Malaika Arora, the Bollywood actress and dancer known for her iconic item numbers, is once again at the center of controversy after the teaser for her upcoming appearance in rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh’s song Chillgum was released on November 7th. The teaser quickly went viral, but it also drew a wave of criticism from fans who are calling her dance moves vulgar. Chillgum is part of Yo Yo Honey Singh’s highly anticipated album 51 Glorious Days, and the teaser offers a glimpse of what to expect from the full music video.

In the teaser, Malaika Arora can be seen wearing a vibrant, colorful outfit, performing energetic dance moves alongside Honey Singh under neon lights. The duo’s chemistry is evident, and the scene seems to be packed with high-energy choreography meant to capture the audience’s attention. However, despite the electrifying visuals, the reaction from fans has been overwhelmingly negative. Fans on social media were quick to criticize the choreography and Malaika’s performance, accusing the actress of appearing vulgar in the music video.

Some users even questioned why Malaika, who is known for her graceful dance moves in popular Bollywood numbers like Munni Badnam Hui and Anarkali Disco Chali, was adopting such an unconventional style. The controversy intensified when a behind-the-scenes (BTS) photo from the Chilgam music video surfaced on social media. In the photo, Malaika is seen in an intimate pose with Honey Singh, with her tongue out while dancing closely to the rapper.

Though the pose was clearly meant to be playful and lighthearted, it quickly became the focal point of online criticism. Fans took to social media to express their shock, accusing the actress of performing dance moves that were too explicit and out of character. One user wrote, “Why is Malaika trying to impersonate Nicki Minaj?” referring to the provocative style often associated with international artists like Nicki Minaj. Another comment read, “What are these antics Malaika is doing?” while others took aim at the actress’s appearance and style, with one user stating, “She’s become a stripper now.”

Strictly star left “shaking” as dance of the night upends leaderboard

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Vicky Pattison and professional partner Kai Widdrington have earned their highest score to date on Strictly Come Dancing 2025, with a blockbuster Tango blowing everything out of the water tonight.

The television personality performed the dance to The Fate of Ophelia by pop superstar Taylor Swift, with Kai telling Claudia Winkleman after the performance that she was perfectly suited to the task.

“I didn’t want to tell Vicky this in the week, because I wanted to wait for this moment,” he began. “The thing is about Vicky is that she didn’t need to get into character for this dance because she is everything that this dance is about.

“Strong, independent, confident, willing, able and, to be honest, Anton was right: to dance that with Vicky felt like dancing with a professional – it was that good.”

Indeed, Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke said he was “stunned” by just how good the dance was, while infamously strict Craig Revel Horwood said it was “perfect” besides a minor complaint about the placement of Vicky’s left hand.

Motsi Mabuse stood by last week’s comment that Pattison is a potential finalist, adding: “Without a doubt, you are on fire. Whatever is giving you that fire, keep it up – this was, for me, the dance of the night.”

Shirley Ballas concurred that it was the “best” of tonight’s episode, describing Pattison and Widdrington’s work as nothing short of “remarkable”.

As their glowing praise came in, Strictly presenter Tess Daly commented that Pattison was “shaking”, and the reality star’s response only became more ecstatic in the Clauditorium.

Vicky Pattison. BBC / Ray Burmiston

The four experts certainly put their scoring paddles where their mouth was, awarding the couple three 10s and a 9 (holdout Craig, of course), for a near-perfect score that became the highest of this week’s leaderboard.

Pattison and Widdrington narrowly pipped Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin (38), and pushed well ahead of last week’s top scorers Lewis Cope and Katya Jones (35).

It puts the couple in a strong position for this week’s public vote, which will lead to yet another dance off and elimination – the results of which will be revealed tomorrow night.

Strictly Come Dancing results show airs Sunday at 7:10pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One and iPlayer.

Take a Dose of Winterpills and See ‘How We Dance’ » PopMatters

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Little did I know after first getting introduced to Signature Sounds through a budding artist’s debut record in 2013, that the woman serving as publicist for the label was also a talented member of a riveting indie rock band seemingly content to keep its fan base close to home in New England. Winterpills, it’s great to hear from you again.

The Fantastic 5 based in Northampton, Massachusetts, where their small but sturdy label is located, are active again after a nine-year “hiatus” basically due to family commitments, other musical opportunities, and COVID-19. They’re back in a big way, too, with the wondrous This Is How We Dance, which will be released on 14 November by — no surprise — Signature Sounds. It’s their first full-length LP since 2016’s Love Songs.

To promote their eighth album spread over a career dating to 2003, Winterpills present an exclusive music video premiere of the seductive single “How We Dance” at PopMatters today (7 November). Philip Price, the band’s primary songwriter who also shares vocal and acoustic guitar duties with his wife Flora Reed (the aforementioned publicist), created the winsome video.

Calling himself “a packrat of found images, photos, and footage” during our email interview accompanying the premiere, Price provides some insight on the video, the album, and the state of the band. It also includes longtime members Dennis Crommett (electric guitars), Max Germer (bass guitars), and Dave Hower (drums, percussion).

Check out this exclusive presentation of the official music video for “How We Dance” now, then read on to learn more about a thoroughly engaging, elegant, entertaining — and apparently egoless — group of players who hopefully won’t wait another nine years to deliver their next album.

Rebirth of a Band

Seamlessly blending vintage photographs, stock footage, and brief bits of animation along with current video of perky party people and dutiful dancers (try to spot the Winterpills cameos), Price “shot around this huge gothic abandoned building down the street (from their house in Hadley, about 3 1/2 miles northeast of Northampton). … I’ve had a recurring narrative in my head for years of a huge party going on inside a building that I cannot get into — a dream of exclusion.

“This combined with the idea of all of humanity forgetting how to dance together, being splintered, and disconnected and too injured to dance. My mother was a dancer and I have to assume this factored in as well.”

For anyone wondering, the lone end credit in capital letters — “Video by WOODYBROOK LANE JR.” — is Price’s pseudonym, named after the street where he grew up in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.

Since his father was a screenwriter, Price shares, “My first ambition in life was to make films … a path I obviously didn’t fully take, but I keep that dream alive by making lots of little films and music videos. I’m feeling more ambitious about that outlet recently.”

Along with helping bring back Winterpills, Price also is a dad, celebrating with Reed the birth of their son in 2019. The new album signals a rebirth of the band, too.

“The band knew there would be a hiatus for this kiddo to happen; it just was extended far beyond our desires,” Price states. While “writing always drags on forever,” he maintains this time it “combined with parenting exhaustion, eldercare exhaustion, world-care exhaustion. But in picking from the pile, I just sent around a mess of songs to the band, and we all picked what we liked. We are democratic to a fault. My son weighed in, too.”

Getting back into the studio and producing with trusted colleague Dave Chalfant (“a member of the extended family” who worked on Winterpills’ first two albums), “It took a concerted push by everyone; but once the wheel started rolling downhill, there was no stopping it,” Price offers. “We basically just decided there were plenty of songs and we started doing weekly rehearsals at several different spaces, before finally settling on Max’s living room as the most conducive and cozy.”

Recorded at the Institute for the Musical Arts in Goshen, Massachusetts, This Is How We Dance has 12 songs that will enrapt the listening audience, propelled by thought-provoking lyrics, sweet harmonies, irresistible melodies, Crommett’s pulsating electric riffs, and the rhythmic bursts of Germer and Hower.

It only took one pop-up show at Darlings in Easthampton (what Price calls “a beloved local tiny bar”) to get the seal of approval from a small crowd of lucky folks. Winterpills performed the entire album “just to see if anyone noticed. They did,” he adds.

While Price and Reed added to their family (she’s a stepmom to “Philip’s two amazing adult daughters”) during the extended break, he managed “to squeak out three solo albums during that time, so it wasn’t totally a vacuum.” Their bandmates kept busy, too.

Juggling solo projects and working with artists like Mark Mulcahy, Crommett is a master guitar blaster who mans another Western Mass band called Spanish For Hitchhiking with Germer, Hower, and Chalfant. (The latter two were also members of the Nields.) Germer has side gigs with the Fawns and Gentle Hen while Hower has recorded with Valley of Weights, his college band.

Making a pitch

While pouring themselves into parenting, Reed continues her efficient work at Signature Sounds, where Price has a part-time job as graphic designer and webmaster. The two met after she moved to the area in 1997, with Reed saying the relationship started “more as an acquaintance and fan of his power-pop band the Maggies,” which also included Germer.

Born in Japan but raised in Virginia, Reed joined Winterpills in 2004. Her group status “quickly changed” from single musician as she and Price evolved into married couple in 2008.

In 2013, Reed first turned me on to Heather Maloney, who soon became one of my fave folk singer-songwriters after profiling her in an article that year for The Huffington Post. While pitching a robust list of artists at her label, including Chris Smither, Eilen Jewell, Lake Street Dive’s Bridget Kearney and the Sweetback Sisters, Reed never mentioned Winterpills. Until 2014.

She sent me a copy of Echolalia, the band’s cool covers album that included several transformations of eclectic selections from a wide range of artists like the Beatles (“Cry Baby Cry”), XTC (“Train Running Low on Soul Coal”) and Sharon Van Etten (“One Day”, with Reed supplying lead vocals). Recognizing her name in the credits, the light bulb above my head finally shined. Tweeting congrats and complimenting her via email on the “lovely album” that October, I added about her participation, “Pardon my stupidity, but I had no idea …”

That was smack-dab in the middle of Winterpills’ career path, 11 years after the group formed and 11 years before delivering a promising resurgence.

Reasons to celebrate

Surviving with little fuss or fanfare, Winterpills quietly go about their business. After previously releasing the Crommett-created lyric video for “Lean in the Wind,” the new parents’ co-write with a soothing group vocal, Price has “several more in the pipeline, some homemade and some by other filmmakers” to build the momentum following “How We Dance”.

“Plus: touring,” pledges Price, “which is somewhat limited due to parenting, but we like to tour smart, not hard.” This year, Winterpills are also just a few days from celebrating the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut album.

Released on 8 November 2005, it now has a remastered edition (available at bandcamp.com and other digital streaming platforms) that includes two new bonus cuts, “Everybody Gets High” and “Looking Down (Flora’s version)”.

Managing to keep a marriage together for 17 years is a challenge in itself for two accomplished musicians but getting five core members to coexist (on and off) for 23 years is nothing short of a miracle. Reed, residing in Hadley with Price, their son, and a few kittens and chickens, points out they all live within an eight-mile radius of Northampton: Crommett in Williamsburg, Germer in Florence, and Hower in Easthampton. They’re a shining example of the band that plays together, stays together.

Disbanding Winterpills “has never been on the table,” Price declares. “We’re a big open marriage of a band. Why break up? There’s no bad blood. We love each other and take care of each other. We’re boring in that way. When we play, it coalesces naturally and feels (cheesily) like it was meant to be. There’s no money to fight over. We’ll let you know if that changes.”

Asked for a moment he remembers that best encapsulates Winterpills’ existence, Price goes back to when it all started. “Maybe it was early on when we were learning all the songs for the first album and Flora got very pissed at me for writing a good song,” he recalls. “I knew we’d all be all right after that.”

Now that they have more of their own good songs to write and projects to pitch, Winterpills can continue to demonstrate how they dance.

Julio Cesar Soto Renteria is Bringing Reggaeton to the LA Dance Scene – Hollywood Life

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Image Credit: Julio Cesar Soto Renteria

Julio Cesar Soto Renteria, a dancer and choreographer from Mexico City, is working to expand reggaeton’s presence in LA’s professional dance community. He has established himself in the city’s dance scene through his efforts to integrate this style into professional studios and his commitment to sharing his culture while blending Latin rhythms with commercial dance.

Culture and Choreography

Reggaeton first emerged in Puerto Rico during the late 1990s and is characterized by a mix of Jamaican dancehall beats with a Latin American twist, plus a dash of hip hop and electronic music. Its catchy tunes and distinctive rhythms have made it popular worldwide.

While reggaeton has gained global recognition, it has remained underrepresented in LA’s professional dance studios compared to other dance styles. Julio Cesar recognized a gap and stepped in, building a reputation as a choreographer while working to bring the genre further into the mainstream.

His efforts extend beyond helping to introduce a new style. He also wanted to create opportunities for others and give Latin dance more visibility in what’s generally considered a tough industry. Through his teaching work, he saw an opportunity to present Reggaeton as a legitimate commercial dance style.

Poetry in Motion

Julio Cesar doesn’t just teach steps. He actively weaves Latin culture into mainstream choreography, making it accessible to a wider audience. His work has influenced how many people see and perform Reggaeton.

He blends authentic ethnic energy with the demands of professional dance, and his unique style comes alive in his extensive performance and choreography work. His dance credits include, among others, Amazon Music’s The Future is Ours (Times Square), where he danced for artists like Ryan Castro and Rich The Kid.

Facing Challenges and Inspiring Others

The LA dance industry is known for its demanding and competitive nature. Julio Cesar has navigated many of his challenges by continuously maintaining high standards for his work and advocating for Reggaeton and other Latin genres. His dream is to make the LA dance scene more open, welcoming, and inclusive. He also hopes that by doing so, he can lead the way for other dancers who share his background and passion.

He has invested great effort in developing reggaeton as a commercial dance style, and he credits his progress in expanding its mainstream presence to his persistence, hard work, and leadership in the music community. Among his professional goals is to perform at major events like the Super Bowl and to dance alongside both top Latin and American artists.

Dancing On

Julio Cesar wants to continue contributing to the entertainment industry and his community while also dedicating his time to teaching and guiding the next generation of dancers. His journey, he insists, is far from over. He continues to be dedicated to bringing cultures together, achieving artistic excellence, and expanding what professional dance can look like.

He aspires to gain global recognition as a dancer and choreographer while helping others find their own style. “I’ve been dancing for more than a decade. I had a vision to shape the LA dance industry,” he explains. “And I have been able to work with top Latin and American artists.”

Halloween 2025: Deepika Padukone-Alia Bhatt Pose As Lady Singham-Lara Croft, Nita Ambani Channels Audrey Hepburn Energy And More Bollywood Celebs Dance On Spooky Night- Watch

Bollywood stars marked Halloween with a glamorous and spooky celebration, hosting a star-studded party attended by luminaries like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Nita Ambani, and more. This year’s Bollywood Halloween was nothing short of spectacular, with social media influencer Orry sharing a highly anticipated video capturing the festivities in Mumbai.

Here’s How Bollywood Celebrated Halloween This Year

The clip features Orry dressed as Sebastian the crab from The Little Mermaid. Following him, Nita Ambani stunned everyone by channelling Audrey Hepburn’s iconic look from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, sporting a black off-shoulder dress, a diamond tiara, and classic bangs, resembling the late Hollywood legend.

Alia Bhatt embraced her adventurous side as Lara Croft, donning a black t-shirt, shorts, and a braid. Deepika Padukone wowed in her Lady Singham costume, bringing her character to life for the special night. Ranveer Singh made a bold entrance as Deadpool, although Orry humorously mistook him for Spider-Man. Meanwhile, Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta transformed into Gomez and Morticia Addams from The Addams Family. Even Aryan Khan, usually more reserved, made an appearance dressed as Jake Gyllenhaal’s character from Brokeback Mountain.

In his caption, Orry asked his followers to choose the best-dressed. Several celebrities and fans chimed in, with Ananya Panday and Khushi Kapoor both voting for Nita Ambani, calling her “Nita aunty,” while Janhvi Kapoor praised her, saying, “Nita aunty committed.”

What Is Halloween And Who Celebrates It?

Halloween is an annual festival observed on October 31, rooted in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. Traditionally, it signified the end of the harvest season and the start of winter—a time believed to thin the veil between the living and the dead. People lit bonfires and donned costumes to ward off wandering spirits. In recent decades, Halloween has gained popularity worldwide, embraced across cultures for its fun, imaginative, and creative spirit.

Robert’s grief journey after his father Steve Irwin’s death has often been documented, but this time, he decided to honor his mother during the Dedication Night. All the contestants honored their loved ones with their performances that night.

Robert moved the audience to tears as he danced to ‘You’ll Be In My Heart’ by Phil Collins, alongside Witney Carson. He dedicated the dance to his mother and “all the moms who don’t get the recognition they deserve.” He shared an emotional moment with DWTS judge Bruno Tonioli after his Dedication Night performance with his mother.

‘She’s an absolute hero to me’

Robert tearfully opened up about his love for his mother Terri, saying, according to Hello! Magazine, “She’s an absolute hero to me. I was 2 when I lost dad, and as I got older, I suddenly realized how hard it would have been for her to be there for us and all the while continue dad’s legacy that her and dad built together. I’ve never really been able to capture the feeling of gratitude that I feel for her. And at every milestone when I just wish that my dad was there, she was there. And that was enough. I struggle a lot with losing dad, and she always made sure that my dad was present in our lives. I want her to know how proud my dad would be of her.”

Robert also talked about the performance in an X post. “Tonight I dance for my mum, the strongest person I know. My mum and dad created a legacy that I’m proud to continue. I hope I can use this dance to share what she means to me, to our family, and to say thank you for always supporting me through life’s ups and downs. See you tonight,” he wrote, sharing photos of his family.

Terri, too, spoke out about her love for her children. “After we lost Steve, it was difficult to smile again for quite a while. So for him to say ‘you lifted me up,’ honestly, it was the opposite. Because of them, I could get up every morning,” she said.
