The Production Department (TPD), known across the live events industry for its embedded production management expertise, is proud to officially launch its newest venture: The Training Department.

Purpose-built to train and upskill the next generation of Production Managers, The Training Department offers hands-on, practical education rooted in real-world experience. Developed by the team behind TPD and shaped in collaboration with top industry experts and suppliers, the programme is designed for:

  • New talent looking to break into the world of production
  • Career-switchers pivoting into live event delivery
  • Agencies that want to upskill and empower their teams to be more confident with event production

Founder Joe Chilvers commented:

“We are here to set, maintain and consistently innovate the standard for  production management and event delivery across the live events industry.”

The launch of The Training Department is supported by TPD’s ongoing commitment to talent development, including active partnerships with Production Futures, Elevate Mentoring, and the Production Services Association (PSA). These collaborations reinforce the venture’s mission to not only upskill individuals but to strengthen the events industry as a whole.

Training courses will focus on the technical, operational, and interpersonal skills needed to thrive in fast-paced environments – from site planning and crew communication to problem-solving and delivery under pressure.

To kick things off, Joe Chilvers will be delivering the first two taster sessions live at Production Futures in Wakefield on the 27th November. The sessions will introduce key principles of corporate event production management – offering a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the most experienced voices in the industry.

Limited seats are available, and the sessions are completely free to attend.

United States Department of Homeland Security Responds to Anti-ICE Lyrics in Zach Bryan Song Snippet

On Friday, October 3, Zach Bryan posted a snippet of an unreleased song on his Instagram with the caption “the fading of the red white and blue.” “I heard the cops came/Cocky motherfuckers, ain’t they?”, Bryan sings on the track, which according to Stereogum is titled “Bad News.” “And ICE is gonna come bust down your door/Try to build a house that no one builds no more/But I got a telephone/Kids are scared and all alone.”

Now Bryan’s lyrics have drawn the ire of the federal government—a phenomenon that is becoming increasingly common. Earlier today (October 7), Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary of public affairs for the United States Department of Homeland Security, told TMZ that Bryan should “stick to ‘Pink Skies,’” referencing a song from his 2024 album The Great American Bar Scene. Pitchfork has reached out to representatives for Bryan for comment.

Under the second Trump administration, the United States Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency has been conducting raids and mass deportations in cities across the U.S. Following the news that Bad Bunny, who is Puerto Rican, would perform the halftime show at Super Bowl LX next year, DHS adviser and President Donald J. Trump’s 2024 campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said that ICE agents would be present at the event.

Revisit Alphonse Pierre’s Off the Dome column “How ICE Raids Have Impacted Texas Rapper HOODLUM’s Hometown,” and read about Zach Bryan’s “Pink Skies” at No. 79 on “The 100 Best Songs of 2024.”

The Customs Department is conducting raids across Kerala as part of Operation Numkhor, aimed at uncovering a gang involved in smuggling luxury vehicles left behind by the Bhutanese army. The operation has led to the seizure of 11 vehicles from seven locations in Kozhikode and Mallapuram, including a Land Cruiser, Land Rover, Tata SUV, and Mahindra Tata truck. The raids have drawn attention due to the involvement of Malayalam actors Prithviraj and Dulquer Salmaan.

According to some of the media reports, Dulquer Salmaan’s car has been seized, and Prithviraj’s vehicles are being examined after the detailed examination and inspection of their homes. Apart from this, the actors have also been asked to disclose any other vehicles they own and bring them to the authorities so that the authorities can verify them.

Let us tell you that the Customs Department alleges that smugglers are registering luxury vehicles in Himachal Pradesh using fake documents and then shipping them to Kerala. Approximately 15 cases of expensive vehicles being brought in from Bhutan without paying taxes have been reported in the state and that is the reason why detailed examination of vehicles is underway in Kerala.

If we talk this investigation, then let us tell you that the Customs Department will collect documents and evidence recovered during the raid and take legal action against all those who will be found responsible for this theft and forgery. This investigation is being called Operation Numkhor and is still ongoing, and officials are working to uncover the entire smuggling network which is running the state and getting fraud vehicles registered in the state without proper documentation and bringing them from other states of the country.
