bitchy | Did Prince William personally threaten to take away Eugenie & Beatrice’s titles?

On Monday, British journalist Emily Maitlis spilled some interesting tea about an odd moment last week. Last Thursday, late in the day in the UK, there was a sudden buzz that some big news would be coming out of Windsor. Maitlis claimed that Buckingham Palace told various media outlets to station reporters and photographers somewhat close to Royal Lodge, and that they should expect some interesting “passing traffic.” Several royal reporters were camped out for hours, and the BBC apparently sent a helicopter. Then, the palace “chickened out,” according to Maitlis. They decided not to do whatever staged skit they had planned. Maitlis also revealed what she thought it was going to be: either a meeting between Prince William and the York princesses OR King Charles arriving at Royal Lodge to personally demand that Prince Andrew vacate the premises. From the Royalist Substack:

According to Emily Maitlis, palace officials even tipped off the media that King Charles would be photographed driving into Royal Lodge to read his brother the riot act last Thursday. Cameras trained their lenses on the gates.

But when a BBC chopper began hovering above Windsor Great Park, Buckingham Palace “chickened out,” suddenly calling off what would have been the most public act of royal discipline in years.

“There was a question,” Maitlis then said, “over whether there had been, earlier in the day, a meeting between Prince William and the princesses Beatrice and Eugenie saying: ‘You’ve got to get your dad to move out of Royal Lodge, otherwise we will start re-examining the state of your own titles.’”

It is a remark that is brutally, unmistakably William, given that the continued status of a whole raft of non-working royals as princes and princesses has long grieved William, who is planning a wholesale rewriting of the royal settlement when he accedes. William’s decision to threaten Beatrice and Eugenie is clearly tactical, but it will be seen as a personal betrayal by them, as he used to be close to them.

[From The Royalist Substack]

Yeah, at no point did Maitlis say that she definitively knows that William was in the area or that he would be part of this stunt. Personally, given the facts at hand, this whole incident strikes me as more of a “classic Charles” bungling. Charles and his courtiers have f–ked up the York situation from start to finish, and these days, they’re even trying to shove the late QEII under the bus and blame everything on her.

As for the idea that William would personally go to Eugenie and Beatrice and threaten them with the removal of their titles… I don’t see it. He would send someone to do that, or he would demand that his father do it and then Scooter King would take credit for it. This whole story is also fascinating because I’m almost positive that William was nowhere near Windsor last week. His kids’ school break, remember? He was either in Norfolk or he was on vacation in some undisclosed location. Interestingly, as Maitlis’s quotes went viral throughout the day, “sources” piped up and told the Telegraph this: “Sources close to both the Prince and the Princesses deny the existence of any meeting. The Prince also does not have the power to remove their titles, or to ask Parliament to do so.” Again, Maitlis was just theorizing, and I suspect William was nowhere near Windsor last week.

All that being said, people are gunning for Eugenie and Beatrice’s titles, HRHs and everything else. That’s abundantly clear, but I believe that Buckingham Palace is the one trying to manipulate the parents through the daughters.

“The Palace got very nervous… they blamed a “media circus” – a circus entirely of their own making.”

Journalists were tipped there “may be passing traffic” outside Royal Lodge on Thursday night… but it didn’t materialise. 👀@maitlis | @jonsopel pic.twitter.com/En5NScmpS2

bitchy | Platell: Princess Beatrice & Eugenie are ‘blue-blooded leeches’ who should be exiled too

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

There are lots of conversations about Princess Beatrice and Eugenie this week. My working theory is that Prince Andrew only agreed to relinquish his royal titles and honors with the understanding that A) he could continue to live in Royal Lodge and B) his daughters’ titles would be unaffected. Well, people are coming for Royal Lodge, but I’m not sure if anything will happen with Beatrice and Eugenie. Eugenie is better positioned to weather this moment – she lives part-time in Portugal with her husband, she is less visible than her sister, and (imo) Eugenie has had one foot out the door of royal life for several years now. Beatrice, on the other hand, has historically enjoyed her parents’ contacts and she has involved herself in their disgraceful behavior. Well, one royalist is trying to help save the York princesses. From Richard Palmer’s piece in the i Newspaper:

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are expected to publicly distance themselves from their disgraced parents in the fallout over the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. The sisters – who are both said to be in shock amid lurid revelations about Prince Andrew and Sarah Feguson’s friendship with Epstein – want to remain loyal to their parents but wish to disentangle themselves from the toxic York brand, according to some royal insiders. But in private, the sisters have both been spending time with Andrew and Sarah, offering them solace amid ongoing revelations about their friendship with the late paedophile, according to those who know the family well.

“They’ve always been a very resilient family who support each other in times of crisis,” one friend said, denying rumours in royal circles over the weekend that the sisters had cut off contact with their parents. On Monday, Beatrice, 37, drove to see her parents at Royal Lodge as Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir – which details alleged sexual encounters with Andrew – hit the shelves.

As the elder daughter, Beatrice has been more involved in her parents’ affairs, offering advice to her father in particular, although her judgment has sometimes been called into question. She took notes for two hours when Andrew met the BBC Newsnight team in November 2019 and is reported to have advised him that agreeing to that ill-fated interview with Emily Maitlis would help clear the air. Beatrice has told friends, “I’m just numbed by it all,” as she struggles to process a succession of new revelations about her father.

Beatrice and Eugenie, 35, now face a difficult trick trying to navigate through the chaos left by their father’s enforced decision to give up using his Duke of York title and various honours. Andrew Lownie, whose biography Entitled gave a blistering account of the scandals surrounding Andrew and Sarah, believes Beatrice and Eugenie will have to try to distance themselves further now. “I think the sisters need to lie low until the dust has settled and to keep their hands clean,” he said. “They have their careers, families and charities.”

Professionally, however, it is in their interests to emphasise their connection to their uncle, King Charles, and the institution that has just heaped humiliation on their branch of the family. Being royal helps boost their profiles. The two Princesses, who occasionally attend royal events, both have business careers and receive no taxpayer-funded support. The King regards both Beatrice and Eugenie, who are respectively ninth and 12th in line to the throne, as blameless and has made it clear that they remain Princesses as the male-line grandchildren of a sovereign. Unlike Andrew and Sarah, they will be welcome to join the rest of the Royal Family at Sandringham for Christmas. “The King is fond of both of them and his intention is that they are unaffected,” one source said.

[From The i Newspaper]

It’s like the royal reporters are trying to publicly convince Beatrice and Eugenie that they need to distance themselves from their parents, despite the royalists also knowing full well that Bea and Eugenie remain very close to Andrew and Sarah (they’re said to be especially close to Sarah, especially during and after her cancer battle). Well, at least one royalist is prepared to throw the baby out with the bathwater – Amanda Platell devoted her Mail column to the princesses and how they need to be exiled from royal life as well.

After the disgraced Andrew and, by association, Fergie gave up their royal titles over links to the late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein last week, the King and Prince William both made it clear that their daughters Beatrice and Eugenie will continue to be princesses – with all the trappings that royal blood brings. I – and I’m sure many others – am flabbergasted by the decision.

Why should we feel a shred of sympathy for the two pampered princesses who have lived their lives enjoying, unknowingly perhaps, vast privileges and wealth courtesy of their dishonoured father and his dodgy millionaire friends? And was this really the moment for Charles and his heir to go out on a limb for two non-working royals who have fed, like blue-blooded leeches, off their parents’ connections – and are now mothers and businesswomen in their own right? I think not.

Prince Andrew’s biographer Andrew Lownie, in his bombshell book Entitled, wrote that Beatrice and Eugenie ‘claim they’re modern princesses juggling jobs and children, but they’re just as entitled as their parents’. And he claimed that they, like their parents, have ‘shady’ connections to the super-rich of Saudi Arabia. Do the King and the Prince not realise that every time the public sees the pair, we are reminded of their awful, money-grubbing parents? Embracing them now only further damages their dwindling support, especially among young people – polls show of Generation Z, upon which the future of the Royal Family depends, only 30 per cent believe the monarchy is ‘good for Britain’.

King Charles and Prince William need a reality check: they must now go further and ban the princesses, as every time Beatrice and Eugenie appear in public they will again shine the spotlight on their family’s disgraceful legacy – and remind us that their father, still eighth in line to the throne, befriended a paedophile and then repeatedly lied about it. And, though the King and William might disagree, it is unthinkable to me that the princesses should be invited to the royal Christmas at Sandringham and the traditional walkabout after attending the Church of St Mary Magdalene.

Harsh it may be, but I feel little sympathy for Beatrice and Eugenie, however innocent they may be. They should be self-aware enough to know that their presence at any royal event would be a disastrous distraction – and serves no one but themselves. If, unlike their parents, they have a shred of decency and indeed care for the future of the Royal family, they could completely disappear from royal life and get on with their happy married lives and children and their successful businesses. That would be the appropriate way to show respect for the enduring pain suffered by Epstein’s young victims.

[From The Daily Mail]

I mean… a broken clock, etc. Platell is heavy-handed, for sure, and I’m not prepared to put this much on Beatrice and Eugenie’s shoulders. Despite everything, I still have some sympathy for them and I can’t even imagine what it was like growing up with those ghastly parents. As I said, I think Eugenie has had the right idea for years now – she’s carved out her own life, away from the Windsors. She has a job, her husband works and makes a good salary, she lives abroad for part of the year. Beatrice is the one who wants to be accepted by the family, and she wants to be a working royal. And that’s not going to happen. PS… I always love how royalists treat “Sandringham Christmas” like it’s the most coveted invitation out there. Please. No one gives a sh-t.

Meet Princesses Beatrice & Eugenie – Hollywood Life

Prince Andrew, Duke of York is the father of two royal women. Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are the only children of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York. Their father has been in the spotlight since Virginia Giuffre, who is one of Jeffrey Epstein‘s victims, alleged that Prince Andrew was one of the men that sexually assaulted her. In January 2022, the late Queen Elizabeth II formally stripped her son, Prince Andrew, of his military and royal affiliations. Despite his official demotions, Prince Andrew and his daughters continue to remain in the line of succession for the prestigious throne. Meet both of the princesses below.

Princess Beatrice

The eldest child of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, is Princess Beatrice. She was born to the former couple on August 8, 1988, just two years before her younger sister. Despite being one of Queen Elizabeth II’s grandchildren, Beatrice is not considered to be an active working royal. She works for the software company, Afiniti, but has since been promoted to one of four Counsellors of State, upon the heartbreaking death of her royal grandmother. Princess Beatrice is number nine in the line of succession.

Princess Beatrice married property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in an intimate ceremony back in July 2020. Her grandmother, and grandfather, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, were both in attendance at the time. Following her beautiful wedding at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge in Windsor, England, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo revealed they were expecting their first child. The Royal Family made the official announcement on May 20, 2021, with both families delighted with the news. Their baby girl, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, was born on September 18, 2021.

Princess Eugenie

Princess Eugenie was born on March 23, 1990, about six years before her mother and father’s official split. She is not a working royal and works in the arts world. She graduated with a degree in English and art history from Newcastle University in 2012, and began working at the London art gallery Hauser & Wirth in 2015. Princess Eugenie serves as the director of the gallery, according to Good Housekeeping. Just two places behind her older sister, Princess Eugenie is number 11 in the official line of succession.

The royal woman is also married, like her sister Beatrice. Eugenie married her husband, Jack Brooksbank on October 12, 2018 at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The adorable couple got engaged on January 22, 2017 while vacationing in Nicaragua together. Although Jack is not a royal, he does have an impressive resume, as he works as the official UK Ambassador for George Clooney and Rande Gerber‘s best-selling tequila brand, Casamigos. Jack and Eugenie welcomed their first child together, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, on February 9, 2021.

13 Fashion Favorites From French Editor Eugénie Trochu

by jummy84 September 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Eugénie Trochu is a Who What Wear Editor in Residence known for her transformative work at Vogue France; her Substack newsletter, where she documents and shares new trends, her no-nonsense approach to fashion and style, plus other musings; and she’s working on her upcoming first book that explores fashion as a space of memory, projection, and reinvention.

I’ve been in fashion for 15 years. I’ve watched trends rise and fall, silhouettes get reinvented, and countless “returns” arrive with their carefully packaged storylines: the “empowered” pencil skirt, the “perfectly cut” capri pants, the “next-generation” ballet flat, the “reinvented” trench coat. I’ve sat through shows that were choreographed down to the last detail. I’ve written reviews of collections—some sublime, others questionable. I’ve interviewed obsessive designers and exhausted stylists. I’ve learned how to read what clothes are saying, especially when no one is really looking anymore.

And yet, every morning when I open my closet, I come back to a wardrobe that barely shifts. Not a rigid uniform but a loose framework. Not a costume but a vocabulary. These are pieces that have stayed with me, year after year.

There’s the black Levi’s 501s, the Prada blazer, the Ralph Lauren men’s shirt I never returned, the oversize denim overshirt that rescues me from hesitation. There are white socks that peek out, gold family jewelry, vintage rock tees I bought more for what they evoke than what they display.

Some things I’ve worn to newsrooms, shoots, weekends à la mer, or meetings where I felt slightly out of focus. Others I wear to write, to walk, to think, to keep quiet. What I wear every day was never meant for photos. But it holds me. Grounds me. Knows me. So maybe it’s time to talk about it.

In the end, my wardrobe isn’t a strategy. It’s a selection. A discipline. A form of intimacy. I don’t dress to hold an image. I dress to hold a day, an idea, an intention. And everything I wear—my black jeans, scuffed ballet flats, sturdy blazer, rock T-shirts, inherited gold jewelry—serves exactly that: to carry me through without disguising me. There’s nothing spectacular about what I wear. But everything is precise. Everything is chosen. And maybe that’s what real luxury is, after all: knowing exactly what you love to wear, and why.

The Black Levi’s 501s (or Low-Rise Jeans on Sarcastic Days)

The black 501 is my foundation—worn through at the right knee, a little tight at the waist but still sharp. I’ve worn it with a white shirt to a Dior dinner and with a shapeless sweatshirt during the close of a September issue. The low-rise version is from the early 2000s (thank you, Vinted) but without today’s Y2K hysteria. I mean actual low-rise jeans: slightly loose, just enough hip to remind you the body exists, not enough to make it a statement. I pair them with a more intricate top and a leather jacket—Helmut Lang fall 1999 energy.

The Not-Too-Perfect White Tee and the Striped Men’s Shirt

French writer, editor, and creative Eugenie Trochu poses in a penthouse space in Paris wearing a plaid button-down shirt, white T-shirt, lace-front jeans, and brown suede moto boots

I have dozens: Uniqlo, Petit Bateau, Hanes, a couple of unraveling Margielas, and one “vintage” shirt that’s just my dad’s. It has to be soft, washed-out, almost pale. Too new, and it looks suspicious. I tuck it into jeans, and roll the sleeves. That’s it. The striped men’s shirt is different. Thin stripes, slightly worn collar—mine’s Ralph Lauren. I stole it from an ex who wore it too well. Now I wear it better. Half-buttoned, half-untucked, paired with patent kitten heels so it says “I’m working” when I’m really just out buying Parmesan.

The Denim Jacket (or Overshirt on Sleepless Days)

French writer, editor, and creative Eugenie Trochu poses in Marseille, France wearing a black and white printed mini dress, a denim shirt, ankle bow socks, and cap-toe Mary Jane flats

A classic Levi’s jacket, found at a flea market in Los Angeles in 2011, softened by time. I wear it like a structured comfort blanket. On tired mornings, I reach for the oversize denim overshirt: longer, looser, more enveloping. I throw it over anything—a dress, a tee, an existential crisis. It’s my “I’m here, but don’t ask too much of me” piece. It does what a The Row trench does, without the offshore account.
