The newest K-Drama, Would You Marry Me has set the internet ablaze with its romantic plot and relatable characters. Meanwhile, Jung So Min stars as a designer trying to rebuild her life after a painful breakup and monetary issues.

Would You Marry Me

Choi Woo Shik once opened up about choosing to star in the drama. Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘SNL’ Sketches Ranked (Oct. 18, 2025 Episode)

by jummy84 October 20, 2025

Here’s a breakdown of every ‘SNL’ sketch with Carpenter on Oct. 18.

Sabrina Carpenter hosted SNL for the first time and starred in eight sketches that made it to air Saturday night (Oct. 18) in an episode that seamlessly paired with the pop star’s brand of humor.

With a background in comedy television — a decade ago, a then-teenaged Carpenter was the lead on the Boy Meets World spinoff Girl Meets World — and with some familiarity with the SNL stage (as a music performer twice, and with one “Domingo” sketch in her pocket), the singer/actress was poised for success pulling double duty as host and musical guest Saturday night.

And she delivered, from the cold opening all the way through her final sketch of the night — with two playful performances sandwiched into the schedule (a youthfully staged “Manchild,” plus an uncensored “Nobody’s Son”).

With a short and sweet monologue, Carpenter poked fun at her Man’s Best Friend album cover and her “horn-dog pop star” persona — “I’m not just horny, I’m also turned on, and I’m sexually charged, and I love to read; my favorite book is the encyclopedia… it’s so big and it’s hard” — and throughout the episode portrayed roles ranging from a singing washing machine to a tween boy podcaster to an entrepreneur peddling a pillow that looks like a vagina. (Audience reports from the dress rehearsal say there were also a couple sketches with Carpenter that didn’t make it to broadcast, including one about the “perfect man” and a Salem witch-themed bit.)

Here’s a ranking of every sketch Carpenter was in on the show that aired Saturday night. Watch all eight sketches from the Oct. 18 episode of SNL below.

  • “Domingo” Cold Open

    Trending on Billboard

    } else {
    // This should only be get called when page cache is not cleared and it’s event time.
    window.pmc.harmony?.switchToHarmonyPlayer();
    }

    Previous SNL sketches about Domingo (Marcello Hernández), the suave guy ladies love, have seemingly been a hit — but with a big cast refresh, last season’s go-to was a stale opener for Carpenter’s Oct. 18 episode. Her performance in the friend group making Domingo’s reveal again (by way of bad singing) was on point. But as a cold open, the sketch felt like it was a missing a twist to reel viewers in. Still, pop fans will appreciate the song parodies set to Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” and Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra.”

  • “Girlboss Seminar”

    Trending on Billboard

    if ( !window.pmc.harmony?.isEventAdScheduledTime() ) {
    pmcCnx.cmd.push(function() {

    });
    } else {
    // This should only be get called when page cache is not cleared and it’s event time.
    window.pmc.harmony?.switchToHarmonyPlayer();
    }

    Carpenter confidently fills the role of “girlboss” in this satirical sketch that has a motivational figure going through the motions — even through a concussion. Silly physical humor and good comedic timing make her character’s cringe funny, even through the period-themed quips.

  • “Surprise”

    Trending on Billboard

    if ( !window.pmc.harmony?.isEventAdScheduledTime() ) {
    pmcCnx.cmd.push(function() {
    pmcCnx({

    });
    } else {
    // This should only be get called when page cache is not cleared and it’s event time.
    window.pmc.harmony?.switchToHarmonyPlayer();
    }

    The “Surprise” sketch would rank much higher on this list, if it had been Carpenter who carried it. But she’s just a supporting player to Ashley Padilla’s scene-stealing performance as the colleague who can’t vibe with an office birthday surprise. If there’s one line to take way from the episode, it’s this one: “Farted and demoted.”

  • “Grind Song”

    Trending on Billboard

    });
    } else {
    // This should only be get called when page cache is not cleared and it’s event time.
    window.pmc.harmony?.switchToHarmonyPlayer();
    }

    Sabrina Carpenter and Bowen Yang have no qualms playing awkward 13-year-olds who’ve apparently heard about grinding somewhere. The two attempt some questionable moves on the middle school dance floor in this pre-taped musical sketch with lyrics like “We could get PG-13, if you know what I mean.” Stick around ’til the end to see what the scene really looks like from the principal’s (Kenan Thompson) POV.

  • “Appliance Store”

    Trending on Billboard

    if ( !window.pmc.harmony?.isEventAdScheduledTime() ) {

    });
    } else {
    // This should only be get called when page cache is not cleared and it’s event time.
    window.pmc.harmony?.switchToHarmonyPlayer();
    }

    Carpenter’s musical talent comes in play again in this whimsical sketch set in a P.C. Richard store where washers and dryers have human heads that can carry a tune. Here, instead of a buzz or a jingle, your washer/dryer duo will perform a little ditty when the load is “almost totally dry” and a perhaps a tap number if you go for the “permanent press” cycle. SNL newcomer Veronika Slowikowska impresses, holding her own harmonizing and playing showgirl with Carpenter.

  • “Shop TV: Pillow”

    Trending on Billboard

    });
    } else {
    // This should only be get called when page cache is not cleared and it’s event time.
    window.pmc.harmony?.switchToHarmonyPlayer();
    }

    The video thumbnail might tell you all you need to know about this one, but press play to catch an always-funny “Shop TV” sketch — this one’s got Carpenter perfectly portraying a naive guest seller who’s unaware the neck pillow she designed for flight comfort unmistakably resembles a particular part of the female anatomy. Especially when she adds on the faux-fur lining, available in two varieties.

  • “Plans”

    Trending on Billboard

    if ( !window.pmc.harmony?.isEventAdScheduledTime() ) {

    });
    } else {
    // This should only be get called when page cache is not cleared and it’s event time.
    window.pmc.harmony?.switchToHarmonyPlayer();
    }

    Introverts assemble: This is the scary movie of your nightmares. Carpenter and Ben Marshall star in a Blumhouse parody about the horror in realizing months ago you politely made plans with distant relatives that you hoped they wouldn’t follow through on — but they did. And those plans are for today. “Which cousin is it?” Marshall asks in a panic, to which Carpenter reveals — eyes wide in terror — that it’s “the one who runs marathons.” It gets more frightening. “Her husband is coming too” — the one known for making people watch 11-minute YouTube videos with him. So much for the weekend.

    The top moment of Carpenter’s episode of Saturday Night Live is an ensemble sketch that puts her on a podcast about snacks with three other annoying young boys (Chloe Fineman, Jane Wickline and Veronika Slowikowska). Littered with insufferable slang (“fire,” “cooked,” et al.) as they snicker over Halloween candy and “goated” vegetables, something about it sounds so accurate in the time of TikTok that it’s almost real. The four of them, led by Carpenter, pull off the uncomfortable modern tween vibe almost too well. As one of the top comments on YouTube voices, “My heartfelt sympathies to all middle and high school teachers during this difficult time.”

‘Saturday Night Live’ Releases Promos for Sabrina Carpenter Episode

by jummy84 October 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Is “Sabrina and the City” the latest Sex and the City spinoff? Not quite. But it is the premise for Saturday Night Live’s first teaser for pop star Sabrina Carpenter’s upcoming episode.

The Man’s Best Friend singer, who previously appeared on the show as a musical guest, is taking on double-duty this Saturday (Oct. 18) as SNL’s host and musical guest.

In a promotional video titled, “And Just Like That…Sabrina Carpenter Is Hosting SNL,” Carpenter turns into her own version of Carrie Bradshaw. “New York is one big apple, and I’m taking my bite at Saturday Night Live,” the singer says in a classic Sex and the City voiceover to kick off the video.

Carpenter encounters several SNL castmembers, ignoring their normal questions and answering in lines that sound like they’ve been pulled from the HBO show. “Thank God, it’s Mr. Big,” she yells at one point, referencing Carrie’s longtime Sex and the City love interest, before running over to Marcello Hernández. “Oh, hey, it’s actually Marcello but I’ll take it,” he answers.

Hernández and Carpenter are certainly not strangers. On top of doing the week’s second promotional video together, Hernández gained immense popularity for a character he played on the show named Domingo, who was featured in a wedding-themed parody skit set to Carpenter’s song “Espresso.” She even joined in for a follow-up sketch earlier this year, set to a song from Wicked, a nod to fellow pop star Ariana Grande, who was in the first sketch.

In the second video released ahead of the episode, Carpenter jokes that she might need to arrest someone for being too hot — a nod to her song “Juno,” where she picks an audience member to “arrest” for that reason. Carpenter even arrested Hernández, reprising his Domingo character, at an L.A. show last year. In the promo, Hernández holds his hands out, ready to be arrested, before Carpenter picks the show’s cameraman.

Carpenter follows Bad Bunny and SNL alum Amy Poehler as hosts of season 51. Miles Teller, Nikki Glaser and Glen Powell were just announced as the show’s upcoming hosts; however, the full lineup of hosts and musical guests for this season hasn’t been revealed.

Daboo Malik Breaks Down in Emotional Weekend Ka Vaar Episode After Salman Khan Slams Amaal Malik For Throwing Farhana’s Plate

by jummy84 October 18, 2025
written by jummy84

The latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 19 delivered high-voltage drama, emotional confrontations, and a reality check for several contestants. Host Salman Khan took center stage as he sternly reprimanded singer Amaal Malik for his aggressive behavior towards fellow housemate Farhana Bhatt, warning him that this was his final chance to correct his conduct.

Amaal Malik

Amaal Malik Schooled By Salman Khan

The controversy erupted during a fiery captaincy task earlier in the week when Farhana Bhatt tore up a letter sent by co-contestant Neelam Giri’s parents to win the task. This led to an explosive reaction from Amaal Malik, who reportedly snatched food from Farhana’s plate, threw it across the room, and even broke the plate. The situation escalated further when Amaal allegedly made a disrespectful remark about Farhana’s mother, leaving the housemates and viewers outraged.

On the Weekend Ka Vaar stage, Salman Khan addressed the matter head-on and said, “God has given us our livelihood. Who gave you the right to go and snatch the plate from her? You targetted Farhana’s mother. Do you think you’re justified? Are you right? Consider this my last warning.” Salman’s words were sharp, direct, and carried the weight of finality, making it clear that such behavior would not be tolerated any further.

Amaal Malik

The episode turned even more emotional with the unexpected arrival of Daboo Malik, Amaal’s father and a respected musician. Overcome with emotion, Daboo addressed his son in front of everyone, tears welling up in his eyes ad said, “I’m a father, and I’ve come to tell you that you’re fighting, but don’t let your tongue go below the belt, son. Don’t write on my forehead that you’re behaving this way.” Moved by his father’s words, Amaal broke down and apologized, admitting that his anger got the better of him and expressing deep regret for his actions.

bitchy | Kim Kardashian: Kanye gave away our five Lambos during a manic episode

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Kim Kardashian appeared on this week’s episode of Call Her Daddy. This was Kim’s first time on this particular pod, although Khloe appeared on CHD earlier this year. I’m realizing just now, as I’m writing this, that it’s been a few years (maybe longer) since Kim gave an in-depth interview about her life and her divorce from Kanye. I actually don’t remember Kim ever talking about Kanye and their marriage in this way – Kim goes into Kanye’s bipolar disorder and how she really believed she could stick with him, but in the end, she needed to get out for her own health and well-being. Some highlights from the interview:

Her life after divorcing Kanye: “I do have a problem of only remembering the good. I’m a really forgiving person, but I really haven’t dated like that to, like, have those kinds of toxic relationships since I’ve been divorced.” She added that with age has come more of a level head in relationships, explaining, “I think when you get older, you just don’t tolerate that s—. You don’t have time.”

The dissolution of her marriage to West: “People can say that there was, like, signs and maybe I didn’t wasn’t paying attention to them. And I think when someone has, like, their first, like, mental break, you know, you wanna be super supportive and you wanna, like, help figure that out and you wanna really get into that with them and and be there for them.” She added that West wasn’t “willing to make changes” that she thought would be “super healthy and beneficial. It makes it really hard to continue on in a relationship that can be toxic. When you have kids, it’s definitely harder to leave than it is to stay. And it changes everyone’s life forever.”

She wanted to set a positive example for their kids: “Once my mental health starts to get affected and then I can’t parent the way that I need to and I can’t be present and focused, then there’s gotta be one of us that can. And I had to save myself in order to be a better mom for everyone. And I think, like, when everyone’s older, they’ll be able to understand it and see that all.”

North is brutal: These days Kardashian said that her eldest daughter, North West, has urged her to find love again, saying, “You need to have a boyfriend now … she just said to me like the other day, like, ‘Mom, you’ve got to get remarried. You’re getting too old and no one is gonna deal with this.’ And I was just like, ‘What?’ She says it to me all the time.”

She doesn’t regret marrying Kanye: “An over a decade relationship with four beautiful children is not a failure.”

The breaking point: In terms of a breaking point in her marriage, Kardashian cited the musician publicly speaking out against her mom, Kris Jenner, and her sisters, as well as her lack of safety and West’s erratic financial decisions. “Just not feeling safe, you know, not even physically, just like maybe emotionally or even, you know, financially,” she explained. “I would like come home, and we had like five Lamborghinis and I’d come home and they’d all be gone if he was in an episode. And I’d be like, ‘Oh, wait. Where’s all our cars? Like, my new car?’ And it would be like, oh, he gave them away to all of his friends.” Ultimately, Kardashian noted, “I didn’t know what you’re gonna get when you wake up, and that’s like a really unsettling feeling.”

[From People]

Between this and the Kevin Federline stuff, I feel like I’m taking on some unpopular and perhaps even contrarian views this week. But I’ll say it – I never blamed Kim for Kanye’s bullsh-t, and I never blamed her for walking away and divorcing him. Kim has done some sh-tty things in her life, but the Kanye situation wasn’t her fault whatsoever. Yes, he was in a manic state for the last years of their marriage, but it was also rising to the level of abuse, where Kim didn’t feel safe, where she worried about what she was exposing their children to. I actually thought she handled the divorce really well, like she was giving Kanye the time he needed to understand that she wasn’t going to help him or cover for him anymore. It should have been a wake-up call for him but it wasn’t. As for what North says to her mom… North is so funny, man. North is in essence making the argument of “You need to get married because you’re getting old and no one will want to deal with your baggage if you’re not young and hot.” That’s wild from a 12-year-old.

The Labubu Craze Hits Season 5 in ‘Ballgame’ Episode With Philadelphia Phillies

by jummy84 October 16, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Abbott Elementary Season 5 Episode 4, “Ballgame.”]

Abbott Elementary took the teachers out to a ballgame in the latest Season 5 episode, as select faculty enjoyed a Philadelphia Phillies game in celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week.

Before the educators hit the ballpark, though, Gregory (Tyler James Williams) observed his students playing with “Lafufus,” the knock-off version of the uber-popular toy, Labubus, which resembles little fuzzy monsters. Wondering aloud how the kids can afford Labubus, since they’re so expensive, one student, who is selling Lafufus clarifies that they’re more reasonably priced.

While you may wonder what this has to do with the Phillies game the Abbott faculty attends, it all connects to Janine’s (Quinta Brunson) close call with a stray ball, which bumps her in the head. It turns out, Janine is more than reluctant about attending the game, despite her boyfriend Gregory’s excitement, and she even pads her head with a helmet and a giant foam hat on top of that.

Eventually, she loosens up enough to take the helmet off just in time for her to get hit with the ball. As a means of compensation, the Phillies offer to have Janine and her colleagues meet their mascot, the Phillie Phanatic. While they’re pretty excited about the special treatment, it’s their opportunity to meet Phillies left fielder Kyle Schwarber.

Taking time to chat with them and sign souvenirs, Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) ends up selling some of the autographs back at school, only to learn that the student who purchased them had attached them to her stash of Lafufus, raising their prices in the process. But instead of admonishing the girl for her business acumen, Melissa is rather impressed, and so are we.

And while a Schwarber signature might be worth +$50 to an Abbott student or teacher, the player’s appearance surely means a whole lot more to viewers at home tuning into this exciting episode. What did you think of Abbott Elementary‘s venture into the live sporting event space? Let us know in the comments section below, and let us know your take on the Lafufus empire being built by one of the students.

‘The Rainmaker’ Interview: Episode 9 Explained

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The following post contains spoilers for The Rainmaker Episode 9.]

We’re in the homestretch of The Rainmaker now. The penultimate episode of the USA Network drama finally brought the big case into the courtroom, and of course, nothing went to plan for Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan). There was at least one promising — albeit highly unexpected — development by the end, though, and things did wrap up as well as could be expected for Bruiser (Lana Parrilla) and her father.

The episode began with Rudy and Deck (P.J. Byrne), now separated from Bruiser’s firm, arguing the case against Leo Drummond (John Slattery). Things quickly went off the rails when Rudy decided to scrap his opening statement mid-sentence and instead deliver his true theory of the case — even if it did invite a motion for dismissal of the entire case from Drummond.

To support his assertion that the hospital covered up having a serial killer nurse on staff, Rudy called the elusive Jackie Lemanczyk (Gemma-Leah Devereux) to the stand. As much of a triumph as her very presence was, though, her initial testimony was for naught because her evidence about Melvin Pritcher’s (Dan Fogler) use of the medication dispensation machine was illegally obtained and, thus, inadmissible. Leo, meanwhile, painted the prosecution as simply seeking a villain after a self-inflicted tragedy.

After Rudy and Deck tried to scramble to sign the other victims of Pritcher’s as a Hail Mary to save the case, they found they were once again a step behind Sarah Plankmore (Madison Iseman), who’d already contracted them for silence. Making matters worse, Dot’s (Karen Bryson) testimony, while emotional, also allowed Drummond to paint her son as a habitual liar whose sobriety at the time of his death was very much still in question.

Bruiser, who had to grapple with the feds offering her a deal to help entrap her father, came up with a new plan: Put Jackie back on the stand to testify about the Narpans machine. At first, the plan was a success; Jackie successfully revealed that the machine didn’t erase data, like the defense insisted, and she also suggested Melvin’s behavior around Donny Ray Black was antithetical to usual nursing practices. However, Sarah, who’d already fully crossed the rubicon, was called upon to deploy the firm’s so-called “Nuts and Sl*ts” routine to discredit Jackie by making her seem mentally unstable.

When Brad (Wade Briggs) objected to Leo making Sarah second chair over him and reminded his boss that he knew where the bodies were buried, Leo smarted back that he wasn’t actually the one who buried them. (“Relax, Brad, you’re still useful as a backup singer, but that girl’s a star,” he said for added effect. Ouch.)

Elsewhere in the episode, Bruiser finally confronted her father, and he insisted, “I’ve done a lot of things, but I didn’t kill that woman. I shouldn’t have to tell you that.” Later, she finally learned the truth about what happened to the young mother Rosalie, who was a whistleblower, and as it turned out, Bruiser’s dad really didn’t kill her. It was just a misunderstanding that led to her death at the hands of one of their associates.

Before he and Prince (Tommie Earl Jenkins) took off to evade arrest, he had one parting gift: Tied up in Prince’s basement was none other than Melvin Pritcher.

So what will happen next? Well, Dan Fogler teased, “He leaves bread crumbs. He lets himself get caught, and then you see him in the basement with, who? … They might team up and use, use some of Melvin’s knowledge to catch the real bad guy. That’s all I’m gonna say.”

As for the absolution Bruiser got about her father, series creator Michael Seitzman said of the development, “Bruiser… wants the truth. Everything with Bruiser is about honesty. ‘First, I want to know the truth, and I want the people close to me to be honest with me.’ … She’s had two problems with her father: One is that he’s been dishonest with her, both by literally lying to her and also lying by omission…. and the other problem she’s been having with her father is that she’s wondering, ‘Did he do something terrible? He did something bad, but he didn’t commit murder, right?’ And so what I think she’s feeling there is relief that he finally told her the truth, which is, in their love language, the truth is, I love you. That’s what she’s been waiting for.

But I think also, she’s feeling relief that he’s not the monster.”

NBC to Air Extended Taylor Swift ‘Tonight Show’ Episode

by jummy84 October 9, 2025
written by jummy84

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon is set to launch a special episode this Friday — “Taylor Swift (Extended Cut)” — featuring more moments from Swift’s late night interview.

The pop star stopped by Monday’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Swift, who was all blinged out in a sparkly silver dress, covered a variety of topics, including her latest album The Life of Showgirl, released on Oct. 3. Friday’s special episode will feature additional, not-yet-released moments from Fallon’s interview with Swift.

Swift chatted about her recent engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Fallon joked he was being “blinded” by Swift’s ring, which she showed off to the host and camera. She joked that going on Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, was a “distraction” to not notice that the backyard was being decorated for the big proposal.

Later, in a game about the many rumors that swirl around the pop star, she and Fallon put some things to bed. Swift clarified through the game that she didn’t tell pal Selena Gomez that she “beat” Swift to the altar during a speech at Gomez’s recent wedding. “I did not make it about me,” she told Fallon.

She also addressed the speculation that she turned down the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime show because of a dispute over owning the footage. “No,” she told Fallon when he asked her if that’s why she didn’t want to take on the job, adding that Jay-Z and his team have always been good to her.

Monday’s show marked Swift’s seventh appearance on the show over the years. While the appearance was strictly billed as an interview — rock band The Format was the episode’s musical guest — the singer and Fallon played tracks off of Showgirl and broke them down. The crowd sang along to “Opalite,” “Wood” and “The Fate of Ophelia.” Swift cheekily told the crowd that “Wood,” her horniest track to date, started off innocent.

Swift’s 12th album, produced and written by the singer herself along with hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback, was thought to be a return to some of her most standard pop albums, like 1989, but it instead managed to be the love child of Evermore and Midnights. The album sold 2.7 million copies on release day (Oct. 3), making that day alone her largest week ever, according to Luminate via Billboard.

In addition to the album, Swift released a cinematic companion over the weekend, which included a chance to see the music video for the album’s lead single, The Fate of Ophelia, before its online release Sunday. Swift directed the video, which was filmed by frequent collaborator and Oscar-nominated cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, and features choreography from famed choreographer Mandy Moore, who worked on the singer’s Eras tour.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: Taylor Swift (Extended Cut) is set to air on NBC this Friday, Oct. 10 at 11:35 p.m. local time and streams the next day on Peacock.

‘Special Forces’ Teresa Giudice Quits and Daughter Gia Cries: Episode 2 Recap

by jummy84 October 3, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: This post contains MAJOR spoilers from Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, Season 4, Episode 2].

Two more Bravo stars ended their journeys on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test during the Thursday, October 2, episode. On the second day of selection, Teresa Giudice decided to quit the show, while Eva Marcille was asked to leave by the Directing Staff (DS).

The first task of the episode mimicked a helicopter crash, with the recruits needing to hold their breath for 20 seconds before escaping the underwater contraption out the correct door. Eva immediately panicked, but was eventually able to escape. However, once she was out of the helicopter contraption, she seemingly passed out and needed to be rescued by the emergency paramedics in the water.

Meanwhile, Teresa tapped out the second she was underwater, despite encouraging words from her daughter, Gia Giudice.

Later on, the recruits had to fight each other head-on. They were put into pairs and had to physically spar with one another. Eva asked to see the psychiatrist and revealed that she was still shaken from what happened earlier. The doctor advised that she sit this one out. Eventually, the DS told her she had to leave the course.

“I don’t think she’s in a place for us to take forward,” one of the DS explained. “For her own safety, really, and for the course integrity. For me, that’s going to be a concern.” They called Eva in to let her know. “Physically and mentally, and for your safety, I don’t believe it’s for you. On that note, I’m going to take your armband.”

Meanwhile, the fighting was when Teresa decided she’d had enough. Just as Gia was about to fight, Teresa said, “I’m withdrawing. I can’t watch you fight.” As she was kicked off the course, she assured Gia, “You got this. I love you guys.”

“I’m not a quitter, but it’s going to be really hard for me to not step in if she is in a vulnerable position,” Teresa explained in a confessional. “I just want to protect her.” Gia ended up losing her match, but the DS assured her she gave a “valiant effort.”

Afterwards, she told the other recruits, “Part of me wants to go, but then part of me is like, don’t do that.” The DS ended up calling Gia in for a conversation, during which she broke down in tears while opening up about her parents going “away for a little bit” when she was growing up.

“When my mom left [the course], I was kind of panicking,” Gia explained. “She made me feel secure. I have a problem when people leave. I hate even talking about it because it’s so public. My dad didn’t file taxes for, like, 10 years. My parents both get indicted. My dad was sentenced, my mom was sentenced. She did 11 months. I was 13 when I had to take on a lot of responsibilities, taking care of my sisters, planning Christmases, the whole thing.”

Gia admitted that she “grew up faster” than she had to, and DS Billy Billingham offered her some encouraging words. “You’ve done your bit as you’ve done since you were a child,” he said. “Stop worrying about your mom. You ain’t gonna say it, but I feel it: It’s a relief that your mom is gone.”

While Gia wasn’t immediately ready to give into that, she said, “I don’t want to say she was holding me back because she was motivating me, too.” However DS Billingham insisted, “Of course she was, but she was holding you back. Be honest with yourself.” He urged her, “This is your time now.”

In the end, Gia said she was going to do her best to stick it out. “I am very close with my family,” she added. “But right now, I am really trying, not to be disassociated from them, but kind of just create my own path to stand on my own.”
