The pair took on everything from “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” to “Shallow” on The Tonight Show

Ariana Grande appeared on The Tonight Show ahead of the arrival of Wicked: For Good and took the opportunity to showcase a brief history of famous duets with host Jimmy Fallon.

The duo rolled through a series of duets, including Wicked musical number “For Good,” Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “Shallow,” and Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine.” Their performance spanned both Broadway and film, including animated flicks like Aladdin. They concluded with Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes’ “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life.”

Grande also sat down with Fallon to discuss Wicked: For Good, which in theaters Friday, and her upcoming slot hosting Saturday Night Live alongside musical guest Cher. “I’m so excited,” Grande said of SNL. “I didn’t know it was going to be her until like two days before, and I found out and I almost passed out. I had no idea what to do. What an honor.” She added, “This is one of the gayest SNL episodes that has ever happened, right?”

The singer reflected on making both Wicked films at the same time. “It was interesting to watch it so many years after we had finished because shot both simultaneously,” she said of the sequel. “So in my head they’re both one story and one experience.” She added that she’s “grateful” it was split into two movies because “you really get to know Glinda the way that I got to know her and to love her in order to play her.”

After Wicked: For Good, Grande will prepare to head out on the road for her Eternal Sunshine tour, which will mark her first extended run of concert dates since 2019. But in a new interview on Amy Poehler‘s Good Hang podcast, the singer says she has no plans for another tour in the foreseeable future.

“The last 10 or 15 years will look very different to the ones that are coming up,” she said. “I don’t want to say anything definitive. I do know that I’m very excited to do this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long, long time. I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to be beautiful. I think that’s why I’m doing it because I’m like, ‘One last hurrah!’”

Gretchen Wilson Is Re-Recording ‘Here for the Party’ as Duets Album

More than 20 years after Gretchen Wilson released her empowering breakthrough single, “Redneck Woman,” the song continues to speak to listeners. Arguably, that’s even more true today, when identifying as blue collar, country, or, yes, redneck is worn as a badge of honor by many. But when Wilson released the song in 2004, that wasn’t necessarily the case in country music.

“‘Redneck Woman’ was just different enough at that time and authentic enough in that moment to become an anthem for women who weren’t being talked to, or talked about either,” Wilson says on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast. “I’m a very proud woman. I actually like myself. I like the things I’ve been able to accomplish.”

Wilson, who won a Grammy for “Redneck Woman” in the Best Female Country Vocal Performance category in 2005, is teeing up a new accomplishment: The Illinois native says she’s re-recording her debut album, Here for the Party, as an all-star duets project for her own indie label, Redneck Records.

“I’m going to have a guest vocalist on each song. I’ve gotten some promises from some pretty big names. You know how music works, though. They don’t actually have to be there the day I’m tracking it,” Wilson says. “But I’ve gotten far enough to know what key everybody’s song needs to be in.”

Wilson is bullish on naming names. She says Tanya Tucker will sing on “Redneck Woman” and Cody Johnson will duet on the LP’s unconventional love ballad. “I played a show a few weeks ago with [him] and he told me he and his wife have a favorite song on that record: ‘When I Think About Cheating,’” Wilson says.

Wilson also says Miranda Lambert and Travis Tritt are on board, and that she’s “almost 100 percent” on securing Ella Langley.

Along with the Here for the Party re-record, Wilson has been busy advising contestants on CBS’s new musical competition series, The Road. Produced by Yellowstone’s Taylor Sheridan, the show is hosted by Keith Urban and Blake Shelton and casts Wilson in the role of “tour manager.”

“This show follows these individuals much more closely than any show you’ve seen like it. And it’s a lot more real life. We’re putting them on tour buses, taking them across the country, putting them in bars. It’s not a built-in audience,” she says. “It’s a lot more realistic to what it really is to be on tour and to be on the road.”

Dua Lipa Duets With Gwen Stefani At Fourth L.A. Show

Dua Lipa has been peppering her in-progress North American arena tour with surprise guests and covers, and her just-concluded four-night run at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum was no different. At the final show last night (Oct. 8), the artist welcomed Gwen Stefani for a duet on No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak,” and the night before, she brought out Lionel Richie for a version of his ’80s hit “All Night Long.”

Before Stefani emerged, Lipa described her as “one of my personal heroes, one of my favorite artists, someone who I’ve grown up listening to my whole life, who’s influenced my music, influenced my style, someone who I love as a performer, and someone who just constantly keeps redefining herself and music. I just absolutely love that this incredible woman is here tonight.”

Lipa nodded to the California setting with a couple of covers during the run, including Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” on opening night and the Mamas & The Papas’ “California Dreamin’” at the following show. Artists such as Leon Bridges, Lenny Kravitz and Chaka Khan have made special appearances throughout the trek, which comes in support of Lipa’s 2024 album, Radical Optimism.

“Unreal scenes!!!,” Lipa later wrote on Instagram. “Very insane!!! Thank you for four beautiful nights in your city. I’ve loved every single moment.”

The North American leg of the Radical Optimism tour concludes Oct. 16 in Seattle and will be followed by a South American leg kicking off Nov. 7 in Buenos Aires.

Bad Bunny has officially concluded his No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan — and he ended the historic run with a night full of surprises.

During Saturday night’s (Sept. 20) “Una Más” show, the Puerto Rican superstar brought out fellow icon Marc Anthony for a powerful and emotional performance of “Preciosa,” a beloved anthem honoring their homeland.

“I haven’t sung this song in over 20 years,” Bad Bunny told the crowd at El Choli, before inviting Anthony to join him onstage.

Watch the performance on X here.

“Preciosa” was originally composed by Rafael Hernández Marín in 1937 and later recorded by Anthony for his 1999 album, Desde un Principio: From the Beginning.

But the surprises didn’t stop there. Bad Bunny also welcomed an all-star lineup of Puerto Rican talent, including RaiNao, Dei V, Ñengo Flow, Arcángel, De La Ghetto and Jowell & Randy. Chuwi also joined him once again for their track “Weltita,” which the pair performed every night during the lengthy residency.

In an emotional speech toward the end of the show, Bad Bunny addressed the crowd with gratitude and love.

“I have always had the same passion, love for what I’m doing. I promise I will never change. I love you, Puerto Rico. I love you, mom and dad,” he said, later adding, “It doesn’t matter what your issue or problem is, love will always be the solution.”

Saturday’s show marked more than just the end of the residency. It also commemorated the eighth anniversary of Hurricane Maria and launched a multiyear initiative between Bad Bunny and Amazon Music focused on education, disaster relief and cultural empowerment. The partnership will include programs aimed at strengthening Puerto Rico’s economy and driving meaningful, long-term change across the island, a press release states.

The show was broadcast worldwide via livestream on the Amazon Music app, the Amazon Music channel on Twitch, and was available to all Amazon customers on Prime Video. Saturday’s livestream was the most watched single artist performance on Amazon Music to date, according to a news release.

Bad Bunny’s historic 30-day No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency drew over 250,000 attendees, solidifying Puerto Rico as a premier entertainment destination. The residency also boosted the local economy and supported small businesses. Throughout the run, he was joined by a roster of surprise guests, including Belinda, Residente, Feid, Rauw Alejandro and Ozuna.
