Emmerdale’s Sally Dexter on “very special” return as dead Faith Dingle

by jummy84 November 13, 2025

**Warning: This article contains spoilers for tonight’s (12th November) Emmerdale episode.**

Sally Dexter has reprised her Faith Dingle role in Emmerdale – despite the character being killed off following a terminal breast cancer diagnosis over three years ago.

It was something that both viewers and Dexter didn’t see coming, though a special standalone episode exploring recent returnee Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) time off screen was able to facilitate it.

“They’ve thrown me in prison with Robert,” Dexter explained.

“It’s a flashback episode and it’s delightful to be back doing it. Well first of all I thought, ‘How are they going to get me back?’

“I’m dead! I’ve been dead I think it’s about two years, yeah, so I had no idea what was coming.”

Faith appeared in flashback scenes.

In the instalment that aired tonight on ITV, viewers saw Faith visit Robert in prison, urging him to follow his heart and start an appeal process against his murder charge so that he could reunite with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

Of course, as we know, Robert was only successful earlier in the year, and had to tell a major fib to prison hubby Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) about why he was getting early release.

Thinking on his feet, he told Kev that sister Vic (Isabel Hodgin) had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and he needed to get home to support her. At the end of today’s episode, a bemused facial expression from Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) confirmed to Kev that his beloved Suggers had been lying.

But as for Faith, is this the last we’ve seen of her?

“It’s been really enjoyable,” she explains.

“It’s lovely coming back. It’s a bit like… I don’t know, coming back to a school that you went to, like you go back to your old school or an old house that you used to live in. It feels very, very homely.

“They’re just such a lovely bunch of people here, all of them, crew and cast included.

“I have been practising my Australian accent, in case they decide that a cousin suddenly appears called Hope. And I’d put in for a blonde wig if they did.”

She also took time to reflect on her 2023 exit, and Faith’s dying days that struck a chord with fans.

“People really seem to plug into it. And I don’t blame them. It was beautifully written, and I thought Jeff [Hordley] was particularly spectacular… as he always is.

Cain and Faith Dingle look serious in Emmerdale

Sally heaped praise on her former co-star Jeff Hordley. ITV

“Damn him! No, he’s wonderful.”

The actress, who has also appeared in Poldark, Holby City and early ’00s soap Night and Day, went on to explain that her Faith role has a very personal connection.

“I’ve always said my mum was very much the person that I based her on, and unfortunately she died last year, so actually, coming back and doing her again is lovely.

“Such a joyous thing to do and I’m very grateful.

“If you haven’t seen tonight’s episode, please go and watch it. It’s very special, and to play Faith again is very, very special to me.”

While many know Diane Keaton as the iconic actress who took over Hollywood with such films as Annie Hall, Something’s Gotta Give and the Godfather franchise, some fans are surprised to discover she never married and became a mother in her 50s by adopting a daughter and son. “Motherhood has completely changed me,” Diane once told Film Monthly. “It’s just about the most completely humbling experience that I’ve ever had.”

Even after winning an Academy Award, two Golden Globes and AFI Life Achievement Award, the First Wives Club star said she always knew there was more to life than acting and so she wanted to try her hand at parenting. “It was more like a thought I’d been thinking for a very long time,” she told Access Online in 2008. “So I plunged in.”

Unfortunately, Diane died on October 11, 2025, at the age of 79.

Keep reading to find out all about her two amazing children, Dexter and Duke, below.

In 1996, Diane adopted Dexter, who was born a year earlier. The young beauty didn’t follow in her mother’s Tinseltown footsteps, although she has accompanied Diane on many a red carpet. And the University of Arizona alum certainly gushes about her incredible mom, as she shared a snap of the pair on Mother’s Day 2014 with the caption, “I’m so thankful to have been adopted by such a strong, beautiful, and talented woman. I couldn’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me. I love you!”

Dexter also couldn’t wait to share the exciting news of her engagement via Instagram back in November 2020. With a snap of her then-boyfriend Jordan White proposing on one knee, Dexter wrote, “This morning started with hail and ended with a diamond! I can’t believe I’m engaged! I love you, Jordan!”

The couple went on to get married in June 2021 and photos of the beautiful nuptials were posted all over Dexter’s social media. In one adorable snap, the bride and groom pose with Diane and Duke, as Dexter captioned it, “Family.” A source told Closer Weekly that the wedding was “perfect.” “It was Dexie’s day and she was a beautiful bride,” the insider added. “Diane cried, of course … she just can’t believe how time flies by.”

Duke Keaton

Dexter’s little brother Duke was welcomed to the family in 2001. Much like his sister, Duke appears to keep a low profile and is quite the private person. Although he has not yet taken to his mother’s interest in acting, he has rubbed elbows with the glitterati, as he posted a super cute snap with Rita Ora and Cara Delevingne to his Instagram. He also appears to enjoy cooking, as he has shared numerous chef tutorials on social media, including one where he and a friend prepare steak and eggs for breakfast.

Another hobby of his appears to be photography, as he runs a separate Instagram account where he publishes his gorgeous photos. The collection includes tropical landscapes, gritty cityscapes and snaps of his international travels. He has quite the eye! Diane must be tickled pink, as she herself is an accomplished photographer, having published several books of her work. In a 2008 interview with Vanity Fair, Diane said her mother influenced her to pick up a camera. “She encouraged me to save pictures. ‘Don’t forget,’ she’d say. Photographs have such an impact—more than words. They are so visceral and intense.’”

Angel Batista Dies and Dexter Trapped

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

[The following post contains MAJOR spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection Episode 9, “Touched By an Angel.”]

Pour one out for Angel Batista (David Zayas). In Dexter: Resurrection‘s newest episode, Miami Metro’s very finest finally found a captive audience for his theories on Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), but unfortunately for him, it was the worst one possible.

The episode began where the last one left off, with Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage) dropping in on Dexter’s dinner with Harrison (Jack Alcott). Though Dexter quickly asked Leon to step outside to talk to him, the billionaire genius still got a few key details out of Dexter’s son before doing so. Outside, Prater promised to leave Harrison alone in exchange for Dexter giving him a truthful one-on-one about every detail of his life — all while Batista was looking on from a distance and snapping photos of them together.

After that, Dexter and Harrison exited through the back of the building in a panic, and Dexter was forced to tell Harrison the full truth about Prater’s serial killer club meetings and how he took out select members of it. Instead of being horrified, Harrison was almost impressed that he could count the Gemini Killer(s) as victims.

Harrison then went to work while Dexter made amends with Blessing (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine) and arranged for him to pick Harrison up from work at the end of the day. However, it wasn’t safe for Harrison at the hotel; instead, Charley (Uma Thurman) showed up there and asked him a slew of questions about his past. Harrison answered them in an honest yet guarded enough way to protect his father and then immediately reported it all back to him, prompting Dexter to pay Charley’s own place a little visit. There, he found that she had an infirm mother and a background as a decorated military veteran.

Dexter then used his Dark Passenger gear to get a word in with Charley in her car, wherein she explained that it was Prater’s call for her to investigate Harrison and that he used her mother’s illness as a way to control her. By the time Dexter let her go, he felt confident that she wouldn’t be a problem for him and Harrison anymore, but that was decidedly not the case.

Charley reported her visit with “Red” directly back to Prater, and he was enthralled by the sight of her neck wound from his instrument. “He was sending me a message. You were the message,” he said. “The real message is I’m still in charge, the Dark Passenger is mine, and more importantly, he wants to continue to play with us.” Dexter then called to arrange a meeting, alone, and Prater agreed to see him before his big gala.

At the same time, Angel was busy trying to convince Detectives Claudette Wallace (Kadia Saraf) and Melvin Oliva (Dominic Fumusa) of his story, again, but they were not convinced. They asked for his badge, at the request of Miami Metro no less, and sent him on his way once again. On the way out, though, Angel saw an ad for the gala with Prater’s picture on it and recognized it from the exchange he witnessed outside before.

Angel then headed to Prater’s place and, after a tussle with some of his lower security guards, got the attention of Charley. From there, he was taken to Prater’s office to explain, and unlike the detectives before, this time, they believed him.

So when Dexter arrived for his appointment with Prater, it was clear he was walking into a trap. It wasn’t a cavalry of police that awaited him, however. Instead, Prater was joined by Charley, who disarmed Dexter and took away his phone before ushering him into the vault, where Angel was tied up and gagged. Prater then revelled in knowing he was talking to the Bay Harbor Butcher and offered him a deal: Prater’s killer club could continue, but in a different way, with him summoning mass murderers from across the land to come to his lair, after which Dexter could do what he wanted with all of them. The “price of admission,” as he put it, was to take out Angel right then and there.

The offer had to be attractive to Dexter, as he noted, “Angel Batista has threatened my life, my son’s life. Now that he’s confirmed who I am beyond the shadow of a doubt, he will never give up, and rule number one is, ‘Don’t get caught.’” However, Dexter used his knife to free Angel, who then began to choke him out right then and there, and Dexter was momentarily resigned to the poetry of dying at the hands of a lifelong friend. The attack was interrupted when Leon shot Angel in the back and ran away with Charley, effectively locking Dexter in the vault without hope of exit. He rushed over to help Angel, but there was no chance of saving him.

Dexter tried to tell Angel that he didn’t kill James Doakes (Erik King) or Maria LaGuerta (Lauren Vélez), but Angel gave him no absolution on the matter. “It’s your fault,” he said. “And now I’m dying because you, just like they did.” After Dexter apologized sincerely, Batista used his final breath to say simply, “Dexter Morgan, f**k you.”

With that, another long chapter in the saga of Dexter Morgan has closed. Angel finally knew the whole truth about Dexter, and it cost him his life. It seems unlikely that his disappearance will raise any red flags right away, since the NY detectives told him to get lost, and even his colleagues in Miami don’t seem too concerned with him right now.

Dexter is still far from in the clear, though. Now, he’s trapped in the vault and in full enmity mode with Leon Prater. We’ll have to wait and see whether he can use that “gee-whiz smile,” as Angel put it, to get himself out of trouble again in next week’s finale.

Dexter Almost Gets Caught Red-Handed

by jummy84 August 22, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The following post contains MAJOR spoilers for Dexter: Resurrection Episode 8, “The Kill Room Where It Happens.”]

Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) got rather sloppy on the latest episode of Dexter: Resurrection, and it could cost him everything. After failing to clock the fact that Angel Batista (David Zayas) would and did plant a tracking device in his car — a pair of earpods that he used to keep tabs on Dexter’s usual driving routine — he almost got caught with a man on his table and then did get caught at a very different kind of table.

The episode began with Angel making a recording of himself on the case, following Dexter’s every move just as he, as “Red,” made a plan with Al (Eric Stonestreet) to meet up after he caught a showing of Hamilton. After Dexter decided on a temporarily closed beauty salon to become his next kill room, Angel took note of the location since it was out of the norm for him and started snooping around the block.

Things went sideways when Al decided Hamilton wasn’t his bag, and he headed back to Wisconsin with his new #1 Dad license plate and I Heart NY souvenirs, thus leaving Dexter’s mission incomplete and his kill room unvarnished. It didn’t take Dexter long to find a new occupant for the space, though.

Vince (Steve Schirripa), the landlord of Harrison’s (Jack Alcott) friend Elsa (Emilia Suárez), was still giving her the runaround about the mold that was making her son sick. After Dexter tried to reason with the guy, to no avail, he decided to snatch him and give him a wakeup call on the table. That effort was interrupted, however, by Angel, and although Dexter escaped, his setup was left for Angel and Detectives Claudette Wallace (Kadia Saraf) and Melvin Oliva (Dominic Fumusa) to sniff around in.

The trouble for Angel was that he didn’t see Dexter, and Vince ran off before he could describe his captor, who’d been masked anyway. As Angel described his theory, the detectives became skeptical of Angel’s story, and when Claudette called Joey Quinn (Desmond Harrington), she learned that Batista was no longer an active law enforcement officer. So even though Angel was exactly, 1000% right about everything he said, the others didn’t seem to believe him.

Despite Angel’s setbacks, Dexter still had other problems to grapple with. First, he accidentally betrayed Blessing (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine) by revealing his backstory about being a child soldier to his daughter, leaving their relationship in the mud, possibly forever. Secondly, and more importantly, he got a visit from Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage) right in the middle of a celebratory dinner with Harrison.

Prater, who was otherwise busy planning a gala for injured police — that both detectives may be going to, by the way — fielded pressure from Charley (Uma Thurman) about her suspicions of “Red.” Though he resisted them at first, she must have persisted because he somehow ended up crashing Dexter’s meal with a smile and saying, “Red, I didn’t know you have a son.”

We’ll have to wait to see what Leon’s arrival means for Dexter, whether the detectives will buy into Angel’s story at last, if Blessing will retaliate in some way, and if Al is gone for good, but for now, it seems like Dexter’s got his work cut out for him to keep his feet on solid ground.
