Anniversary (2025): A Family Thriller Set Against A Nation On Edge | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 October 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Lionsgate’s Anniversary, directed by Jan Komasa, is a thriller that blends the intimate fractures of a family with the unsettling turbulence of a nation in crisis. Releasing on October 29, 2025, the film focuses on Ellen and Paul Taylor, played by Diane Lane and Kyle Chandler, a couple whose world begins to unravel when their past collides with their present. The disruption arrives in the form of Liz, Ellen’s former student, portrayed by Phoebe Dynevor, who unexpectedly becomes romantically involved with the Taylors’ son, played by Dylan O’Brien.

What should be a familiar family dynamic quickly spirals into conflict as Liz brings with her deep ties to a controversial new movement sweeping across the country, ominously referred to as “The Change.”

The brilliance of Anniversary lies in the way it takes something as relatable as family loyalty and tests it against forces much larger than any single household.

The cast amplifies this layered story with weight and urgency. Diane Lane and Kyle Chandler ground the film with their portrayal of parents watching the life they built slip away, while Phoebe Dynevor’s Liz complicates everything with both charisma and menace.

Dylan O’Brien adds vulnerability to the mix, caught between his parents’ world and Liz’s influence. Supporting performances by Madeline Brewer, Zoey Deutch, Mckenna Grace, and Daryl McCormack further widen the scope of the drama.

As Liz integrates herself into the Taylor family, unresolved tensions bubble to the surface, exposing cracks in trust and loyalty.

With Ellen torn between her maternal instincts and her history with Liz, and Paul struggling to hold on to stability as his home life begins to mirror the chaos outside, the family’s fate becomes inseparable from the greater uncertainty gripping the nation.

With Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz, Paula Mae Schwartz, and Kate Churchill producing, and Komasa’s reputation for crafting tense, socially conscious films, Anniversary is positioned to be more than just another thriller.

It’s a reflection of the fragility of trust in a world that feels increasingly unstable. By weaving political and cultural unrest into an intimate family drama, the film resonates with today’s anxieties while delivering a story that feels urgent, emotional, and uncomfortably real.

Bono, The Edge Revisit U2 Classics At Guthrie Prize Ceremony

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

U2’s Bono and the Edge dipped into their back catalog during a six-song set last night (Oct. 21) as part of their Woody Guthrie Prize ceremony at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Ok., and even unveiled some lyrics for an in-progress song that may appear on their next album.

The duo rattled off “Running To Stand Still,” “Mothers of the Disappeared,” “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” “One,” “Pride (In the Name of Love)” and “Yahweh” in addition to a cover of Guthrie’s “Jesus Christ,” and later sang some a capella lines from the Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night” when accepting the award.

The Woody Guthrie Prize is given annually to artists who “best exemplify Guthrie’s spirit and work by speaking for the less fortunate through music, film, literature, dance or other art forms and serving as a positive force for social change.”

“Bob Dylan really did bring us to the place where the song was an instrument to open up worlds,” Bono said. “And the world of Woody Guthrie, I wouldn’t have entered if not for Bob.” He added, “America is the greatest song still yet to be written. The poetry is there but it’s still being written … don’t imagine it will continue to be extraordinary on its own, that if you fell asleep and woke up in 20 years, the world would be fairer or freer. It won’t. That’s not the way it works.”

“Our favorite protest songs always had a sense of vision, something to aim for,” said the Edge. “You don’t talk about the darkness — you make the light brighter.”

During a protest song-oriented discussion with producer T Bone Burnett, Bono admitted, “you can’t write a song to order,” but then proceeded to recite lyrics from an unfinished song about the late Palestinian activist Awdah Hathaleen: “one father shot / three children crying / if there is no law / is there no crime / if there is no hope / what’s there to rhyme / history is written / one life at a time.”

It was the first concrete evidence of material intended for the follow-up to 2017’s Songs of Experience, a release date for which has not been announced.

U2 hadn’t set foot in Cain’s Ballroom since performing there on April 4, 1981. The band returned to Tulsa again in 1983 and 2018 and had previously joked that its members were looking “forward to legally buying their own pints this time around.”

Bono, Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. join past Guthrie Prize recipients including Pete Seeger, Mavis Staples, Joan Baez, Bruce Springsteen and 2024 honoree Tom Morello.

Kylie Jenner is officially stepping into the world of acting with her first major film role. The beauty mogul and reality TV star has joined the cast of The Moment, an upcoming A24 film based on an original idea by pop singer Charli XCX. Kylie confirmed the news on October 9 by reposting a Deadline article via Instagram Stories, along with a behind-the-scenes photo with Charli, adorned with green heart emojis — a nod to Charli’s Brat aesthetic.

Directed by Aidan Zamiri and co-written by Zamiri and Bertie Brandes, The Moment is set to release in 2026 and promises a bold, pop-centric narrative. The story follows a rising pop star navigating the pressures of fame and the demands of preparing for her first arena tour — a fitting theme given Kylie’s own experience with public life and the entertainment industry.

This marks Kylie Jenner’s first scripted acting role outside of her reality TV fame in Keeping Up with the Kardashians and The Kardashians. Though she had a brief cameo as herself in the 2018 heist-comedy Ocean’s 8, The Moment is her first significant acting venture.

Kylie joins a star-studded ensemble cast including Rachel Sennott, Kate Berlant, and Charli XCX herself. The supporting cast features Alexander Skarsgård, Rosanna Arquette, Jamie Demetriou, Hailey Benton Gates, Trew Mullen, and Shygirl, among others. A.G. Cook, Charli’s longtime collaborator, will be working on the film’s music.

Produced by Charli XCX’s Studio365 and 2AM’s David Hinojosa, with executive producers Brandon Creed, Mikey Schwartz-Wright, and Zach Nutman, The Moment is already generating buzz for its unique blend of music, fashion, and fame.

Charli announced the film with a teaser video set to her 2013 hit I Love It (with Icona Pop), captioned: “Based on an original idea by Charli XCX. The Moment. Coming 2026.”

TV Academy Sets AI Guidelines For Members As Hollywood On Edge About Tech

TV Academy Sets AI Guidelines For Members As Hollywood On Edge About Tech

by jummy84 September 11, 2025
written by jummy84

EXCLUSIVE: A Television Academy task force developing what it calls “responsible AI and production standards” has finalized a set of guidelines for members, Deadline has learned.

The three pillars of the guidelines, Academy officials say, are “creative integrity,” “permissions, licenses, legal and commercial viability”; and “accountability, transparency and sustainability.”

The document resulted from a survey of the organization’s 30,000-plus members. Plans call for rolling them out to the membership following Sunday’s Primetime Emmys.

Generative AI has been the third rail of Hollywood since the arrival of ChatGPT and the labor impasse of 2023, when SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild went on strike amid widespread anxiety about AI eliminating industry jobs. Anxiety over copyright protection continues to run high, with Disney, NBCUniversal and Warner Bros. Discovery filing lawsuits against AI image creator Midjourney, one of several legal cases being closely tracked across Hollywood.

The Academy’s task force was led by Christina Lee Storm, governor of the Academy’s Emerging Media Programming peer group, co-chair of the Advocacy Committee, and a member of the Innovation Advisory Committee. She is also a noted producer and co-founder of tech consultancy Playbook PLBK.

Speaking with Deadline this week during the Toronto Film Festival, Storm said the prevailing attitude toward GenAI in the creative community has changed significantly over the past 24 months.

“Two years ago, the Television Academy did an AI Summit [with] a lot of disgruntled folks,” she said, and participants were “not quite understanding the tools, or reading the headlines saying, ‘It’s going to take over everything.’

“This year, we had a lot more people come and be much more open to it, because what we’re seeing – as more and more people are using these tools – is that it’s advancing certain pieces [of the craft], but it’s not advancing everything,” Storm added.

“The need to have a filmmaking language, filmmaking understanding, and all of the [human] traits that are a part of the process – and have always been a part of the process – is crucial.”

According to Lee, the three board-approved ‘Key Principles’ at the heart of the task force’s findings are:

1) Creative integrity for professionals, creators, performers and craftspeople

How does my decision to use GenAI support and respect the work of the artists and collaborators on this project, including writers, performers, directors, producers, and craftspeople? Have they been informed and are properly credited or compensated for their contributions?

2) Permissions, licenses, legal and commercial viability

Is the AI model I’m using trained on ethically sourced, properly licensed and clean data, and not pirated or publicly available content without prior consent or permission from copyright owners? (Storm noted Anthropic’s $1.5 billion settlement, announced Monday, paid out to authors whose work was used without permission.)

3) Accountability, transparency and sustainability

How will I disclose transparency to the production team, distributors, clients, or stakeholders about when, where, and how GenAI was used in the project?

For now, the principles are just recommendations, Storm explained, and the Academy is “not necessarily mandating things per se.” However, the input process involved all 31 of the Academy’s peer groups, a wide spectrum including animators, casting directors, VFX artists and writers.

“The Television Academy recognizes the need for ethical, responsible rules of engagement for the use of Generative AI in television,” Maury McIntyre, president and CEO of the Television Academy, told Deadline. “We commend the Academy’s Innovation Advisory Committee for the development of these Key Considerations and we are committed to educating our members, our colleagues, and our elected representative on how to navigate, adapt and preserve creative integrity as the industry moves forward.”

The news from the TV industry follows a move by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences last April to update its rules for Oscar consideration. That decision came after a contentious awards season featuring several AI scandals, including one that dogged Best Picture nominee The Brutalist. AMPAS stated, in somewhat vague terms, that the use of AI and other generative tools would “neither help nor harm the chances of achieving a nomination” going forward.

Storm joined a TIFF AI panel on Monday that also featured Nikola Todorovic, co-founder of Tye Sheridan’s AI, 3D and VFX platform Wonder Dynamics; and Ángel Manuel Soto, the Puerto Rican filmmaker whose credits include DC’s Blue Beetle and HBO Max’s Menudo: Forever Young. Also on the panel was Seungwoo Kim, creator of CJ ENM’s Cat Biggie, a fully GenAI-based 3D animated series; and Don Allen Stevenson III, the creative and AI research lead at Asteria and Moonvalley, which develops workflows for the emerging arena of “ethical” AI in filmmaking.

Spice has the internet popping OFF with reactions after she weighed in on a Jamaican school’s decision to ban edges. The dancehall singer put the school system on blast for worrying about the wrong thing, and now folks online are chiming in with their opinions.

Spice Calls Out Jamaican School For Hair Policy

St. Andrews, an all-girls high school, is going viral on social media after they dropped a post saying young girls can no longer rock edges. The message lit up on the internet instantly, and Spice shared her thoughts. The Jamaican-bred artist clearly wasn’t feeling the new rule, posting a video of a young girl on her Instagram Stories with her hair styled in a braided and twisted bun. Spice captioned the clip with her thoughts and called out Jamaica’s school system, saying baby hairs won’t block learning. “Jamaica school systems always focusing on the wrong thing KMT. How this hairstyle ago stop this little girl  from leaning?” she wrote.

Social Media Is Split Over St. Andrews Edge Ban

The Roomies were left split in TSR’s comment section after Spice shared her thoughts on St. Andrews’ edge ban. Some folks agreed with the school’s decision, while others thought the rule was a bit much. Peep some of the reactions below.

Instagram user @2knokz wrote, “it’s literally hair😭cmon now, how does that affect learning?”

Instagram user @shyannjadoretaylor wrote, “As a Jamaican, too much edges can be tacky in the uniform. There’s a time and place for everything. Dress modest and go learn.”

While Instagram user @tinamarikka wrote, “The Jamaican school system do too much sometimes 🙄”

Then Instagram user @niwakhe_umzi wrote, “If the girls are being distracted from their studies because they meet up in bathrooms or other places in school to do their edges then! This is not wrong at all.”

Another Instagram user @tdot619_ wrote, “Caribbean schools take education and appearance seriously. That’s all I’m gonna say.”

Instagram user @vivi.anelovee wrote, “Leave edges alone 😩”

While another Instagram user @kariferrarii1 wrote, “All I see is more policing black girls…”

Then another Instagram user @_ally101 wrote, “Different countries different rules!! You guys don’t know Jamaica school system and Spice should know better! 🙄”

Here’s What St. Andrews Said In Their New Hair Policy

St. Andrews isn’t playing when it comes to baby hair. The high school started going viral after they shared a poster on their official Instagram page telling the girls that edges are no longer permitted on campus. St. Andrews also asked the young ladies to keep their looks neat and even called the swoop edges curtains. See their now-viral message below.

“Remember, curtains belong in the house, not on foreheads! 😅 Let’s keep our looks neat and school-ready.”

Industry leaders gather at EDGE Venues Summer Conference to debate the future of meetings and events

by jummy84 September 9, 2025
written by jummy84

EDGE Venues welcomed more than 160 agents, hotel groups, suppliers, and event professionals to the Crowne Plaza Stratford-upon-Avon on 4–5 September for its annual Summer Conference. The two-day programme brought together the full spectrum of industry voices to share knowledge, explore challenges, and debate the trends shaping the future of meetings and events.

Jacqui Kavanagh, CEO of EDGE Venues, said:

“EDGE Venues is about more than connecting people with spaces, we’re shaping the future of our industry. This conference has shown the power of collaboration and vision. By embracing technology, reimagining experiences, and investing in people, we are not just responding to change, we are leading it.”

The conference opened with the Agency Tech Summit, where 50 agency professionals gathered for deep-dive discussions on artificial intelligence, collaboration, and commercialisation. The sessions looked at how AI can enhance rather than replace expertise, with conversations focusing on how to harness innovation while ensuring accuracy, security, and professional value remain central.

EDGE also showcased how its platform is helping agencies tackle one of their biggest challenges, limited venue knowledge, by unlocking smarter tools, providing greater transparency, and supporting agencies in their role as trusted consultants to clients.

The second day began with a private breakfast meeting for more than 30 hotel groups, who were given a sneak peek of EDGE Groups, set to launch later this year. The session highlighted how hotels can strengthen partnerships and tap into new business opportunities through EDGE.

The focus then widened to the main conference, where over 160 delegates attended multiple panel sessions covering critical themes for the sector. Key topics included market resilience, the importance of innovation and agility, and how to elevate customer experience through both service and technology.

Panellists emphasised the need for venues to adapt to evolving delegate expectations, from addressing infrastructure challenges such as EV charging points to preparing for compliance with Martyn’s Law. Sessions also explored how the industry can nurture the next generation of talent through graduate schemes and apprenticeships, as well as how strong leadership and communication can build resilience within teams.

Scott Ford, Managing Director of EDGE Venues commented:

“The event was designed with a clear purpose, to bring the varied audiences of EDGE together and demonstrate how the platform is supporting its users with tools, insights, and data-led solutions. Interactive polls held throughout the event helped steer panel conversational topics, ensuring discussions were both relevant and reflective of attendee priorities.”

The two-day programme closed with networking on the terrace, where guests enjoyed sunshine, a relaxed barbecue, and the chance to continue conversations.

Trailer #2 for Jackie Chan’s ‘The Shadow’s Edge’ Action Thriller Film

“They could be in disguise – don’t let anyone slip by!” CMC Pictures has debuted a second trailer for the action thriller from China titled The Shadow’s Edge, which is already playing in theaters (including in the US) as of a few weeks ago. This is the second film Jackie Chan has made with filmmaker Larry Yang after also working on Ride On (2023) together previously. “Trust collapses. Truth twists. No one’s identity is safe. The hunt is on — step by step, move by move.” The legend returns — Jackie Chan is back on the front line, facing off against criminal mastermind (Leung Ka Fai Tony) and his elite “Wolf Pack” in a full-throttle war of shadows and strategy. Lots of trickery going on. Also starring Zhang Zi Feng, Tony Leung Ka-fai, Ci Sha, Jun, and Zhou Zheng Jie. This is a much better trailer this time around, compared to the first one which didn’t feature as much action footage. This new international trailer also features a hilarious English dub voiceover, which is quite unnecessary, along with a boat load of violence. Really selling it! Have a look.

Here’s the second international trailer for Larry Yang’s film The Shadow’s Edge, direct from YouTube:

You can rewatch the first trailer for Larry Yang’s The Shadow’s Edge movie right here for more footage.

The cunning and treacherous thieves challenged the Macau Judiciary Police in multiple dimensions. The Judiciary Police, which was in a tough battle, invited back the tracking expert Huang De Zhong who had retired for many years to join forces with the young elite of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Judiciary Police. Under the collision of traditional tracking techniques and high technology, the police and the criminals fought wits and courage, and launched a cat-and-mouse game-like duel between good and evil. The Shadow’s Edge, originally known as 捕风追影 or Bu Feng Zhui Ying in Mandarin, is written and directed by Chinese filmmaker Larry Yang, director of the films Sorry I Love You, Mountain Cry, Another Shot, and Adoring previously, as well as Ride On also with Jackie Chan. Produced by Victoria Hon. This will open in theaters in China starting this week. CMC Pictures will also debut Larry Yang’s The Shadow’s Edge in select US & Canadian theaters starting on August 22nd, 2025 this summer. Who wants to watch this?

Christian LeBlanc Has Michael Baldwin Reclaim His Sharp Edge

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Christian LeBlanc, understandably, departed from Michael Baldwin’s reputation as being the smartest man in the room, earlier this year on The Young and the Restless when he “broke up” with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) over his vendetta with the Abbotts.

The split was emotional and Michael, despite what Victor may have thought, was devastated that he couldn’t find a way to make the mogul see what he was doing was wrong.

LeBlanc had Michael reclaim his reputation for being savvier than his opponents are when he matched wits with Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) this week. As a result, TV Insider is honoring LeBlanc with Daytime Performer of the Week honors.

Cane told Michael he’d made a smart move by coming to see him. “I’ll be the judge of that,” Michael responded. Forget about being the judge — Michael quickly showed Cane he was a savvy litigator by refusing to let the mogul have the upper hand. Michael only needed to refer to recent events to show Cane he was not the man in charge.

“What were you expecting? A parade?” Michael calmly remarked to Cane when he wryly commented on how well he’d been received since coming back to Genoa City. Michael reminded his host that his party in France resulted in the death of two men (Damian and Chance) and Cane’s ex-wife Lily (Christel Khalil) being sandbagged, and Nick (Joshua Morrow) was held captive and almost died.

CBS

“And you ticked off Victor by daring – rumor has it – by attempting to pirate his own companies out from under him?” Michael pointed out.

Michael took control of his meeting with Cane by summing up the billionaire’s missteps as if he were making opening remarks in a courtroom. If one were present, a judge may have declared Michael a winner right then and there.

Michael went on to point out to Cane that by manipulating the control of information, he was stirring up trouble. The legal eagle smirked when Cane claimed to be an open book. He took him up on his offer to ask him anything by wanting to know why Cane invited Michael and Lauren (Tracey Bregman) to his chateau along with other Genoa City power players.

“Why did you invite me here tonight?” Michael continued, staring down Cane.

Cane replied by wanting to ask Michael a question. The attorney sighed and quipped, “I don’t think you understand how this works.”

Cane attempted to get control of the meeting by pointing out that he’d heard Michael was out of work. As fans of the actor know, LeBlanc brings a rapid-fire wit to his character. As a result, Michael tends to emerge as the winner when he fires off zingers like, “I prefer to think of it as enjoying my retirement” and “I usually lead with the truth — you should try it sometime.”

Cane asked Michael why he quit Victor’s employ. Rather than reveal the emotional heartbreak that went into the decision, Michael quipped that maybe he wanted more time to take up Ikebana (a quick Google search explains that that’s the Japanese art of flower arranging).

“Just to be clear,” Michael asserted as Cane continued to probe and point out Victor being unreasonable, “not being afraid of something is not the same thing as welcoming it.” Deliveries like this support the statement that Michael’s the smartest man in the room.

When Cane revealed he has employees who enjoy working for him, Michael quipped that Carter (Vincent Stalba), Cane’s homicidal assistant, was a great example of that.

Even in the tensest scenes, LeBlanc has the ability to organically infuse situations with humor. He agreed to hand over his phone to Cane so that he could add his digits to it. “You added it to my favorites,” marveled Michael after receiving it back.

Cane texted Michael what his starting salary could be. “It’s quite the amount,” Michael conceded.

Still, Michael refused to come forward with specifics on his dynamic with Victor. “I will not betray that man,” he insisted.

Christian LeBlanc as Michael Baldwin — 'The Young and the Restless'

CBS

Cane clearly made inroads with Michael (money tends to do that!). In an effort to claim victory, he pointed out that the attorney wasn’t saying no to his offer. “I’m not saying yes,” responded Michael, his arms defensively folded across his chest.

Michael came to see Cane because he was curious and likely had no intention of being manipulated by him. Ironically, his strength and cunning only made Cane want him on his team even more.

While Michael may be seduced by Cane’s financial offer, Cane would be wise to realize that Michael is loyal to his friends, and he knows how to come out on top, too!
