Switch to low heels: The chic, comfortable fashion trend your feet will thank you for

There was a time when beauty meant pain and pain had a pointed toe and a five-inch stiletto. But thankfully, the era of limping stylishly through weddings and office parties is finally over. Fashion has officially fallen in love with comfort, and the comeback queen of the season? Low heels.

low heels trend(Pinterest)

Yes, you read that right! Low heels are having a major moment, and this time, it’s not your grandmother’s orthopedic pair. We’re talking kitten mules, block heels, flared sandals, and slingbacks that marry comfort with couture.

The fall of the Stiletto Heel

Stilettos had their reign. They strutted down red carpets, conquered boardrooms, and became a symbol of “power dressing”. But somewhere between post-pandemic practicality and the rise of all-day dressing, our feet collectively decided: enough is enough.

Low heels, once seen as “too sensible”, are now the smart girl’s answer to effortless glam. They bring the height without the hurt, the polish without the pinch, and they go from desk to dance floor without requiring a backup pair of flats in your tote bag.

The rise of the Kitten Heel:

The kitten heel has had one of the most stylish comebacks of the decade. Once reserved for Audrey Hepburn-esque elegance, it’s now the go-to for everyone who wants understated chic.

You’ll spot them in sleek slingbacks, metallic mules, and square-toe sandals, all of which pair beautifully with everything from tailored trousers to lehengas. The key is in the proportion: just enough lift to elongate your legs, but still stable enough to actually walk in.

Style tip: Pair pointed-toe kitten heels with straight-cut jeans or midi skirts. It adds a polished finish without screaming “formal.”

Block Heels: The new power pick:

For anyone who’s ever regretted wearing pencil-thin heels to a wedding, block heels are your redemption arc. They’re comfortable, balanced, and endlessly versatile. Be it a textured leather pair for work or a sequinned block sandal for a sangeet night, these are the shoes that go the distance.

Block heels also play well with Indian wear, they give you height without sinking into the ground during outdoor functions.

Style tip: Try a nude or metallic block heel with a saree or sharara for understated glam that won’t kill your feet halfway through the night.

The return of the Slingback:

The return of the Slingback:(Pinterest)
The return of the Slingback:(Pinterest)

The slingback heel is proof that minimalism never really goes out of style. Chic, refined, and a little retro, it’s the perfect blend of sophistication and ease.

For wedding guests, they’re the perfect pairing with cocktail sarees or pre-draped ensembles. For everyday wear, they add just the right amount of elegance to a blazer-and-denim combo.

Style tip: Look for slingbacks with a slightly flared heel or embellished buckle — small details that make them feel modern and festive.

Why fashion loves comfort now

After years of restrictive dressing and towering footwear, we’re collectively choosing ease over ego. Designers have responded, too with collections that prove comfort can still be couture. From Dior’s low-heeled J’Adior pumps to Amina Muaddi’s signature flared heels, the industry’s most stylish names are all leaning (comfortably) into this change.

It’s empowerment that doesn’t require a limp the next morning.

How to style low heels for every occasion:

Low heels may be practical, but they’re far from plain. Here’s how to wear them like a trend insider:

For weddings: Swap stilettos for low block heels with shimmer detailing. They pair beautifully with lehengas and sarees while keeping you dance-ready.

For work: Opt for closed-toe kitten heels or classic slingbacks. Pair them with wide-leg trousers or midi dresses for an instant polish.

For brunch: Strappy low-heeled sandals in pastel shades; they add height, comfort, and that easy-breezy vibe.

For parties: Metallic mules with sculpted heels; festive, photogenic, and surprisingly foot-friendly.

Pro tip: If you’re unsure about heel height, 1.5 to 2 inches is the sweet spot, it gives lift without compromising comfort.

What’s refreshing about the low heel trend is that it doesn’t apologise for being practical. It redefines what feminine power dressing looks like in 2025 confident, grounded, and graceful.

Gone are the days when “sensible shoes” meant boring. Today’s low heels come with square toes, jewel embellishments, sculptural shapes, and luxurious materials, proof that comfort and style can happily co-exist.

Kendall Jenner’s Fashion Evolution

by jummy84 November 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Kendall Jenner is no longer, as her sister Kylie Jenner put it, just “basically 30.”

The model officially celebrates the milestone birthday Nov. 3.

If you’ve been keeping up, then you know the past year has been a big one for Kendall. Especially professionally, with the reality star continuing to rule the runway at events like Vogue World and Paris Fashion Week. She’s also kept busy running her alcohol brand 818 Tequila and starring in the seventh season of her family’s show The Kardashians.

Not that she sees herself showcasing her life on the small screen forever. As she told Vogue for its October cover story, “It’s not my biggest cup of tea.”

In fact, Kendall could see herself strutting towards an entirely different career one day.

“I swear to God, I’m going to stop everything and just design homes,” she continued. “I’m not kidding.”

When she’s not working, Kendall enjoys riding her horses, hanging out with friends and family, spending time outdoors and practicing wellness techniques.

“I think I’m definitely someone who aspires to live a really simple life one day,” she told Vogue in a May 2024 video. “I realize I don’t have that now. I’m grateful for what I have now, and I’m happy about that still, and I enjoy every moment, but I enjoy the simple things.”

Granny Print Is the Next Grandma-Inspired Fashion Trend Emerging in 2025

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Let it be known: The granny print will triumph in the coming months.

In the world of fashion, few things please us more than reliving a nostalgic moment. That’s why new—or not so new—styles that your mother and grandmother have seen before are constantly emerging. Although the codes are reinvented, the essence almost always remains the same. This is the case with one of the trends that’s taking off among fashion insiders: the granny print, or grandmother-inspired print.

What do we mean by this? That typical floral print on jacquard fabric that you’d find in a grandmother’s living room in the 70s. Yes, that’s right. That fabric, which you might see on sofa textiles and cushions—or even wallpaper—is what you’ll be wearing in the coming months.

We say this with certainty: Just look at Suki Waterhouse’s latest look at the New York premiere of the film Die My Love. The singer made a rare appearance with her partner, Robert Pattinson, who stars in director Lynne Ramsay’s upcoming film alongside Jennifer Lawrence–who wore an elegant Dior dress designed by Jonathan Anderson.

For the occasion, Waterhouse chose a dress from Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen’s Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear collection. The dress features a bodice that embraces this trend, which we’ve recently seen in other releases, such as the new collection from marÀvic, the brand by Victoria and Alba, two sisters from Zaragoza, that’s a hit on Instagram.

Burgundy edit: The colour that’s defining fall season fashion trends this year

by jummy84 October 31, 2025
written by jummy84

Every year when fall rolls around, our wardrobes go through a bit of an identity crisis. Suddenly, your summer florals look too chipper, your blacks feel too soon, and you’re caught somewhere between “it’s chilly” and “why am I still sweating in this sweater?” That’s when burgundy walks in, like that friend who just gets it. It’s deep without being dreary, bold without being loud, and rich enough to make your outfit look like it came straight out of a coffee-table fashion book.

burgundy fashion(Pinterest)

Here are 10 reasons to prove why burgundy is the most wearable, mood-lifting colour of the season and how to make it work for everything from office days to wedding nights.

1. It’s the ultimate transitional shade

Fall fashion is tricky. It’s all about balance, and burgundy does that perfectly. It has the depth of winter tones but the warmth of summer’s leftovers. That means your burgundy blazer, midi dress, or wide-leg trousers can easily work for early autumn brunches and late-December dinners.

Style tip: Pair a burgundy corduroy jacket with beige or camel trousers for a sleek day look, and swap in a leather skirt or dark jeans for evening plans. The colour transitions effortlessly, so your outfit doesn’t have to.

2. It feels luxe without trying too hard

Burgundy is a shade that whispers “expensive.” Maybe it’s because it sits right between jewel tones and neutrals, elegant without shouting for attention. Be it in velvet, silk, or suede, it instantly elevates even the most basic outfit.

Style tip: For workwear, a burgundy satin blouse with gold hoops. For date night? A deep wine-toned slip dress and minimal jewellery.

3. It’s made for textures

Some colours get lost when layered, but not burgundy. It thrives in texture play. These can include chunky knits, leather pants, or ribbed sweaters in wine hues that add dimension to your outfit.

Style tip: Mix textures within the same tone, say, a wool coat over a satin shirt with matte boots. Burgundy’s depth makes layering fun instead of fussy. Bonus: it looks incredible in both natural and artificial light.

4. It flatters everyone

No gatekeeping here, burgundy suits every skin tone. So, if you’re warm, cool, or neutral, this shade brings out natural warmth without washing you out. It’s why makeup artists, too, swear by wine-toned lipsticks and nail shades for fall.

Style tip: If you’re hesitant, start small. Add a burgundy scarf, beanie, or handbag. You’ll be surprised how quickly it becomes your favourite accent colour.

5. It’s a mood-setter

While summer is about carefree brightness, fall calls for depth. Burgundy brings that it’s dramatic, romantic, and just the right amount of moody. It instantly makes any outfit look more polished and thought-out, even if you just threw it on while running late.

Style tip: Add burgundy accessories to break up an all-neutral outfit. A maroon belt, a deep wine hat, or ankle boots add personality without being overpowering.

6. It plays well with other colours

You’d think such a strong colour would be hard to style but burgundy is surprisingly versatile. It pairs beautifully with neutrals like beige, cream, or grey, and also complements navy, blush, and olive.

Style tip: If you love colour, try pairing burgundy with dusty pink for a chic monochrome vibe or with mustard for a rich fall palette that feels editorial yet wearable.

7. It’s festive but not flashy

When the festive season rolls in, everyone reaches for red and gold. Burgundy gives you a more sophisticated alternative, it’s rich enough to feel celebratory without being OTT. Perfect for Diwali dinners, fall weddings, or even a Christmas brunch.

Style tip: A burgundy kurta set with antique gold jewellery is the ideal festive balance between subtle and statement.

8. It’s the grown-up red

Burgundy is red’s more refined sister, it’s still bold, but with restraint. It’s confident without being loud, and passionate without being predictable. Perfect for anyone in their “quiet luxury” era.

Style tip: Replace your usual red lip or red dress with a deeper, wine-hued version this season. Same impact, just with more maturity and mystery.

9. It translates across fabrics

Unlike some trendy colours that only look good in one texture, burgundy is universally flattering, from velvet to denim, leather to lace. It adapts to your mood and occasion.

Style tip: Invest in a statement burgundy coat or boots. They’ll tie together your fall wardrobe and make you look instantly styled, no matter what’s underneath.

10. It’s timeless not trendy

Burgundy is a recurring classic. It shows up every fall and somehow feels new each time. So, if you invest in a few good burgundy pieces, they’ll always have a place in your wardrobe rotation.

Style tip: Go for timeless silhouettes such as trench coats, turtlenecks, or midi skirts in this shade. You’ll re-wear them season after season.

The next time you’re torn between dressing practical and Pinterest-worthy, just remember: throw on a bit of burgundy. You’ll look warm, chic, and like you’ve got autumn completely under control, even if you’re still sweating under that “light” sweater.

The Best Minimalist Glasses, According to a Fashion Editor

by jummy84 October 30, 2025
written by jummy84

The trend for minimalism is not only going strong. It’s coming for every part of your closet. From bags to shoes, sleek and pared-back designs are classic mainstays that never go out of style. The latest way it’s cropping up is right on our faces—in the form of streamlined, no-frame or wire-frame eyewear.

These styles are “an evolution of the quiet luxury wave,” said Cristina Calciati, who works in trends and foresight at the eyewear company EssilorLuxottica, which owns brands like Ray-Ban and Persol. “[It’s] a minimal, understated, and hyperwearable look that doesn’t sacrifice details.”

“This trend lives and breathes in a bigger scenario of very nostalgic comebacks mostly rooted in the ’90s and Y2K, especially as younger Gen Z, in particular, rediscovers those eras,” added Sofia-Marie Best, who also works at the company.

Indeed, this look easily recalls that era, and futuristic-chic, modernist brands like Prada and Armani leaned heavily into elegantly understated eyewear designs. Giorgio Armani was especially fond of them, and his recent passing may spur a new interest in them.

The trend easily crosses the gender divide, as evidenced by the excitement around the demure wire-rimmed eyewear Jonathan Bailey sports in the latest Jurassic Park film. Bailey cheekily called them “slutty little glasses” on the red carpet and later banked on that phrase’s virality by releasing a pair with the eyewear brand Cubitts, which benefited LGBTQ+ causes.

Funnily, Bailey hits on a fascinating tension that these styles possess: They’re both sexy and slightly nerdy. They often conjure images of librarians and studious pupils, but there’s a frisson of flirtation to them as well.

The other night, I happened to bump into a friend of mine—Renatto Balladares, a concept designer at Gap—and he was wearing a pair. “It’s a streamlined, sophisticated look,” he told me. “But it has to be authentic. It can’t be, like, ‘office siren.'”

“Plus,” he added, “it’s good for hiding bags under your eyes.”

The trend is a response to oversize, statement-making wraparound shades (think Charli XCX’s Brat summer shades), but it also exists at the same time as them. “While many consumers are into big and bold plastic frames—a style that really ruled the market for many years—others are now more drawn toward minimalism and lightness,” said Calciati.

“On top of that, the no-frame constructions are perfect to enhance tinted lenses—another big trend of the moment exploding for men,” added Best.

When you’re thinking about that finishing touch to your fall and winter outfits, barely-there eyewear just may be the perfect thing.

10 Fall Pedicure Colors Fashion People Are Wearing in 2025

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

In my humble opinion, there’s nothing chicer than showing off a sleek, fall pedicure. Sure, boots, loafers, and other closed-toe footwear options may take up the majority of your closet real estate, but on the occasions when you do let the dogs out (a trendy peep-toe moment, perhaps?), an autumn-coded polish makes you look instantly put-together. See, fall nail colors naturally ooze sophistication; there’s nothing like a coat of black cherry, charcoal gray, or chocolate brown lacquer to add an expensive-looking touch to any outfit.

Pedicure choices, however, do slightly differ in that they tend to be a tad more daring. Many beauty lovers (self included) typically opt for a classic neutral on their fingertips but feel more inclined to play with their toe polish. Think rich browns, inky blues, and, of course, bold, deep reds. I personally can’t wait to explore these hues, so I consulted experts on the top pedicure color trends for fall 2025. Ahead, find the 10 shades I’ve bookmarked for my next appointment.

Deep Wine

“Fall [nail] colors typically mimic the rich browns and mid-toned reds of fallen leaves,” explains L.A.-based manicurist Bana Jarjour. “This year we’re seeing those shades in their darkest forms.” Case in point: this deep bordeaux from celebrity nail artist Iram Shelton that’s already taking over the fashion set. Diamond anklet optional.

Espresso Brown

As Jarjour mentioned, rich browns are also poised to dominate fall pedis (makeup looks, too, if you’re curious!). Opt for a deep espresso like London-based pedicurist Milly Mason here, who made the look even chicer by opting for a glossy, high-shine finish.

Shop the Trend:

Inky Navy

Photo of @beautyby_lola with an inky blue pedicure

According to nail artist Evelyn Lim, chief educator at MiniLuxe’s Paintbox studio, inky navy will be a big hit this fall. Think midnight blues so deep they could almost pass for black. The timeless color is seeing quite the buzz in the fashion space—from sweaters to polo tops to button-downs and dresses—so it makes sense we’d see the trend translate over to toe polish.

Shop the Trend:

Burnished Metallics

Photo of Milly Mason with a burnished metallic pedicure

Per Lim, burnished metallics are also having a major moment. Either select a bronze or gunmetal polish, like Mason did above, or you can simply add a shimmery chrome topper to your favorite neutral shade. “Shimmery neutrals inspired by seasonal drinks are buzzy [looks] clients are loving right now,” Lim adds, naming “espresso martini” and “oat milk latte” as two of the most popular.

Shop the Trend:

Smoky Rose

Photo of Milly Mason with a smoky rose pedicure

Not a fan of gold nails? Not a problem. Just add that shimmery topper over your favorite blush lacquer for what Lim calls a “smoky rose” pedicure. “[It’s] replacing flat neutrals for a softer, more dimensional look,” she shares.

“I’ve noticed black polish has started to make its way back,” declares Jarjour. “While there are loyal yearlong fans, the shade isn’t always a staple for everyone.” For those who may have shied away from onyx in the past, now is the perfect time to hop on the black polish bandwagon.

Evergreen

Consider a dark, forest green the counterpart to burgundy. Like the deep red, an evergreen polish allows you to play with color while keeping your overall look understated. If you’re bored of neutrals, I (plus Lim) can’t recommend a glossy green enough—especially as we wait for Wicked: For Good to finally hit the theaters.

Gray-Toned Lilac

According to Lim, muted lilac-grays are “having a subtle moment.” You might associate a creamy periwinkle hue with the spring and summer months, but the cooler undertones make it the perfect fall pick. Just be sure to choose a polish with gray undertones so it doesn’t read too purple.

Shop the Trend:

Barely There French

Both Lim and Jarjour agree: Baby-French pedis are becoming increasingly popular. “Runways have been showing a thinner, barely there French tip, which I think we’ll start to see as the months cool down,” Jarjour adds. Beauty trends are born during fashion month, after all. I can’t think of anything chicer than a ’90s micro-French pedi, so this is one I’ll surely be copying all season.

Old Navy x Anna Sui Collab Blends Two 90s Fashion Icons

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Calling all fashion lovers because the nineties… and seventies… and sixties called, and they want to be back inside your closets. Luckily, New York-based fashion designer Anna Sui was tapped by Old Navy for its first-ever designer collaboration — fronted by Y2K-coded singer-songwriter PinkPantheress.

“Anna really understands who our customer is, what she wants, how she lives, and we knew this was an amazing moment to bring that,” Zac Posen, creative director of Gap Inc. and chief creative officer of Old Navy, tells Refinery29. “Anna is a design and style icon, and I thought to bring that to another nineties icon, Old Navy, made perfect sense to launch this.”

Known for “her whimsy, her magic, her cool, and her rock ‘n’ roll energy,” in the words of Posen, Sui’s Almost Famous Penny Lane-meets-witchy Stevie Nicks aesthetic is on full display with this “Bohemian collection.” Think: faux fur Afghan coats (aka Penny Lane coats), lace cardigans, floral dusters, and satin slip skirts (one of Sui’s favorite styles),

But we’re not just swooning over the styles… we’re also thrilled about the prices. “There’s a lot of Anna Sui DNA incorporated into this collection, but made with the expertise of Old Navy, and into very accessible, affordable pieces,” Sui tells Refinery29 about the collection, which ranges between a $10 floral headscarf and $120 vegan suede coat.
