‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Hollywood Rally Urges Disney Don’t Bow to Trump

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Just an hour before ABC made the announcement that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” would return to the airwaves on Tuesday, a group of politicians and Hollywood guild leaders held a press conference and rally in front of the show’s Hollywood studio to urge Disney to bring the show back.

“Trump’s allies think the First Amendment comes with an asterisk,” said Rep. Laura Friedman (D-Calif. District 30). “They think that it means it gets free speech as long as Donald Trump likes it. But he does not get to silence dissent. He does not get to tell the American people what to say or what they can and cannot listen to… This is not just about a late night show. It’s about jobs and it’s about our rights as Americans. How the FCC’s job is to protect Americans, not the President’s ego. And I would remind every corporation in America and that many of their business models cannot survive in a world where the government gets to tell them what to say.”

Friedman pulled out a large copy of the First Amendment while adding, “You do not get to cancel the United States Constitution, not today, not tomorrow, not on our watch.”

The press conference did not go off without a hitch; a Trump supporter with a microphone loudspeaker attempted to drown out the event; that’s when attendees shouted back “Free speech!” Later, a low flying Fox 11/KTTV helicopter, which was getting video of the event, also drowned out some of the speakers.

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif. District 32) attempted to point out that the far-right Charlie Kirk has now been lauded as a free speech absolutist — which is why, in his mind, muzzling Kimmel was hypocritical.

“This mafia administration is so bold that they do the language of the mafia in plain sight,” he said. “What this administration is doing, what Brendan Carr is to undermine the words of Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk said you should be allowed to say outrageous things. There is rogue speech, there is evil speech, and it is all protected by the First Amendment. Jimmy Kimmel did not contradict the words of Charlie Kirk. Donald Trump did. His FCC.”

Sherman than said that he personally, as a citizen, planned to boycott and businesses that advertised on ABC at 11:35 p.m. if Kimmel was not brought back. He also said if Kimmel returned, he would support those advertisers — which is presumably what he will now do.

“The First Amendment deals with what we do as a government, and the government should be concerned, but we are also private citizens,” he said. “And I, for one, will be looking at who’s advertising on ABC from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. And speaking just for my own family, if we see Jimmy Kimmel, we’re going to watch those advertisers. And if we see alternative programming, we will be boycotting those who buy the time.”

Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif. District 32), co-chairs the Congressional Creative Rights Caucus, warned that President Trump has been demanding Kimmel’s scalp for some time. “First, Trump wrote, more than two months ago that Jimmy Kimmel’s show should be canceled. Then last week, Trump’s FCC chair said that companies should take action on Kimmel, even saying that they can ‘either do it the easy way or the hard way.’ And the companies got the message.”

She then criticized Nexstar: “ABC’s largest distributor, which needs the FCC’s approval for a $6.2 billion merger, immediately followed his orders and preempted the show, and ABC took it off the air indefinitely. So this was not about comments that a comedian made about Charlie Kirk. This is about a president leveraging the power of the federal government to silence his critics, a plan he’s been open about four months. Now he’s saying that the FCC should go further and cancel the broadcasting licenses of networks that criticize him. Well, are we going to be bullied like that? Are we going to be silenced? Every single one of us has a responsibility to stand up for our constitutional rights that are under attack. And this doesn’t just fall on the shoulders of workers. We need corporations and their executives to start standing up to this coercion.”

Rep. Ted Lieu added that this is not just about Kimmel. “Last year, the Supreme Court ruled a unanimous decision that government officials cannot force third parties to punish or suppress the views that government officials is fake, and my message to ABC is very simple: You do not kneel,” he said. “What happens when you kneel? The bully comes after you again, and now the FCC chair Brendan Carr is threatening ABC because he doesn’t like the statements made by ‘The View.’ When is this going to stop? ABC, you have a choice. You can continue to be bowing or you can stand up for yourself, stand up for the First Amendment and invoke the protection of the First Amendment, an amendment that generations of Americans have given their blood, sweat and tears to defend. We will not kneel. We will continue to be true.”

And to prove his point, Lieu said: “I get to say things like Donald Trump is partly on Epstein files because he is all over the Epstein files.”

Other speakers at the event included Writers Guild of America-West president Meredith Stiehm, in addition to members of SAG-AFTRA, Teamsters, IATSE and other unions.

bitchy | Angelina Jolie: ‘I love my country, but at this time, I don’t recognize my country’

Angelina Jolie was in Italy over the weekend for the San Sebastian Film Festival. She premiered her latest film, Alice Winocour’s Couture, and Angelina will also receive the festival’s Donostia Award, which is sort of a lifetime achievement award. While Angelina’s film festival appearances always make news, this time, Jolie is making news for something she said during the press conference. She was asked about the state of America at this time, especially as an American artist.

Oscar-winning actor Angelina Jolie, who is at Spain’s San Sebastián Film Festival with Alice Winocour’s “Couture,” was asked a timely question at the festival’s press conference: What do you fear as an artist and an American? The actor sighed deeply and took a few moments to answer before saying, “It is a very difficult question.”

“I love my country, but at this time, I don’t recognize my country,” said Jolie. “I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life… My worldview is equal, united, and international. Anything anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms from anyone, I think, is very dangerous. These are such serious times that we have to be careful not to say things casually. These are very, very heavy times we are living in together,” concluded the actor.

It’s important to note that Jolie’s comment on freedom of expression comes just days after Disney’s ABC took Jimmy Kimmel‘s popular late-night show off its schedule “indefinitely.” The decision came after one of the biggest owners of TV stations in the U.S., Nexstar Media, said it intended to preempt airings of the program following remarks the host made about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

[From Variety]

She’s right. I don’t recognize my country either. It’s like sane, normie Americans are the proverbial lobsters in gradually boiling water. One day, we’re just looking around and wondering when everything changed. It changed in 2016, btw. When a minority of American voters got that orange demon in office. Nothing has ever been the same since then. Angelina is lucky in a sense – she has other places to go and the means to take her family out of America. Reportedly, Angelina is waiting until her twins turn 18 and finish high school (next year) to move out of America permanently. Reportedly, she’s looking to move to the UK, but she also has a home in Cambodia and she does a lot of work in Ethiopia and Namibia.

“The closer they look, the less they’ll actually see…” 🎩 Lionsgate has unveiled the second official trailer for Now You See Me: Now You Don’t – originally called Now You See Me 3. This is the third movie in the magician heist series that kicked off with Now You See Me in 2013 and continued with Now You See Me 2 in 2016. It’s opening in theaters nationwide in November this fall – if anyone wnats to watch it? Here’s the only brief synopsis for this sequel: The Four Horsemen return along with a new generation of illusionists performing mind-melding twists, turns, surprises, and magic unlike anything ever captured on film. I hope the tricks are more realistic this time! Now You Don’t stars Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Ariana Greenblatt, with Rosamund Pike, and Morgan Freeman. Director Ruben Fleischer “has delivered all of the twists and turns and sleight-of-hand that audiences expect from this franchise while upping the stakes and scale in every way. We can’t wait for audiences to discover what he’s done.” This is slightly better than the first trailer but it still looks like one gigantic, CGI-filled mess without any actual legitimate magic tricks in it. And the jokes are extra cringe, too.

Here’s the second official trailer for Ruben Fleischer’s Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, via YouTube:

Komal Pandey blasts Kunickaa Sadanand for saying Nehal, Ashnoor don’t have ‘ladkiyon waala nature’ in Bigg Boss 19

Last week, Farah Khan pulled up Kunickaa Sadanand in Bigg Boss 19 Weekend Ka Vaar for questioning Tanya Mittal’s upbringing because she didn’t know how to cook. This week, Kunickaa stirred controversy again by commenting that Nehal Chudasama and Ashnoor Kaur have no “girl-like nature”, prompting fashion content creator Komal Pandey to call her out.

Komal Pandey calls out Kunickaa Sadanand for her personal remarks on Nehal Chudasama and Ashnoor Kaur.

Komal Pandey calls out Kunickaa Sadanand’s sexit remarks against Nehal and Ashnoor

A video from the show has surfaced online showing Amaal and Kunickaa having a chat in the garden. Amaal was heard saying, “Yeh generation ladkiyon ki kya chalak bani hai, kya alag hi paidayish hai (This generation of girls has become so cunning, as if they’re a different breed altogether).”

Kunickaa added, “Ek baat bolun aapko, Nehal ke andar 5% bhi ladkiyon waala nature nahi hai. Halwa jaise hi bana, she was like mujhe de do, arey voh log bhi line main khade hain. I was like what! Same with Ashnoor. While making breakfast, she said, ma’am main jaake breakfast karlun? I said nahi yahan khade raho, sabke liye banao uske baad khao, thoda sabar rakho (Let me tell you something, Nehal doesn’t have even 5% of ‘girl-like nature’. As soon as the halwa was ready, she said give it to me, while others were also standing in line. I was like, what! Same with Ashnoor. While making breakfast, she asked, ma’am can I go and eat? I told her no, stay here, make it for everyone first and then eat, have some patience).”

Komal defended Nehal and sharing the video on Instagram, she wrote: “w** is ‘ladkiyon wala nature’ bruh. Girls, please eat whenever you want to, no need to f***ng wait for literally anyone. Yeh kaun log hain (who are these people). What in the world is this person even babbling in 2025?”

Even viewers were irked by Kunickaa Sadanand’s remarks. One comment read: “Kunickaa is jealous of the young girls over there.” Another wrote: “And she is the so-called feminist.” Another user said: “Hypocritical pseudo-feminist she is.” While one more commented: “Age and experience ke naam pr she goes around harassing young girls in the house. She needs to be called out and ousted from BB (In the name of age and experience, she goes around harassing young girls in the house. She needs to be called out and ousted from Bigg Boss).”

In the last Weekend Ka Vaar hosted by Farah Khan, Kunickaa was criticised for dragging Tanya Mittal’s parents into a fight and questioning her upbringing. Farah told her she was coming across as controlling and bossy. However, it seems her words had little to no impact on Kunickaa.

Bigg Boss 19: Recent Development

Bigg Boss punished the housemates for discussing nominations and initially nominated the entire house. However, he later gave them a chance for redemption by asking every contestant to reveal two names they wanted to save. Eventually, Baseer Ali, Abhishek Bajaj, Ashnoor Kaur, Pranit More, and Nehal Chudasama were nominated for eviction. It now remains to be seen whose journey will come to an end this week.

‘I Don’t Drink, I Don’t Smoke, I Don’t Flatter People To Get Work’, Ameesha Patel Took A Dig At Politics In Bollywood

by jummy84 September 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel is known for speaking her heart out without fear. The actress never hesitates to call out the mistakes of filmmakers and openly shares her views about the Bollywood industry. In a recent interview, she revealed that despite the blockbuster success of her debut film Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, she did not receive the recognition she truly deserved. Ameesha admitted that many people in the industry simply do not like her.

Ameesha Patel

Speaking to one of the media houses, Ameesha said, “For me, the love of the audience is what really matters. It doesn’t matter which camp or group you belong to. I don’t fit into any particular circle. I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, and I don’t flatter anyone to get work. Whatever I’ve achieved is purely on the strength of my talent. Because of this, some people are not fond of me. I don’t run after anyone for favors.”

Ameesha Patel

Calling herself an outsider, the actress explained how tough it is to survive without industry connections. “It becomes even harder when you don’t have a boyfriend or husband from the film fraternity. People often support those who can present themselves as a ‘power couple.’ When you are alone and an outsider, there is very little reason for others to back you,” she said. Ameesha also exposed the reality of social media in Bollywood and claimed that almost 90 percent of celebrities buy followers.

Ameesha Patel

Ameesha said, “Agencies approach stars demanding huge amounts of money and, in return, promise lakhs of followers. Many celebrities have paid for these fake followers. I’ve been approached several times, but I always refused. I value my real fans and don’t want anyone to follow me because of money.” The actress proudly added that her Instagram and Twitter accounts are completely authentic. “I never plan my posts or rely on perfect photoshoots. I upload my pictures as they are—no fancy composition, no calculated captions. I want my audience to see the real me, not a carefully crafted image,” she concluded.

Dermatologist says monsoon clouds don't save you from UV damage, shares tips to choose the right sunscreen

Dermatologist says monsoon clouds don’t save you from UV damage, shares tips to choose the right sunscreen

by jummy84 September 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Do you think if the sun hides behind grey clouds, your skin is safe from sun rays? A senior dermatologists warns that skipping sunscreen during the monsoon can be one of the biggest skincare mistakes you can make. Ultraviolet rays penetrate clouds and even bounce off rain-soaked surfaces, which can silently damaging your skin. These may lead to skincare risks.

Dermatologist says sunscreen should be a part of your monsoon skincare routine.(Freepik)

Dr Rishi Parashar, Senior Consultant Dermatologist, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, tells Health Shots: “One of the often most ignored area of monsoon skin care is optimal sun protection. That is because many people think that the rain and cloud cover during this season saves our skin. But the truth is that the clouds don’t block UV rays, and if we don’t protect ourselves, it may harm our skin in the long run. Even on cloudy days, up to 80 percent of UV radiation is still transmitted to the Earth’s surface.”

According to the expert, UVA rays penetrate deeply, breaking down collagen and elastin. This may contribute to 80-90 percent of visible skin ageing, per dermatological research. UVB rays, on the other hand, affect the surface of the skin. This may cause sunburn and increase skin cancer risk.

“Heat and humidity can also dehydrate the skin, disrupting its moisture barrier and resulting in a dull or flaky appearance. These changes require a tailored approach to protect skin and maintain its health,” adds Dr Parashar.

How to choose sunscreen for monsoon?

Sunscreen is critical for shielding skin from UV damage even in monsoon season. The dermatologist suggests you should go for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) 50 or higher to protect against both UVA and UVB rays.

“Apply approximately one teaspoon to the face and two tablespoons to the body 15-20 minutes before sun exposure, reapplying every two hours or after swimming or sweating. Reapply every two hours because the humidity and moisture in the air can make the sunscreen wear off. Mineral-based sunscreens containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are effective for sensitive skin, as they physically reflect UV rays,” shares Dr Parashar.

Stabilized broad-spectrum protection

Some sunscreens incorporate advanced formulations to enhance UVA protection stability. For example, certain technologies stabilize ingredients like avobenzone, which can degrade under UV exposure, ensuring consistent broad-spectrum coverage. Look for products with proven, stable ingredients to maximize efficacy.

Not all SPF are the same

SPF measures UVB protection, but not all sunscreens offer adequate UVA coverage. Broad-spectrum labelling indicates protection against both ray types, which is essential for comprehensive defense. Higher SPF (50 vs 30, for example), provides slightly better UVB protection but doesn’t inherently ensure UVA efficacy.

When it comes to choosing between mineral sunscreen and chemical sunscreen, here’s how to make the choice. “Mineral sunscreens reflect UV rays. Chemical ones absorb them. So, it is best to choose based on skin needs (mineral for sensitive skin, chemical for oily). Water-resistant options are useful for prolonged outdoor activities, but still require reapplication. Understanding these differences helps in selecting effective products, asserts the expert.

Choose lighter products

In monsoon, go for lightweight gel-based products. Using heavy products may increase oiliness and lead to clogged pores in monsoon.

Gel-based, lightweight non-comedogenic products, such as cleansers and moisturizers, are better suited for monsoon. The expert says gel cleansers with ingredients like salicylic acid help manage oil and prevent breakouts. Gel moisturizers with hyaluronic acid hydrate skin without leaving it greasy.

Additionally, products with added electrolytes will enable better ingredient absorption into the skin. These lightweight options absorb quickly, supporting skin balance for oily, combination, or acne-prone types,” explains the doctor.

AIIMS gastroenterologist warns ‘don’t spend more than 10 minutes on toilet’; shares 8 simple tips for healthy gut

by jummy84 September 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Good gut health is more than just smooth digestion, it influences immunity, mood, energy levels, and overall wellness. With so many lifestyle and dietary factors at play, it’s easy for our digestive system to fall out of balance.

Dr. Saurabh Sethi shares tips for maintaining a balanced digestive system.(Freepik)

Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford Universities, shares in his September 10 Instagram post 7 practical tips to improve gut health and keep your system functioning at its best. (Also read: AIIMS gastroenterologist shares top 10 gut friendly snacks you can have daily: Makhana, sprouted moong chaat, buttermilk )

1. Don’t strain or linger on toilet

Spending more than 10 minutes sitting and pushing can increase the risk of hemorrhoids. About 1 in 20 U.S. adults develops them. If fibre isn’t enough, pelvic floor therapy may help.

2. Know what’s “normal” for you

Healthy bowel habits can range from three times a week to three times a day (Rome IV criteria). The key is comfort, not strict frequency.

3. Go easy on painkillers

Frequent use of NSAIDs like ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin can increase the risk of GI bleeding up to fourfold and damage the gut lining. If you need them often, ask your doctor about safer alternatives.

4. Cut back on sugary drinks and ultra-processed meats

Diets high in processed foods are linked to higher colorectal cancer risk. Switching to a Mediterranean-style diet can lower this risk by about 18%, according to large meta-analyses.

5. Try a bidet

Bidets reduce irritation and are more hygienic than wiping alone, especially helpful for hemorrhoids, fissures, postpartum recovery, or loose stools. Basic attachments start around $50.

6. Eat a bibre-rich, varied diet

The average American consumes roughly 15g of fibre per day, far below the recommended 25–38g. Fibre feeds gut microbes, and once certain species are lost, they may not return.

7. For smelly gas, pepto can help

Bismuth subsalicylate can neutralise over 95% of the sulfide gases that cause odour and also help prevent traveller’s diarrhoea. Use only for short-term relief.

8. Seeds are gut superfoods

Just 1–2 tablespoons of chia, flax, or basil seeds provide soluble fibre and prebiotics that support healthy gut bacteria, reduce bloating, and smooth digestion.

Shilpa Shetty Slammed By Netizens For ‘I Don’t Allow Outsiders For Shoot, It Gives Negativity’ Comment

Bollywood’s well-known director-choreographer, Farah Khan, is currently winning hearts on YouTube with her quirky cooking vlogs, which she shoots alongside her cook, Dilip. In these fun-filled videos, Farah not only whips up mouth-watering dishes but also adds a dash of entertainment by visiting her celebrity friends’ homes or sometimes inviting them over to hers. However, her recent episode featuring actress Shilpa Shetty has stirred quite a buzz online.

Shilpa Shetty And Farah Khan

Let us tell you that Farah visited Shilpa Shetty’s residence as part of the vlog, but what caught viewers’ attention was Shilpa’s repeated remarks about not allowing “outsiders” to shoot inside her house. The actress clarified that she usually refrains from giving permission for shoots at home, but made an exception this time. This did not sit well with many fans, who felt that Shilpa’s constant insistence sounded cold and unwelcoming towards Farah.

Shilpa Shetty

Farah, on the other hand, took it sportingly. She revealed that her own home has practically turned into “Ramoji Studio” due to continuous shoots and content creation. She also added that to maintain some privacy, she never lets anyone upstairs, restricting guests to the lower level. During the vlog, Shilpa explained that she made this rare exception purely out of affection for Farah and to support her husband Raj Kundra’s film promotion.

Shilpa Shetty And Farah Khan

Despite the light-hearted banter, netizens were quick to react. Some criticized Shilpa’s behavior, calling it disrespectful to repeatedly emphasize not letting outsiders in. One comment read, “This is an insult to a guest. If not for film promotion, she would never have allowed it.” Another sarcastically remarked, “She talks about positive energy at home, but if that was true, her husband wouldn’t be involved in such controversies.” While Shilpa’s remarks divided opinions, the vlog managed to do what Farah always intends i.e. spark conversations, serve entertainment, and keep fans hooked with celebrity camaraderie.
