Has Sydney Sweeney Commented on American Eagle Jeans Ad Controversy? – Hollywood Life

Sydney Sweeney appeared in an American Eagle campaign titled “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,” and the internet has been in flames ever since. Dropping in July 2025, the campaign featured the 27-year-old actress advertising the new denim line, and it divided social media over race and beauty standards. Now that American Eagle has addressed the debate, has Sydney?

Below, get an update on Sydney’s reaction to the criticism.

Why Did the Sydney Sweeney American Eagle Ad Spark Criticism?

There are several reasons why the “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans” ad created a social media firestorm. People accused American Eagle of glamorizing racist rhetoric by using the term, “great genes,” interchangeably with “great jeans.” Since Sydney is a white, blonde actress, critics claimed the advertisement favored the blue-eyed, blonde-haired, white female image rather than a woman of color.

Others slammed AE for sexualizing the actress in its campaign. Sydney is seen in various videos getting dressed with the advertised jeans and leaning into the hood of a car, with the camera focusing on her figure.

Numerous social media commenters threatened to never buy from AE again, but others have defended the brand while blasting the critics for turning the campaign into an argument. Conservative media personalities have also slammed the “radical left” for politicizing the ad.

Has Sydney Sweeney Commented on the American Eagle Jeans Ad?

Yes, Sydney broke her silence on the matter during a November 2025 interview with GQ.

“I did a jean ad. I mean, the reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans,” the actress said, adding that it was “surreal” to see Donald Trump and JD Vance support her jeans campaign.

Nevertheless, Sydney didn’t see the full scope of the scrutiny her ad was under, and she attributed that to her hectic filming schedule.

“I kind of just put my phone away,” she said. “I was filming every day. I’m filming Euphoria, so I’m working 16-hour days and I don’t really bring my phone on set, so I work and then I go home and I go to sleep. So, I didn’t really see a lot of [the backlash].”

This wasn’t the first time that Sydney responded to criticism. While training for her highly physical role in the upcoming Christy Martin biopic, Sydney was bullied by social media trolls over her body. In response to the comments, Sydney shared an Instagram video in December 2024 featuring screenshots of derogatory online remarks followed by clips of her working out in preparation to portray Christy. She did not include a caption with the post.

What Did American Eagle Say About Its ‘Great Jeans’ Ad?

About a week after being mauled with frustrated comments online, American Eagle released a statement on social media defending its advertisement.

“‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story,” AE insisted in its statement. “We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.”

Sydney Sweeney responds to American Eagle jeans furore

Sydney Sweeney wasn’t affected by the American Eagle jeans controversy.

Sydney Sweeney caused controversy with her American Eagle jeans advertising campaign

The Euphoria actress was at the centre of a furore earlier this year after starring in the brand’s ‘Great Jeans’ advertisements – which were accused of glorifying her white heritage and physique – and she admits that the response caught her by “surprise” as she felt the campaign was innocuous.

Sydney told GQ magazine: “I did a jean ad. I mean, the reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans. All I wear are jeans. I’m literally in jeans and a T-shirt every day of my life… I knew at the end of the day what that ad was for, and it was great jeans, it didn’t affect me one way or the other.”

The 28-year-old star explained that she never considered addressing the backlash as she doesn’t want others to “define” her.

Sydney said: “I’ve always believed that I’m not here to tell people what to think.

“I know who I am. I know what I value. I know that I’m a kind person. I know that I love a lot, and I know that I’m just excited to see what happens next. And so I don’t really let other people define who I am.”

The Anyone but You actress did find it “surreal” when US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance waded into the debate – although she ignored the controversy for the most part.

Sweeney recalled: “I kind of just put my phone away. I was filming every day. I’m filming Euphoria, so I’m working 16-hour days and I don’t really bring my phone on set, so I work and then I go home and I go to sleep. So I didn’t really see a lot of it.”

Sydney has been promoting Christy – her new biopic about the female boxing trailblazer Christy Martin – and would be disappointed if people refused to watch the movie because of her involvement in the American Eagle campaign.

She said: “I think that if somebody is closed off because of something they read online to a powerful story like Christy, then I hope that something else can open their eyes to being open to art and being open to learning, and I’m not going to be affected by that.”

Sydney Sweeney on Trump’s Reaction to Her American Eagle Ad: ‘It Was Surreal’

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Over the past year, Sydney Sweeney has starred in two movies and a TV show, and filmed season three of one of the buzziest TV shows of the decade. But it’s her personal life that’s become something of a national obsession. In May, she confirmed she had ended her engagement with her fiancé, Jonathan Davino; around the same time, she released a controversial, limited-edition batch of soaps allegedly made up of her bathwater in collaboration with the men’s brand Dr. Squatch; then, in August, she starred in an ad campaign for American Eagle ad which ignited a national debate.

In the wake of the discourse, the 28-year-old did not address the backlash directly. Instead, social media commentators led the charge—including President Donald Trump. On August 4, Trump wrote on Truth Social that Sweeney had “the hottest ad out there,” and then went on to declare that “being WOKE is for losers,” among other strange claims.

Now, in an interview for GQ’s Men of the Year issue, Sweeney has finally addressed the reactions to the ad, as well as her thoughts on the president’s statement. “It was surreal,” Sweeney said when asked about Trump’s post.

As for the backlash itself, Sweeney said, “I did a jean ad. I mean, the reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans. All I wear are jeans. I’m literally in jeans and a T-shirt every day of my life.”

She went on to say that she wasn’t paying much attention to the discourse at its height because she was working such long hours filming Euphoria. “I wasn’t thinking of it like that, of any of it,” she explained. “I kind of just put my phone away. I was filming every day. I’m filming Euphoria, so I’m working 16-hour days and I don’t really bring my phone on set, so I work and then I go home and I go to sleep. So I didn’t really see a lot of it.”

As a refresher, in the ad, Sweeney referenced Brooke Shields’s controversial 1980 Calvin Klein jeans ad with a monologue about genes. The campaign tag line for Sweeney’s American Eagle collaboration was “My jeans are blue.” On social media, some claimed that Sweeney, who has stayed mum on her political affiliations for her entire career but is rumored to be a registered Republican, was signaling a belief in the superiority of her genes, specifically blue eyes. The reaction, and then the reaction to the reaction, quickly snowballed on social media and beyond, becoming something of a litmus test for one’s progressive or conservative bonafides.

“Known throughout Wildwood as The General. She embodies power & unshakeable grace.” Laika revealed a fascinating 3-minute making of featurette for their next stop-motion animated movie called Wildwood – now set for release sometime in 2026. We featured the very first teaser for this back in 2024 – they’ve been developing it for years and it’s only now finishing up. The character of Prue was revealed in the first look – Prue McKeel (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) and her friend Curtis are drawn into a hidden, magical forest near Portland after Prue’s baby brother Mac is kidnapped by crows, led by a mysterious woman. The voice cast includes Jacob Tremblay as Curtis, Carey Mulligan, Awkwafina, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amandla Stenberg, Tom Waits, Jemaine Clement, & Richard E. Grant. This promo focuses on their famous stop-motion studio (based in Portland) figure out how to create the magical Golden Eagle character. They built 2 extraordinary puppets used in filming. “Meet The General, voiced by Angela Bassett, a fierce warrior and leader of the skies. Behind the scenes, the brilliant artists at Laika Studios are hand-crafting a character that soars beyond the screen through breathtaking stop-motion animation.” Can’t wait to see more. I love watching videos of stop-motion animation craft, always astonishing what they make.

Here’s the first look featurette for Travis Knight’s new film Wildwood, direct from Laika’s YouTube:

Wildwood – based on Colin Meloy’s illustrated book series – will see Prue McKeel leave behind her home of Portland, Oregon, venturing into Wildwood on a dark quest to save her baby brother, who’s been pilfered by a murder of crows. Wildwood is once again directed by filmmaker Travis Knight, who is also CEO of Laika, and director of the the movies Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee previously. The screenplay is written by Chris Butler (ParaNorman, Kubo and the Two Strings, Missing Link). Based on the graphic novel series written by Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis. Produced by Arianne Sutner and Travis Knight. Made by Laika Entertainment’s animators based in Portland, Oregon. There’s no final release date for Wildwood yet – expected to arrive in early 2026. Travis Kelce’s American Eagle Collection: The Controversy (and Taylor Swift Theories), Explained

by jummy84 August 28, 2025

Travis Kelce has some big news! He just dropped a new collab with American Eagle! Why, what did you think we were talking about? Kidding, kidding.

In all seriousness, though, Kelce and Taylor Swift’s engagement era is not the only big thing happening for the NFL player right now. Which is not to say we don’t see some of Swift’s influence in Kelce’s latest project.

American Eagle

On August 27, a day after the engagement announcement, AE announced the upcoming launch of AE x Tru Kolors by Travis Kelce. Tru Kolors is Kelce’s sportswear and lifestyle brand, which he first launched in 2019. The collaboration with American Eagle will be a limited-edition collection available until September 24. Said Kelce in the press release, “I want everyone to feel like there is something for them in the collection, something they can feel good in and make their own. I’m excited for it to finally be out in the world.” The campaign stars some of Kelce’s fellow elite athletes: Anna Frey, Azzi Fudd, Drew Allar, Jeremiah Smith, Kiyan Anthony, and Suni Lee.

Kelce also posted an ad for the collection on his personal Instagram. The video shows Kelce parking a fancy green sports car and walking into a gym while wearing a deep V-neck cable-knit sweater. Especially with the stripe accents, Kelce’s pullover in this ad looks remarkably similar to a certain chunky cable-knit cardigan that Swift wore in her “Cardigan” music video. It wouldn’t be the craziest thing in the world to imagine that Kelce got some sartorial inspiration from his fiancée.

Travis Kelce’s Collaboration With American Eagle

13. Travis has three personal trainers—Alex Skacel, Andrew Spruill and Laurence Justin Ng—and, according to The Athletic, one usually travels with him wherever he goes to ensure he remains in football-catching shape all year round.

Alex, who’s also a physical therapist, recalled Travis wanting to go for a late night run after taking in a slate full of shows during Paris Fashion Week because he missed working out that day.

“It’s midnight, and we’re doing sprints over the bridges over the river,” the trainer told the New York Times in April. “No matter where he is, he finds time to get done whatever he needs to get done.”

14. Travis’ personal chef, Kumar Ferguson, has been a friend since the fourth grade in Cleveland Heights.

He was an amateur cook working as a truck driver in 2016 when Travis called him up and offered him the opportunity.

“He’s like, ‘Hey man, I want to take my diet seriously, and take it to the next level,'” Kumar told Vanity Fair in 2023. “I’m like, s–t, let’s do it. Three or four days later, I was in Kansas City.”

He’s been responsible for everything from stocking Travis’ fridge to delivering well-balanced lunches to the Chiefs’ training facility.

Devin: The American Gold Eagle Consultant Safeguarding Wealth with Vision

Devin: The American Gold Eagle Consultant Safeguarding Wealth with Vision

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

In a world where financial markets swing with uncertainty and investors seek stable ground, few figures have risen to prominence quite like Devin, widely regarded as the American Gold Eagle Consultant. With his deep knowledge of bullion, an unwavering commitment to client education, and a reputation for delivering clarity in uncertain times, Devin has become a trusted guide for individuals and families looking to protect their wealth through goldparticularly the iconic American Gold Eagle coin.

The Symbolism of the American Gold Eagle

The American Gold Eagle is more than just a coin; it is a statement of trust, resilience, and national pride. First issued by the United States Mint in 1986, the coin quickly became a cornerstone of bullion investment. Struck in 22-karat gold and backed by the U.S. government, it symbolizes security and authenticity qualities that align perfectly with Devin’s consulting philosophy.

Devin has long been drawn to the symbolism of the eagle. To him, it represents not only freedom but also vision the ability to rise above volatility and keep a long-term perspective. As he often explains to clients, “The eagle doesn’t fear storms; it uses them to fly higher.” That metaphor captures his approach to wealth preservation through bullion.

The Rise of the American Gold Eagle Consultant

Devin’s journey into the world of precious metals began when he noticed how vulnerable many portfolios were to sudden market shifts. Stocks, bonds, and even real estate could fluctuate dramatically, leaving investors feeling exposed. He recognized that gold and particularly the American Gold Eagle offered a safeguard unlike any other.

Rather than simply investing himself, Devin took the path of mentorship and consulting. Over the years, he has guided countless clients toward building balanced, resilient portfolios anchored in bullion. His ability to translate complex financial trends into simple, actionable strategies has made him a standout voice in an often-confusing industry.

Why Gold and Why Now?

The appeal of gold stretches back thousands of years. Empires have risen and fallen, currencies have come and gone, but gold has remained a universal store of value. Today, in an era marked by inflationary pressures, global instability, and digital uncertainty, gold is once again at the forefront of wealth preservation.

The American Gold Eagle, in particular, carries advantages that resonate with modern investors. Recognized worldwide, backed by the U.S. Mint, and available in fractional sizes,

it offers both accessibility and trust. Devin emphasizes that these qualities make it not just an asset, but a cornerstone of financial resilience.

Devin’s First Philosophy

What distinguishes Devin as the American Gold Eagle Consultant is not only his expertise but his dedication to education. He believes that clients should never feel like passive participants in their financial journey. Instead, they should walk away with knowledge, confidence, and a sense of ownership over their decisions.

In every consultation, Devin takes the time to explain the role bullion plays within a diversified portfolio. He demystifies terms, breaks down charts, and puts global events into context. For his clients, this is not just about buying gold it is about understanding why gold matters. That clarity, they say, is just as valuable as the coins themselves.

The Eagle’s Perspective: Seeing Beyond the Storm

Much like the eagle soaring high above, Devin has a unique talent for spotting trends before they become mainstream. Whether it is predicting inflationary surges, identifying geopolitical risks, or anticipating shifts in currency markets, he interprets these changes through the lens of gold’s enduring value.

This forward-looking perspective is what his clients value most. They do not see him simply as a consultant, they see him as a partner who helps them navigate storms with confidence. With his guidance, they gain not only stronger portfolios but also peace of mind.

A Balanced Approach to Precious Metals

While Devin often highlights the American Gold Eagle as the foundation of bullion investment, he also educates clients on the broader landscape of precious metals. Silver, platinum, and palladium all have unique roles to play. His tailored strategies ensure that portfolios are not only protected but also positioned for long-term opportunity.

By showing how bullion complements other asset classes, Devin helps clients build wealth that is resilient, diversified, and adaptable. His philosophy is clear: bullion is not a relic of the past—it is a living, dynamic part of modern wealth management.

Building Trust, Building Legacies

Perhaps Devin’s greatest impact lies in the trust he cultivates. Behind every coin purchase is a story—a family safeguarding its future, an entrepreneur protecting decades of hard work, or a retiree seeking stability in uncertain times. Devin understands these personal stakes, and that awareness shapes every recommendation he makes.

Clients often describe working with him as transformative, not only for their portfolios but for their outlook on financial security. They credit him with not just preserving wealth but empowering them to think generationally to view their assets not only as numbers but as legacies to be protected.

Looking to the Future

As economic landscapes continue to shift, bullion’s role in wealth preservation will only grow more important. And as long as investors seek stability, clarity, and long-term vision, Devin’s work as the American Gold Eagle Consultant will remain essential.

For those looking to rise above uncertainty, Devin offers more than financial expertise, he offers the perspective of the eagle, the resilience of gold, and the confidence that their wealth is secured by one of the most trusted assets in the world.

In an era where volatility seems inevitable, Devin has emerged as a guiding force in wealth preservation. As the American Gold Eagle Consultant, he helps clients build portfolios that are not only stable but also visionary. Just as the eagle soars above the storm, Devin ensures his clients’ wealth rises above uncertainty, anchored in trust, strengthened by gold, and designed to last for generations.
