Exclusive: Mona Singh & Kunaal Roy Kapur on Thode Door Thode Paas: “It’ll Help Families Reflect…”

Mona Singh and Kunaal Roy Kapur recently sat with Filmfare for a heartwarming chat about their show Thode Door Thode Paas. The actors opened up about the slice-of-life family series. It is all about heartwarming moments amid the family’s decision to go for a digital detox.

Mona said, “I’ve always liked drama. I love slice of life stories. These stories help you sit with your family. They are no brainers. You just have a good time. They make you reflect on your life. You ask the important questions like ‘What are you doing?’ ‘Where are you headed?’ You start setting your priorities and boundaries right. You value family life and family time. As an actor, it is also our social responsibility to be a part of these shows. In these, people get inspired to take charge of their life and do something different.”

She further shared, “The characters have left an emotional impact on people. And it’s very rare that actors get the opportunity to do that. So we’ve both been very fortunate in that way. Some of the projects we’ve been a part of have actually changed the way people think. They have helped people introspect and understand the direction in which they are going.”

Agreeing to Mona, Kunaal added, “And I think that this show, Thode Door Thode Paas is also the one that will help with take a little pause. It’ll help families sit and reflect on the relationship they have with social media and the internet. They will try to understand their relationship with digital mass media. I’m just happy to be a part of these kinds of projects which stay a little bit longer in people’s minds.”

A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Dialogues: A Glimpse Into The Past Of Westeros’ Most Iconic Families | Glamsham.com

Westeros fans, rejoice — HBO has finally released the first trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the latest Game of Thrones spin-off. The teaser premiered at a special panel at New York Comic Con, where the cast and author George R.R. Martin attended to talk about the eagerly awaited series.

Coming from Martin’s popular The Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, the show is 100 years prior to Game of Thrones and 100 years after House of the Dragon. The show tracks Ser Duncan the Tall — a simple, chivalrous, and somewhat innocent knight — and his improbable squire, a clever youth known as Egg, who has an unexpected secret.

Former Irish rugby player Peter Claffey plays the part of Ser Duncan, with Dexter Sol Ansell playing Egg. The show takes viewers back to a different time in Westeros, one where the Targaryen rule still holds, and the last dragon has not yet disappeared from living memory.

Unlike its predecessors, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms promises to be lighter. Described as having a “buddy comedy” feel, the show is notable for having more character interactions and personal quests than epic battles. Even Martin has said the series might not please those looking for constant action — but he defends it as one of his favorites.

The all-star cast features Daniel Ings in the role of Ser Lyonel Baratheon, Bertie Carvel playing Baelor Targaryen, Danny Webb as Ser Arlan of Pennytree, Sam Spruell in the role of Maekar Targaryen, and others. With a special combination of heart, humor, and lore-bountiful storytelling, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms may provide a welcome new installment in the Game of Thrones franchise.

World Alzheimer’s Day 2025: Psychiatrist shares 6 tips for families taking care of their loved ones with Alzheimer’s

World Alzheimer’s Day 2025: While 21 September is observed as an awareness day for the progressive neurodegenerative disease, the day also serves to support caregivers. Often, family members and friends act as caregivers as their loved ones struggle with the symptoms of Alzheimer’s, like memory loss, confusion, and eventually a loss of independence, completely relying on the caregivers.

Family and friends who are caregivers may also need support.

As family and friends step into the role of caregivers, their mental health too takes a toll, from the physical exhaustion of constant responsibilities to the emotional heartbreak of seeing their loved one lose memory and fail to recognise them. Moreover, with the weakening cognitive functions of the patients, caregivers also may struggle to communicate at times.

Dr Paramvir Singh, Psychiatrist at Antara Memory Care Home, a dementia care facility, shared with HT Lifestyle that Alzheimer’s disease affects caregivers as much as it affects patients

He said, “For patients, in addition to memory loss, the disease progresses, resulting in confusion, disorientation, and a gradual loss of independence in everyday tasks. As communication becomes difficult, the inability to clearly express needs or understand others results in frustration, withdrawal, and isolation. Sleep disturbances like ‘sundowning’ and physical decline increase risks of falls, infections, and difficulties with eating or mobility.”

Families caring for people with Alzheimer’s often face stress, fatigue, and emotional overload. The issues which may arise, as noted by the psychiatrist, include burnout, chronic fatigue, social isolation, disrupted sleep patterns and even hypertension. To cope with the stress, many caregivers indulge in unhealthy habits like smoking.

Here are some of the suggestions Dr Paramvir Singh revealed that help to improve communication, ease distress and support both the patient and caregiver:

1. Simplify communication with the patient

  • Alzheimer’s impairs attention span, working memory, and the ability to process complex speech.
  • Short, clear sentences, repetition of key points, and giving time for responses can reduce confusion and agitation, making daily interactions smoother.

2. Validate emotions before correcting facts

  • When memory fails, arguments over “what’s real” often provoke distress. Validating what the person is feeling, even if their recall is inaccurate, helps maintain mood stability.
  • Emotional validation reduces anxiety and behavioural outbursts by anchoring communication in feelings rather than facts.

3. Establish a consistent routine and structure

  • Because procedural memory (habits and routines) often lasts longer than memory for facts and events, regular schedules for waking, meals, bathing, and sleeping help orient the person and lower anxiety.
  • Predictability reduces cognitive load and builds comfort.

4. Use non-verbal communication channels

  • As verbal skills decline, tone of voice, eye contact, touch, and facial expressions remain powerful.
  • These non-verbal cues rely on preserved neural pathways and can convey safety, reassurance, and connection even when words fail.

5. Understand and address care navigation stressors

  • For caregivers of patients with Alzheimer’s disease, managing appointments, coordinating across multiple doctors, and finding the right specialists are some of the most reported stressors. Many also struggle to secure timely help or take much-needed breaks.
  • Creating structured care plans, using shared calendars, or having access to a dedicated care coordinator can ease the associated overwhelm.

6. Prioritise caregiver support and self-care

  • Many caregivers report difficulty accessing respite care or support systems that allow them to rest. Without breaks, the risk of burnout intensifies, leading to worse outcomes for both caregiver and patient.
  • Structure can help caregivers, too; add short daily walks to your routine and set reminders for 15-minute relaxation breaks.
  • Proactively seeking respite services, support groups, or counselling is not indulgence; it is essential for sustaining care over the long term.

Shah Rukh Khan’s charitable organisation, the Meer Foundation, has stepped up to provide vital assistance to families affected by the recent devastating floods in Punjab. In partnership with local NGOs, the foundation has launched a comprehensive relief effort, reaching 1,500 households across districts, including Amritsar, Patiala, Fazilka, and Firozpur.

The aid packages comprise essential medicines, hygiene items, food supplies, mosquito nets, tarpaulins, foldable beds, cotton mattresses, and other critical necessities. This initiative aims to address immediate health and safety needs while also supporting long-term rebuilding efforts, helping families restore their lives with dignity.

Celebrities Responding To Flood Relief In Punjab

Punjab is facing one of its most severe flood crises in recent history, with rising waters from the Beas, Satluj, Ravi, and Ghaggar rivers displacing thousands. The disaster has sparked an outpouring of support from the entertainment and sports communities, with many celebrities contributing resources for relief and recovery.

Salman Khan’s Being Human sent 5 lifeboats to rescue the affected families. Akshay Kumar has committed Rs 5 crore, calling his contribution “seva” rather than charity. Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh has donated 10 boats to assist rescue efforts, while his wife Geeta Basra has been actively distributing supplies on the ground.

Punjabi artist and actor Ammy Virk is working to reconstruct 200 homes for displaced families, even postponing the release of his upcoming film. Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has adopted 10 villages in the Majha region, focusing on sustainable solutions like solar power and essential supplies for long-term rehabilitation. Sonu Sood has urged his followers to donate generously, with his sister Malvika leading on-the-ground relief activities.

What Happened In The Punjab Floods?

The floods in Punjab in 2025 began intensely in late August, between August 26 and 29, triggered by heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir that caused the rivers Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, and Ghaggar to overflow. This resulted in flooding in districts such as Ferozepur, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, and Kapurthala, submerging farmland and homes. By August 29, more than 1,000 villages were submerged. The situation worsened in early September due to continuous rainfall and controlled releases from dams, affecting all 23 districts. This has been described as the most severe flood in Punjab since 1988.
