Art exhibition brings Australian indigenous stories to the city

The capital received a vibrant dose of Australian First Nations culture on Friday as Songlines: Tracking the Seven Sisters opened at the Humayun’s Tomb Museum.

Songlines: Tracking the Seven Sisters (Raajessh kashyap)

The exhibition presents five sections of Indigenous Western and Central Desert songlines through nearly 300 paintings, objects, song, dance, photography, and multimedia. It tells the story of the Seven Sisters, or the Pleiades star cluster, fleeing across the desert while pursued by a powerful, shape-shifting male Ancestor linked to Orion. At the heart of the exhibition is the Songline, a spiritual and physical map defining sacred landscapes and preserving Tjukurrpa, or Aboriginal law, history, and survival knowledge. The journey spans three Indigenous lands: the APY (Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara) people in the central desert, the Ngaanyatjarra in the west, and the Martu in north-west Australia.

“Australia has three main stories” said Philip Green, adding, “Settlers from Britain, migrants, and our Indigenous people, whose culture has thrived for 65,000 years. This exhibition brings that history, art, and tradition to life.”

One of the highlights of the evening was the immersive dome theatre that showcased animated paintings. The exhibition runs from 22 November 2025 to 1 March 2026.

Hyve enters global top 10 exhibition organisers list

by jummy84 September 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Hyve are proud to share that they have entered the coveted list of Top 10 exhibition organisers worldwide by revenue, according to the newly published STAX 2024 rankings.

In just one year, Hyve has climbed from 15th place to 8th, a significant leap that underlines the strength of our strategy and execution. Even more notably, we have been ranked #1 in year-on-year growth, having almost doubled our revenues – a clear marker of our defining strategy, building momentum and industry-leading performance. Total growth between 2019 and 2024 was a huge 96% organically on a pro forma basis.

This success reflects a combination of:

  • Organic performance: running outstanding events that deliver results, continuing to digitise by rolling out tech-enabled products such as meeting programmes and table talks, launching new events at scale, optimising systems and data, and embedding best practice in areas such as sales, marketing, and pricing.
  • Strategic acquisitions: entering high-growth end markets and applying our proven strategies and operating model to accelerate performance.

This balance has created a trajectory that is both sustainable and scalable.

Mark Shashoua, CEO, said: “Our rise is not only a story of numbers, but of vision, discipline, and culture. By combining bold decision-making with relentless customer focus, we have become one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing organisers, partnering with the world’s leading companies.”

And this is just the beginning. With our GO27 roadmap, Hyve is set for continued growth and further acceleration, building on a model that has already been proven to deliver time and again.

Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather Jr. To Share The Ring In Exhibition Match

One of boxing’s biggest “what if” moments is becoming a reality, as living legends Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have agreed to face off in an exhibition match next spring.

Mayweather, who finished his professional boxing career with an undefeated 50-0 record, spoke on the anticipated event with much confidence. “I’ve been doing this for 30 years, and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy,” he said in a statement. “You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”

The 48-year-old retired in 2017 after his notable win against Conor McGregor and has since performed in eight exhibitions, including the highly publicized match with Logan Paul, which ended without a declared winner.

As for Tyson, the 59-year-old last stepped into the ring in 2024 against Jake Paul, drawing in 65,000,000 viewers on Netflix. Though he lost by unanimous decision, the event made history as the most-streamed sporting event ever.

“When CSI came to me about stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather, I thought, ‘No way this happens,’ but Floyd said yes,” Tyson revealed to ESPN. “This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable — and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets. I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this. It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening!”

The weight difference between the two champions alone makes this fight a spectacle worth watching. Reportedly, Tyson came in at 228.4 pounds against Paul, while Mayweather weighed just 160.8 in his exhibition with John Gotti III, last year.

“Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather are two of the most compelling names and personalities, with lasting legacies, in all of sports. They are 21st-century icons,” CSI Sports co-founders Richard and Craig Miele said in a statement. “Tyson vs. Mayweather will break every broadcast, streaming, and economic record set by Mike Tyson in 2024. We are planning a robust promotional campaign complete with weekly premium storytelling and worldwide marketing reach.”

They added, “The event itself will be in a world-class venue and be presented to a global audience with new in-ring technology elements that will reshape how boxing is presented, and scoring is achieved, for years to come.”

The CSI Sports/Fight Sports-produced event has not released an exact date or location, but in the meantime the anticipation for the main event continues to build.

Art Diary: This exhibition in Delhi pays tribute to late Pratap Deb's artistic oeuvre spanning seven decades

Art Diary: This exhibition in Delhi pays tribute to late Pratap Deb’s artistic oeuvre spanning seven decades

Once an artist, always an artist. The statement holds true for late artist Pratap Deb, whose spirit guides his upcoming solo exhibition titled Unveiled: Pratap Deb. The Artist. His Art. His Journey.

Disparate Journeys, is one of the 40 artworks that will be displayed as part of Pratap Deb’s debut solo show.

Deb, who began his career as a graphic designer and later worked as a government employee, was little known outside close circles for his bold and well-defined canvases — works that took a back seat amid the demands of life.

“He graduated from Government College of Art and Craft, Calcutta, in 1956 and had a remarkable journey spanning seven decades of artistic creations. In fact, his peers included renowned artists such as Ganesh Haloi and Sakti Burman, who remember him for his brilliant artworks during their academic days,” shares his son, Shubhendu Deb. His wife Valarie adds, “My father-in-law was always very passionate about his art. We used to see him painting at the Lalit Kala Akademi’s Garhi studio. It’s only after we lost him in 2021 that we discovered so many canvases in the studio. When we took these for restoration and saw people admiring his work, we decided to revive his dream to have this exhibition. It’s our gift to him.”

Known for his evocative visual language that blended realism, symbolism, and social narrative, Deb has left behind a compelling body of work. This exhibition will showcase more than 40 original pieces created by him. These will include oils, acrylics, drawings and mixed media canvases, which will all be displayed for public viewing for the first time ever.

Artist-curator Oroon Das, who has designed the show, adds, “That I hadn’t heard of him, became astonishing the moment I came into contact with Deb’s surviving body of work: European style oil portraits from the early 50s to cubist constructions… His apparent lightness had me caring for what he had left behind. He was a rasik, alive to poetic possibility as a present continuous.”

One look at the painting titled Blossomed, an acrylic on canvas, and the expressive eyes of the flower woman are sure to captivate the onlooker. In stark contrast is his painting style in Three Graces, another acrylic on canvas. It’s interesting to notice and study how Deb swiftly altered his style, from one canvas to another, thus leaving viewers perplexed about his thoughts behind creating these artworks and his inspiration.

“Pratap Deb’s legacy belongs to the stream of consciousness we inherit as the trait of modernism; to understand the art of this land and to know ourselves in this world,” opines Das, adding, “But that’s probably not why I find myself captured by him. There’s something moving about his anonymous glide of marking time with imagination, consistently.
