”

“Fast Life” is somewhat of an introspective look into his life when “things started popping off” for Stanfield. He explained, “It was just like a barrage of different things coming from different directions [and] I didn’t really know how to deal with it. It was a lot of money, a lot of fame, a lot of accolades coming at once. I went from anonymity to n****s running up on me, like, ‘What’s up, Get Out?’”

The adjustment ultimately ended with a stint in rehab, and now, Stanfield feels the journey has been “surreal” considering he’s been able to “turn that negativity into something positive.” The latter is what he intends to do with his music, noting, “I want to alchemize and make the negative stuff, give birth to something a little bit more positive.”

During a private screening back in August, the acclaimed actor revealed that music was actually his first love. “I’ve been doing it since I was 11. I’ve always loved music,” he explained before confessing that when he’s traveling, filming, or in the in-between, he’s always working on his music.

Stanfield teased, “I rap, I sing, I scream until I don’t have a voice,” and with “Fast Life,” he feels, “It’s time to share, it’s time to let it out.”

Described as “hypnotic as it is hedonistic,” the visual is a short film directed by Jeymes Samuel (The Harder They Fall, The Book of Clarence) with narration by Taraji P. Henson and cameos from Madeline Brewer, John Boyega, David Oyelowo, Jimmy Akingbola, and Stanfield’s wife, Kasmere.

On his synergy with Samuel, Stanfield labeled it “weird in a beautiful way.”

He shared, “[He] just has a great imagination. And he was just like, ‘How do we take it to the next level? How do we lather it in some elements of creepiness, and embed some deeper meaning?’ I had a really great time when I’m working on ‘The Harder They Fall,’ ‘The Book of Clarence.’ So I just asked him would he come on to this, and he was like, ‘Yeah.’ So, we just ran with it.”

Stanfield also spoke about his friendship with Cudi and how the rapper ended up on the record. He considered Cudi to be a “great man and gracious artist,” adding, “He and I both speak out hearts — so I approached him with the record when revisiting it for official release. I’m grateful he joined me.”

He later confessed that Cudi had a “magnetism toward [‘Fast Life’]” and joked that he “did that verse in five [minutes].” Stanfield quipped, “I’ve never seen no s**t like that in my life […] He just hummed three different tunes. And he was like, ‘Yeah, all right, cool. You know I’m going to do this quick, right?’ And in five minutes, he was done […] I didn’t believe it at first. Then, I sat with it, and it’s one of the most beautiful aspects of the album now.”

This first iteration of his music is “all about getting through the hard s**t,” with Stanfield explaining: “When you can reflect, there’s a certain beauty to the struggle, and I talk about that in this first installation. As I move forward, I just grow and I progress […] And you coming with me on the journey because we all live a fast life. This s**t’s short.”

The full 18-minute visual will be out very soon, but for now, the four-minute teaser can be viewed above.
