The Cure Announce Concert Film The Show of a Lost World

by jummy84 November 3, 2025
written by jummy84

A new concert film from the Cure will hit theaters on December 11. Directed by British filmmaker and longtime collaborator Nick Wickham, The Show of a Lost World documents the band’s November 2024 performance at London’s Troxy to celebrate the release of Songs of a Lost World. Their 31-song setlist included the only performance of the album in full to date and a 45th anniversary tribute to 1980’s Seventeen Seconds. Frontman Robert Smith handled The Show of a Lost World’s mixing.

Songs of a Lost World marked the Cure’s first studio album in 16 years. The band followed it up with a remix album featuring contributions from Four Tet, Mogwai, and Deftones frontman Chino Moreno, among others.

The Cure Announce The Show of a Lost World Concert Film

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Back in October, The Cure hinted at what they’d called “The Show of a Lost World film.” Now, full details have emerged as the iconic rockers have announced yet another project in continued support of last year’s Songs of a Lost World.

Due in select cinemas worldwide on Thursday, December 11th, The Cure: The Show Of A Lost World is a 4K, remixed and re-cut film chronicling the band’s full November 1st, 2024 performance at London’s Troxy. (It was not only the album’s release day, but the band’s first and only show at the storied venue.) The film was directed by Nick Wickham (who previously worked with Rihanna, Madonna, and The Big 4), and mixed by The Cure Robert Smith himself. It follows another Songs release from this past April, Songs of a Lost World Remixed.

The full performance spans 31 tracks, including the entirety of Songs of a Lost World, as well as a five-song set commemorating the 45th anniversary of Seventeen Seconds. Other standout tracks include “A Night Like This,” “From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea,” “Disintegration,” “Play for Today,” and “The Walk.” Following the cinematic event, the film will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD in late December 2025.

“The Cure’s impact cannot be underestimated and this film is a testament to the artistry and depth of their music,” said Trafalgar Releasing CEO Marc Allenby, who are handling the home release. “It’s a pleasure to bring The Show of a Lost World to cinemas globally and give fans everywhere the opportunity to experience together this extraordinary concert on the big screen.”

Tickets for The Cure: The Show Of A Lost World go on sale November 20th at 10 a.m. EST; for more info, visit thecurelostworld.com. Check out the full setlist below.

If you’d like to see The Cure live and in person, they’ll be on tour in the UK and Europe next summer. In addition to October’s tease regarding the film, the band recently confirmed work on their 15th studio album. Stay tuned for more.

The Cure Are 13 Songs Into A New Album

by jummy84 October 16, 2025
written by jummy84

It took the Cure 16 years to release a studio album after 2008’s 4:13 Dream, but it seems that Robert Smith and company are working much more quickly in its wake.

In an updated band biography posted on the Cure’s web site, it is revealed that the musicians spent time this March at Wales’ Rockfield Studios to record “13 more songs” for the follow-up to 2024’s Songs of a Lost World. No further details were included beyond the fact that Smith also spent time this summer “to help re-edit and re-mix” the concert film The Show of a Lost World, which was originally streamed on YouTube in November 2024.

“Our songs always had a fear of mortality,” he said in an online interview last year. “I don’t feel my age at all but I’m aware of it, and when you get older, that fear becomes more real. Death becomes more everyday. When you are younger you romanticize death, but then it happens to your family and friends. I am a different person to the last record and I wanted to put that across. It can be trite. People could say, ‘Oh, we’re all going to die — surprise me!’ But I try to find some emotional connection to that idea.”

In June, the Cure rounded up Four Tet, Orbital, Paul Oakenfold, Mogwai and Deftones frontman Chino Moreno for the remix collection Mixes of a Lost World, and that same month, Smith made a surprise appearance at the U.K.’s Glastonbury Festival with Olivia Rodrigo.

The Cure have only played three times since wrapping an extensive 2023 tour but are planning an extensive European summer tour next year, beginning the first week of June with a headlining performance at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound festival.

The Cure add huge Cardiff show to 2026 UK and European summer tour

by jummy84 October 10, 2025
written by jummy84

The Cure have just added a huge Cardiff show to their 2026 UK and European summer tour.

The goth rock legends announced their new tour on September 30, where they’re set to kick off on June 26 at Dublin’s Marlay Park.

After travelling to Belsonic in Belfast on June 28, they’ll stop off at Manchester as part of Live From Wythenshawe Park’s summer series on August 21, before heading off to Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Showgrounds on the 23rd. They’ll also play two outdoor shows in Berlin’s Parkbühne Wuhlheide on July 10 and 11.

Now, The Cure have unveiled a huge Cardiff show to take place in the Blackweir Fields on June 24. The Twilight Sad and The Joy Formidable have been hand-picked by Robert Smith to support The Cure on the day.

Pre-sale will commence on October 16, 10am here, with general sale following on October 17, 10am – get your tickets here.

No London dates have been announced so far, but it’s rumoured the band will play a huge show at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Cure’s 2026 UK and Ireland headline shows are:

JUNE
24 – Blackweir Fields, Cardiff

26 – Marlay Park, Dublin
28 – Belsonic, Belfast

JULY
10 – Parkbühne Wuhlheide, Berlin
11 – Parkbühne Wuhlheide, Berlin

AUGUST
21 – Live From Wythenshawe Park, Manchester
23 – Edinburgh Summer Sessions, Royal Highland Showgrounds, Edinburgh

Along with their headline dates, The Cure have been announced for a slate of festivals, including headline slots at Rock En Seine, Primavera Sound, and Isle Of Wight Festival.

They’ve also been announced to play Øya, Nova Rock, Rock Werchter, and Open’er festivals.

It will be their first dates together since their show at London’s Troxy last November, an intimate gig with just 3,000 fans in attendance – including Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong, Radiohead‘s Ed O’Brien, Boy George, Mogwai‘s Stuart Braithwaite, and Pedro Pascal.

Smith previously revealed there was another new album that’s “virtually finished” – with a third new record also on the way.

Excitingly, Smith also shared he wanted to finish one of those albums before they start touring, suggesting that it may be released before they officially hit the road in August.

So far, their most recent record is ‘Songs Of A Lost World‘, which we gave a whopping five stars: “The 10-minute opus of ‘Endsong’ – always intended as the album closer – circles back to that full stop from the start: how we’re all ultimately dust and “left alone with nothing at the end of every song”. Merciless? Yes, but there’s always enough heart in the darkness and opulence in the sound to hold you and place these songs alongside The Cure’s finest.

“The frontman suggested that another two records may be arriving at some point, but ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ feels sufficient enough for the wait we’ve endured, just for being arguably the most personal album of Smith’s career. Mortality may loom, but there’s colour in the black and flowers on the grave.”

Dermatologist explains why simply cutting out junk food does not cure acne, busts 5 common acne myths

by jummy84 October 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Acne is often thought of as a teenage problem, but the truth is more complex. Adult acne is increasingly common, and myths around what causes – or cures – it can make managing breakouts confusing.

According to Dr Waraich, acne is not just a teenage concern.(Unsplash)

Dr Gurveen Waraich, a certified dermatologist specialising in clinical and cosmetic dermatology and skin care, is setting the record straight by debunking five common myths about acne. In an Instagram video posted on September 10, she unpacks common acne myths, highlighting its prevalence in adulthood and clarifying real triggers – such as makeup and diet – and what doesn’t cause breakouts.

Adults don’t get acne

According to Dr Waraich, acne is not just a teenage concern – many people encounter it for the first time in adulthood, even if their adolescent years were blemish-free. Many of her clients experience the onset of acne after 25, and she explains – “I am 35 years old. I never had acne in my teen years. Why am I getting it now? What you are suffering from is something called as adult onset acne which is actually seen post 25 years of age.”

Acne does not occur in dry skin

It is often believed that only people with oily skin experience acne breakouts. However, the dermatologist highlights that even though acne is more common in oily skin, it is not exclusive to it. She elaborates, “In fact, adult onset acne is seen in equal frequency for both oily and dry skin types.”

Eating clean cures acne

The dermatologist explains that cutting out junk food will not necessarily clear up your acne. She mentions that while some components in your diet like sugar or dairy might aggravate your breakouts – these are not the causative agents. Dr Waraich says, “What you eat is not the cause of your acne. Yes, it could be an aggravating factor like sugar and dairy, but not causative.”

Makeup cause acne

Makeup is often blamed as the culprit behind acne flare-ups. But Dr Waraich clarifies that makeup itself isn’t the cause – it’s failing to remove it properly that can worsen breakouts.

Acne is normal in teenage years

The dermatologist highlights that while acne is quite common in teenage years, it should not be treated as a norm and requires appropriate treatment. She advises, “No, acne is common in teenage, not normal. You must treat it to prevent permanent scarring.”

written by jummy84

The Cure will headline a series of massive outdoor shows in the U.K. and Ireland next summer.

The run of dates is scheduled to kick off in Dublin’s Marlay Park on June 26, before continuing on to Belfast’s Belsonic at Ormeau Park (June 28), Wythenshawe Park in Manchester (Aug. 21) and a night at the Royal Highland Showgrounds (Aug. 23) as part of the Edinburgh Summer Sessions. See the full trek below.

Tickets for all shows go on sale this Friday (Oct. 3) at 9 a.m. (BST) via The Cure’s official website, while fans who have previously signed up to the band’s mailing list will be given access to the pre-sale information.

Support for each of the shows will alternate between Mogwai, The Twilight Sad, Slowdive, Just Mustard, Stella and the Dreaming, and The Slow Readers Club.

In addition to the newly-announced gigs, The Cure are set to headline the Isle of Wight Festival next summer, as well as European festivals including Primavera Sound, Nova Rock, and Rock en Seine.

Last fall, The Cure released fourteenth studio album Songs of a Lost World, which topped the Official U.K. Albums Chart and landed at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 – their highest-charting effort in the US since 1992’s Wish. The record reached the summit on five alternate Billboard charts: Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, Top Alternative Albums, Vinyl Albums and Indie Store Album Sales.

Frontman Robert Smith told the Official Charts Company at the time: “It is enormously uplifting, genuinely heartwarming to experience such a wonderful reaction to the release of the new Cure album. To everyone who has bought it, listened to it, loved it, believed in us over the years – thank you!”

Songs of a Lost World marked the legendary act’s first full-length record in 16 years. They performed it in full at Troxy in east London on release day, as well as two shows at the BBC Radio Theatre.

In June, meanwhile, Smith joined Olivia Rodrigo on stage during her Glastonbury Festival headline slot. Rodrigo introduced him as “a personal hero” and “perhaps the best songwriter to come out of England” before the pair duetted on two anthems by The Cure: “Friday I’m In Love” and “Just Like Heaven.”

The Cure U.K. and Ireland 2026 tour dates:

  • June 26: Dublin, Ireland @ Marlay Park
  • June 28: Belfast, Northern Ireland @ Belsonic, Ormeau Park
  • August 21: Manchester, England @ Wythenshawe Park
  • August 23: Edinburgh, Scotland @ Summer Sessions, the Royal Highland Showgrounds

Deep Cut Friday: ‘Push’ by the Cure

by jummy84 September 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Each week, SPIN digs into the catalogs of great artists and highlights songs you might not know for our Deep Cut Friday series.

On later Cure albums, Robert Smith’s songs started getting longer, and so did the instrumental intros, with the band frequently establishing a groove for a minute or two before Smith begins to sing. On “Endsong” from last year’s Songs of a Lost World, Smith doesn’t open his mouth until more than six minutes into the track.

1985’s The Head on the Door was the Cure’s last album made up almost entirely of fairly succinct pop songs, with no lengthy epics. There is, however, a very long instrumental intro on “Push,” which opens with a bright surging guitar riff. For over two minutes, the band bashes through sections of the song that sound like a first verse, a chorus, and a second verse, without any vocals. And then, when the part that feels like a chorus comes around the second time, Smith finally belts out “Go, go, go! Go, go, go! Push him away!” In an album with college radio classics like “In Between Days” and “Close to Me,” a half instrumental song contains one of The Head on the Door’s most irresistible hooks, sung only once.

A 2006 deluxe edition of The Head on the Door features several instrumental demos that Smith made with a drum machine in December 1984. The brief “Push” demo serves largely to illustrate how much Boris Williams, the Thompson Twins drummer who joined the Cure in 1984, helped bring the song to life with bombastic tom-tom fills.

In concert, “Push”’s unusual structure created an opportunity for fans to take the lead. In 2018, the Cure celebrated its 40th anniversary as a band with a concert in London’s Hyde Park. And when the band played the instrumental first chorus of “Push,” you can hear a large segment of the audience start belting out the lyrics: “Go, go, go! Go, go, go! Push him away!”

Three more essential Cure deep album cuts:

X Ambassadors. (Credit: Ethan Glanger)

“10:15 Saturday Night”

The opening track on the Cure’s 1978 debut Three Imaginary Boys set the tone for the band’s career, with Smith making a teenager’s disappointing weekend feel achingly grim and dramatic: “Waiting for the telephone to ring and I’m wondering where she’s been.”

“Shake Dog Shake”

Andy Anderson, who played drums on 1984’s The Top, died of cancer in February 2019. A month later, the Cure were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the band kicked off their set at the ceremony with “Shake Dog Shake” from The Top before focusing on a few more famous songs.

“Prayers for Rain”

The ominous Disintegration centerpiece “Prayers for Rain” is one of the many Cure songs where both Smith and Simon Gallup double up on bass to create an especially heavy low end, with backmasked guitar and piano adding an eerie atmosphere.

Jeans and a White Tank Top Is the Celeb-Approved Cure For Summer Style Burnout

by jummy84 August 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Consider jeans and a white tank top your end-of-summer uniform.

Though Hailey Bieber, Kylie Jenner, and Bella Hadid made a very strong go of it for a while, there’s only so many times one can wear polka dot dresses and thong sandals before one starts running out of ‘gram-worthy outfit ideas. Summer is notoriously difficult to dress for, as fall layers allow significantly more life out of your clothes—think about how many times you wear the same pair of jeans with a variety of sweater and boot combos before anyone takes notice. The same can not be said for those trendy capris influencers and celebs wore all summer long.

The truth is that summer style burnout is real. You know it when you feel that familiar yearning for cozy knits and a pumpkin spice lattes while it’s still 99 degrees and humid. While Dunkin’ Donuts is already serving its fall drink menu, it’s still way too early to bring out your favorite leather bomber jacket. Luckily, there’s a cure.

A simple pair of jeans and a white tank top can take you through the end of summer without giving off the impression that you’ve given up. Just ask Kylie Jenner, who recently wore the ‘fit two days in a row.

On August 21, Kylie embodied a Y2K It-Girl in low-rise True Religion jeans and spaghetti straps before switching to a more classic pair of mid-rise indigo jeans to celebrate the launch of Kylie Cosmetics at Ulta. There’s something classic about the combo that takes on new life with the most subtle changes.

Here’s how to style a white tank top with jeans throughout the rest of summer 2025, according to celebs.

MEGA

We don’t all own a pink suede Birkin like Kylie Jenner, but most of us have at least one pair of dark-wash denim and a basic white tank top. Hailey Bieber just so happens to be a fan of Gap’s $63 ‘90s Loose Jeans, which she recently wore while out in Los Angeles.

The best thing about dark-wash denim is that it instantly elevate a casual look without much—if any—effort. Show a bit of skin with a cropped tank like Kylie and Hailey, or a standard length top like Kendall for an even more elegant look. Pretty much any footwear goes, whether you are still clinging to a thong kitten heel or ready to bring your fall loafers back into rotation.
