written by jummy84

The Power of Events, the not for profit organisation launched in 2023 to provide better understanding, respect and value for the UK Events Industry, is thrilled to announce the expansion of its UK Schools Engagement Programme into the North East with the new Leeds region.

This unique initiative is connecting thousands of young people with the dynamic world of events, providing insights, inspiration and career pathways into the industry.

In its first academic year 24-25, it engaged 106,000+ young people through 350 school visits, across East of England, Birmingham, South Coast and Hertfordshire regions – a Year 1 Report is now published: www.thepowerofevents.org/schools-engagement-programme/

With ambassador registration now live on the Schools Engagement Programme portal www.schools.thepowerofevents.org industry professionals across the UK are invited to sign up and support the next generation of talent by volunteering as little as an hour to the initiative. The first wave of Leeds school engagements will begin in the Spring of 2026 across the region, with the aim of reaching 10,000+ young people in the first year.

This programme expansion for 2026 is made possible with sponsorship from leading event industry organisations across the Leeds region:

  • Leeds Hotels and Venues Association (LHVA), PLASA, Reset Connect, Royal Armouries, Sparq Live, Sterling Event Group, TAIT, The Meetings Show, XSEM

Sam Woodward at TAIT said, “We are delighted to support Power of Events, especially this new initiative on the doorstep of our UK home in Yorkshire – proud to help encourage the next generation of talent to explore the many facets of our industry”

Dan Bardgett, Managing Director at XSEM said, “The events industry reaches into every corner of the economy – from healthcare and technology to sport, culture and beyond. Many of our team began their journey studying event management at university, so we know first-hand how the right encouragement can unlock incredible careers. Supporting The Power of Events programme is a chance to show young people the scale of opportunities waiting for them, and to help inspire the next generation of talent who will shape the future of this industry.”

Rick Stainton, CEO of The Power of Events, commented: “The launch of the Leeds Hub marks a significant progression into the North East for one of our core projects, to engage and inspire young people across the UK about the diverse opportunities within the events industry. With the incredible support of our ambassadors and sponsors, we look forward to developing a lasting impact across the region.”

The Power of Events had already announced 4 new regions coming online in the autumn of 2025 – Manchester/Liverpool/Cheshire, Edinburgh, London and most recently Bath/Bristol, with a projection of engaging over 250,000 young people across the 8 live regions by the end of 2026.

To kick off the Leeds region, The Power of Events will be inviting event industry professionals to an exclusive launch reception in the city in early 2026.

This event will provide an opportunity to learn more about the programme and how to get involved as a volunteer schools ambassador, as well as network with the programme sponsors alongside the wider organisation’s supporters and partners.

Woman Rejects $898 Engagement Piece

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Alexa, play ‘Irreplaceable,’ because it looks like love is in the air — but so is confusion, disappointment, and a whole lotta side-eye. What was supposed to be a step into forever for Priscilla and Tyler now has the internet grabbing popcorn and picking sides without even knowing the full story yet. And, let’s just say… this one has the internet clutching its pearls, taking sides, and analyzing engagement rings like it’s the NBA Finals.

RELATED: Social Media Reacts To Bella Thorne Surprising Fiancé Mark Emms With Proposal Of Her Own (VIDEO)

When The Walmart Ring Doesn’t Ring True, Sis

It all started when a woman named Priscilla hopped on Threads to share a screenshot of the moment she turned down her boyfriend’s proposal. And the $898 Walmart engagement ring that came with it. She also sparked a debate under the caption, “What are y’all thoughts on this? I’m curious.” But don’t get it twisted—her issue wasn’t the price tag. According to her, this was about him “not listening.” In the leaked text exchange, she told Tyler, “I’ve told you the kind of ring I wanted more than once & you showed up with something from Walmart… If you knew what I wanted & still chose to do what was easiest [it] tells me you don’t really hear me.” Whew.

The Comments Section Was Fighting For Its Life

The internet was immediately divided in Priscilla’s Threads comment section like a Super Bowl fan using a parlay. Some were full-on girl’s girls, riding hard for her and insisting she deserved a partner who actually listens. Meanwhile, people started dropping photos of their own inexpensive-but-beloved rings, and a few fellas chimed in telling Tyler to run—fast—and find someone else to spend his life with.

One Threads user @india_kilo said, “I’m confused, if you have $900 to spend on a ring, why the hell would you spend it at Walmart? He could’ve went to Kay Jewelers…“

This Threads user, @misslaurarh, added, “She doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life being unheard.“

And, Threads user @rubyyyork shared, “It’s not about the ring. It’s about her stating her needs and him dismissing them. That’s a deeper issue than a Walmart ring. I’m on her side.“

Meanwhile, Threads user @t.giulia04 wrote, “Lemme put it in another perspective. ‘Oh he loooves playing Fifa on his ps5, let me get a game for him’ *buys Call of duty for xbox* The guy: ‘this isn’t gonna work’ The girl: ‘You’re ungrateful!’“

While Threads user @iamsaheira commented, “Girl………..what the FAWK is wrong with you??? Dam. I hate when I have to side with men.“

Lastly, Threads user @itsricharddrew said, “Avoid any woman who cares more for the ring than the proposal“

Chile, Even Expensive Rings Ain’t Safe Out Here

It looks like Priscilla isn’t the only one side-eyeing a ring. Another bride-to-be recently confessed on Facebook that she hates the surprise ring her fiancé proposed with, admitting she gets “sad every time [she looks] at it.” Though the jewel was far pricier than Priscilla’s, the issue was the same: he never asked her what she wanted. From changing her nail shape to trying to “grow” into it, nothing helped. She still didn’t like it—period.

One thing’s for sure: between skyrocketing proposal budgets, Pinterest-perfect expectations, and communication breakdowns, engagement season is looking real messy this year. Whether you think Priscilla was right or wrong, she’s definitely sparked a conversation about love, listening, and the true cost of a ring. And, the debate started a conversation on whether this was a red flag—or simply a woman with standards.

Hyve strengthens year-round engagement model through acquisition of HGAN

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

  • Events, meetings, roundtables, insights, dinners, and now deeper, advisory-led connections – demonstrating the continued expansion of Hyve’s product suite
  • Offers Hyve’s healthcare customers even more value, with clear potential to replicate this model across other sectors
  • Third healthcare acquisition, sixth overall since launching the GO27 growth and optimisation plan

Hyve, the global leader behind the world’s fastest growing and most forward-thinking B2B events, today announces an agreement to acquire HGAN (Health Grown Advisory Network), a leading platform accelerating the growth of innovative healthcare companies through curated connections and tailored commercial support.

At its core, HGAN is a business of connections.

A trusted partner that goes beyond introductions to guide and support partnerships between health innovators and organisations evaluating new healthcare solutions from first meetings to successful outcomes. The team facilitates curated engagements between innovative healthcare companies and verified partners, such as employers seeking to improve benefit plans or health plans focused on population health.

HGAN has rapidly become the choice commercial accelerator for digital health solutions. Its two-sided marketplace meets the needs of both buyers and sellers in the healthcare ecosystem, while its extensive advisory network provides expert counsel on critical growth factors including positioning, marketing, health plan navigation, and product–market fit. Its customers include healthcare leaders such as Spring Health, Virta, Rightway and Maven, with many of its partners already attending Hyve’s healthcare events: HLTH, ViVE and Behavioral Health Tech.

Strengthening Hyve’s year-round engagement model.

Hyve has been steadily expanding its year-round engagement capabilities across its global portfolio, creating products and services that deliver value to customers beyond the event cycle. In healthcare specifically, this includes HLTH Community, a subscription platform offering white papers, resources and online events, and Entrée, a curated dinner series bringing leaders together in bespoke networking settings.

Deepening Hyve’s connection ecosystem, with a scalable model for other sectors.

The acquisition of HGAN adds depth to Hyve’s connection model, introducing a new advisory-led matchmaking service, and is a natural extension of Hyve’s existing meetings product which saw 75,000 one-on-one, double-opt-in meetings take place at the latest Shoptalk Spring.

There is clear potential to replicate this model across the other sectors where Hyve organises events in order to deliver value and results for more customers beyond the show floor.

Mark Shashoua, CEO of Hyve, commented: “This acquisition marks an exciting new chapter in Hyve’s growth story. HGAN’s model goes beyond creating connections, through guiding relationships from first introduction to meaningful partnership. By integrating this deeper, high-touch approach with the HLTH product suite, we’re building a stronger, more diversified offering that delivers value all year round. Healthcare is where we’re proving the model, but its potential extends far beyond. I’m delighted to welcome Josh and the HGAN team as we bring this vision to life.”

Josh Riff, Founder of HGAN who will stay on to lead the business, commented: “This partnership delivers exactly what we’ve been building toward – a platform that transcends traditional conference boundaries to provide year-round value. Instead of a few touch points a year we want to create meaningful continuous dialogue amongst healthcare innovators and potential partners so that in the end the health consumer benefits. By joining Hyve, we expand our impact and fortify our network. Having spent time getting to know Hyve and its leaders, it’s abundantly clear to me that this is the right step for HGAN and healthcare innovation.”

This is Hyve’s third investment into the rapidly growing healthcare sector, following recent acquisitions of HLTH and Behavioral Health Tech, and its sixth deal since launching the GO27 growth and optimisation plan last year.

Event engagement is broken. Here’s how the best teams are fixing it

by jummy84 November 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Let’s call it out: most event engagement strategies are stuck in the past.

Teams are running more activations – bigger booths, flashier tech, more budget – but engagement is flat. Attendees ghost you. Sponsors desire more ROI for longer periods. Your team is drowning in five tools that don’t talk to each other.

Sound familiar? You’re not alone. Most event pros sit at Level 1 or 2, running disconnected campaigns that reset after every event and generate limited reusable data.

The good news is there’s a playbook that’s already working for the world’s best event teams. And it’s not about spending more. It’s about building systems, not one-offs.

That’s why Komo teamed up with Event Tech Live to show what’s possible when you replace campaign chaos with the Engagement OS.

What great engagement actually looks like

Here’s what separates the winners: they’ve stopped resetting. Instead, they’re running always-on engagement systems that compound across every touchpoint.

The proof? Results from leading B2B organizers, B2C brands, and event venues:

  • New York Comic Con: 1,058% more engagement and 450% more impressions year-over-year, part of ReedPop’s 1.66M engagements across 7 events with 90% average engagement rates
  • Association of National Advertisers (ANA): 5.9 average user entries with 20.5% virality rate
  • SEAT Conference: “Partnering with Komo for the SEAT event allowed us to find fun and engaging ways to interact with the audience. We were able to get greater insights as to what they were interested in doing at our event. Use of the platform and the experience that the members at Komo brought were invaluable in setting these things up.”
  • AEG – The O2 Arena has leveraged the platform to reduce campaign production time while creating more personalized interactions: “As the world’s leading destination for live entertainment, leisure, and retail, the launch of Komo AI (Kai) has been invaluable. It has dramatically reduced the time our in-house team spends building personalized campaigns, while enabling us to create more campaigns, more often. With Komo’s Engagement OS and Kai, we’re engaging audiences at a deeper level and gaining richer insights faster than ever before.”

These teams are running engagement like an operating system: unified, always-on, and built to learn from every interaction.

How they’re doing it

Komo’s Engagement OS is built to replace one-off campaigns with continuous engagement loops. It’s not a gamification plugin or loyalty bolt-on. It’s the foundation.

Here’s what makes it different:

Speed to impact: Launch interactive campaigns without dev dependencies. Komo’s AI co-pilot, Kai, helps event teams go from idea to live activation in under 10 minutes, then automatically optimizes based on real-time participation patterns.

Always-on engagement: Stop starting from scratch. The OS connects engagement before, during, and after your events, turning moments into ongoing relationships that build loyalty and pipeline.

Participation-powered insight: Every activation captures zero-party data that attendees willingly share. No dull forms or surveys. Just real-time insights that show exactly what resonates and why.

See Komo in action at Event Tech Live London 2025

Across the show floor, you’ll experience Komo in action:

  • Polls and Live Trivia: See 73%+ participation in real-time.
  • Gamified experiences: Capture qualified leads while rewarding participation.
  • QR-activated experiences at exhibitor booths: Watch how instant engagement creates sponsor value.
  • Digital rewards: Experience gamified journeys that drive behavior.
  • Live data feeds: See engagement metrics update as attendees interact across the venue.

This isn’t a demo. It’s Event Tech Live practicing what they preach: engagement as a system, not a one-off.

Where are you on the Engagement Maturity Curve?

Not every team is ready for Level 4. Most are still at Level 1 (unstructured campaigns) or Level 2 (repeatable activations). That’s okay, progress happens in stages, not leaps.

Komo’s Engagement Maturity Model helps event professionals understand where they are today and what’s required to reach the next level. Whether you’re moving from manual to automated, episodic to always-on, or siloed to integrated, there’s a clear path forward.

Campaigns don’t scale. Systems do.

The event professionals winning in 2025 aren’t running more campaigns. They’re building engagement systems that compound across every touchpoint, every event, every moment that matters.

If you’re ready to stop resetting and start scaling, let’s talk. Visit Komo at ETL London 2025 (booth E10) or book a 30-minute discovery workshop.

Because the future of events isn’t about who shows up. It’s about who stays engaged.

I Went Halves on My Engagement Ring—And It Felt Completely Romantic

I Went Halves on My Engagement Ring—And It Felt Completely Romantic

by jummy84 November 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Last weekend, my partner and I got engaged. (Eek! Yay! Champagne bottle emoji!) Getting engaged is something we’ve been talking about doing for a while—yes, I knew it was coming. And I’m glad I did, because it meant I could book a manicure and plan my ‘fit. It also meant I could help choose the ring. We settled on a truly stunning (IMO) vintage emerald and diamond ring from Rock N’ Rose. And when it came to making the purchase, it seemed only natural that we would split the bill.

When I tell people that my partner and I decided to go halves on my engagement ring, it tends to elicit a wide range of responses: a raised, suspicious eyebrow. An “Oh, that’s… interesting.” Maybe even a thinly veiled look of pity.

It’s not that I expect absolutely everyone to go halvsies. Obviously, many women may not want to—and that’s fine! But I’m always a little surprised by these reactions. I had assumed that splitting the cost of the ring was something a lot of us modern women might be doing. It felt fair, feminist; a symbol of our partnership rather than a reminder of some kind of outdated gendered imbalance.

After all, things have moved on quite a lot when it comes to equality in male-female romantic relationships in the UK. For one thing, it has become the norm for both men and women to work. Research from ClearScore suggests that most couples are making an effort to contribute equally when it comes to finances: 40% of couples split their bills proportionately to income, while 51% split everything 50/50. Admittedly, there is still a long way to go when it comes to the division of labour, with women reportedly doing 36 hours of household tasks per week, while men do an average of 25. Nevertheless, this is an improvement on the zero hours that (many) men were doing 50 years ago.

However, despite this general push to make heterosexual coupledom more equal, surprisingly few couples make the same decision to go halves when it comes to the engagement ring. According to a 2023 study, 94% of partners who did the proposing paid for the engagement ring in full, and only 2% of couples reportedly decided to split the cost of the ring.

Then again, the more I think about it, these stats kind of check out. My algorithm (which has cottoned on to the fact that I’m getting engaged) is filled with a surprising number of young women who seem to believe pretty fervently that the ring should be something that the man and only the man pays for. And, even more strange, the general line of thinking seems to be: the bigger the ring he can buy, the better the man.

Raveena Tandon Questions Public Obsession Over Her 1990s Engagement: ‘Girls Change Boyfriends Weekly, So Why This One?’

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Bollywood veteran Raveena Tandon recently stirred renewed conversation when she addressed the persistence of public fascination around her broken engagement with fellow actor Akshay Kumar—more than three decades after the event. In a candid podcast interview, Tandon briskly questioned why one disengagement continues to attract attention, especially when the very relationships that replace them are often fleeting.

“When people still search about my engagement with Akshay, I wondered, ‘Forgotten it a long time ago,’” Raveena said, referencing the headlining query she received about the 1990s split. She went on, “We made one hit film together, sure. But girls change their boyfriends every week in college, people get divorced, move on. Yet one broken engagement remains stuck to my name. Don’t know why.”

Her tone reflected a mix of bemusement and mild frustration. It’s a reminder of how old narratives linger in public memory—and how some celebrities feel trapped by them. For Raveena—now married to distributor Anil Thadani since 2004 and mother to teenage children—the past engagement feels distant, yet it keeps resurfacing, tethering her identity to a moment no longer relevant.

The engagement to Akshay stemmed from a period when the pair starred in chart-buster films like Mohra, and the cinematic pairing fed speculation of an off-screen romance. The trenchant memory of that era continues to cast a long shadow, even as both actors have charted their own courses since. But for Raveena, the attention feels unfairly fixed.

“I stopped reading anything written about it—why would I raise my blood pressure? If it’s just noise, better not read,” she remarked. The comment suggests fatigue with being asked the same question—a remarkable pressure considering she has had two marriages since and more than 25 years of post-engagement life. Yet just one headline forms the permutation the public returns to.

What makes this moment significant is how it underscores the nature of celebrity in India. The cultural expectation that past relationships remain repeatedly revisited—especially for women—is itself telling. Raveena’s pointed observation that “girls change their boyfriends every week” works as both sharp commentary and social critique. The underlying complaint: the endurance of outdated narratives—and the unequal scrutiny tied to them.

Interestingly, the episode also carries career undertones. Raveena’s resurgence in screen visibility—spurred by recent film announcements and renewed public interest—comes at a moment when her past relationship once again bubbles to the surface. For many stars, public interest in personal history enacts a dual function: distraction and brand-refresh. Whether intentionally leveraged or not, the resurfacing of past links often aligns with renewed professional footsteps. In her case, the new film Welcome to the Jungle sees her sharing screen space with Akshay once more—circling back to that earlier era.

From a broader lens, Raveena’s commentary invites a rethink of celebrity memory: why does one event remain in public loops when entire decades of life have passed? Why are some partnerships immortalised in headlines, while others fade? And crucially, why does the inquiry persist more insistently for female stars? The lingering question seems not just personal but systemic.

Her remarks also reflect an evolution in how stars engage with their narratives. While earlier generations might have ducked such topics, today’s stars—especially women with longevity in the field—are more direct about what they see as unfair. Tandon’s blunt response signals that she won’t continue to bear the coverage costs of an ancient headline just because it sells clicks.

For fans and media consumers, this moment offers a fresh prompt: when we dig out old relationship stories, what exactly are we looking for? Nostalgia, scandal, certainty? Raveena’s sharp defence suggests we should ask whether the story still holds meaning—or merely fills column inches.

Ultimately, the actress’s reflection is less about relational history and more about agency. It’s a claim, in so many words: “I moved on. You moved on. Why can’t you?” In that, she signals a shift. Celebrity isn’t just about what happens on screen—it’s also about when you’re permitted to stop answering for it.

In the end, Raveena Tandon’s voice sounds confident—not defensive. She’s not rewriting history; she’s asking us to reconsider why we re-read it. And in doing so, she reminds us that storytelling, especially celebrity storytelling, is as much about letting go as it is about looking back.

A Dream Come True! Allu Sirish And Nayanika’s Engagement Is A Fairytale | Glamsham.com

Allu Sirish, actor and younger brother of superstar Allu Arjun, has officially gotten engaged to his longtime girlfriend Nayanika. The couple exchanged rings on October 31, 2025, in a private yet grand ceremony attended by close friends and family members. Sharing the joyous news on social media, Sirish wrote, “I’m finally & happily engaged to the love of my life, Nayanika!”

The pair looked radiant as they celebrated their special day. Sirish opted for an elegant white ethnic outfit, while Nayanika stunned in a classic red saree, embodying traditional charm. The event was a star-studded affair with members of the Allu–Konidela family in attendance, including Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, and other close relatives.

Allu Arjun’s wife Sneha Reddy and their daughter Allu Arha also drew attention with their stylish appearances — Sneha in a lavender gown and little Arha looking adorable in a pink dress as she accompanied her mother.

Though the couple has always kept their relationship private, Sirish had hinted at their union earlier this year on the birth anniversary of his late grandfather, Allu Ramalingaiah, when he shared a heartfelt post about his engagement.

While details about Nayanika remain limited, reports suggest that she hails from Hyderabad and belongs to an affluent business family. The two are said to have been in love for some time before making their relationship official.

On the work front, Sirish was last seen in the 2024 fantasy action film Buddy, directed by Sam Anton. The Telugu remake of the Tamil hit Teddy starred Sirish as a pilot entangled in a supernatural mystery involving a woman’s soul trapped in a teddy bear. The film earned praise for its unique premise and emotional storytelling.

bitchy | Prince William’s ‘lack of engagement’ with Christianity upsets Anglicans

by jummy84 October 26, 2025
written by jummy84

King Charles got his big moment with Pope Leo (Bob) yesterday. The head of the Anglican Church prayed with the Holy See in the Sistine Chapel. The Queen Consort wore a mantilla and a ridiculous “crown of crows” headpiece. Pope Bob looked slightly amused and Midwestern about the whole thing, but he gave Chuck and Cam what they wanted and sent them on their way. At the end of the day, Charles has actually become what he always said he wanted to be: a defender of all faiths. His heir never had the same religious goals. By all accounts, William has little to no Christian faith, nor does he particularly care about embracing a multifaith society. His time as the head of the Church of England is going to be interesting, to say the least. Which brings me to this interesting piece in the Independent, published in the wake of Charles’s Vatican visit: “Charles has forged a holy bond with the Pope – but will William break it?” An excerpt:

As the King prayed with Pope Leo in the Sistine Chapel in an unprecedented display of Christian unity, I suspect some Vatican officials will have breathed a sigh of relief. At one time, there was considerable anxiety about what would happen when Charles came to the throne, and one senior Vatican official told me that they considered his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, to be the last Christian monarch. They had noted her own deep Christian faith and how seriously she took the monarch’s role of supreme governor of the Church of England.

No wonder then that, alongside the prayer service in the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican decided to give him what is called a spiritual honour: to be made a “confrater of the abbey of St Paul” at the papal Basilica of St Paul’s Outside The Walls, and installed in a special chair with his royal coat of arms. It will then be made available for the King and his successors to use when they are in Rome.

Charles III may well use it again, but William V? There is little sign that the Prince of Wales has much time for religion. Yes, he was “hatched and matched” in the Church of England, with his christening in the music room at Buckingham Palace and his wedding to Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey watched by millions around the world. But there is little sign of engagement with religion other than those formal ceremonies.

One formal religious ceremony will soon start to loom over his life. His father’s reign will undoubtedly be much shorter than that of Elizabeth II, which is why clerics started talking about how William needed to start thinking about his own crowning as soon as his father’s coronation was over. I know of at least one clerical coronation expert who sent a detailed memo to William’s office about it, urging him to think about it as soon as possible.

The coronation has always been essentially a religious service, involving anointing and the receiving of Holy Communion, as well as the taking of oaths. Watching the 1952 ceremony and that in 2023, you can see that the key participant firmly believes in its Christian essence. It cannot be taken for granted that William will.

That matters not only for the Church of England, but for all of us. A monarch with a belief in something greater than themselves is, in effect, a signpost to that greater thing. Without it, it is much harder to see the monarchy having any profound purpose.

[From The Independent]

It’s not for me to judge QEII or Charles’s Christian faith, their faith is to be taken at face value, in my opinion. But it’s interesting to put all of the pieces together of their actions and behavior. Yes, Charles embraces Britain’s multifaith society more than any other monarch in Britain’s history. He also mistreated his first wife, committed adultery, got a divorce, and married one of his mistresses… all of which should be frowned upon as the head of a church. QEII’s personal life was much less sordid, but as we see now, she spent the last twenty years of her life covering up her son’s rampant criminal behavior. And then there’s Scooter King, the man of little faith, the rotten egg who wants to be known as Ruthless William. No sense of Christian charity – he’s much too lazy for charity – nor does he have any sense of Christian forgiveness. I genuinely wonder if British Anglicans are going to be totally fine with a king who will only commit to barely going through the motions of Christianity, and even then, he’s going to skip Easter.
