Mia Goth, Zach Galifianakis and Dan Stevens to Star in ‘Hey Bear’

by jummy84 October 29, 2025

“Portlandia” co-creator Jonathan Krisel is making his feature debut with “Hey Bear,” a bold revenge comedy that will star Mia Goth (“Frankenstein”), Zach Galifianakis (“The Hangover trilogy”) and Dan Stevens (“I’m Your Man”).

Penned by Carrie Kemper, the Emmy-winning writer of “Beef,” “Hey Bear” is being pitched as a “coming of rage” story boasting offbeat comedy, about a woman who seeks revenge on the bear that ate her husband. Alix Madigan (“Winter’s Bone”) will produce.

“Hey Bear” will be introduced to buyers at AFM, with HanWay Films handling international sales and WME Independent & UTA Independent Film Group representing North America.

Goth stars as Claire, who “has always led a life solely based on other people’s expectations. Married to Gregory (Dan Stevens), she accommodates his desire to spend his life studying bears in Glacier National Park, even though it means months away from him at a time. During one of her visits, a grizzly bear, nicknamed Mr. Cranky by Gregory, mauls him to death. After being told by the park rangers that Mr. Cranky was euthanised, Claire finds out that the bear has merely been transported to another national park and is living his best life. The usually meek Claire makes up her mind to exact revenge on the bear. She teams up with socially awkward park ranger Putt (Galifianakis) to assassinate Mr. Cranky, but Putt has his own murky motivations for joining her. With death and truth lurking around every tree, Claire’s desperate, grief-fueled mission takes her on an ultimately uplifting journey of empowerment and self-discovery. Set in breath-taking natural scenery, this “coming of rage” story is a darkly comedic rollercoaster ride full of originality and surprise,” the synopsis reads.

“There is nothing more thrilling than coming across a project that breaks barriers in terms of originality. As absurd and crazy as the premise of this story is, you always fully connect and empathise with Claire’s journey as she figures out how out of grief, to take ownership of her life again,” said Gabrielle Stewart, CEO of HanWay Films. “Mia Goth, Dan Stevens and Zach Galifianakis are the dream team to make us laugh, feel, and gasp with shock and horror,” Stewart continued.

Executive producers are Carrie Kemper and Danica Radovanov. Krisel is represented by UTA and Mosaic. Kemper is represented by UTA. Goth is represented by WME, Curtis Brown and Jackoway, Austen. Galifianakis is represented by Brillstein Entertainment Partners and UTA. Stevens is represented by CAA and Julian Belfrage Associates

Dan + Shay Cover Taylor Swift’s ‘Back to December’: LISTEN

by jummy84 October 21, 2025

The duo called the ballad “one of our favorite songs of all time”

Dan + Shay are accepting their Swiftie fate, and dropping a cover of a Speak Now favorite! Over the weekend, the country duo released their rendition of Taylor Swift‘s “Back to December,” weeks after sharing a clip of them performing the song during a soundcheck.

“What started as an impromptu soundcheck cover of one of our favorite @taylorswift songs turned into the quickest recording-to-release turnaround in our almost 13 year career,” the band wrote in an Instagram post. “Huge thanks to our fans who encouraged us to get in the studio and make a full version, and to everyone on our team who worked like crazy to help us make it happen.”

The pair asked fans for their help in “spreading the word” about the song, sharing that they didn’t have time for a proper rollout, but were very excited to release the recording (which arrived just in time for Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl buzz).

“Back To December + fall weather go together like 2026 + a @danandshay world tour,” joked Dan Smyers in an Instagram comment on Monday, teasing that they may perform the cover on the road.

Trending Stories

Earlier this month, the duo shared a clip of the two of them playing a small snippet of the song, which immediately gained traction from fans. “Such a great song,” Smyers and Shay Mooney wrote on Instagram at the time. They later posted a video on their way to record the “Back To December” cover, calling it “one of our favorite songs of all time.”

The new musical offering is the band’s first release since their It’s Officially Christmas double album, which dropped last year. The duo’s last non-holiday record arrived in 2023, Bigger Houses.

Dan Aykroyd says estates of late stars should be compensated for AI-generated videos – National

by jummy84 October 17, 2025

Dan Aykroyd says he’s not opposed to an AI-generated alter ego extending his screen career into the afterlife.

The “Ghostbusters” star and founding “SNL” cast-member says he’d be open to the idea as long as his estate is compensated for any likenesses created by artificial intelligence.

Aykroyd is currently hosting a second season of the History Channel’s wild-but-true series “The UnBelievable with Dan Aykroyd,” which he mused could be a good candidate for such experiments.

“Certainly if History Channel and AI want to generate me after I’m gone and have me out there doing the show, they can. But they have to pay my estate, my family, to do so,” Aykroyd said in a recent video call from his family’s Ontario farm in the Thousand Islands.

Aykroyd floated the notion when asked for his thoughts on a proliferation of online videos in which late stars are posthumously positioned in invented scenarios, among them Tupac Shakur, Sammy Davis Jr., Michael Jackson and Robin Williams, whose daughter recently lambasted the trend.

Aykroyd said it’s up to legal reps for deceased stars to go after platforms that run unauthorized material, drawing an analogy to copyright violations in music.

“The legal representatives of these individuals are going to have to go to the carriers and say there has to be some kind of rights compensation,” Aykroyd said.

Aykroyd executive produces History’s non-fiction series in which wild historical events are dramatized with archival images and re-enactments, and bolstered with expert commentary.

An episode breakdown for this season touts tales about wild prison escapes, a family cursed with blue skin and the time a lawn mower killed a spectator at a football game.

“A lot of these stories bring up an interest in history, in science and technology and (the combination of) information, education and entertainment, I think, makes for a very great success,” says the Ottawa native, who splits his time with Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.

New episodes air Fridays and stream on StackTV.

Aykroyd also appears on Flavour Network’s “A History of the World in Six Glasses,” streaming on StackTV.

That series dovetails with his expertise in spirits as co-founder of Crystal Head Vodka, which he proudly says is made in Newfoundland.

Aykroyd suspects a buy-local movement has helped domestic sales of the product famous for its skull-shaped bottle, as cross-border economic tensions largely removed U.S. alcohol from Canadian store shelves, bars and restaurants.

He bemoaned sovereignty threats and ongoing U.S. tariffs on some Canadian goods, but said he’s mindful of preserving his vodka’s U.S. sales.

“We want to keep our market in the States alive. It’s too bad that this is where we’re at,” said Aykroyd.

“But obviously the U.S. administration sees that they can get revenues and certainly I think some tariff adjustment was necessary in some of the bigger industries.

“As far as Canada becoming the 51st state, I will say that Canada is not for sale, but we do have lots of things to sell. So I encourage the chief executive of the United States, who is a deal-maker going way back in his career, to come up and make some deals and accept our deals.”

Who Are Dan Howell & Phil Lester? About the YouTubers’ Relationship – Hollywood Life

British YouTube stars Dan Howell and Phil Lester finally confirmed that they’ve been dating for about 16 years. Fans of their “Dan and Phil” channel had long speculated about the nature of their relationship, and now the pair have verified the rumors themselves.

“We fell hard and fast in 2009, and here we are, almost 16 years later,” Dan said in an October 2025 YouTube video titled, “Are Dan and Phil in a Relationship?” Phil went on to add, “We’re partners in everything.”

For those unfamiliar with the internet duo, Hollywood Life has compiled everything you need to know about Dan and Phil here!

Who Are Dan & Phil?

Dan is a YouTuber, comedian, author and presenter from Wokingham, Berkshire, England. Apart from his success through the “Dan and Phil” YouTube account, he is also known for his own channel.

Phil, for his part, is a YouTuber and radio host from Rawtenstall, Lancashire, England. He is also known for his channel “AmazingPhil.”

The dynamic duo’s YouTube collaboration went on hiatus from 2018 to 2023.

How Old Are Dan & Phil?

The fellow internet personalities have a four-year age gap. Dan is 34, and Phil is 38 as of October 2025.

When Did Dan & Phil Start Dating?

Dan and Phil confirmed they started dating in 2009, and Dan even pointed out that Phil was his first exclusive relationship.

“Without getting too long or dark or deep, I had an extremely homophobic childhood,” Dan explained in their joint October 2025 video. “In my mid-20s, I felt we had to hide the relationship because I was still hiding who I was to my friends, family, myself. … Phil was my safe space. You were my first boyfriend.”

Dan went on to say that Phil was “a literal ray of light in [his] life back then” and he explained why they chose to keep their relationship a secret.

“And what we had was the most important thing to me, and I wanted to protect it,” Dan elaborated. “So, when other people tried to grab it and drag it into the light, I felt completely violated. Having all of these people trying to out us and being so hostile to me when I tried to hide it was so triggering. Honestly, it could have killed me.”

However, Dan later realized that he “spent so long not being authentic and being trapped in this situation” and realized the “cycle of never-ending closets” made him feel “trapped inside.”

Are Dan & Phil Still Together in 2025?

Yes, based on their October 2025 YouTube announcement, Dan and Phil are still together to this day. It’s unclear if they ever briefly broke up during their 16-year relationship.

Dan Erickson Answers (Most of) Our ‘Severance’ Questions

by jummy84 August 20, 2025
written by jummy84

It’s hard to refute the greatness of Severance, which leads the Emmys race with 27 nominations, but few shows raise as many questions — or spark as many fan theories — as the retro-futuristic Apple TV+ series. THR posed many of ours to creator and showrunner Dan Erickson, who was game to answer (most of) them, including where the show’s deepest, darkest secrets are virtually buried.

***

Congrats on an insane number of Emmy noms. I wrote a story in which I said season one deserved the more accolades of the two — but that’s more about how much I think season one was under-appreciated. What’s your reaction to all of that?

I think that however people perceive it is certainly fair. I also think that there is something about the first season of any show and coming in and discovering that world and having all of those intriguing questions raised. You know, there’s certainly nothing easy about making TV at any stage, but I do think it’s easier to raise those intriguing questions than to continue the story and answer those questions — or some of them in a way that is satisfying to people. And so for me as a fan, I often find myself feeling affection or nostalgia for that first season. But I think that the response we’ve got on the second (season) is really the best that I could have asked for. And I do think that people are becoming more familiar with the show and starting to really appreciate the work of a lot of the actors who weren’t nominated in the first season. I love so much that a lot of those people are now being recognized. There was a lot of stuff that sort of flew under the radar, I think, in that first run.

I don’t know how this got in my head at some point, but did you or Ben (Stiller) ever say Severance would be three seasons and done?

No. We still haven’t to this day said what exactly it’s going to be in terms of length. So, no.

Do you know how many seasons you’re gonna do?

We are pretty sure. We’re pretty sure, but we’re keeping that internal at the moment.

I asked this to Britt (Lower) as well, but do you 100 percent promise that was Helly R. in the season two finale and not Helena Egan? Like, you’re not screwing with us.

Yeah, we’ll screw with you on some things, but on this we’re being as open as possible. Yeah, that was Helly.

I recall you telling me you had a physical bible that contained all of the show’s mythology. Do you still have that?

Well, I think that that physical binder may have gone in the shredder at some point in the transition between seasons. But we’ve still got the document that contains sort of all of the lore and the history of the company and of the characters. So, yeah, it may not be physical, it may be digital at this point, but it still exists.

Who has access to it?

So yeah, I’m working with two EPs, and so they’ve got access to it. And Ben has access to it — basically all the executive producers. And then we share that stuff with Apple and others, sort of on a case-by-case basis.

It’s not like a leather-bound thing where we blow dust off of it. It’s on a hard drive somewhere.

Is it fair to assume that Mark S. leaves the Lumon building and becomes Mark Scout again at some point (in season three)?

I think at this point you kind of can’t assume anything. I think what we wanted to do was dramatically change the format of the show in a way so that we’re not seeing the same thing we’ve seen before. So I think at this point, anything could happen.

Zach Cherry, Adam Scott, Britt Lower and John Turturro in ‘Severance’ season two, episode four.

Apple

Did you write a version where Mark S. leaves (the severed floor) with Gemma (in the season two finale)?

I like to think there’s an alternate universe, but our plan was always— we basically had that ending for the season pretty well-established when we started conceiving it. That was one of the first things that we came up with. And the reason for that was just, I really love the idea that he starts— you know, the first thing you see (in the season three premiere) is [Mark S.] running to go find not Helly and Irving and Dylan, but Miss Casey, because at that starting point of the season, he feels very much like indebted to his Outtie, or like he’s sort of an appendage of his Outtie. And so at the end, it was like, “What if we get him all the way there and he gets her out, but then he doesn’t follow?”

Explain the mechanics of why a door to the stairwell on the MDR floor turns a severed employee into their Outtie, but the same person has to go down several flights in the elevator shaft for the same change?

So, yeah, this is actually also— this is a whole section (in the show bible) of how exactly that the severance threshold works. And basically the company can build it however they want. And the idea is that there sort of is just a section— if you were to dig through the wall of the severed floor, you would eventually reach a point where you’re beyond the threshold and you’re no longer within that space where your Innie is being activated. And so, they would have basically just designed it where that doorway is, where the cutoff point is.

I will go to my grave believing that major plot points in Lost were changed in response to fan theories on message boards. Do you read the Severance Reddit thread, and would you change something if it was “spoiled” by a fan theory?

Yeah, I really enjoy looking at the Reddit, but I’ve had to pull back from it a little bit because I get in my head at a certain point. There’s so many good ideas on there, and part of you wants to do all of them. I will say that…I think, inevitably, there are little pivots that you do. That’s the nature of TV — I think it’s always been, even before message boards. As you go multiple seasons, you listen to people’s responses, and you find out what people are loving and what they’re not. And so, yeah, I think there have been pivots, but I will say like the big plan has not changed — and I don’t think it would change, even if someone were to guess it exactly, which I haven’t seen thus far.

Even if that were to happen, I don’t think that that would be grounds to change it — unless it was like a consensus, like everybody called it — because I actually think that it’s OK when…Helena was pretending to be Helly, you know, for a number of episodes. People called that from the jump. And that actually didn’t bother me. I didn’t think that it detracted from the experience, because people like being right and they like sort of being part of the show and thinking through it. If nobody ever guessed anything, I think it would mean that we weren’t setting things up properly. So, yeah, all that is to say that I love people speculating, and I don’t find it to be a problem if people are guessing certain things, because I think that’s part of the fun.

Do you feel pressure for your next show to have as much lore and mythology as this one?

I mean, the truth is — and I’m not just saying this — but I don’t think about it that much just because of bandwidth, because Severance is very much the only thing in my field of vision right now. But when I do think about sort of a post-Severance landscape for myself, I would be really interested in doing something very different — doing a totally different genre. I got my start in comedy. I always thought I would be more of a comedy writer, and I would be interested to explore that space.

I think that everything you do is really a result of of the specific collaboration and the specific people that you’re working with.I think that Severance is something that sort of had to pass through both me and Ben before it could become what it is, and all of our department heads and designers and actors. And so I think whatever I do next — you know, assuming I’m lucky enough to work again — is probably going to feel really different. And so I think we lean into that.

What you’re saying is you’re doing Survivor with (The White Lotus) creator Mike White.

That’s what I’m going to do. I’ll be— yeah, I’ll be on Love Island.

I know you won’t tell us who, but can you tell us if any other major character that we’ve already met has or had been severed (and we don’t about it yet)?

I don’t know that I can confirm nor deny that.

That feels like the right way to end an interview about Severance.

Yeah.

This interview has been lightly edited and condensed for clarity.
