Taylor Swift hits the ARIA Charts for six, as the U.S. pop star extends her reign with The Life Of A Showgirl (via Republic/Universal) and its lead single, “The Fate Of Ophelia.”
As Swift’s latest album completes its sixth week atop the national albums tally, published Friday, Nov. 14, Paul Kelly bags the top new release with Seventy (EMI), his 28th studio album. Seventy opens at No. 2 on the ARIA Chart.
The 70-year-old Kelly is one of Australia’s most-cherished singer-songwriters, boasting a collection of 16 ARIA Awards, induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame (in 1997), and four No. 1 albums with Life Is Fine (No. 1 for one week in 2017), Nature (one week in 2018), Songs From The South: 1985-2019 (one week in 2019), and Paul Kelly’s Christmas Train (one week in 2022).
Homegrown pop-punk band Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers makes a glorious top ten debut, with GLORY (Community Music), their second studio album. Hailing from Canberra, the four-piece snagged the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist award at the 2024 ARIA Awards, after opening the ceremony with a performance, and cracked the ARIA top 10 with 2023’s I Love You (peaking at No. 6).
Spanish superstar Rosalia makes her first top 50 in Australia with Lux (Columbia/Sony), new at No. 15. Lux is already a hit, everywhere. Following its release, the collection accumulated 42.1 million streams in its first 24 hours, the biggest global tally by a female, Spanish-speaking artist.
Meanwhile, veteran Australian country artist James Blundell nabs a top 40 entry with Patience Wins (AMB/MGM), his 12th studio album. It’s new at No. 25.
Western Australia singer-songwriter Stella Donnelly grabs her third top 40 appearance with Love and Fortune (DOT/RMT), new at No. 31. Donnelly previously made a mark with 2019’s Beware Of The Dogs (No. 15) and 2022’s Flood (No. 29).

The four-piece band that consists of Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek, James Krivchenia, and new bassist, Joshua Crumbly, were joined by all of the musicians who appeared on Big Thief’s latest album, Double Infinity: vocalists Laraaji, Alena Spanger, Hannah Cohen, and June McDoom, as well as musicians Caleb Michel, Jon Nellen, Mikel Patrick Avery, and Mikey Buisha.
This complete roster of Double Infinity artists recently came together for a special one-off show at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium on October 25th.

The actress, 50, had the procedure after discovering she carried the BRCA gene mutation that increases the risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
Angelina, best known for roles in Tomb Raider and her latest film Maria, reflected on the surgeries in a new interview with Hello! magazine, explaining how her decision came after losing both her mother and grandmother to cancer.
She said: “I did choose to have that (surgery) because I lost my mother and my grandmother very young.
“I have the BRCA gene, so I chose to have a double mastectomy a decade ago. And then I’ve also had my ovaries removed, because that’s what took my mother.”
Agelina’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died in 2007 aged 56 following a battle with breast and ovarian cancer.
The actress added she felt at peace with her decision to undergo the preventative operations, adding she respected other women’s choices in how they approached their own health.
She said: “Those are my choices. I don’t say everybody should do it that way, but it’s important to have the choice. And I don’t regret it.”
The BRCA (BReast CAncer) gene mutation significantly raises the risk of developing breast and ovarian cancers, often at younger ages, according to the US National Cancer Institute.
Angelina revealed in 2013 that she had undergone a double mastectomy after doctors estimated she had an 87 percent chance of developing breast cancer and a 50 percent chance of ovarian cancer.
She later had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed in 2015.
Her new film, Couture, explores similar themes of illness and resilience.
Angelina stars as Maxine, a woman grappling with a breast cancer diagnosis while navigating the emotional and physical toll of chemotherapy.
Speaking about the film, she said: “I think there’s much to say about this, and it is uniting for not just women but for anybody who’s gone through something, or someone who feels vulnerable and alone.”
While the movie is set in the world of haute couture, Angelina said its focus lies beyond fashion.
She said: “I think it’s not really a film about fashion; it’s a film about the fragility of life.
“Fashion, to me, is a metaphor for the world of appearances; a world where you have to hide your wounds.”
It’s another chart week, another chart double for KPop Demon Hunters (Republic/Universal) in Australia.
The soundtrack to the hit animated Netflix film is flying at the top of the ARIA leaderboard for a ninth non-consecutive week. Among soundtracks, ARIA reports, that effort equals the nine week run by the 1997 soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet.
Since the ARIA Charts were first published in 1983, only four soundtracks have logged more weeks at the top, according to the charts compiler: the Australian cast recording of Jesus Christ Superstar (10 weeks in 1992); plus Titanic (1998), Moulin Rouge (2001) and A Star Is Born (2018), which each led for 11 weeks.
Meanwhile, the top track from KPop Demon Hunters, “Golden,” reigns over the ARIA Singles Chart for a ninth consecutive week. That’s closing in on the all-time mark for a hit from an animated film, currently set at 12 weeks by Pharrell Williams’ 2014 single “Happy” from Despicable Me 2.
Back with the ARIA Albums Chart, Ocean Alley’s Love Balloon (via Community Music) lifts off for a No. 3 debut, the highest start for any new release on the current frame, published Friday, Sept. 26.
Recorded in three stints over about three months, Love Balloon is Ocean Alley’s fifth studio album, and first recorded with legendary American rock producer Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine).
With that bright start, Love Balloon is the Sydney indie-rock outfit’s third consecutive collection to hit No. 3, following 2020’s Lonely Diamond and 2022’s Low Altitude Living. Their breakthrough second album from 2018, Chiaroscuro, which housed the triple j Hottest 100 leader “Confidence,” reached No. 11 on the national survey.
Ocean Alley scores silverware as Love Balloon is crowned on the ARIA Top 20 Australian Albums chart, a feat they celebrated Saturday at London’s Alexandra Palace, with a headline show for more than 8,000 fans.
Also debuting in the top tier is Cardi B‘s sophomore studio album, Am I The Drama? (Atlantic/Warner), new at No. 8. Drama is the followup to the Bronx rapper’s 2018, Invasion Of Privacy, which peaked at No. 5.
Trent Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails bags a top 10 with the soundtrack to TRON: Ares (Interscope/Universal). It’s new at No. 10 for the American industrial rock act’s sixth top tier effort in Australia, a tally that includes a best of No. 2 for 1999’s The Fragile. Daft Punk’s soundtrack to TRON: Legacy reached No. 17 in 2011.
Lola Young just misses out on a top 10 berth with I’m Only F—ing Myself (Island/Universal), her third album. It’s new at No. 12, for the British singer’s first ARIA Albums Chart appearance.
Further down the list, published late Friday, September 26th, Brisbane band Platonic Sex crack the top 40 with their debut album Face To The Flywire (Orchard). It’s new at No. 31.
