Wedge Boots Are the Most Comfortable Shoe for Everyday Wear (Without Giving Up Heels)

by jummy84 November 1, 2025

Wedge boots are that rare perfect compromise between elegant and everyday comfort. We often resort to high heels when we want to make an outfit look dressy and special, but then they end up destroying our feet as the hours go by. There’s no doubt that a great heel or platform can do a lot for a look, especially for those of us on the shorter side, but I don’t think anyone truly believes they’re ever as comfortable as a pair of sneakers.

However, there is a solution for a shoe that is both elevated and easy to walk in. They’re an old acquaintance, too: wedge boots. Yes, the shoes you probably loved in the 2010s are back on trend. Get them in black, brown, or white so they go with everything—you’ll get a great cost per wear, because these are the kind of shoes that can last from 9 to 9 (and beyond). They offer an elegant silhouette and stylish accent to any outfit, but they’re decidedly more practical for walking than any heel in your closet.

What made the wedge boot such a must-have back then remains it’s biggest selling point now: Unlike a thin heel, which concentrates all the pressure on the front of the foot, a wedge distributes the weight evenly and allows each step to feel more stable even with the height. We’re seeing them everywhere in street style looks, but they’re also practical for everyday wear too. Wear them to the office with a satin skirt or out to a party with friends with trendy lace tights and shorts.

You can find these boots at most major retailers, no matter your price point, but we also shopped out a few of our favorites from online for you below.

US doctor reveals 6 simple everyday habits that have surprising health benefits: ‘Helps with reflux, can prevent…’

Small, simple habits can sometimes have outsized effects on your health, often in ways you wouldn’t expect. From stepping outside in the morning sun to taking a few minutes for deep breathing, everyday actions can boost mood, improve blood sugar control, and even support better sleep.

Dr Kunal Sood, an anesthesiologist and interventional pain medicine expert, has outlined such everyday habits that have surprising health benefits. In an Instagram video posted on October 3, the doctor reveals six daily habits you can practice every day – ranging from walking after meals to taking cold showers – and explains why they are beneficial.

Cold showers improve mood

According to Dr Sood, cold exposure can trigger a surge of norepinephrine, which lifts mood and increases alertness. He explains, “Trials show hot-to-cold showers can reduce self-reported sick days and raise perceived energy. Evidence for depression is limited but promising.”

Walking after meals balance glucose spike

Dr Sood suggests that walking for 10 to 30 meals after eating meals helps balance glucose spikes. It also “helps with reflux, and can prevent post-meal drops in blood pressure in older adults. Best results come from short walks spread throughout the day.”

Lifting weights lowers insulin

The doctor highlights, “Resistance training increases GLUT4 transporters in muscle, improving insulin sensitivity and lowering HbA1c in type 2 diabetes.” This lowers insulin levels and Dr Sood also adds, “More muscle mass also enhances glucose handling and body composition.”

Morning sun improves sleep

Exposure to bright sunlight in the morning helps regulate your circadian rhythm. Dr Sood, “Bright light in the morning helps anchor your circadian rhythm, making it easier to fall asleep at night.” Additionally, he also mentions studies that suggest exposure to sunlight benefits office workers, and those struggling with insomnia, delayed sleep phase, and chronic pain.

Deep breaths lower blood pressure

According to Dr Sood, slow breathing – approximately six breaths per minute – reduces activity of the sympathetic nervous system and improves blood pressure control. He suggests, “Practicing daily for 10-15 minutes can lower systolic pressure by 3-8 mmHg on average.”

Standing for 5 minutes hourly has many benefits

Dr Sood points out, “Breaking up long sitting periods with light walking or standing improves blood sugar, insulin, and blood pressure. Walking is best, especially after meals, as it engages the calf muscles and boosts circulation.”

AIIMS gastroenterologist shares 3 everyday household items to throw away immediately: Scented candles to non-stick pans

Even everyday kitchen items can hide health risks. AIIMS gastroenterologist highlights 3 common household products that should be discarded immediately.

Even in clean, well-kept homes, hidden health hazards can lurk in everyday items. Some seemingly harmless products may irritate your gut or affect overall wellness. Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford Universities, shares in his September 12 Instagram post 3 toxic household items to throw away immediately. (Also read: AIIMS gastroenterologist warns ‘don’t spend more than 10 minutes on toilet’; shares 8 simple tips for healthy gut )

1. Regular scented candles

“Many of these contain phthalates, which can disrupt hormones, and paraffin wax, which can release soot and VOCs when burned,” says Dr Saurabh. He adds, “These chemicals can aggravate allergies, respiratory issues, and even impact gut health over time.” Quoting some better options, he suggests, “unscented soy, coconut, or beeswax candles, which are cleaner-burning and safer for daily use.”

2. Plastic cutting boards

“Knife marks can shed tiny plastic particles into your food. The risk builds up over years of use,” says Dr Sethi. He explains that these microplastics can accumulate in the body and potentially affect long-term health. Better options, he adds, are well-maintained wood or bamboo boards. “Glass is hygienic but dulls knives quickly, so it’s not always practical,” he notes.

3. Scratched or chipped non-stick pans

“Older pans often use PFOA, which is linked to reproductive and hormonal issues. Modern non-stick pans are PFOA-free but scratches can still release microscopic coating particles plus any additives trapped inside,” says Dr Sethi. He recommends safer alternatives, sharing, “Stainless steel, cast iron, or pure ceramic cookware are much better options for everyday cooking and long-term health.”

Jugnuma review: Manoj Bajpayee soars in Raam Reddy’s dreamscape where magic meets everyday life

The first thing that hooks you to The Fable (releasing in India as Jugnuma) is the opening frame itself. Shot on film, a rarity today, it immediately sets the mood. Glossy widescreen frames may look impressive, but when the setting is the 1980s, the masterstroke lies in the choice of format. The grainy texture of the stock suits a story that calls itself a fable, and the makers are careful not to smooth it over. The effect is a sense of magic and story coming alive.

The film’s unique cinematography and authentic performances create a captivating story about family and the environment.

What is Jugnuma about?

Jugnuma is not a run-of-the-mill film. The only familiar presence is Manoj Bajpayee, whose mainstream success in the OTT world has given him the freedom to experiment. Raam Reddy’s film benefits immensely from that. Viewers may arrive for Manoj, but they stay for Raam’s storytelling. The film follows Dev (Manoj), an orchard owner in Himachal who lives happily with his wife and two children. One day, part of his orchard is torched. Suspicion falls on the villagers tasked with guarding it at night. What happens next is the rest of the film.

Movie Review

Jugnuma

Jugnuma

Rating Star 3/5

The film follows a Himachal orchard owner living with his wife and children, whose orchard is partly torched, putting suspicion on the night guards.

Cast

Manoj Bajpayee, Priyanka Bose

Verdict

Jugnuma reveals that a fable is less about magic and more about the truths woven into daily life, leaving behind questions, images, and a mood that lingers well past its runtime.

There is a plot, but the film does not rush. It prefers to let events unfold at their own pace, aided by touches of magic realism. Early on, Dev dons a pair of enormous wings he has built himself and soars into the sky. Magic is part of everyday life here.

The nuances stand out. A video camera, first introduced innocently as Dev’s youngest child runs around excitedly with it, turns the viewer into a lens. Later, the same camera offers a final glimpse of what may have happened to the family, which disappears without trace. Man’s battle with the environment is also a recurring theme.

A stunning picture

The visuals themselves, crafted by cinematographer Sunil Borkar, a former national-level shooter, are fascinating. A look into how the film was made, and the awards it has already won, is enough to leave anyone impressed, do give it a read on Wikipedia.

Among the performances, Manoj is so good at slipping into his characters that it hardly feels like acting. He is Dev. Priyanka Bose complements him perfectly as his wife. With half the cast drawn from real villagers trained on location, the story gains an added sense of authenticity. Deepak Dobriyal, as Dev’s manager and the narrator, does his part well.

Overall, Jugnuma shows that a fable is not just about magic but about the truths hidden within the everyday. It leaves you with questions, images, and a mood that lingers far longer than the runtime.

Nutritionist lists 5 everyday foods to keep us going all day: Complex carbs to hydration champions | Health

A healthy diet does not consist of fancy dishes; it is all about the perfect balance in nutrition and finding the simplest food items that can provide us that.

A balanced diet that includes vegetables, proteins and more is important. (Shutterstock)

In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Prachi Jain, chief clinical nutritionist, CK Birla Hospital, Gurugram said, “Basic function of food is to give energy which is required to fulfill our daily day to day activities but eating right and safe food is an art of living. Be mindful while selecting your food options to stay active and healthy. Choose locally grown food, seasonal food, which are readily available at affordable prices.” Also read | Nutritionist shares 10 easy fat loss hacks that will help you lose weight without starving: Start every meal with dahi

The nutritionist further noted down the simple foods to add to diet to keep going:

1. Complex carbohydrates:

Rice, whole wheat roti, multigrain preparations, and millets like ragi, jowar, bajra, maize, and oats, along with foods like bananas and sweet potatoes, are rich in complex carbohydrates. These not only provide sustained energy by releasing it slowly but also supply fibre to keep you fuller for longer. On average, 1 gram of carbohydrates provides 4 kcal of energy.

2. Protein:

Proteins play a key role in muscle building, tissue growth, and repair. They also support strength and endurance, making them essential for overall health. Add protein-rich foods like whole pulses, sprouts, eggs, lean meat, chicken, fish, tofu, and paneer to your daily meals. Each gram of protein provides 4 kcal of energy.

3. Fats:

Fats are often misunderstood, but they are essential for good health. In fact, 1 gram of fat provides 9 kcal, more than double the energy from carbohydrates. The key lies in choosing healthy fats such as nuts (almonds, walnuts), seeds (flax, chia, pumpkin), avocado, and freshwater fish. Good fats help you feel full, curb cravings, stabilize mood, and most importantly, aid in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. 4. Fruits and vegetables:

Fruits and vegetables are packed with vitamins, minerals, and fibre, making them essential for overall health. Seasonal varieties are especially rich in antioxidants that fight free radicals and strengthen immunity. Low in calories yet nutrient-dense, they make a smart choice for mid-morning snacks or fillers between meals.

5. Water:

Water may not be classified as a nutrient, but it is vital for life. An adult needs about 2–2.5 litres daily to stay healthy. It regulates body temperature, prevents dehydration, and directly impacts energy levels, physical performance, and overall wellbeing. Tips to stay active:

  • Eat short, frequent and balanced meals that include complex carbohydrates, protein and good fats.
  • Stay hydrated. Dehydration leads to fatigue and low concentration which directly affects your activity.
  • Stay away from processed sugars, carbonated drinks, fried food, packed, preserved, canned bakery and ready-to-eat food.
