Legendary Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, who gifted Bollywood and the Assamese music industry countless timeless songs, was cremated with full state honors in Guwahati on September 23. His untimely demise left his family, fans, and the entire nation in deep sorrow. Yet, amidst this profound grief, his wife Garima Saikia Garg has shown immense strength by vowing to fulfill her late husband’s final dream.

After thousands of fans bid farewell to the celebrated singer and philanthropist, Garima revealed details about Zubeen’s unfinished project. Before his sudden death in Singapore on September 19, Zubeen was passionately working on his upcoming film Roi Roi Binale. Garima shared that this project has now become her life’s mission. She said, “Right now, my only purpose is to complete his dream. We are working on his last film, Roi Roi Binale, which he wanted to release on October 31. He was deeply passionate about it and had even acted in the film, playing a blind artist in a musical love story.”

However, Garima expressed regret that Zubeen could not record his voice dubbing for the film. “That is the only thing missing. He had completed shooting, but the dubbing was left. Still, we will move forward with his vision and ensure the film reaches audiences on the date he had planned,” she added. According to her, most of the film’s work, including the music was pending post-production. Zubeen hadn’t started the background score either.

Garima confirmed that the team would immediately resume work to honor his memory. “This is my first priority. After this, I will also try to complete every other project he had envisioned. Along with the younger generation, we will carry forward his legacy,” she affirmed. Zubeen Garg’s sudden death while scuba diving in Singapore shocked fans worldwide. The Assam government has announced that his 13th-day rituals will be organized in Jorhat, along with plans to build a memorial at his cremation site.

Pan-India Dream | When The Cracks Began To Show | Part 2 | Glamsham.com

If the first wave of pan-India films created hysteria, the second wave has met with sobering reality. The sheen of cross-industry casting is fading, exposed by projects that could not match their own hype.

The most striking case is Yash Raj Films’ War 2. On paper, it looked unmissable — Bollywood’s Hrithik Roshan paired with Telugu megastar NTR Jr, wrapped in the sheen of the YRF Spy Universe. The film opened strong, but within a week the numbers were sliding. Despite its global release and multi-language promotions, the film ended up bleeding money. What stung more than the financial loss was the collateral damage: YRF’s ambitious spin-off centered on NTR’s character, pitched as the South’s gateway into the Spy Universe, was quietly shelved. The promise of a long-term partnership dissolved overnight.

THIS IS WAR There will be CARNAGE in theatres today. Proud of #War2 and can’t wait to see your reactions to this entertainer. Only in cinemas near you in Hindi, Telugu & Tamil.

Down south, a similar story unfolded. Rajinikanth’s Coolie was meant to be more than another superstar vehicle; it was also a platform for Aamir Khan to step into Tamil cinema, if only for a cameo. The plan was clear — build momentum for a larger project between Aamir and director Lokesh Kanagaraj, a fusion of Bollywood perfectionism with Tamil storytelling bravado. But the cameo landed with a thud, failing to ignite either hype or box office fireworks. Soon after, the much-hyped Aamir–Lokesh project was shelved.

And then came the tremors from Kalki 2898 AD. The sci-fi epic was perhaps the most ambitious Indian production in years, and Deepika Padukone was its beating heart on the Bollywood front. But as the sequel geared up, news broke that Deepika had walked away. The producers issued a polite statement about “commitment,” but trade whispers told a murkier tale — a reduced role, fee disputes, and working condition demands that clashed with the production’s scale. What was intended to be a flagship pan-India saga suddenly found itself stripped of its leading lady.

These are not small hiccups; they are symptoms. Together, they suggest that the very model of pan-India filmmaking — built on inflated budgets, cross-industry star casting, and franchise planning — is facing resistance. The cracks are now visible, and the industry is watching closely.

Stay tuned for Part 3

This Look Sarah Pidgeon Wore as Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy on ‘American Love Story’ Is My Dream Fall Outfit

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Sometimes, paparazzi shots from a set can spoil the plot of the upcoming movie or series. But there is one advantage to losing the element of surprise: fashion inspo. A perfect example of this is a recent look worn by actor Sarah Pidgeon as she plays Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy on the set of American Love Story, a new series from Ryan Murphy about the style icon and her marriage to John F. Kennedy Jr.

In the 1990s Bessette-Kennedy made her mark in fashion, becoming a style icon that designers and fans alike pinned to their mood boards. She was the original queen of what we now call “quiet luxury.” She shaped her minimalist looks without frills, prints, or excessive accessories. Instead, she focused on well-tailored wardrobe essentials. At her wedding to JFK Jr., for example, she wore a simple white silk slip dress cut on the bias.

So naturally, images from the set of Murphy’s upcoming series about the couple, American Love Story, have found their way onto every Instagram feed. As a result, there’s been a renewed appreciation for the Bessette-Kennedy’s fashion.

Her minimalist style from the 1990s has proved to still be as relevant as ever, so it’s not surprising that I was recently taken with a photograph of Pidgeon as Bessette-Kennedy on the streets of New York. The actor was wearing a black knit cardigan, khaki pants, a pair of square-heeled sandals, and a Birkin bag.

The look is so quintessentially “quiet luxury” that I instantly added it to my fall mood board. Assuming you’d like to do the same, I shopped out a few similar pieces for you, below.

The Surreal Disney Cartoon That Inspired Fever Dream Episodes of ‘Futurama’ & ‘Ted Lasso’

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

In 1950, Disney released an educational short titled Donald in Mathmagic Land, a 27-minute animated featurette in which the infamous belligerent duck with a speech impediment visits a surreal world filled with geometric shapes, numbers, and puzzles. Adorable, eye-catching, and credited for making mathematics accessible to generations of children, the toon is recognized for inspiring many future scientists, mathematicians, and engineers… and apparently TV writers, as it was used as the massive inspiration for both Futurama and Ted Lasso.

Guided by a disembodied narrator (voiced by Paul Frees, a.k.a. The Ghost Host for all you Disney adults out there), Donald in Mathmagic Land was much more than just a cartoon about math. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject), and Walt Disney himself called it “the most interesting film we have ever made” in terms of educational value. More importantly, the brilliant mix of classic Disney animation, abstract design, and colorful visuals made it incredibly memorable.

In 1961, it became the first Disney cartoon ever televised in color as the premiere episode of The Wonderful World of Color, and it often played in syndication for generations, allowing audiences to watch and absorb its trippy, dippy lessons in geometry.

Is it any wonder it got a wink from the writers of Ted Lasso and Futurama, who can’t resist raiding pop culture’s attic for inspiration?

In Season 3 Episode 6 of Ted Lasso (“Sunflowers”), Ted (Jason Sudeikis) finds himself in an American-themed sports bar in Amsterdam while high on mushrooms (as one does). As he sits watching an old basketball game he once shared with his father, a disembodied voice calling itself “The True Spirit of Adventure” (voiced by Corey Burton), who materializes and offers him advice on triangles, inspiring him to try “Total Football” with his players.

It’s no coincidence that this shares the name of the narrator in Donald in Mathmagic Land, who guides Donald through his lessons in spatial design. In addition to the name connection, just as the Disney waterfowl was guided by Frees, a popular Disney voice actor, Lasso is guided by Corey Burton, the voice of Captain Hook, Ludwig Von Drake, Dale, the Mad Hatter, and other iconic Disney characters.

Pretty neat, right? It gets better.

That takes us to Season 13 of Futurama, a show that is no stranger to satirizing pop culture references, no matter how obscure. Given the extraordinarily high level of mad genius on the writing staff, many of whom hold PhDs from Ivy League universities, it makes sense that many of the gags would be peppered with ambiguous references such as puns on architect Buckminster Fuller and the P vs NP problem in computational complexity theory, nods to Toad the Wet Sprocket, or visual sight gags to ELO’s Out of the Blue album cover, just to name a few.

FUTURAMA

Disney/Matt Groening

In the episode, ‘The Numberland Gap,” the gang travels to a mysterious world inhabited by numbers after receiving a numbered message through Bender’s (John DiMaggio) AM radio that led to an encoded plan in a paint-by-numbers painting. After Amy (Lauren Tom) builds the machine that transports the crew to the abstract world of Numberland, where the Professor (Billy West) meets a captive Georg Cantor and thus begins a dazzling carnival of clever, calculated quips.

It also features Danica McKellar as a head in a jar! From The Wonder Years! A truly whackadoo episode that only the brilliant maniacs over at Futurama can cook up.

“It’s a very experimental episode,” said showrunner and writer David X. Cohen. “So that is one of the most interesting episodes of the year. It’s called ‘The Numberland Gap,’ but it was inspired at Matt Groening’s suggestion by this old Disney cartoon, Donald in Mathmagic Land, where Donald Duck creeps through this land of numbers and has adventures. And he wanted us to do a version of that, but with more actual math in it, as opposed to vague references to how math is important to architecture.

“He said, ‘You guys do something like that, but with real math,’” recalled Cohen. “It sounds kind of hard, but we’re up for the challenge. So our crew goes into a land inhabited entirely by numbers.”

FUTURAMA -

Disney/Matt Groening

“There’s some really spectacular 3D graphics, I have to say, in the two done by our studio, Rough Draft Studios and Scott Vanzo, the 3D director there,” continued Cohen. “I’m very pleased with how it came out. But I’m particularly curious because it’s a wacko episode.”

“So it’s an exceptionally abstract episode, but I think we worked extra hard on it for that reason, and came out pretty funny, and there’s some math in it, but you don’t have to know the math to appreciate it. But for those who do know the math, I think it’ll be an extra treat.”

In the end, Donald in Mathmagic Land didn’t just teach kids about geometry; it also taught TV writers how to turn math into comedy gold and how to find magic and humor in treasures from our shared pop culture past.
