Fitness trainer who lost 20 pounds in 4 months says doing this ‘2 minute trick after dinner’ can help you burn more fat

by jummy84 September 13, 2025

While the way forward from being overweight or obese may seem to be exercise or dieting, the reasoning may be far more complex, ingrained in how your body processes food and, in turn, manages vital hormones like insulin. Weight loss is not all rocket science, as the solution is about embracing smart habits, one of them being walking after meals.

Your body is less likely to store fat if the blood sugar levels are not high,(Shutterstock)

ALSO READ: Weight loss coach suggests 4 strength training exercises for women to target back rolls, flabby arms and belly fat

Christine Stines, who lost 20 pounds (9 kg) in four months, often shares weight loss tips based on her experience. In an August 12 Instagram post, she revealed: “Fat loss becomes so much easier just by doing this two-minute trick after dinner. ”

What goes on when you eat something?

Let’s first zero in on the missing piece of weight management and how it all revolves around how the body handles sugar and insulin. Christine explained the process, “So when you eat, your blood sugar naturally rises and in response your pancreas releases insulin, which is the hormone that carries that out of your blood sugar and tells and tells your body to store this as energy.”

But here’s where the problem lies, as the fitness trainer highlighted that when insulin levels are high, fat burning stops, and if the body keeps producing insulin, due to frequent snacking, high stress, poor sleep, hormonal changes, or inactivity, it can lead to insulin resistance.

But how is the blood sugar management related to fat burning? She added, “Your body needs more insulin to do the same job that keeps you stuck in fat storage mode twenty-four seven, even if you are eating really healthy and clean, and the more fat you have, the more your body craves sugary food, which then makes this even harder.”

How to lose belly fat?

The belly fat is stubborn, more so if it stems from hormonal imbalances, like insulin problems. (Shutterstock)

Belly fat is often the result of blood sugar problems. She revealed that there are two ways to go about dropping belly fat. One is limiting glucose and insulin spikes, and the other is making sure you remain sensitive to insulin, so when it does go up, it comes back down quickly, and you can get right back to burning fat.

Christine cited a study published by the Journal of Sports Medicine from 2022. The findings suggest that just a two to five-minute walk after meals can lower post-meal blood glucose by up to 30 per cent. While standing is also good, the benefits are not extensive.

So why does a brief walk after meals work? Christine revealed, “It works because your muscles act like a sponge, and when they move, they pull glucose out of your bloodstream without needing extra insulin, and if it gets stored in your muscles, it doesn’t get stored in fat cells. So less blood sugar equals less insulin, equals less fat, equals more fat burning.”

But if you think you need to hit a specific step count or hop on a treadmill, the fitness trainer explained that a simple walk works just as well, as it signals the body that it’s active and doesn’t need to store extra fat. So you don’t need to really store fat.

Amanda Seyfried, Emily Blunt, Emma Corrin, and More Stepped Out With Miu Miu for Venice Film Festival’s Most Stylish Dinner

by jummy84 September 1, 2025

There’s no shortage of blowout parties at the Venice Film Festival, during which the film world descends on the city to celebrate premieres from some of the world’s greatest directors. And, perhaps unsurprisingly, there’s no shortage of fashion parties, either. But there are few fashion houses that bridge the gap between those two worlds more naturally than Miu Miu: not only is it a particular favorite for multiple generations of young actresses, it has also, for nearly 15 years now, actively supported new films from women directors via its Miu Miu Women’s Tales program. (The latest chapter in the series, directed by the French filmmaker Alice Diop, premiered at the festival just yesterday.)

So it’s little surprise that Miu Miu’s party on Saturday night was one of the hottest tickets in town. Held at the Fondazione Prada, the event began with a stream of water taxis pulling up to the jetty, followed by guests making their way through the exhibition halls to take in the contemporary art foundation’s latest exhibition, Diagrams. The show, which debuted in May to coincide with the opening week of this year’s Architecture Biennale, seemed perfectly engineered to serve as a conversation starter for the evening ahead: featuring hundreds of rare documents, it explores how diagrams have been used across the centuries for humans to make sense of the world, spanning subjects from war to health, to the environment. (Just the small stuff, then.)

Chatter about the exhibition—and, of course, the various films premiering in Venice this week—could be heard from the third floor of the 18th-century palazzo, where waiters began to circulate with negronis and Champagne, as well as playful canapés of anchovies and butter on toast and miniature cucumber sandwiches served on antique silver platters. The stars arrived in their droves: Amanda Seyfried with Mona Fastvold, the director of her new film The Testament of Ann Lee, in a retro floral halter neck dress. Emma Corrin and Alexa Chung, both wearing the statement bullet bras from the brand’s fall 2025 collection, caught up over plates of freshly sliced mozzarella and ricotta-stuffed courgette flowers. Willem Dafoe and Mrs. Prada were deep in conversation at a table by the window, their companions admiring the 19th-century linen napkins embroidered with the initials of their original owner. The most unexpected sighting, however? Dwayne Johnson, who was in town to promote the new Benny Safdie film The Smashing Machine, and posed for photos alongside his co-star and good friend Emily Blunt. (Is the Rock a Miu Miu girl now?)

The tables were heaving with food everyone could help themselves from—loaded up on Meissen china that belongs to Mrs. Prada herself, which, like the silver platters and napkins, had been ferried over from her home in Milan—and the convivial atmosphere felt a little like being over at the Prada family pad for dinner. You know you’re throwing a good party, after all, when even the actors with premieres the next day are still hanging around at the stroke of midnight.

De Vere raises £100k for charity partners at inaugural Gala Dinner

by jummy84 August 26, 2025

De Vere, a collection of historic mansion house estates and distinctive contemporary hotels and event destinations, has raised over £100,000 for its charity partners at its first Charity Gala Dinner, held in July at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden.

The midsummer-themed balled welcomed 400 guests to the venue’s iconic Grand Hall, where attendees enjoyed sumptuous food, expertly curated wines and memorable entertainment. Funds were raised in support of three charities, the British Heart Foundation, a movement committed to lifesaving research on heart health, Hospitality Action, an organisation dedicated to supporting hospitality workers in need, and the Willow Foundation, a charity that organises bespoke experiences for young adults dealing with life-threatening and life-limiting diseases.

The auction featured a range of exclusive experiences and items available for guests to bid on. The top prize of the night was a sculpture by world-renowned artist Ed Elliott, which was successfully auctioned for £6,000. Ed Elliott has partnered with De Vere to create an exclusive solo exhibition at De Vere Tortworth Court, which is now currently on show at De Vere Beaumont Estate in Old Windsor.

Laurie Nicol and Alan Corlett, Co-CEOs at De Vere, commented: “We are incredibly proud of the success of our inaugural Charity Gala Dinner. Raising over£100,000 for these outstanding charities is a remarkable achievement, and we are so thankful to our guests, team and partners who made the night possible. The evening was more than just a gala, it was a celebration of purpose, generosity, and community, reflecting our shared belief that business should be a force for good for our guests, our people, and our planet.”

Last Dinner Party Boycotts Victorious Citing ‘Political Censorship’

The Last Dinner Party withdrew from their scheduled performance at Victorious Festival on Saturday (Aug. 23) in protest of an incident involving fellow band the Mary Wallopers, whose set was cut short after they showed support for Palestine.

The British indie rock-pop group announced their decision on social media Saturday morning, referencing the previous day’s events in which the Mary Wallopers displayed a Palestinian flag on stage and called for a “Free Palestine.”

“We are outraged by the decision made to silence the Mary Wallopers yesterday at Victorious,” the Last Dinner Party wrote on Instagram. “As a band we cannot cosign political censorship and will therefore be boycotting the festival today.”

They continued, “As Gazans are deliberately plunged into catastrophic famine after two years of escalating violence it is urgent and obvious that artists use their platform to draw attention to the cause. To see an attempt to direct attention away from the genocide in order to maintain an apolitical image is immensely disappointing.”

The Last Dinner Party also encouraged fans to donate to medical aid for Palestinians and closed their message with “Free Palestine.”

On Friday (Aug. 22), members of the Mary Wallopers took the stage at Victorious Festival carrying a Palestinian flag and voiced the message, “Free Palestine and f—k Israel.” Their sound was cut off after a crew member removed the flag, prompting the band to lead a chant of “Free Palestine” and encourage festival-goers to leave.

The incident was documented in a video posted on the Mary Wallopers’ Instagram.

“We are uploading this video so everybody can see @victoriousfestival cut our gig short for having a Palestinian flag on stage,” the Irish band captioned the post. “The festival have released a misleading statement to the press claiming they cut our sound because of a discriminatory chant and not the band’s call to Free Palestine. Our video clearly shows a Victorious crew member coming on stage, interfering with our show, removing the flag from the stage and then the sound being cut following a chant of ‘Free Palestine.’ The same crew member is later heard in the video saying ‘you aren’t playing until the flag is removed.’”

On Saturday, Victorious Festival organizers addressed the incident in a statement on their Facebook page.

“We are in the business of putting on great shows, not cutting them off and this is the last thing we wanted, for the band, their fans and ourselves,” the statement read. “We didn’t handle the explanation of our policy sensitively or far enough in advance to allow a sensible conclusion to be reached. This put the band and our own team in a difficult situation which never should have arisen. We would like to sincerely apologise to all concerned.”

The organizers added, “We absolutely support the right of artists to freely express their views from the stage, within the law and the inclusive nature of the event. Our policy of not allowing flags of any kind, which has been in place for many years for wider event management and safety reasons, is not meant to compromise that right.”

The statement concluded, “We accept that, although mics remained live for longer, sound for The Mary Wallopwers’ audience was cut as described in the band’s video and that comments after that were not audible to the public. We are sorry that this situation has come about and will be making a substantial donation to humanitarian relief efforts for the Palestinian people.”

Several other acts, including The Academic and Cliffords, have also announced they will be boycotting this year’s Victorious Festival.

The 2025 edition of Victorious launched on Friday and runs through Sunday (Aug. 24), with headliners including Queens of the Stone Age, Vampire Weekend and Kings of Leon.

Last Dinner Party Boycott Victorious Fest Over ‘Political Censorship’

by jummy84 August 24, 2025

The Last Dinner Party have pulled out of their set at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth, England today (Aug. 23), in solidarity with the Mary Wallopers, whose set was cut short on Friday after the Irish band showed their support for Palestine.

“We are outraged by the decision made to silence the Mary Wallopers yesterday at Victorious,” The Last Dinner Party posted in a statement on Instagram. “As a band we cannot cosign political censorship and will therefore be boycotting the festival today.”

On Friday, the Mary Wallopers were performing onstage and after they unfurled a Palestinian flag and called for a “Free Palestine,” their show was cut short. The band posted video from the incident on Instagram, where they appeared to enter the stage with a Palestinian flag and opened with a remark to “Free Palestine.” After they began performing, a Victorious crew member looked to confront the band about the flag, which was draped onstage, and then the crew member removed it.

“Free, free Palestine,” the band said from the stage, many in the audience could be heard joining in per the video. Immediately afterward, the band’s sound was cut and the crowd responded with boos. The band then brought the flag back out which elicited cheers, and more chants from the audience and band to “free Palestine.”

A rep for Victorious Festival did not immediately return Rolling Stone’s request for comment. A festival spokesperson told the BBC the show was ended after the band used “a chant which is widely understood to have a discriminatory context,” but did not provide specifics. In the Mary Wallopers’ video post, they rejected the festival’s claim and asked that the fest “retract their statement immediately.”

“The festival have released a misleading statement to the press claiming they cut our sound because of a discriminatory chant and not the band’s call to Free Palestine,” the band wrote. “Our video clearly shows a Victorious crew member coming on stage, interfering with our show, removing the flag from the stage and then the sound being cut following a chant of ‘Free Palestine.’ The same crew member is later heard in the video saying, ‘you aren’t playing until the flag is removed.’”

Throughout this year’s festival season, artists have been showing their support for Palestinians onstage. At Newport Folk Festival, the Resistance Revival Chorus sang a prayer for Gaza and actor-comedian John C. Reilly waved a Palestinian flag from the main stage. At Coachella earlier this year, Kneecap’s pro-Palestine messaging was cut from the festival’s livestream on the first weekend and sparked controversy on the second weekend. Kneecap member Mo Chara faces terror charges in the U.K. over a claim he allegedly displayed a Hezbollah flag onstage during a London concert in November 2024. Mo Chara and the band have repeatedly denied the allegations, stating previously that they “do not, and have never, supported Hamas or Hezbollah.”

The Last Dinner Party lead boycott of Victorious as The Mary Wallopers hit back and festival respond

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

The Last Dinner Party are among a group of artists to have boycotted Victorious Festival after The Mary Wallopers’ set was cut short for displaying a Palestinian flag.

On Friday (August 22), the Irish band were halfway through their opening song at the Portsmouth festival when their sound was cut by festival organisers and the Palestine flag on stage with them was taken away. As the crowd started to boo, the band led a chant of “free, free Palestine”.

The Mary Wallopers updated fans on Saturday with an Instagram post reading: “Yesterday, a famine was declared in Gaza, where at least 65 people were killed by Israeli attacks, all the while Israel pushed ahead with plans to split the West Bank in two. These are the important facts about yesterday.”

Alongside an unedited video of their set being cut short, they added: “The festival have released a misleading statement to the press claiming they cut our sound because of a discriminatory chant and not the band’s call to Free Palestine. Our video clearly shows a Victorious crew member coming on stage, interfering with our show, removing the flag from the stage and then the sound being cut following a chant of ‘Free Palestine’. The same crew member is later heard in the video saying, ‘you aren’t playing until the flag is removed’.”

“We completely reject Victorious’ portrayal of today’s events and request that they retract their statement immediately. We know this is getting some attention and we don’t want another distraction which takes attention away from the genocide that is happening in Palestine,” they added.

Now, a number of other artists have announced they will not be playing at Victorious this weekend, including The Last Dinner Party, The Academic and Cliffords.

“We are outraged by the decision made to silence The Mary Wallopers yesterday at Victorious,” The Last Dinner Party wrote in a statement. “As a band we cannot cosign political censorship and will therefore be boycotting the festival today.”

“As Gazans are deliberately plunged into catastrophic famine after two years of escalating violence, it is urgent and obvious that artists use their platform to draw attention to the cause. To see an attempt to direct attention away from the genocide in order to maintain an apolitical image is immensely disappointing.”

“Throughout this summer we have used our stages to encourage our audience to donate even a drink’s worth of money to Medical Aid for Palestinians, and today we urge you more than ever to do the same,” they continued.

“We are so deeply sorry to our fans who were looking forward to seeing us today, and we are devastated to be put in this position that upsets both us and you.”

The Mary Wallopers’ fellow Irish artists The Academic and Cliffords have also pulled out of the festival. The Academic said they “can’t in good conscience stand up and play at a festival that silences free speech and the right to express your views”, while Cliffords said, “we refuse to play if we are to be censored for showing our support to the people of Palestine”.

On Friday, Victorious told NME that “although a flag was displayed on stage contrary to our policy, and this was raised with the artist’s crew, the show was not ended at this point, and it was the artist’s decision to stop the song. The decision by the event management to cut the sound and end the performance was only taken after the band used a chant which is widely understood to have a discriminatory context.”

The festival has since posted a statement that said they “didn’t handle the explanation of our policies sensitively or far enough in advance to allow a sensible conclusion to be reached. This put the band and our own team in a difficult situation which never should have arisen. We would like to sincerely apologise to all concerned.”

Victorious is one of many festivals to be operated by Superstruct Entertainment, which is owned by the controversial global investment firm KKR, which has been criticised by many artists for its alleged stakes in weapons manufacturing companies and Israel corporations operating in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Several other festivals that are backed by KKR have addressed their concerns about the connection. Tramlines said they would “never send them a single Euro”, while Mighty Hoopla stated their “clear opposition to KKR’s unethical investments”.

One group of 50 artists, which included Massive Attack and Brian Eno, signed an open letter urging Field Day to distance itself from KKR in May, while another 11 artists announced that they were boycotting the festival in solidarity with Palestine.

Victorious Festival is running on the Southsea seafront this weekend, with Kings Of Leon, Queens Of The Stone Age and Vampire Weekend topping the bill.
